Every year since the rise of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the battle royale genre's been a stable of streamers everywhere. However, the transition to sustainable esport has yet to come for the genre. Fortnite and PUBG have seen some successful events but nothing's shown staying power. Ubisoft is now throwing its hat into the BR realm with Hyper Scape, a futuristic battle royale set in a Parisian like city. While it's not released yet, its technical test saw massive streaming numbers. But Can You Go Pro? But with Riot's Valorant setting itself up to be the next big esport, especially in college, can HyperScape even work? Battle Royales are notorious for being massive and hard to follow as an observer. So as people gear up for another major multiplayer release, Norris and Jacob discuss the game's viability as a pro scene.

This week, Caroline and Marko try to survive in Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and Call of Duty: Warzone. Marko gets smacked by the Invisible Boatmobile. Caroline is purchased. Die Game Awards 2019 sind vorbei und wie man es von des Game Awards der letzten Jahre kennt, gab es wieder eine ordentliche Ladung News, Ankündigungen und Trailer zu sehen. Dieses Mal aber nicht nur zu neuen Games, sondern auf den Game Awards 2019 wurde tatsächlich der Name und das Design der Xbox Series X enthüllt. Dazu gab es noch Gameplay und Trailer vom Final Fantasy VII Remake, Hellblade 2, Godfall, der ersten offiziellen Launch-Titel der Playstation 5, Ghost of Tsushima, The Wolf Among Us 2, Bravely Default 2, dem geistigen Nachfolger von Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance Dungeon & Dragons: Dark Alliance, No More Heroes 3: The Return, Fast & Furious Crossroads, Ori and the Will of the Wisps und Prologue, dem mysteriösen neuen Projekt von Brendan Greene, dem Schöpfer von PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Damit konnten wir also schon einen kleinen Blick auf das erhaschen, was 2020 auf uns zukommt - vor allem natürlich im Hinblick auf die Next Generation Konsolen Xbox Series X und die Playstation 5.

Het was een drukke, bewogen maar bovenal gezellige week hier bij Gamekings. We mochten afreizen naar Keulen voor Gamekings Gamescom Freudentaumel en daar de allerwreedste games checken. Maar voordat het feestje allemaal werd afgetrapt waren er nog een aantal persco's van Xbox, Google Stadia en The Game Awards met Geoff Keighley. Ideaal dus om dit even lekker na te beschouwen in Einde van de Week Live. Inside Xbox @ Gamescom 2019 Xbox was de allereerste die zijn plasje mocht doen en met de billen bloot mocht op Gamescom. Tijdens de Inside Xbox persco konden ze echter weinig potten breken. Naast wat nieuwtjes over de Horde mode van Gears 5, Halo: Reach karakters en crossplay voor PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds wist Xbox alleen nog twee nieuwe kleurtjes voor hun standaard controllers te onthullen. Weinig interessant dus, next! Google Stadia Connect @ Gamescom 2019 Daarna was Google aan de beurt. Ze hebben aardig wat goed te maken met ons, want wij zijn na de eerste onthullingen nog niet echt overtuigd. Stadia heeft volgens ons vooral games nodig, exclusieve games. Games werden er dan ook wel aangekondigd (waaronder Cyberpunk 2077!), maar niet echt toffe exclusives waardoor je direct een Stadia in huis wil halen. Skate, Daan en Koos bespreken vooral wat Google moet gaan doen om Stadia aan de man te krijgen en waarom Stadia nog niet de juiste snaar weet te raken bij gamers. Een ingewikkeld web voor Spider-Man Het kan je niet ontgaan zijn dat er ook op filmgebied deze week flink wat rumoer is geweest. Met name omtrent Tom Holland en zijn karakter in de MCU: Spider-Man. Sony en Disney steggelen namelijk om de rechten en films van Spider-Man, dit is zelfs zo geescaleerd dat Spider-Man niet langer deel uitmaakt van Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Maar dat was niet het enige voor Tom Holland. De Uncharted film, waarin Tom een jonge Nathan Drake speelt, kent wederom problemen. Er is namelijk voor de tweede keer een regisseur van het project gehaald. Gaat dat nog goed komen? En oh ja, heb je onze roadtrip gemist? Check dan zeker ff Gamescom Freudentaumel Deel 1 hier!

It was an eventful weekend for Titanfall series developer Respawn, as they announced, revealed, and launched their free-to-play Battle Royale game all within 72 hours. The game, titled Apex Legends, takes place in the Titanfall universe 30 years after the events of Titanfall 2. It features a small roster of unique heroes (called Legends) players can select to fulfill specific roles in their three-person teams, giving it a tactical aspect distinctive from other popular Battle Royale games like Fortnite and PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.
