The FAA proposes new cybersecurity rules for airplanes to protect against intentional unauthorized electronic interactions that could create safety hazards. This is long overdue, as airplanes and other forms of mass transit have the potential to be used as weapons. The airline industry needs to take cybersecurity more seriously, especially with the increasing use of Wi-Fi on planes. The article highlights the interconnected devices and systems that need to be protected, such as wireless aircraft sensors, cellular networks, and satellite communications. It is essential to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent potential cyber threats. Please LISTEN
The space elevator has been a staple of science fiction for decades, from The Fountains of Paradise by Arthur C. Clarke to the Apple TV show “Foundation.” But the work and theories to make it a reality have been in development since the late 19th century. It's a simple concept: Imagine a long cable, stretching from the Earth's surface to a satellite locked in orbit 22,000 miles high. It would work like elevators here on Earth, enabling us to send things—and people—up into space. And it would make the need for the expensive rockets we use today obsolete.Although it has never been considered feasible due to the exorbitant cost and the engineering challenges it poses, the idea refuses to go away. One of Japan's biggest construction companies, the Obayashi Corporation, which built the Tokyo Sky Tree, had plans to build a space elevator in 2025 but has reportedly delayed that goal.So what are the hurdles that keep us from building it? And why does it seem that the space elevator is always 25 years away? Ira Flatow is joined by Dr. Dennis Wright, president of the International Space Elevator Consortium to talk about the feasibility of this megaproject.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Space elevators could totally shake things up by making space travel easier and cheaper than ever before. Picture skipping the pricey rocket fuel and just zipping up to space using electricity. It's not just about saving money – this could lead to a whole new era of space exploration and industry, with more satellites, space stations, and even space vacations on the horizon. Plus, it's eco-friendly compared to traditional rocket launches, which is a win for the planet. While there are still some big hurdles to clear, like building super-strong materials, the idea of space elevators is super exciting and could change the game for humanity's adventures beyond Earth. #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music from TheSoul Sound: https://thesoul-sound.com/ Listen to Bright Side on: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD... You've probably seen footage of a rocket launch. There is a bunch of smoke and fire as the rocket lifts off to begin its flight to achieve an altitude and velocity which will get it into orbit. It works, but it requires a lot of energy to get even a small amount of mass into the Earth's orbit. What if there was a way to travel into space that didn't require a rocket? What if going into Earth orbit could be just as easy as going up to the top floor of a skyscraper? Learn more about space elevators and how they could revolutionize space travel on this episode of Everything Everywhere Daily. Join your Kraft Kranch™-curious hosts as they discuss Brave Boimler, Mariner's travails with Commander Ransom, governmental checks and balances, the contemporary colloquial analogue to "lava tubes," professional wrestling, and the complicated statistical dynamics of various combinations of dice. Hour 3: The 8am hour starts with a conversation we had when we were all hanging out together. How will we get rid of all of our garbage in the future? Eddie believes we will hurl it at the sun and burn it up. In another story, a collegiate athlete gets an NIL deal to support a local political candidate which seems sleazy. Jerry returns for another update and starts with the Yankees 2-0 win over the Orioles. JP Sears threw 5 scoreless innings in his first start. Mets starter Thomas Szapucki got beat down in San Francisco. Gary Cohen does a Mike Francesa impression during the game. Jerry goes around the NBA from last night's playoff games. In the final segment of the hour, we talked NHL playoffs and Boomer is getting butterflies for tonight. Sal Licata was taking a nap in his car last night before his WFAN shift and was approached by masked men. He was scared and drove home.
Hour 1: We open the show with talk about last night's bartending gig we did at the Ugly Duckling in NYC for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. We also talked about the Mets and Yankees injuries as they start to pile up. And Boomer compares the NBA and NHL playoffs. In the first update of the day, Jerry starts with some audio between Sports Illustrated reporter Grant Cohn and San Francisco 49'er Javon Kinlaw. They seem to have a problem with each other. ‘My balls are larger than your balls' says Javon Kinlaw. They go back and forth and it's top notch audio. Both guys come off bad. Jerry does a quick update on the Mets & Yankees. He goes around the NBA quickly and Rangers/Hurricanes Game 5 is tonight. In the final segment of the hour, Gio has a NY Daily News story about Kyrie and the Nets and how they are hesitant to give him a long term deal. Hour 2: The 7am hour starts with talk of the NHL playoffs and small fan bases in some cities. Gio also likes taking selfies with Boomer's daughter Sydney. She has some sort of angle she uses for selfies that makes Gio look good. We took some calls on Kyrie and the Nets. Jerry returns for another update and starts with the Yankees 2-0 win over the Orioles. JP Sears threw 5 shutout innings in his first major league start. Giancarlo Stanton lands on the IL with an ankle injury. Mets starter Thomas Szapucki had a terrible first start in the majors. Jerry goes around the NBA from last night's playoff games. In the final segment of the hour, a caller has a Kiss, Kill or Marry proposition for Boomer. We took more calls on the Nets/Kyrie situation. Hour 4: The 9am hour opens with Deontay Wilder receiving a statue of himself, and he's hugging it the same way he hugged Gio. Deshaun Watson gifts a Rolex watch to teammate Anthony Walker for giving up his #4 jersey. Jerry returns for another update. He and Gio are golfing together today. Jerry goes around the NBA from last night's playoff games. Game 5 between the Rangers and Hurricanes is tonight at 7pm. Then he goes around the NHL playoffs. In the final segment of the show, we talk about Jon Gruden vs. The NFL. Someone calls us in the middle of his 600 mile trip to see the Coca Cola 600.
The Podcast is back after a short break following Russ's successful UK tour in early 2022 and his guest appearance at the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire supporting Rick Wakeman. Ian and Sven speak with David and The Duchess from “Space Elevator”, the band that were set to support Russ on his German tour that was cancelled two days before commencement thanks to Covid. Hear tracks from the excellent new Space Elevator album “Persona Non Grata” as well as soundbites from their previous two releases and enjoy an insight into how these talented musicians made their journey to becoming professional musicians. “How do people make a living as a musician if they're not in Queen or something?" David Young when contemplating his decision to become a professional musician. “We are not just going to take over the world, we want to get beyond the world's atmosphere and go up in a Space Elevator…..we just wanted to be larger then life I guess” The Duchess tells us about choosing the name for the band.

When Voyager stops to help with a planet's armageddon situation, the crew discovers that's no asteroid, it's The Etanian Order's plausible deniability! But when a shuttlecraft rescue mission to the surface ends predictably, a nearby space elevator is the only way back up through the ionosphere. Is 5,000 people a lot of people? Are coal-based hobbies a bad look? Do Neelix and Tuvok not remember they were the same person last season? It's the episode that really smacks the rock!Buy tickets to the Double Dumbass Tour! In this episode of Future Tech, I discuss how space elevators could change humanity. It's no secret that spaceships are expensive. A final tally of NASAs space shuttle program's lifetime costs puts the price tag at $1.5 billion per flight. Even SpaceX has said the operational cost is about $28 million per launch. Spaceflight is expensive. A space elevator would cost about 60 cents per pound. A person who weighs 100 pounds would cost $60 to go into space. That's about the cost of a large SUV to fill up their gas tank! I talk about the cost and many other factors such as accessibility, technological advances, and becoming a multiplanetary species. So get ready to blast off, um, I mean listen to elevator music on the way up into space!
Lovely to speak to them; check out the doorbell sound effects at about 12 minutes...
These structures are a sci-fi solution to the problem of getting objects into orbit without a rocket—but you don't want to be under one if the cable snaps.

The one which has been here for thousands of years since the days of Noah. The one created by Father God himself. The one which transports people all over the known and the unknown universe. We're hot on the trail of the real space elevator. We have photos, videos, information and more. We have photos from all sorts of years and times. Some show the same space elevator and others show different space elevators. It's obvious that there's more than one. Some are ours here on Earth and transport our shadow Government members from Earth to Lower Earth Orbit and beyond. Other space elevators are NOT owned by our government or humans in general. We have astronomers, physicists whom have seen and are reporting on these space elevator discoveries. There are videos, images and sky surveys that have included the space elevator in their findings and dont' even know it. We'll be looking at some old NASA videos that have not only shown the space elevator in it but they even show a video from inside the space elevator itself and they've disguised it in such a way where they tried to make it look like you were taking a flight from a weather balloon instead. We caught them in a huge lie. You're not going to want to miss this live stream tonight. It's going to be amazing.
