OUTSpoken Talks to Mark Willett, co-founder and CEO, is an entrepreneur seeking a fundamental shift in the script of LGBTQ culture. He has traveled the world and paid witness to the incredible diversity of our global LGBTQ community and believes the time has come for us to reconnect with our roots and work toward a more perfect future.VISIT – HTTP://WWW.BOUT.LGBT TO LEARN MORE AND SIGN UP. HOW WE STARTED Mark’s brainchild. Dearth of digital platforms for LGBTQs. Essentially none that welcome the entire breadth of our diverse community. None that offer a safe place to express ourselves authentically. Currently, most content by and for LGBTQs exists within the straight paradigm as a sidebar. Huffpo gay voices for example. B · OUT is the first purely LGBTQ paradigm. Research told us that 85% OF LGBTQs use social media on average 4 times/day, but only 15% of them said they ever talk about LGBTQ issues in social media. Why? Because there is no safe place to do so. Enter B · OUT.CONTENT We’ve assembled a best-in-class editorial team on everything from PrEP to exercise to mental health to nachos. We have trans writers, lesbians, gay men, queers, and are continually hearing from writers and artists within the LGBTQ community who are interested in working with us.DESIGN/UX Feedback on the B · OUT platform has been uniformly enthusiastically positive. Words like “extraordinary,” “elegant,” “innovative,” even “beautiful.” This aspect, as all things with B · OUT is based on extensive research. Daniel has looked at literally every app in the app store, and is a very experienced designer and UX expert. He takes complex concepts and requirements and turns them into beautiful, elegant platforms.FEATURES Our feature set is designed to give LGBTQs a platform to communicate in a wide variety of useful ways. From finding a local expert on Thai restaurants, to finding a date, to making plans with friends, to finding someone for right now. We have one-to-one communication features as well as one-to-many features. We have included discussions as a feature too. Every one of our content contributors will also be leading discussions on the topics they cover. And members can start their own discussions as well. B · OUT is the only platform where LGBTQs can feel safe to express themselves authentically and honestly, without fear of reprisal or hate-speech infiltrating the discussion. B · OUT requires authentic registration, and all profiles must have a face pic. We use cutting edge technology to verify that our members are real people, so you know whoyou’re talking with.SUBSCRIPTION MODEL We prefer to call this membership. Those who use only the free area are called visitors, to distinguish them from members. A profound distinguishing factor between free communities and member-based communities with authentic profiles is the tenor of the discussions. [Thomas: in my 20 years of building brand and consumer communities, every instance where discussions were open to all experienced a level of vitriol and trolling that was entirely unacceptable, and often vile. But communities that require membership through a subscription are uniformly safe, well-lit platforms that encourage authenticity and forthright debate. At $6.99/month, we are more than half what other apps, primarily for gay men, cost, which is around $15/month, which gets you one primary feature, which is one-to-one communication, for one purpose, hookups. $6.99 is about what it costs for one large cold brew at a good coffee shop. But with B · OUT, our members get so much more; an essential platform for your life. There is a very wide “front porch” of free features and content for visitors to use. We are certain that, after using the front porch for a while, visitors will convert to members. The value is palpable and real.ISSUES WITHIN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY Historically, when we look at Stonewall, the first Pride parades, and those parades even now, and when we look at the community’s response to the AIDS crisis, the LGBTQ community has banded together to powerful results. Marriage equality is a more recent example of this, and the fight against Prop 8 in California. What is unsettling to us is that our diverse and disparate communities are not as unified as they were — and are –under crisis. That needs to change. While respecting our differences, and acknowledging them, we also have commonalities that, by joining together, can create profound change. Violence against trans people, recent legislative actions to allow discrimination against our entire community, continued homophobic acts and hate crimes, even here in new york city, need swift and unified action. B · OUT is a platform for those organizational efforts. P0RNSTAR is the one and only, holding a licensed trademark and servicemark, so not to be confused with the many P*rnstar DJ’s out there … there is only one, and this is him! His abilities on the decks have garnered him gigs at some of the largest Parties and with some of the most well-known Promoters in North America. He has played amazing sets at over 30 Pride Events over the years, and donated his talents to many Charitable Organizations; giving back to the community whenever he can. P0RNSTAR was rated in the “TOP 5 Sexiest American DJ’s” in 2011 by Noize Magazine, and in the “TOP 10 Coolest DJ’s” in 2012 by Queerty.com. His tracks have not once, but twice hit the charts on GayDar UK Radio. P0RNSTAR was signed with Swishcraft Artists in 2011, and works in association with Sobel Promotions. His tracks can be found on many websites, but mainly on soundcloud.com and those for sale on beatport.com. P0RNSTAR found his music roots in the clubs of San Francisco where he learned the ropes under some of the biggest names in the trance scene around the Bay Area. His well-known and award-winning career in the Adult Industry was the elephant in the room whenever he took to the turntables, so instead of running from it, he completely embraced it and changed his deejay name in 2004 to DJ P0RNSTAR. Since 2010, P0RNSTAR has relocated from San Francisco into the open arms of Los Angeles, where he holds a Promoter Residency with Jeffrey Sanker. He holds a Club Residency in Las Vegas at Share Nightclub where he throws his wildly successful “P*rnstars in Vegas” party every 3rd Saturday. Consistently traveling, P0RNSTAR popped his International cherry with a three city tour of Australia during New Years 2012. He has since been invited to London, Vancouver, Panama, Colombia and back to Australia for upcoming gigs. From Palm Springs WHITE PARTY and ELEVATION Ski Week to HUSTLABALL’s in NYC and LONDON, and DAYWASH Sydney, P0RNSTAR continues to build on his well-earned career, always striding forward with the hottest beats, at the best venues. P0RNSTAR is a talent that puts forward sets that are the epitome of what real DJ-ing is all about – passion, amazing tunes, and a pair of hands capable of the most nimble mixing. Consistently wowing crowds with his technically brilliant, distinctly unique mixing style, and energy behind the decks. His sets are always fresh, original, well thought out; combining a plethora of house tracks, yet to be released MP3′s, white labels, club classics and Acapella. P0RNSTAR stands out and surpasses the rest. VISIT WWW.DJPORNSTAR.COM

I'm very excited to present my latest deep house podcast – Deep Spring House, Part 1. I think for most DJs, sticking to just one sound can get a bit boring. For me, deep house is what I listen to when I'm not in a club… when I need to think on long car rides… when I'm sitting around a friend's pool on a lazy weekend afternoon. Deep house has increasingly become my passion project and I've been working on this latest set for quite a while… in-between other gigs and projects. The BPM on this one varies from 120 – 124 in sections, but it never gets above. It's a full two hours long and I have a Part 2 almost ready to record that's equally as long – there's just too much great deep house out there not to share it! Please share this podcast on social media if you enjoy it. I'd love to be able to play this sound out live more in the future! It's recently come to my attention that a certain group of my friends didn't feel that they could play many of my recent podcasts in certain house party and mixed birthday situations because they've been too circuit-esque in the first hour or so. Moreover, I've wanted to make a pop podcast for a while now. Hence — Pop Muzik! — a 1-hour one-off 'cast for friends and family filled with radio edits and vocals… a podcast that gramma can listen to as well (if gramma's into Sia and Selena radio edits!) Perfect for the background of your next birthday soiree. Oh and that new deep house podcast is still on its way! I'm so excited about the bookings that I'm starting to line up for the spring and summer. I continue to feel so much love from the city of New Orleans, where I'll be headlining the Saturday night of their Pride weekend in June at the legendary Oz nightclub, along with Halloween night alongside the incomparably talented Joe Gauthreaux. And a dream come true -- this August I'll be playing the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown for the first time ever.... a place that's truly become my spiritual second home over the past 15 years. In the meantime, please enjoy this guilty pleasure of sugary pop confection. I almost titled this latest Podcast "Brrrr, it's cold in here…." in honor of my east coast brethren, but let's face it: it's really not that cold in LA… like, ever. I'm back from my whirlwind tour of ski resorts – I've been on the road for the past 5 weekends from Aspen to Park City to Whistler to Tahoe – and I finally had some time to get my latest Podcast recorded. It's definitely my most circuit sounding 'cast to date, although it ends with a classic house sound that I love so much. I'll have another Podcast (that I'm very excited about!) coming out within the next two weeks – my 3rd deep house venture, "Deep Winter Soul, Part 2." In the meantime, skip… run…snowboard… dance to… and enjoy this bad boy. I'll be back in Vegas at Share Nightclub on Friday for this long upcoming President's Day weekend. Daylight Saving Time is over and the days are getting shorter. The holiday decorations are coming out way too quickly, the turkeys are running for their lives and everyone's cuddling up a little closer with that person they want to spend winter huddled indoors with. (Again, maybe not in LA!). And the beats keep droppin' with dance music stayin' alive and well! From established singers like Gwen and J-Hud, to new artists like Ella's Henderson and Eyre, there's great music to be found all around. This might just be my track of the year… "We've all been played, we all get hurt Just take that pain and let the motherfucker burn And you know that in time you will find that They'll always come back, yeah they'll always come back" - Ella Eyre, "Comeback" If you heard me play at all over Halloween, you heard a lot of these tracks in my sets. George and I's "Black Widow" got such great reaction -- we were truly humbled by the response to it on the dance floor. And be sure to check out George's incredible new original production -- "I Run This" -- exclusively first here. This track is a banger and I'm so proud of him for his work on it! So, I've wanted to make a deep house podcast for over a year now, but I've always made excuses for not getting around to it. Well, the time's finally arrived! One of the best challenges of being a DJ is experimenting with different genres of music and this is definitely a completely different sound for me. However, it's also a sound that I love listening to so I knew I'd enjoy making it. I wanted to make a mix that you'd play while sitting by the pool, looking out over the Aegean Sea or the Hollywood Hills with a cocktail in your hand and hope in your heart. This is certainly no high-energy gym mix — it's a 180 from everything else on this page (with the exception of my "NYC Made Me Do It" podcast, which has a strong deep house section in it). It's certainly not my best mixing technically, but it's my first time doing a podcast mostly at 124 BPM. For a while towards the top I even experiment with 3 and sometimes 4 tracks playing at once. Still, I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well. My next high energy February podcast should be done in a week. My Upcoming Live Schedule: February 2nd – Size Sundays, Here lounge, West Hollywood February 3rd - "Vampire Academy" release party, Lure nightclub, Hollywood February 16th – Tortilla Republic, West Hollywood February 21st - 23rd, 2014 – [Elevation: Park City] (gay ski week) February 28th - Stripper Circus, Share Nightclub, Las Vegas March 23rd – Size Sundays, Here lounge, West Hollywood The Tracklist: "Thy Name," Shaylom "Warm Up," Pavel Petrov & Marten "Can't Give Up" (Chus & Ceballos Vocal Remix), Denver feat. Derek Conyer "Thursday" (Mindskap Remix), Pet Shop Boys feat. Example "Bump and Grind" (Waze Oddysey Mix), Garage feat. Antony & Cleopatra "Moleque Transante," Junior Teixeir and MC Sabara e Dannie "Jack Your Booty," The Deepshakerz "Can You Feel It" (Jakobin & Domino Pump Up The Jam Rework), Mr. Fingers "I Got U," Duke Dumont feat. I'm excited to be putting out my first podcast of 2014, with some amazing new music on it. I had a hard time whittling down the tracks — at one point I had over 45 songs on the playlist! I could easily put out a 2nd version right away (hmmm….) This one feels special for me because it contains the first remix that I've ever had my own name on — the remix of "Brave" by Sara Bareilles done by George Figares and myself. I hope you enjoy it! And for everyone stuck in the polar vortex, KEEP DANCING to stay warm! Part 1 (9 - 10:15 PM) What an amazing night! It was my honor and privilege to DJ Fred and Jason's 8th Annual Halloweenie party in Los Angeles this year, opening for the absolutely amazing DJ Dave Aude. I wanted everyone to have more than pictures to remember the night by, so I recorded my set and I'm posting it in 2 parts here. Please share it if you enjoy it. One disclaimer, on Part 1, I had to cut out a couple of tracks that I'm not able to post online, out of courtesy for the DJs who passed along the remixes, so you'll hear a jump cut in one place between Avicii/Gotye and Rihanna/Right Now (where I cropped out these aforementioned wo mixes). Hope to see many of you on the dance floor again this weekend! My Upcoming Live Schedule: October 31st (Halloween night): Tortilla Republic, West Hollywood, 11 PM - 3 AM (DJ Dan Knapp plays before!) Summer is fading, and fall is upon us. It’s truly my favorite season, as the evenings start to get that first chill in the air. My last podcast intro was very wordy — this one will be much less verbose. In an introspective mood and will let the music speak for itself. I'm hugely excited to finally be able to announce that I'm going to opening for Grammy-nominated DJ/producer Dave Aude at Fred and Jason's Halloweenie event in Los Angeles on October 25th, benefiting the Gay Men's Chorus of LA. It’s been while since I’ve gotten a new podcast out the door – in fact, this is my first of summer 2013. I suppose it’s a blessing that I’ve been working so much (both DJing and in my full-time job as a journalist), that I haven’t really had time to crank ‘em out like I had been a year ago. I’ve been in a weird transition period as a DJ recently in terms of defining my sound. From the first time I finally spun an after hours party last fall, I’m learning that deep down I’m a big room guy – I prefer a more driving and dramatic sound to lighter fare. But I’m not a strictly tribal after-hours guy like Paulo or Abel, or a circuit peak king like Joe Gauthreaux or Danny Verde — I’m not an awesome tea dance master like Wayne G or Grind, or an EDM strictest like Nicky Romero or Alesso (all of whom are some of the DJ’s that I admire the most right now and love to hear out live often). Being the Gemini that I am, I have a really hard time picking one sound and sticking to it. And in that, I’m finding that which truly is my own sound. I love pop music and I love wordless tribal beats, I have gay and straight influences, and I can’t play only male or female vocals (although being gay, I’ve always loved a good screaming diva!). And lord knows, I can’t stick with a decade — you’ll yet again hear at least something in here from each of the past five of ‘em. Through it all, I came of age in New York City, so I’ll always be partial to a classic house 4/4 beat, no matter how it’s dressed up. What you won’t hear are remixes from any of the DJs whom I’ve historically been most influenced by — in the SoundCloud age, all DJs have access to a panoptic of sounds that range from official commissions to tracks put together by a teenager in their mom’s basement. There’s a new guard rising, but top talent always shines through. With the exception of a few songs, many of these remixes are by folks I’ve never used before. This podcast reflects my schizophrenia a bit, and yet I was totally conscious about its bi-polar nature when I was laying it out and recording it. It’s almost like a wedding of my influences – what’s the saying? — Something old, something new … something borrowed, something blue. I decided to start this one out very tribal in the first five tracks to build a foundation, but with a new take on some very classic and recognizable vocals. Then there’s a spurt of some new pop music, before I get into what I think is a very strong section of EDM-light (the type I love). From there I throw in a couple of more pop songs (with EDM-light remixes) before going into a few flashback tracks that you probably haven’t heard out anywhere in quite a while (a trademark of any one of my sets), before ending with five female vocals that have me singing out loud in the shower right now. And as always, my closing track might seem out of left field, but it’s the track I’m most likely to throw on at the end of the night just to make myself smile when I’m in the car driving home alone after a gig that just ended at 4 a.m. Without further delay, please enjoy a selection of tracks that have truly made the middle part of my summer ... The dog days, if you will. I think it was worth the wait. And for those of you in Chicago for Market Days this weekend, see you on the dance floor! Hey Music Lovers, Wow, it has indeed been almost two months since my last Podcast. Needless to say, I've started a new full-time job and I've been working my little behind some very long hours getting a new TV show off the ground. I'm thrilled to get back to you with my February chapter, "Love Stinks." I'm trying to get back on a once-a-month regular posting schedule. I think the new Emili Sande (Manhattan Clique) and Olly Murs (Kat Krazy) remixes are the two tracks that are working me the hardest right now.
