Lucky! That's all I have to say about all the gaps in insurance I found out about recently. You see, when your insurance guy retires it forces you to look at your policies. I had an eye opening little string of insurance mishaps that will have me thoroughly going through our binders and policies this winter. These are my cautionary tales so you don't find yourself over or underinsured. The Retirement Party So our State Farm agent tells us he's retiring and invites us to his party to celebrate. When I asked him what was going to happen to my 11 policies, he suggested I meet all the other agents that were there. I was bamboozled into attending so I could find a new agent. Oh no, no! I asked people that I trust who they use and found my own new State Farm agent. I had all my policies transferred over to him and asked to review the policies and make sure we were all set. Paper Validates What You Say You know how I always say that physical paper validates what you say when you are in the doctor's office? Well now I can share how it works with the Financial Binder, too! I actually have a business binder. So when said new agent came, he discovered I didn't have business insurance. But I could have sworn I already had it. Once he asked me the questions to set up a new policy, I KNEW I already had it! Once I finally remembered to check the business binder at home, I found it. I showed it to the new agent. And putting two and two together, we discovered the first policy was in the business name and I had only transferred my personal policies. Now to find that missing bond. The paper validated what I said. I was able to void the second policy and that saved me $2700! Poor Abby I don't know how, but in all of this reviewing of policies it was revealed that I had not added Abby as a driver to our policy. So in the event there had been an accident, the car would have been covered, but not her medical expenses. FIVE YEARS! For five years, Abby has been driving around completely uninsured! I added Joey, but total household manager fail, I did not add Abby. As the COO of this house, I missed crossing this “t.” 2024: The Year of Overcommitting You know we have remodeled and upgraded things around the house so much this year. Which also means we opened a few lines of credit and that led to the question, how much is our mortgage? Greg had one number and I had one $200 less! How could that be? The bank statements showed we were both right, but that made me have a lot of questions. The State Farm agent was able to explain that, ever since we purchased Joey's condo (which was underinsured), we've been paying escrow but we have never escrowed! So we had to get that all straightened out, too. Even the Best Fall Down Sometimes I discovered incorrect beneficiaries. We added Greg to all the Organize 365® accounts because I was the only signer on those accounts. I mean, I had my eyes opened to so much; you've got to listen to the full episode to hear all the things. As much as you may feel you are set for today, are you “set” for the future? It just goes to show no one has it all together. With that being said, at the end of the day it's up to you as the household manager to dot all the “i's” and cross the “t's” because no one cares what you intended to do. It's up to you to make sure the paperwork is correct. Do you know that song “Collide” by Howie Day? All I can think of is the line in that song that says “Even the best fall down sometimes.” Did you sing it? LOL Yes, even Lisa with Organize 365® can fall sometimes. But I am back up and ready to take on whatever “blessings” life gives me. Frank Viele's brand of New England blues rock tugs at the heartstrings, pulling the listener on a surprise journey that transcends genre.Yet even as he's racked up accolades over the past 7 years — including New England Music Awards for Album of the Year, Male Performer of the Year, Songwriter of The Year (X2), and Live Act of The Year for gutsy, gritty tracks like “Broken Love Song” and “‘Til The Bourbon's All Gone” — he's rarely paused to savor the moment before moving on to yet another tour, album, or collaboration. It wasn't until the pandemic hit in early 2020 and he was forced to hunker down that Viele realized that time itself was the world's most precarious, yet precious, resource. At that time, Viele embarked on a writing-and-recording journey with Jimmy Nutt (Jason Isbell, American Aquarium, The Dead South) and James LeBlanc (Travis Tritt, Will Hoge, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dylan LeBlanc, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Within this co-writing collaborative partnership, Viele approached each new song slowly, intentionally, and with an open mind, challenging himself to transcend the limits of genre and industry expectations. In 2021, a handful songs that he had started recording in Connecticut, and finished at Nutthouse Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, were brought to life in the 2021 EP “Time Is A Thief.” This EP won him the coveted New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” for the second time and acted as a prequel to Viele's upcoming full-length 2023 album. In January 2023, the first track off Viele's forthcoming, 13-song album completed in Nutthouse Recording Studios, “Hearts We Left Behind”, came out in January of 2023 and was featured on Boston's Country 102.5 as their “Song Of The Week”. “Hearts” continues to receive critical acclaim citing Viele's strength as a storyteller and his signature vocal delivery. The “magic dust” they are referring to has been gathered from experiences on the road and in venues across the country. Viele built his sound and narrated his journey while constantly touring the United States, playing hundreds of shows each year and sharing the stage with artists such as John Waite, Jeffrey Gaines, Lee DeWyze, Zach Myers of Shinedown, Bob Marley's Wailers, Howie Day, Xavier Rudd, Ingrid Michaelson, Tony Lucca, Pat McGee, and Blues Traveler, among others, since the release of his first solo album in 2015.But Frank Viele's musical journey starts long before that… Fondly listening to his grandmother play piano as a child and later reinvigorated as a teenager inspired by his older brother's taste in music and an acoustic guitar he left behind when he moved to the West Coast, Viele developed a deep appreciation for a wide range of genres including rock, blues, folk, and country. He began writing his own music as a teenager and quickly developed a knack for crafting deeply personal and emotive songs that spoke to the human experience. After honing his craft fronting New York City based Jam/Funk/Rock Outfit “Frank Viele & The Manhattan Project”, Viele released his debut solo album “Fall Your Way” in 2015, which was met with critical acclaim including 2 New England Music Awards for Album of The Year and Male Performer of The Year. (On top of the Live Act of The Year Award he had received in 2014).The Album, “What's His Name?” won Frank Viele the New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” which paved this Connecticut musician's path to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he began the next chapter of his writing and recording journey. Viele's music is characterized not only by his powerful vocals, soulful guitar playing, and poignant lyrics, but also its deep honesty. This is an artist who is not afraid of wearing his heart on his sleeve, and dig deep into the joys and struggles of life. He has been praised for his ability to blend elements of folk, blues, and

This episode is sponsored by Ant on a Log. Subtly the world's best snack. In this episode, Ang Buxton and Maureen Begley, comedians from Massachusetts, tell the stories of musicians from the state of Maine. This was a surprisingly tricky one to find artists for, so if you are a local musician in Maine, please hit us up! We want to talk to you! Ang's voice is getting low like an East Side Boy. They quickly touch on the very badass Juliana Hatfield, and then covers the shitshow that is Howie Day, in hopes of attraction rather than promotion. Maureen does so many hashtags. She gives us the promo info for The Fogcutters, a modern big-band. We zoom out for a minute and think longterm about the podcast. Emerson fucked around and found out. We talk about going to the doctor in sobriety vs in active addiction and alcohol-free beers. We get an update on this year's female-heavy Grammy nomination. Kurtis Parks - Episode 366About Kurtis Parks:Having written over 1,200 songs across several musical genres, Kurtis Parks has been a top 50 American Idol (fourth season) finalist, been featured on the Fox Morning Show, BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Hour, and had his “Forever Changed” song (written for his beloved Virginia Tech community after the April 2007 tragedy) featured on NBC News and CNN. Sharing the stage with such well-known artists as John Mayer, Howie Day, Sanctus Real, Reliant K, Gungor, Ben Folds and many more, Parks' worship choruses are also sung around the world in churches every weekend. Producing over 50 albums for various Christian artists nationwide and serving as worship director from 2010 to 2017 at Washington, DC-based National Community Church (NCC), Parks founded Bridges Nashville church in 2018 where he serves as lead pastor. He also released his first book in 2016, Sound Check, a book on authentic worship, as well as his first Kurtis Parks and Friends kids album, Story Songs from Scripture. Speaking, leading worship and preaching at conferences and festivals nationally, He and his wife Sarah are based in Nashville and have two children, Norah and Moses. Worship team members from downtown Nashville, Tennessee-based Bridges Nashville church spent the week of March 23, 2020 recording video and audio from their respective homes for their new single "Jesus You Are" releasing today (Good Friday, April 10) from Venture3Media (V3M). The song is available now at Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and additional digital and streaming outlets globally. A Bridges Nashville: Jesus You Are Deluxe Version is also available as exclusives from Apple Music and iTunes. Following back-to-back hardships faced by the church planted Sept. 2018 by Kurtis Parks in partnership with National Community Church, a multi-site church led by Pastor and NY Times best-selling author Mark Batterson, “Jesus You Are” has been an anthem for the church to sing over the last couple months. “Worship songs can become altar-moments to God's faithfulness, even in a tough season,” shares Parks, Bridges Nashville's lead pastor and co-writer of the song with worship leader Delaney Ramsdell. Over the last couple months, the church, which gathers at The Listening Room Café in downtown Nashville, had all of its signage, worship and production equipment stolen followed a week later by a devastating tornado that ripped through the areas of Nashville the church serves. Now dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bridges Nashville's worship team remotely gathered online from their sheltering locations across the US to record the song from their homes. “From Texas to Virginia, and all in between, while social distancing, we were unified in worship,” shares Parks. With Travis Flynn editing the resulting iPhone video and Patrick McDermott and Cordell Bay mixing the audio, Bridges Nashville initially shared the “Jesus You Are” recording on its Facebook page April 3, which was quickly viewed by tens-of-thousands and shared hundreds of times. “We knew that this is a song for right now, for our world and what we are all going through,” says Parks in the song story video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGmQuY2csxw&feature=youtu.be. “The words of the bridge say that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and the Son of Truth. If there are two things our world needs to be reminded of right now, it's that God is peace in the midst the storm and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life even among confusion and much doubting. I pray that as you listen to this song, it's an inspiration and hope-filling for you today.” Prince of peace, Son of truthMaker of all things newJesus You are, Jesus You areMore of You, less of meWho is worth everythingJesus You are, Jesus You are (“Jesus You Are” bridge.) Over the last couple months, the church, which gathers at The Listening Room Café in downtown Nashville, had all of its signage, worship and production equipment stolen followed a week later by a devastating tornado that ripped through the areas of Nashville the church serves. Now dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bridges Nashville’s worship team remotely gathered online from their sheltering locations across the US to record the song from their homes. If there are two things our world needs to be reminded of right now, it’s that God is peace in the midst the storm and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life even among confusion and much doubting. I pray that as you listen to this song, it’s an inspiration and hope-filling for you today.” Prince of peace, Son of truth Maker of all things new Jesus You are, Jesus You are More of You, less of me Who is worth everything Jesus You are, Jesus You are (“Jesus You Are” bridge.)
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Kevin Griffin formed the alternative rock band "Better Than Ezra in 1988." As a songwriter, Griffin stands out as a five-time BMI Pop Award winner and ARIAA Award-winner with multiple number ones, including Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” and Howie Day’s “Collide.” In October, he released his first solo album, "Anywhere You Go."
I catch up with Kevin Griffin, founding member and lead singer of Better Than Ezra. Kevin's debut solo album, Anywhere You Go, comes out October 4th. Besides writing for himself and BTE, Kevin has also collaborated with the likes of Sugarland, James Blunt, Christina Perri, Taylor Swift, Train, Howie Day, Missy Higgins, Daniel Powter, Augustana, Debbie Harry, and Josh Radin. We break down some of BTE's biggest hits like "In The Blood" and "Desperately Wanting".

She has opened for Trace Adkins, Sam Hunt, Chase Rice, Rusted Root, Jason Mraz, Christina Perri and Howie Day. "What's Goin Down In Downtown J-Town" is recorded at 3rd City Sound located in Downtown Joliet on the third floor above the place that did so much to cultivate this great music scene, Chicago Street Pub. Or as I like to call it, The Chi'er. I am your host Tom Maslowski. Along with me, whether stoic or animated, David Francis engineering and co-hosting out of his mind. In each of our episodes you can count on two songs with an interview in between from each artist or band. Though our shows are pre-recorded, we release them as live shows. We just mean that we captured the moments as they happened. There is no editing or pitch correcting done. Dave gives everything a good solid mix as to sooth your ears, but that's the extent of it. This episode features Alex Hoffer. His style is a mix of blues, rock, and funk. His voice is incredibly smooth. He plays all over Joliet and the surrounding areas. He has opened for Howie Day and The Gin Blossoms. Recently, Alex has been playing a ton of shows from Wisconsin to Missouri. He's one of the easiest people to work with in the music world. His original material hits the mark with great hooks and lyrics that tell a story. He is a master at drawing the audience in. Alex is all over the theme song for our show. He reads some lines in the monologue, and he's singing with John Condron on the vocals for the tune. I think we did a good job of picking his brain for your listening pleasure. “Everything we do, every decision we make, leads us to where we are today.” For Universal Music Group recording artist Shayna Leigh, music tells the story of this journey.Growing up in Orlando, Shayna originally found music through the dramatic arts. Commercial work as a child actor led to musical theatre, where she first discovered singing. She found it to be the most instinctual form of expression she'd ever experienced, and she was hooked. Her continued evolution found her influenced not only by contemporary hitmakers, but also ageless greats like The Beatles, Carole King, and Laura Nyro. She spent years writing, recording and performing, all in search of the sound that best defined her own artistry. On July 28, 2015, Shayna released her debut album “Drive” on S-Curve Records/UMG. The album includes ten tracks produced and co-written by Multi Platinum & Multi Grammy Award Winning Record Producer Michael Mangini (Joss Stone, Diane Birch), and Emmy Award Winning, Multi-Platinum Songwriter and Producer Peter Zizzo (Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton).“Drive” represents both a musical and emotional milestone for Shayna Leigh. The record is distinguished by its blend of organic roots and pop touches, the songs mixing acoustic and electronic elements to convey timeless emotions in “classic contemporary” musical landscapes. This alchemy showcases an interesting dichotomy at work in some of the material – sad songs in upbeat settings, and vice versa. Yet while the instrumentation is certainly a driving force behind her songs, it's her vocal style that truly defines them.Indeed, Shayna's voice is uniquely her own, but her stories belong to us all. She believes in the universality of the human heart, and she wants her music to reflect that. To Shayna, the greatest power of songs lies in their ability to remind us how truly connected we are.As co-writer of her record, Shayna loved bringing her input – her life, really – to the table, to see what it sparked into motion. The ensuing creative mingling of hearts and minds is what made the collaboration behind this album so deeply inspiring to her.Prior to the release of “Drive,” Shayna released two EPs: “The Cold Hard Truth and the Dream”, exclusively through Noisetrade. She also released “Hey Shayna Leigh” in September 2014, which soared to #2 on Amazon's Singer/Songwriter chart, #3 on their Hottest New Release chart and #118 on iTunes Pop Album chart. Recognized for her undeniable talent, Billboard Magazine featured Shayna as one of “Tomorrow's Hits”. Following the continued success of her music, Shayna has played shows all over the US, as well as the UK, and has opened for popular acts like Howie Day and Sister Hazel. When not in the recording studio, Shayna enjoys acting, dancing, and traveling, but her truest “extra curricular” passion is reserved for her family and friends – the “co-dreamers” who march beside her in supportive spirit towards her greatest aspirations. Her own commitment to promoting self-love extends beyond music, to organizations like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, for whom she recently performed at a NYC fundraising event.Shayna holds an increasingly strong conviction that professional and personal growth go hand in hand. “There is a strength that comes from putting yourself out there and standing up for who you are, scary as it seems sometimes,” Shayna says. “We all have a story to share and mine is woven into my music.”Shayna Leigh currently resides in New York.

Curtis Peoples is a pop artist and singer/songwriter with a defined understanding of how to create dynamic yet radio friendly music that fans of both rock and pop can enjoy equally.Curtis' self titled first album was produced by Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Kate Voegele, Marc Broussard) and featured songs co-written by Curtis and writers such as Ryan Tedder, Tyler Hilton, and Vic Fuentes. Marshall even liked the finished product so much that he decided to put the album out on his very own Galtline/The Control Group/ADA label. He worked with a number of great writers during this process including Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), Josh Kelley, Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra, Howie Day), Mozella (Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball"), Mark Weinberg (Matt Nathanson), David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Evanescence), and busbee (Lady Antebellum, Pink, Keith Urban).

When trying to understand the music industry and how things have changed since the boon in the 1990s to the digital evolution today, it’s best to speak with someone who lived through it. Enter Rose Noone. Rose started her career at Island Records in 1990, the year that “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips and “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette dominated the radio airwaves. For almost 20 years she worked in A&R at leading labels including Island, Epic and then Warner. Throughout her career she signed and worked with acts like Shakira, Nine Inch Nails, Howie Day and Macy Gray. Rose sat down with our host Kenn Richards to discuss her years at the labels to her more recent thoughts on digital marketing and promotion for artists and a discussion on how brand to band partnerships continue to take off.
