1969 gründeten Tom Skeeter und Joe Gottfried die Sound City Studios. Viele legendäre Alben sind dort entstanden. Zum Beispiel auch "Nevermind" von Nirvana. Bevor Nirvana mit ihrem "Nevermind" Album das Studio Anfang der 90er Jahre vor dem finanziellen Ruin gerettet haben, hatte das Studio in Van Nuys, einem Stadtteil von Los Angeles, schon mehrfach Musikgeschichte geschrieben. Viele große Künstler wie Fleetwood Mac haben in den legendären Studios Platten wie "Rumors" und "Tango In The Night" aufgenommen. Für Fleetwood Mac haben die Sound City Studios aber noch eine ganz andere Bedeutung: hier sind Fleetwood Mac zusammengekommen, wie wir sie heute kennen, mit Stevie Nicks und Lindsey Buckingham. Aber auch Neil Young hat dort Musik aufgenommen, Johnny Cash, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Metallica und noch viele, viele mehr. Insgesamt wurden über 100 Alben dort aufgezeichnet. Viele davon sind echte Meilensteine. Vor allem für die Rockmusik war Sound City das perfekte Studio. Das lag zum einen an der ganz besonderen Raumakustik, die es dort gab, und zum anderen an dem Herzstück des Studios, dem Mischpult "Neve 8028", das weltweit einzigartig ist. Nach der Schließung der Sound City Studios hat Foo Fighters Frontmann und Nirvana Schlagzeuger Dave Grohl sich die legendäre Konsole gesichert und in sein "Studio 606" bringen lassen. Um den Geist der Sound City Studios neu aufleben zu lassen, hat er viele Musiker, die in Sound City ihre Platten aufgenommen haben, eingeladen, um nochmal zusammen mit ihm neue Musik zu schaffen. In dieser Podcast-Folge haben wir über Chris' Projekt Chrizzlix gesprochen, warum er sich nie auf einen klassischen Musikstil festgelegt hat und warum genau das ihm in seiner Karriere vielleicht aber auch ein Stück weit Steine in den Weg gelegt hat. Wir reden über seine Erfahrungen im Ausland durch seine Gigs und wir sprechen über die Goa-Szenen in Südafrika, Indien, Portugal und Ägypten. 

Zudem ging es darum, ob sein Studium am SAE Institut und seine Ausbildung zum Hörakustiker für seine Karriere als DJ, Produzent, Marterer und Audio-Engineer hilfreich war und ob er Newcomern und Produzenten ein Studium bzw eine Ausbildung in dem Bereich empfehlen würde. Außerdem haben wir noch darüber geredet, welches Studio-Equipment er empfiehlt und warum die richtige Raumakustik so wichtig ist.

Last but not least haben uns ebenfalls über seine Arbeit als Labelhead von Sun Department Records unterhalten, was so die typischen Fehler von Newcomern sind, wenn sie ein Label kontaktieren und es ging darum, wie wichtig Social Media als Selbstvermarktungstool für Künstler heutzutage ist.
