We're joined by Camp Trash member, music writer, and former youth pastor Keegan Bradford (@FranziaMom) for a dive into the alien universe of Christian Rock. We talk Tooth and Nail, Christian metalcore, P.O.D., Reliant K, and how the idiom went from halfway decent (Starflyer 59) to total dogshit (Skillet) in the span of a couple decades. This week we feature fellow music podcasters that not only have the gift of gab but are also talented and creative musicians. Many of us who get on the mic every week either are or were, also in bands playing the music that we love talking about. We thought it would be fun to not only play some songs from podcasters that we know but to also get their insights around the tunes we selected. So open your ear holes and let your brain experience the invasion of podcasters! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. It's a pure passion play, which is why we all end up talking about music, having heated debates, and wild lunatic-ish rants about things as silly as what gauge strings the rhythm guitarist is using on a particular section of a song. So this week we give you podcasters that rock!Songs this week include:1. Crunchy – “Fake” from Clown School Dropout (2003) http://www.montycolvinart.com/2. Super excited to announce next guest, Jon Garcia, to The Story!Harrisburg, PA's Jon Garcia (of Jon Garcia and The Hopeless Romantics) has been honing his infectious brand of pop rock since 2013.Fans of Reliant K and Switchfoot will take note of the anthemic quality and beautiful melodies present in each of these tracks.Growing up in Los Angeles, CA, his family relocated east to the shores of Havre de Grace, Maryland - at the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the head of Chesapeake Bay. While in Havre de Grace, he spent a considerable amount of time in and around Baltimore, MD's music scene, playing shows at Ottobar, Sidebar, The Reacher Theatre, World Cafe (Wilmigton, DE), Angels Rock Bar, Fish Head Cantina, UMBC - Quadimania, Towesons - Raven Inn and many other venues in the Tri-State region & where He later ventured into the central PA Music Community. While his backing band The Hopeless Romantics has undergone a few lineup changes over the years, one key element of the music is undeniable: Garcia's purpose and drive to find the tastiest pop hooks he can stake a claim to and record them to the sheer delight of his audiences. He has performed at the Millennium Music Conference (also in Harrisburg) and Singer-Songwriter Cape May in New Jersey, Dewey Beach Music Conference in Ocean City Maryland. So in short, if you're in the mood for some sweet pop rock/indie jams, be sure to check out Jon Garcia & The Hopeless Romantics. They're the outcasts and the unloved. Those automobiles that even when new, were relegated to the “less than desirable list”. We're talking about cars like the AMC Matador, Pontiac Aztek, Plymouth Breeze and the Reliant K cars from Chrysler (to name a few). One undeniable fact however is that these cars were at one point purchased new and loved by their owners, and in some cases, they've even developed a fan base. Alan Galbraith recognized this, then took it upon himself to create Concours d'Lemons, a show that celebrates the odd, unwanted and the unreliable, and the people who love them. On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ, Alan walks us through the genesis of the Concours and how it came to find a place alongside some of the most exclusive automotive events in the world.
Hello my lovelies, and welcome to our 50th episode! It may have taken us 5+ years to get there but by God we did it, and we sure appreciate you coming along for the journey. We've got a very special episode today as Jason Kirk, co-host of the Shutdown Fullcast and Vacation Bible School podcasts joins us to talk about Mariners fandom, Christian hardcore, and how the Falcons and Mariners are the same team. Huge thanks to Jason for taking the time. The show also includes a roundtable discussion on the big Jesse Winker/Eugenio Suarez trade, the current state of the org, and what could be next for them. As always, feel free to rate and/or subscribe wherever you get your podcasts, and leave us a (hopefully) favorable review. We sure do appreciate y'all! 0:00-41:00 Team discussion and roundtable 42:00-1:13:00 Jason Kirk 1:14:00-1:32:00 Twitter Q&A (Music credits: Reliant K, Five Iron Frenzy, Project 86, Baroness)

Kurtis Parks - Episode 366About Kurtis Parks:Having written over 1,200 songs across several musical genres, Kurtis Parks has been a top 50 American Idol (fourth season) finalist, been featured on the Fox Morning Show, BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Hour, and had his “Forever Changed” song (written for his beloved Virginia Tech community after the April 2007 tragedy) featured on NBC News and CNN. Sharing the stage with such well-known artists as John Mayer, Howie Day, Sanctus Real, Reliant K, Gungor, Ben Folds and many more, Parks' worship choruses are also sung around the world in churches every weekend. Producing over 50 albums for various Christian artists nationwide and serving as worship director from 2010 to 2017 at Washington, DC-based National Community Church (NCC), Parks founded Bridges Nashville church in 2018 where he serves as lead pastor. He also released his first book in 2016, Sound Check, a book on authentic worship, as well as his first Kurtis Parks and Friends kids album, Story Songs from Scripture. Speaking, leading worship and preaching at conferences and festivals nationally, He and his wife Sarah are based in Nashville and have two children, Norah and Moses. Worship team members from downtown Nashville, Tennessee-based Bridges Nashville church spent the week of March 23, 2020 recording video and audio from their respective homes for their new single "Jesus You Are" releasing today (Good Friday, April 10) from Venture3Media (V3M). The song is available now at Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and additional digital and streaming outlets globally. A Bridges Nashville: Jesus You Are Deluxe Version is also available as exclusives from Apple Music and iTunes. Following back-to-back hardships faced by the church planted Sept. 2018 by Kurtis Parks in partnership with National Community Church, a multi-site church led by Pastor and NY Times best-selling author Mark Batterson, “Jesus You Are” has been an anthem for the church to sing over the last couple months. “Worship songs can become altar-moments to God's faithfulness, even in a tough season,” shares Parks, Bridges Nashville's lead pastor and co-writer of the song with worship leader Delaney Ramsdell. Over the last couple months, the church, which gathers at The Listening Room Café in downtown Nashville, had all of its signage, worship and production equipment stolen followed a week later by a devastating tornado that ripped through the areas of Nashville the church serves. Now dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bridges Nashville's worship team remotely gathered online from their sheltering locations across the US to record the song from their homes. “From Texas to Virginia, and all in between, while social distancing, we were unified in worship,” shares Parks. With Travis Flynn editing the resulting iPhone video and Patrick McDermott and Cordell Bay mixing the audio, Bridges Nashville initially shared the “Jesus You Are” recording on its Facebook page April 3, which was quickly viewed by tens-of-thousands and shared hundreds of times. “We knew that this is a song for right now, for our world and what we are all going through,” says Parks in the song story video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGmQuY2csxw&feature=youtu.be. “The words of the bridge say that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and the Son of Truth. If there are two things our world needs to be reminded of right now, it's that God is peace in the midst the storm and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life even among confusion and much doubting. I pray that as you listen to this song, it's an inspiration and hope-filling for you today.” Prince of peace, Son of truthMaker of all things newJesus You are, Jesus You areMore of You, less of meWho is worth everythingJesus You are, Jesus You are (“Jesus You Are” bridge.) A Bridges Nashville: Jesus You Are Deluxe Version is also available as exclusives from Apple Music and iTunes. “Worship songs can become altar-moments to God’s faithfulness, even in a tough season,” shares Parks, Bridges Nashville’s lead pastor and co-writer of the song with worship leader Delaney Ramsdell. Over the last couple months, the church, which gathers at The Listening Room Café in downtown Nashville, had all of its signage, worship and production equipment stolen followed a week later by a devastating tornado that ripped through the areas of Nashville the church serves. Now dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bridges Nashville’s worship team remotely gathered online from their sheltering locations across the US to record the song from their homes. If there are two things our world needs to be reminded of right now, it’s that God is peace in the midst the storm and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life even among confusion and much doubting. I pray that as you listen to this song, it’s an inspiration and hope-filling for you today.” Prince of peace, Son of truth Maker of all things new Jesus You are, Jesus You are More of You, less of me Who is worth everything Jesus You are, Jesus You are (“Jesus You Are” bridge.) They aren't flashy, pretty, but they do a good job. Like a Reliant K, they get you from point A to B without trouble or style. But they at least do an excellent job in the field. On this episode, the gang discusses the Pentax ME Super, Nikkormat FT, Olympus Pen EE-S2, and Yashica Minister III. We also bring up a new scanner starting to show up in Airports that will destroy your film if it goes through. And we sit down with special guest host Byran!
"Emotional attachment is really not a threat.” - Reliant K. This week the Intellects discuss the four attachment styles. The guys offer an in depth break down of each style, and share their personal relationship experiences with emotional attachment. The gentleman also discuss the Little Mermaid controversy, Jeffrey Epstein, Mitch McConnell's family tree, Afrofuture fest, and facial recognition tech. Also, the US women's national team winning gold at the World Cup, NBA free agency, and more in Vexed Sports. #getvexed and enjoy!
Before today’s interview we are going to jump back to one of my favorite christian rock bands Reliant K with College Kids. Does it have anything worthwhile to say about the college experience? Where does it land on our scale from Dylan to July? Nicky’s pick is a noisy progressive record called The Fleeting Light of Impermanence by The Appleseed Cast out of Atlanta, Georgia. It’s ambiant noise of the best kind with the vocals as another fantastic instrument. https://graveface.bandcamp.com/album/the-fleeting-light-of-impermanence I’ve got Sailing England by The Pounds. This is another folk album (big shock) with mouth harp and banjo to show that the americana trend has most definitely crossed the pond. Each track has its own flavor. In some cases it’s almost a gimmick; like Miss Me building layers of sound, or Walking Around with its ambient noise. Thankfully the solid production keeps it from getting too annoying. There is a continuum between charming and depressing I basically hang out there. If you’re like me, this is the perfect mood music. https://thepounds.bandcamp.com/album/sailing-england Today’s guest is Jaron Weidner; entrepreneur and lead singer of the band Hundred Year Dash Check out The Symmetry Ep http://bit.ly/2W6Fbcb Here are some of the artists we talked about: Mxpx https://spoti.fi/2VR1e1q Five Iron Frenzy https://spoti.fi/2LGPQW3 The Chariot https://spoti.fi/2X8gF71 Tooth & Nail Records http://bit.ly/2QrIyEu The Postal Service https://spoti.fi/2M7sWax Mutemath https://spoti.fi/2YVqHsF Passion Pit https://spoti.fi/2X84cjF Title Fight https://spoti.fi/2K2Z50i Basement https://spoti.fi/30L5XWe Frightened Rabbit https://spoti.fi/2YJF7Me Jaron Recommends Brother Sister - Mewithoutyou http://bit.ly/2I19cQE Disintegration - The Cure http://bit.ly/2K4Do00 Julianne Baker http://bit.ly/2VSc3QK Find all the episodes at http://www.ancapmusic.com Check out the show’s spotify soundtrack here:https://spoti.fi/2MFxkKG To Support Us Join The Freedom Choir here: http://www.supportsll.com Click here to sign up for email list:http://bit.ly/2MDWoSg Want the best course in music & liberty online? http://freedomsong365.com
