With many of us eager to make our homes and gardens Summer ready, people need to keep vigilant on the signs of a dodgy deal, especially with crooked invoices and rogue scammers on the loose. The two crimes - one old and one new – form the two sides of the same coin when conning people out of their hard-earned money for work that is either done shoddily or in many cases not at all.Although many of us do our research when it comes to looking for tradespeople – 65% take recommendations from family and friends, women are more like to do so than men (75%), 46% use websites like check-a-trade and 43% look at reviews, just under one in ten (9%) would choose a tradesperson based on the lowest price and nearly half (44%) know someone or have had someone do work on their home that was such as poor standard they had to get it fixed. More than half of people (54%) have had someone knock on their door offering to do work on their home according to new research from the Nationwide Building Society.Of those that did have to fix some unacceptable work, it cost, on average, £4,514 for kitchens, £3,300 for bathrooms and £2,861 for electrical work. Surprisingly, 15% of people thought did nothing about it.Worryingly, there is a lack of knowledge when it comes to spotting these fraudsters with 35% not knowing they could intercept genuine emails or texts, and 21% of people authorising payments even when the bank has flagged it looks suspicious – rising to 36% of 16-24s, with 34% admitting to having been left out of pocket.Rogue Trader catcher, Dominic Littlewood, has joined forces with Nationwide Building Society to explore people's lack of knowledge and awareness around Rogue Trade scammers and point out how to look out for those dodgy deals to stop more people from being tricked in the future. Since its conception in the 1960's, the Fun Palace has circulated widely in architecture culture, and mainly through its provocative collages, characterized by giant space-frame trusses framing a flexible shed of interactive cultural events, accessible to all. These images persist as inspiring propositions for a new physical infrastructure of cultural exchange, and while they are often primarily attributed to Cedric Price, the project was actually the result of close collaboration between Price and the experimental theatre director Joan Littlewood.Littlewood's radically inclusive programme aimed to counteract the elitism built into British society and arts policy of the time, reflecting her ambitions for a “theatre for all”. In this episode the architect and academic Ana Bonet Miro discusses how the Fun Palace was itself conceived as a kind of theatrical project. She also explains the impact this speculative project had on public discourse and the shaping of local developments of the time, how the Fun Palace might affect the way we conceive of public space today, and the kinds of lessons architects can learn from Littlewood and Price's collaboration. Mounting pollution and stress has multiple effects on how thyroid hormones and their actions are produced and expressed. My goal is to add to the already well-documented effects of pollutants on thyroid disease which can affect reproduction, mood, energy, digestion, sleep and increase systemic inflammation. Chronic and under-diagnosed thyroid disease has vast implications to each generation ahead of us affecting not just fertility but increasingly susceptibility to disease." Diabetes is Australia's fastest growing chronic disease, posing a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of Australians and to our health system. The impact of diabetes is over-represented within lower socioeconomic regions such as Logan, south of Brisbane. Diabetes is the most common cause of potentially preventable hospitalisations in Logan, a rate 60 per cent higher than the national average. Admissions due to complications of Type 2 Diabetes represent a quarter (24 per cent) of all potentially preventable hospitalisations. In this presentation Dr Littlewood will discuss a Queensland-first alliance with Health and Wellbeing Queensland, The University of Queensland (UQ), UQ Health Care, Metro South Health, Brisbane South Primary Health Network and Griffith University, to deliver diabetes care differently with an aim to reduce the burden of the disease on individuals, the community and the health system.

I'm sorry to say that you guys have been asking for this episode for ages and it has taken Tommo and I this long to get to it.  So I apologize.  There really is not enough great info out there about menopause, but that is slowly changing and I hope Tommo's amazing wealth of knowledge really helps you today. For those of you who don't know, Keith Littlewood aka Tommo, is a friend and mentor of mine and has fast become our resident hormonal expert.  He is currently doing his Phd in endocrinology (the study of hormones) and would love your support and for you to donate to his gofundme.  And if you have not listened to his previous episodes, you're going to find out why his work is so important.   There is a significant amount of misinformation and poor applications in medicine in relation to Hormonal Replacement Therapy, especially with Thyroid, but also reproductive issues in general and menopause.  Today we are going to be exploring those around menopause, especially the erroneous idea of Oestrogen being an appropriate application.   We're going to be talking about just why women suffer - some more than others.  And I'm really hoping that this is going to be listened to by women of all ages, because it is in fact years of cumulative lifestyle and environmental factors that contribute to how we shall in fact go through the change and what our health will be like afterwards So, share this one with your daughters, your sisters and your mothers so that we can all live long healthy lives with great bone mineral density, thyroids and muscle mass. In this episode we talk about: Adolescence  The role of oestrogen The myths of applying oestrogen as HRT Oestrogen Overload Ovulation Why do some women suffer more than others? Pre Menstural Syndrome Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Endometriosis  Eating Disorders  Oral Contraceptive Pill Testosterone DHEA Hot Flashes Weight Gain Insomnia Early Onset of Menopause  Low Blood Pressure Under Eating  Reproductive Cancers Pituitary Hormones Pollution  Prolactin Retinanol Fasting Low Carbohydrate diets Paleo Diet Bone Mineral Density Progesterone  Alzheimers and Dementia Sugar, Glucose and Carbohydrates Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids High Fat Diets High Intensity Training Cardiovascular training and the role of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Storyteller Margaret Bateson-Hill and illustrator, Karin Littlewood, bring their combined talents together in this beautiful retelling of the nativity story. In this episode, I talked with Margaret and Karin about the continued relevance of the Christmas story in a pluralistic society and specifically what they wanted to achieve with their retelling.Leah's StarBethlehem has never been so busy! Leah, the innkeeper's daughter businessman off her feet. Then in the starlight miracles begin. This beautiful, fresh new telling of the Nativity story, through the eyes of a young girl, brings wonderful humanity to this familiar tale. With a story as ancient and familiar as the Nativity, it's easy to forget the human drama at its centre a young woman about to give birth for the first time, far away from home, her mother and the women who would usually help her; the older Joseph, concerned for his young wife. By telling the story through the eyes of young Leah, Margaret Bateson-Hill allows the reader to see the humanity of the ancient story. The Nativity's innkeeper is often portrayed as a callous businessman, turning the vulnerable couple away. But at the time of the census in Jerusalem, his rooms would have been packed with travellers - not an ideal place for a young woman about to go into labour. In Leah's Star, we see his humanity in offering Mary and Joseph a warm, private space in his stable. Here is a young woman, about to go into labour who is helped by Leah and the local midwife. These details bring the old familiar story to new life.

Dét forsøger Kristian Niemietz, Head of Political Economy på Institute of Economic Affairs, at forklare med afsæt i sin bog ”Socialism: The Failed Idea That Never Dies”. A Framework for the Neoclassical-Behavioral Debate”, Palgrav Macmillan Journals    Dragsted, Pelle (2021): “Nordisk socialisme”, Gyldendal    Mau, Søren (2021): “Stum tvang”, Klim     Niemietz, Kristian (2019): “Socialism: The Failed Idea That Never Dies”, Institute of Economic Affairs    Olson, Mancur (1971): ”The Logic of Collective Action: Public Goods and the Theory of Groups”, Havard University Press

Geralyn loves to share the story of how she learned to turn life's many challenges into sources of energy rather than energy-sucking problems that put the kibosh on her life force.     Geralyn has been deeply influenced by a decades-long fascination with Littlewood's Law of Miracles, which states that any individual can expect to experience an outrageous event every thirty days.
