I’d describe myself as an empath. When someone is hurt, I’m hurt. When someone is sad, I’m sad. When someone is in a bad mood, I’m in a bad mood. I seem to absorb the energy of whatever is happening around me. This can be all consuming and detrimental to my well-being. This pull on the heart can easily cause a person to lose themselves in the world of others. I realized after a while that taking on the weight of the world’s problems would destroy me if I didn’t set some safety measures and boundaries into place. Today I wanted to share some of those. A Great Question to Ask Yourself - Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr One of the most efficient ways to get past a roadblock in your life is to ask yourself a really great question. Asking great questions can open up a part of our brain that would otherwise remain blocked. It brings you from a helpless dormant state to one where possibilities and solutions appear. With possibilities and solutions, our chances of moving past a troubling situation expand. And I don’t know about you, but for me, I’d much rather be in a position of expansion than deflation. How to Keep Your Ego From Stealing the Best of You - Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr The ego has earned itself a bad reputation because typically the word ego is used in situations to describe the negative. Being called egotistical means you don't have the competence and experience to back up your confidence. That kind of ego is damaging and needs to be checked. But equally as powerful as the negative side of the ego is the positive side of it. It’s not egotistical to know you are good at something. You’ve got to believe in yourself to succeed and bring value. Tune into this episode to look at how to kill the negative and boost the positive of your ego. Uprooting by Suzie Carr Book Clips Welcome to Book Clips, the mini podcast where authors and narrators give you a taste of a book with a short snippet. In this episode we hear a reading from Uprooting by Suzie Carr Synopsis "WOW isn’t a strong enough word. This was so much more than just a good story. It gave me insight into my own life. There were personal gains and losses, trials and tribulations, pain and pleasure. It kept me on my toes and made me FEEL! The ending was so perfectly perfect that my heart swelled and I teared up in happiness and was left with a warm contented feeling." - Amelia Faith, book reviewer On a fateful spring afternoon, two strangers meet at a musical event and a spark of an idea brings them both the opportunity to right some wrongs. Meet Harper Ray, an undiscovered musician who’s willing to dig weeds, clean houses, and give guitar lessons to stay afloat. A childhood tragedy has kept her blocked and has limited her ability to see and live her potential. Ivy Homestead is a green witch and life coach. Her life purpose has always been to help people live their best lives. But after hurting her best friend over a year ago, Ivy has struggled with feelings of inadequacy. What they both discover will test their strength and have them questioning what they're willing to risk to find their way back home within themselves and each other. They are suffocating under the pressure of hurt and guilt. Old wounds begin to heal between them when a spirited beekeeper named Brooke Hastings contracts Jacky to train her overly-protective dog, Bee. A mutual affinity grows instantly between them, an affinity Jacky won't allow herself to embrace. But, the heart knows what it needs. Meanwhile, Brooke hires Sophie as her assistant in the bee apiary. A trust forms, and soon Sophie begins to feel alive again as she comes face-to-face with the many parallels between her and the honeybees she nurtures. The Muse by Suzie Carr Book Clips Welcome to Book Clips, the mini podcast where authors and narrators give you a taste of a book with a short snippet. In this episode we hear the first chapter of the audiobook for The Muse by Suzie Carr Synopsis Jane Knoll doesn't realize it yet, but life is about to take a daring turn. For the past decade, Jane's been able to recapture her sense of peace after years of being bullied. By day she edits marketing jargon, and by night she watches television reruns with her gay neighbor, Larry. She's comfortable. Then, after she meets her new coworker, Eva, television reruns are no longer an option. Too shy to get to know Eva in real life, Jane creates an online alter ego and starts to follow her on Twitter. Face-to-face, Jane is nothing more than Eva's nondescript, clumsy coworker: a social catastrophe. But, behind the safety of her laptop screen, she becomes confident and empowered with purpose and talent. The two hit it off, and what forms is an undeniable creative union, one with the ability to positively change many lives. There's just one major problem standing in the way, though. Can she fulfill her purpose and make a change in the world while living the rest of her life as an alter ego? Is she brave enough to reveal her true identity and risk squandering all she's gained by it? This audiobook delves into the dramatic world of women in love, anti-bullying, sexuality, social psychology, and social anxiety. Curves Welcome –Turn Uncertainty into Opportunity Novelist and motivational blogger Suzie Carr analyzes uncertainty and its powerful effect on life. She examines those who have the ability to take a bad situation and create a good outcome from it. Uncertainty is as much a part of life as breathing. Most of us fear uncertainty on some level. We may fear things like getting into a car accident on the way to the grocery store, losing our job that we love, finding out we didn’t get that promotion we sought, missing out on a fun vacation because of a lack of funds, having our car not start on an important meeting day. You’re not alone if you’ve had these thoughts. But what makes us have these thoughts in the first place? Some experts might say it’s out intolerance of uncertainty that causes us to fear it. Interestingly enough, many of us view uncertainty as a bad thing. We attribute a bad outcome to its presence. But what if that uncertainty is necessary for you to get to a new place, a better place? What if these uncertain situations create good outcomes in the end? Tune in and see how bad things can evolve into good. A Note to Listeners: Is there a topic you’d like to hear me cover? Curves Welcome – How to Be Attentive to the Present Moment Novelist and motivational blogger Suzie Carr talks about one of the greatest life lessons she learned from her dogs, how to be more mindful in this chaotic world. The greatest lessons I’ve learned in life have been through my dogs. Dogs are natural leaders, healers, and friends. Without words, without judgment, without criticism, and instead with a simple look, they know exactly how to communicate the important things in life. One of the greatest life lessons I learned that I learned from my dogs is indulging in the present moment, or in other words, being mindful. Dogs understand how to live in the present moment. They know how to dig in and really grasp the here and now. If we can learn how to be more mindful, we can learn how to live a better life. How to stay calm, centered and attentive to the present moment. What do mindful people do on a daily basis to make the most out of life? Tune in the find out! On Win's Women of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Suzie Carr. Whether it's writing about life and love, inspiring new authors, advocating for LGBT equality and animal welfare or blogging about community awareness, positive living, and taking action... Suzie remains passionate in her beliefs! She also believes in the power of community and fostering a welcoming place where everyone feels connected and their voices are equal, valued and appreciated. Bullying, bigotry and inequality are not welcomed, but open-mindedness always is. Suzie's love for the written word started back when she was a child. She enjoyed visiting the library every Saturday to spend hours reading. Books quickly became a constant companion to her and remained as such throughout her childhood. Always in the creative mindset, she dreamed of a life where she would work by day and write books by night. Unfortunately, twelve hour work days left her no time or energy for learning how to craft a novel. So, off to college she went to pursue her passion for writing. College fed her hunger for the written word and Suzie devoured anything and everything written on the subject of novel writing while pursuing her degree in communications at Rhode Island College. Soon after graduating, The Fiche Room, a coming-of-age novel about two women falling in love, was born. Over the years The Fiche Room grew from its humble e-book origins to an Amazon Kindle best seller receiving glowing reviews. With nine bestsellers on Amazon Kindle, Suzie continues to write about the beauty of life and love. Her latest release, The Dance, is due out in January 2016. Suzie Carr believes strongly in giving back to the community. She donates a portion of book sale proceeds to the Hearts United for Animals and NOH8 Campaign.
