Agents, MCP, and Graph Databases: Java Developers Navigate the AI Revolution (#86)

The AI revolution isn't replacing Java developers. No, it's forcing us to think harder.Welcome to another episode of the Foojay Podcast! Today, we're talking about AI and Java, how it's changing the way we work, what we need to watch out for, and why understanding what's really happening matters more than ever.I recorded interviews at Devoxx and JFall and spoke with people who build and use this technology every day.Marianne Hoornenborg opened my eyes to something important: every time an AI generates a token, there's a massive amount of computation happening behind the scenes.Viktor Gamov and Baruch Sadogursky did something really cool: they tested six different AI coding tools live on stage with the same task. The results were all over the place! But they found that the tools with access to good documentation performed much better.Stephen Chin showed me how graph databases can make AI responses more reliable by providing a solid source of truth rather than relying on vector search.Mario Fusco works on LangChain4J, a leading Java framework for AI. He explained that breaking down large tasks into smaller ones and using specialized agents can help reduce errors—hallucinations, as they're called.Jeroen Benckhuijsen and Martijn Dashorst shared their experiences working with enterprise Java. Even as frameworks are becoming lighter and we're running everything in containers, there are still complex problems that require real developer expertise.Maarten Mulders reminds us that AI is a tool, not a replacement—especially when you're solving problems no one has tackled before. You still need to know what you're doing. And finally, Simon Maple from Tessel discussed moving beyond vibe coding towards a more reliable, production-ready approach, using specifications to guide AI tools.00:00 Introduction of topics and guests02:12 Marianne Hoornenborg https://www.linkedin.com/in/mhoornenborg/The Simple Math behind AI The cost of tokens when using LLMs06:54 Viktor Gamov and Baruch Sadogursky https://www.linkedin.com/in/vikgamov/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jbaruch/ Robocoders, about the many agentic tools that can be used for vibe coding https://context7.com/16:24 Stephen Chin https://www.linkedin.com/in/steveonjava/ Graph versus relational databases Explaining MCP and Agents23:09 Mario Fusco https://www.linkedin.com/in/mario-fusco-3467213/ AI and LangChain4j in Quarkus Coding tools with AI35:43 Jeroen Benckhuijsen https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeroenbenckhuijsen/ Java in business, Evolutions in Java Making use of containers and Kubernetes Learning from the community41:44 Martijn Dashorst https://www.linkedin.com/in/dashorst/ Investigating an OOM-killer in Kubernetes with the help of AI49:37 Maarten Mulders https://www.linkedin.com/in/mthmulders/How AI may impact our jobs How to improve your Maven builds 56:13 Simon Maple https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonmaple/ AI developer tool Tessl Spec-driven vibe coding Secure AI development01:02:12 Conclusion

The fastest way to look “successful” is to finance the image. The fastest way to get free is to let the math lead. We sit down with Daniel Alonzo—author, coach, and host of Wealth on the Beach—to unpack why indexed universal life policies keep trending online despite their hidden costs, confusing mechanics, and disappointing outcomes. Daniel's take is direct: buy pure protection with term, then invest the difference in simple, diversified vehicles you actually understand. We dig into the real numbers behind cash value life insurance: rising internal costs, long surrender periods, and how policies can quietly cannibalize their own cash value over time. Daniel dismantles the familiar pitch—tax-free loans, “upside without downside,” Rockefeller and Disney stories—and explains why those analogies don't fit most families. He lays out practical alternatives: maximize affordable coverage to protect income and debts, then use low-cost index funds or broad-market ETFs to let compounding do the heavy lifting. We share client cases that reveal the pitfalls of opaque fees and what better looks like when you separate insurance from investing.Beyond products, this is a blueprint for freedom. Daniel defines success as control of your time—ownership you can pass on, systems that pay without your constant presence, and the flexibility to choose work because you love it. We talk legacy, transferable businesses, and the mindset shift from “optics” to outcomes. If you're already in an IUL, Daniel offers a calm, step-by-step path to evaluate, compare, and correct with numbers, not noise. If you're ready to trade glossy marketing for clear math, hit play. Then subscribe, share this with someone who's considering a complex policy, and leave a review telling us the biggest money myth you've let go of.Join the What if it Did Work movement on FacebookGet the Book!www.omarmedrano.comwww.calendly.com/omarmedrano/15min

Hey there, hero!So you want to try something new, or do something you've never done before, or finally get off your keester and create the first of something. You might not realize how infinitely powerful that action is.And I do mean infinite. I checked, and did so with people who are better at math than I am.There's a concept called “delta.” The delta of something is the difference between two approaches: if something is twice as good as something else, than the delta is 100%, or two times.Pretty obvious. But what's the delta between doing something new and not doing anything at all?Yeah. Infinite. Let's unpack that in this episode. How powerful do you feel when you're finished taking that first step? How hard is it for you to take that first step at all? Would knowing what a profound change you can create by “just doing it” help you “just do it?” Let me know in the comments below.REQUEST: Please join this video's conversation and see the full episode on VOHeroes, where the comments are moderated and civil, at https://voheroes.com/the-simple-math-around-taking-a-shot/#Acting #Voice #VoiceOver #Performance #Productivity #Tips #Art #Commerce #Science #Mindset #Success #Process #Options #BestPractices #MarketingWant to be a better VO talent, actor or author? In this episode of the Sunlight Tax podcast, I talk about something that can feel overwhelming for a lot of us: taxes and bookkeeping, especially if you're a self-employed person. I share why having a positive mindset around money stuff really matters and how it can actually make tax season a lot less stressful. I also introduce my new workbook, which is designed to help you move past some of those mindset blocks that can make dealing with taxes feel so heavy. Throughout our chat, I offer practical tips, like why it's so important to have a separate bank account for your business, and how setting up just a few basic expense categories can make a big difference in staying organized. Join me in this episode and feel empowered to take small, proactive steps with your finances so you can ditch the stress and focus on the creative work you love. Also mentioned in today's episode:  03:22  The Importance of Bookkeeping 07:13  Setting Up for Success: Business Bank Accounts 09:57  Mid-Year Check-In and Action Steps   Takeaways The mindset around taxes can significantly impact financial management. Bookkeeping should be done consistently throughout the year. Procrastination in bookkeeping leads to increased stress at tax time. Having a separate business bank account simplifies financial tracking. Every transaction needs to be categorized for accurate tax reporting. Doing any bookkeeping now reduces work at tax time. Mid-year is a great time to assess your financial organization. Setting up expense categories can be done easily with a spreadsheet. A visual guide to tax deductions can help streamline the process. Taking small steps now can lead to greater financial peace later.   If you enjoyed this episode, please rate, review and share it!  Every review makes a difference by telling Apple or Spotify to show the Sunlight Tax podcast to new audiences.   Links: Link to pre-order my book, Taxes for Humans: Simplify Your Taxes and Change the World When You're Self-Employed. If we think about the economic effects of President Donald Trumps big taxing and spending and domestic policy bill, we can roughly sum it up in one line. It goes something like this: We will make many big tax cuts permanent and pay for those tax cuts by cutting Medicaid and a few other things and also...by borrowing money. A lot of money. Even more than we've already been borrowing over the past twenty years. (And that was already a lot, too!) Today: simple arithmetic with profound ramifications. Before you hire, launch, or invest, there's one number you need to know: your future break-even point. It's more than a “boring” accounting term; it's one of the most powerful tools you have in your toolkit as a business owner and CEO.  In this episode, Danielle Hayden, reformed corporate CFO and CEO of Kickstart Accounting, Inc., flips the script on how entrepreneurs look at their break-even point by turning it from a financial checkmark into a forward-thinking strategy tool. She walks through how to use it as a launchpad for smarter decisions and puts you in control of your numbers.  Key Takeaways:  Break-Even as a Planning Tool: Knowing your break-even point helps you look forward, not backward, and make strategic choices with confidence.  Know Your Break-Even Before Big Decisions: Calculate how your expenses will change first and then what new revenue you'll need to cover them. Higher education is facing a perilous metaphor.  It is approaching a demographic cliff, a precipitous decline in student population that could have devastating consequences for the higher ed ecosystem. Recent studies chide higher education for not responding to a change that has been projected for some time, and that apparently comes as a shock to many institutions. In this episode I'll explain how simple math could have mitigated the effects of this phenomenon and ask what higher ed has done, or not done, to avoid what is coming.  EdUp Insights with Bill Pepicello is part of the EdUp Experience Podcast network.

More on dividend growth investing  -> Join our market newsletter!  The last time the S&P 500 dividend yield was sitting at 1.17% was in February of 2001. Many investors remember the stretched valuations 23 years ago, and even more so, how the following year proved to correct that exuberance. While stock prices are currently hovering around all-time highs, us dividend growth investors targeting a yield of 2.5-3% may find challenges in this environment.Given this, and the uncertainty surrounding the recent presidential election, Greg spends episode 41 reviewing the foundational pillars behind our investment strategy. Even with low yields, the next 10 years of performance can be boiled down to relatively simple math. As GDP expands, corporate earnings grow, which in turn gives investors increasing dividend checks. Through several illustrations of what that looks like in your portfolio, Greg concludes that the dividend growth strategy is alive and well. Later, he reviews some recent actions we have taken, highlighting decisions on selling part of Emerson ($EMR), adding to Hershey ($HSY), and starting a position in Union Pacific ($UNP).00:00 Introduction to The Dividend Mailbox00:46 Current Market Overview001:54 The Drivers Behind The Dividend Growth Strategy005:10 Historical Performance Analysis007:52 Future Predictions and Assumptions010:28 Dividend Growth vs. Buybacks12:15 Portfolio Growth & Return Illustration20:16 Market Yields, Challenges, and Opportunities27:46 Our Recent Portfolio Actions35:16 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsSend us a textIf you submit a question to us and we use it in an episode, we will send you an official The Dividend Mailbox Yeti® Tumbler -> Email us at ethan@growmydollar.com.Notes & Resources:DCM Investment Reports & ModelsVisit our website to learn more about our investment strategy and wealth management services.Follow us on:Instagram - Facebook - LinkedIn - TwitterIf you enjoy the show, we'd greatly appreciate it if you subscribe and leave a review

There are companies out there called “emergency response” or “water restoration” companies. These companies will come to you when you have a leak to dry it out. The problem is mold takes just 24-48 hours to grow. So if you do the math, by the time you call the company, and they actually get the building materials dry, 48 hours almost always passes. This means you now have a 70-80% chance of mold growth in those areas. I don't really how how emergency response drying companies are able to get away with this without making sure there isn't a mold problem, but it happens all the time, even though their Industry Standard (IICRC S500) specifically tells them that it shouldn't! Listen to hear how you can avoid this, or to help jog your memory of areas in your house that have been professionally dried, but where there may still be mold problems as a result. Enjoy!
