These 3 Queens of Diversity are... that's how we bring things into the modern day fully representing the cultura. Today's Pod Club episode highlights last week's full length episode with the powerful personalities of three Co-Founders , Wendy Betancourt and Lisa de la Paz of Cuba and Amy Pérez of Ecuador, whose brainchild Fluentica, a multicultural marketing agency, aims to raise Latine and Hispanic small businesses to their rightful success as part of the $3.2T GDP of the comunidad. No worries if you missed Cultivating Cultural Capital last week, this one stands alone. Diversity isn't about people of color spewing the already said and done business. It's about bringing authenticity into the picture to create something never done before. Fluentica is the perfect example of a business entity that wouldn't exist without the genuine personalities of its Co-Founders. Who you are is greater than what you do!Lean in, Latinas. This is getting hot, hot, hot. Let's run a quiz on which of the Co-Founders best represents your personality.

Queen Seondeok of Silla is by far one of the most fascinating Asian queens I have ever read about. Her father fought ferociously for her right to rule and she presided over a golden age for the Korean kingdoms in terms of art and culture. However the political situation between the various Korean kingdoms was always shaky and Queen Seondeok spent most of her reign trying to keep Silla from tearing itself apart. It's (still) Black History Month, and the perfect reason for Sara and Chloe to continue strolling through all of the incredible Black Broads we have learned about since the beginning of this pod! This is part 2 of an episode whose first half aired last week. We (briefly) revisit each Black Broad, spanning across time and the globe including Madagascar's Ranavalona I, II and III, to the revolutionary Three Queens of the Virgin Islands, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, Civil Rights Movement giantesses Coretta Scott King, Myrlie Evers, Pauli Murray, and Constance Baker Motley, abolitionists and modern activists, the woman who first invented the sanitary napkin, and of course the incomparable bell hooks. If you're looking to increase the breadth of your Black Broads History, this is a great episode to dip your toes into and discover the stories that pique your interest most; the stories of the women whose voices have been the most ignored and silenced by the white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy: Black Women. — A Broad is a woman who lives by her own rules. It's finally here. Part one of the most DRAMATIC season finale EVER has arrived. Kay, Chris and Jared pick up right where we left off last week, with the Rose Ceremony from Hell. They get into Clayton "following his heart" by telling three women he's in love with them, and just how he managed to convince Gabby and Rachel into meeting his family after they seemed so ready to call it quits. They also discuss how Clayton's family took it all in, and how shocked they seemed to be about just how badly their son ‘screwed the pooch' with these women. They round off the episode with some categories, including Would You Rathers?, Cringiest Moments, and, as always, this Week's Roses.
Black History Month continues as Donna and Orlando honor three women who have dedicated their lives in service to their neighbors and the Eastside.
For as long as Sapphira could remember, the world had been at war. For years she had defended her small kingdom against the fierce advances of the Hadyssian empire, and so far they had remained free, as had her sisters' kingdoms to the north and to the south. But every time her armies returned from battle, the soldiers were fewer and more ragged than before. It was only a matter of time before the Hadyssians would overtake them and her beloved country would fall under the rule of the ruthless King Felix. But when she saw a new star glowing bright in the western sky, Sapphira knew something had changed. She summoned every astrologer in her court, but none of them could explain the sudden appearance of this great light or what it meant. After she sent the last astrologer out the door, one of her servants approached her and bowed low. “Your Grace, the God I serve has revealed the meaning of this star to me. It lights the way to a child born in the country I come from—a child who will one day rule as the greatest King of all and bring peace to the entire world.” Peace. No more Hadyssians. No more King Felix. Sapphira could hardly imagine a peaceful world. Yet her heart was filled with hope, and she ached to see this newborn King with her own eyes. “Where is this child?” she asked the servant. His eyes dropped to the polished stone floor. “Zion.” Sapphira gasped. Zion lay deep in the territory of King Felix. If the Hadyssians found out who she was, she would be killed, and her kingdom would fall. But it was a risk she was willing to take. Sapphira immediately sent messengers to her sisters, who quickly sent word back: “We're coming too.” They arrived in her kingdom a few days later bearing costly gifts for the child. When everything was loaded onto the camels, the three queens took off their crowns. They would not be traveling as queens, but as commoners. Sapphira placed her golden crown with the other gifts. It would make a fitting gift for a King. Then, as evening fell, she and her sisters mounted their camels and began their journey to find the child of peace, guided by the bright light of the star in the distance. • Courtney Lasater • We currently live in a world ruled by evil (1 John 5:19), but Jesus promises peace to each person who puts their trust in Him (John 14:27), and one day He'll bring peace to the whole world when He returns as King (Revelation 21:1-4). Have you ever experienced the peace of Jesus in a world full of trouble? What was it like? • How is Jesus different from other kings? • What do we gain by putting our trust in Jesus? The depth and exquisite color of her voice are matched by her dramatic acting ability and versatility across a remarkable range of repertoire, from the title roles in Rusalka and Lucrezia Borgia, to Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac and the title role in Manon Lescaut. She is widely regarded as one of the premiere Verdi sopranos alive today, as well as one of the premiere interpreters of bel canto. Radvanovsky begins the 2019-20 season in the title role of a production of Sir David McVicar's Rusalka at the Canadian Opera Company. She then performs in concert and recital in Vancouver, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Ã Coruña (Spain) and Baden-Baden (Germany). Radvanovsky will sing a concert titled “The Three Queens” at the Chicago Lyric Opera, a concert featuring the last act of each of the three Queens trilogy. This will be followed by a concert version of Il Pirata at the Palais Garnier in Paris. In February 2020, the soprano will be singing Liza in Pique Dame at the Chicago Lyric Opera. This is followed by both the title role in Aida and Liza in Pique Dame at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The season ends with Sondra Radvanovsky singing the title role of Aida at the Staatsoper in Vienna. She has performed in every major opera house in the world, including the Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Opernhaus Zürich, and numerous others. Her signature interpretations of Verdi's heroines include the title roles in Aïda and Luisa Miller, Elvira in Ernani, Elena in I Vespri Siciliani, Elisabeth de Valois in Don Carlo, Amelia in Simon Boccanegra, and Lina in Stiffelio, among others. She trained at the Metropolitan Opera in the late 1990s in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. After performances in smaller roles there, Radvanovsky caught the attention of critics as Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann and was singled out as a soprano to watch. On the concert platform, she has sung with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, both with James Levine; with the Chicago Symphony and David Zinman; with the San Francisco Symphony and James Conlon, and with the Bayerische Staatsoper and Zubin Mehta. Radvanovsky's debut recording, Verdi Arias, was released in April 2010 on the Delos label. The album quickly became a critical hit and made several season-best lists, including those of NPR and The New Yorker. In 2011 Delos released a CD of Verdi opera scenes with Radvanovsky and her frequent artistic partner Dmitri Hvorostovsky to coincide with the pair's return to the Met stage in Il Trovatore. The disc was recorded with the Philharmonia of Russia and Constantine Orbelian. Radvanovsky is no stranger to the screen. She stars in a Naxos DVD of Cyrano de Bergerac alongside Plácido Domingo, and in Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera, and Roberto Devereux for the wildly popular “Met: Live in HD” series. She has also been an enthusiastic host for the “Live in HD” transmissions of La Fanciulla del West, Otello, and Francesca da Rimini. Born just outside Chicago, Radvanovsky now makes her home with her husband near Toronto and has dual citizenship. If you enjoyed the show, please leave a review on iTunes! The song I’ve sent you this week is a demo from way back with an interesting tale….I originally wrote it for Cannon and Ball who I understood liked it but I didn’t like hanging about in those days waiting for people to make their minds up…so I dropped a cassette of the song off at one of our local theatres where The Krankies were performing….soon after I got a nice letter from them saying they would like to put the song in their act….so there I was watching the Royal Command on the Palladium and on they come and sing the song….they also did it on several TV shows….about 10 years later I was on the same show as them and made myself known and we became good friends and I have been writing songs for their pantomimes ever since….never heard from Cannon and Ball….I think they recorded “Wind Beneath My Wings” instead,,,which got nowhere…shame. .There are moves afoot to teach young learner drivers how to drive properly….as there have been so many accidents with newly qualified drivers……this has to be a good thing because the quality of driving…especially from the young…is terrible….they are also considering halving the drink drive limit….not before time I got done a few years back for speeding (35 in a thirty limit)….and I had a choice pay the 60 quid fine and get three points on my licence…or pay 90 quid and go on a course and not get the three points….so off I went on the course with the intention of letting them know I was a professional driver with 45 years experience and NO-ONE could tell me how to drive….how wrong I was….the course was brilliant and I learnt so much…THIS is what is required for everyone as far as I’m concerned….then perhaps some of these would be would Lewis Hamiltons may live longer. I watched a programme on 20 things which rocked the world…..we were reminded of Diana’s crash….the sinking of the Belgrano….the Lockerby disaster…and quite high up the list was DAVID BECKHAM’S alleged affair with Rebecca Loos….so this amazing, unbelievable event ROCKED THE WORLD!!!....am I missing something??? here’s me thinking Beckham is an over-rated,overpaid so called celeb with not a lot of brain cells married to another celeb who needs to EAT!!!.....but there you go…I MUST be wrong....and that is why journalism is in the state its in….I doubt if anyone could care whether Mr.Beckham slept with the Queen of Sheba. Then we have Sterling who wants to leave Liverpool because he’s not happy with his 100 thousand pounds a WEEK…I’m sure the queue for the food banks will be delighted for him. I hate to say it but I do enjoy the Eurovision….it’s a great spectacle and we don’t have to endure a bunch of talentless plonkers passing judgement….I quite like our entry although it’s a bit dated..but that could be a good thing….I haven’t seen it performed which is usually what it’s all about…as with the bearded lady….no doubt the vote will be political as usual but it’s still good entertainment…ANYTHING but Britain’s Got Talent!!....however I have seen half of one of the semi finals…..I couldn’t face the second half…so I might be switching channels ... finally…this weekend the THREE QUEENS will be sailing down the Mersey….and I am NOT talking about You,Me and Dave O’Connor!!!....it’s The Queen Victoria, the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary…so there will be a lot of spectators along both sides of the River….it should be a great spectacle…. .... there was a strange case of a firm being taken to court because they refused to make a wedding cake for a gay marriage….they said it was against their Christian belief…and the court ruled in favour of the customers….saying the firm were discriminating against gays…..what a load of tripe…..a contract is made when you purchase something…there has to be an offer and acceptance….the offer is not made by the seller as everyone thinks…they merely display their wares and invite the BUYER to make an offer which they can either accept or refuse…that’s it….the firm should have just said “no” and that would have been that…there doesn’t have to be a reason….so the court got it wrong I’m afraid.

I've been collecting these songs for a long time and wanted to make sure I got the vibe on this one just right. This mix tells the story of 3 men on a journey through the south of France and Spain. They quit their jobs, packed their bags, and rented a convertible to drive along the coast of the Mediterranean. They spent weeks in Barcelona and got invited to a yacht party in Nice, France. This is the mix they played on the drive along the coast.
In tribute to the late marvelous Leyla Gencer, I present highlights from the three Donizetti "Queen" operas, Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda, and Roberto Devereux. The great diva has left us in body, but her spirit and her legacy will remain forever for those of us who have treasured her remarkable contribution to the vocal art. May she rest in peace.
