The team get stuck into UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak's visit to Aberdeen to charm the great and the good of the North Sea over his proposed windfall tax. It remains to be seen if the flying visit was more of a photo opportunity or a serious attempt to listen to the industry's concerns.     Damon covers an oil spill at Jadestone Energy's Montara field that saw the company's share price dive as Australia's offshore regulator remains concerned about the structural integrity of the FPSO.     Meanwhile, Hamish discusses his eventful week at Global Offshore Wind in Manchester, including some fun and games with Greg Hands, as well as a chat with Equinor about the Rosebank project. Equinor say they are committed to the development, but Sunak's proposed taxes could throw a spanner in the works.     About Energy Voice Energy Voice investigates and reports on what matters in global energy, helping sector leaders understand the geopolitical and economic factors underpinning current events, and giving them a view on what's coming over the horizon. We wanted to learn more about the female half of Ashley and JaQuavis, so for this year's Urban Fic Month, we read Butterfly by Ashley Antoinette. Did we know what was going on? Barely. This series is a spin-off of a spin-off that started with her title Moth to a Flame. Did that stop us from judging the hell out of it? Absolutely not. Is Morgan a Bad Bitch or a spoiled one? Why the hell does everyone in this book hate rich, popular, caring family-man Bash? Why are women in these books constantly putting fruit up their vaginas?? We don't find the answers to any of these questions, but we had fun asking them. If you want to be among our favorite people in the world, support us over on Pateron. Prior to November 1937 California State Route 1 was carried over Montara Mountain via Old Pedro Mountain Road by way of the 922 foot high Saddle Pass. Old Pedro Mountain Road itself was opened by San Mateo County as Coastline Highway in 1915 as a replacement for the Half Moon Bay-Colma. Old Pedro Mountain Road was one of first asphalted highways in California but despite it being a major improvement over the Half Moon Bay-Colma Road it quickly grew functionally obsolete. Old Pedro Mountain Road was added to the State Highway System during 1933 when Legislative Route Number 56 was extended from Cambria via the coastline to Fernbridge. Old Pedro Mountain Road was later announced as part of California State Route 1 during August of 1934. Old Pedro Mountain Road was replaced by Devils Slide during November 1937 which hugged the coastal bluffs on western Montara Mountain. Devils Slide featured a 4.7 mile shorter alignment, carried 1,174 feet less in elevation variance, and featured 13,821 feet less turning radius compared to Old Pedro Mountain Road. Old Pedro Mountain Road would in time erode over the decades but remains surprisingly well preserved as part of a multi-use trail in Montara State Beach connecting Montara north to Pacifica. Looking for something different or obscure to see on California State Route 1? Old Pedro Mountain certainly meets both those criteria and isn't something you won't see posted typically on popular social media. We also have Gribblenation blog feature on Old Pedro Mountain Road which can be found below: https://www.gribblenation.org/2021/07/former-california-state-route-1-over.html --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gribblenation/support
