Ed Troxell is a video coach and online marketing expert teaching agents how to show up on video for their social media and marketing so they can close more deals. He has a coaching program specifically on video marketing called The Video Advantage where he helps real estate agents and other service-based business owners better understand how to use video and feel more comfortable with it to attract more qualified leads. Ed was ranked as one of the top 15 coaches in Santa Rosa by Influence Digest. As a former Apple Inc. employee, he brings a unique skill set to the table from sales, marketing, strategizing systems, and processes, to teaching the importance of showing up as yourself on video so that you can stand out from the competition and become the agent of choice. Ed first started his business a little over seven years ago. He began with tech support and web design because that was his world. He came from a background of helping small businesses and nonprofits with their tech needs and being the techie on demand for them. When he started his business and went full-time to entrepreneurship, he had to market himself differently, and the only thing that would make him stand out was video. He found the solution, but it was also not great because he didn't want to be on camera. He didn't like the way he looked on camera or the sound of his voice. Ed realized it wasn't about him anymore, it was about his business and making a bigger impact. He had to get comfortable with the uncomfortable and have a conversation with himself, asking if he wanted his business to be successful, and stand out. He had to start showing up on camera and it wasn't just grabbing his phone and getting on video. He had to go live on camera on a program called Periscope, one of the first live-streaming platforms from back in the day.The world wasn't watching him, but he went “live” to anybody who wanted to show up, which is a little terrifying, especially if you don't want to be on camera. Not only did that help his business, but it also helped him personally. The growth went both personally and professionally. When we start to narrow it down and focus, we can expand and reach more people. Ed advises people to have a profile that they are active on. Showing up as everything starts with you. A lot of people start with stories as the easiest way to get into video because you're not necessarily putting yourself out there like you would with a standard post. Everything has a season. So does your content, which is what he teaches his clients, to be able to have a structure in place, know when they're going to have an on and off-season and be able to have content planned out so that it is easy to pick up their phone and share that content when they want, where they want. People must have more access to you. Attracting more of your ideal clients to start getting more calls and hits. Essentially getting your business to thrive. In this episode:[02:38] Ed realized that showing up on camera meant making a bigger impact on his business.Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.Going live on camera on one of the first live-streaming platforms.[05:52] How Ed helps people figure out what the best channels are to be on.Be on the ones that you're already active on, not just a profile.Start with stories as the easiest way to get into video.[09:09] Coaching people through changing their mindset to condense into a small timeframe. Having 20 to 30-minute videos which don't get to the point. Keeping it under 10 minutes, ideally, five is great if you get straight to it.
If you're interested in learning about the advantages of growing your firm with like-minded advisors, the benefits of hiring a virtual assistant, and how none of it would be possible without a supportive spouse, this episode's for you! XYPN member Mike Troxell, CPA, founder of Modern Financial Planning knew he wanted to be a financial planner, but his career started off on the tech side of the business as an accountant. After being steeped in tax education for two and a half years, he made the move into financial planning and started working at an RIA. While he thought at that time he might want to start a firm one day, he loved that job and the people he was working with and thought he'd be there a long time. The stars unexpectedly aligned for him, however, and he decided to launch his own RIA. We talked about how he and his wife ultimately made that decision and made it work as they had just had their first child and had their second just 12 months after he launched. Modern Financial Planning works with clients with RSUs or stock options so many of his clients are in tech and we talked about how he helps clients navigate the financial decisions that come with that industry. While he thought he would stay solo, he ended up bringing on another advisor and is in the process of onboarding a virtual assistant. We discussed that decision and how he's been focused on growing his business. This is a really fun interview that I'm certain you'll enjoy. - Alan You can find show notes and more information by clicking here: http://www.xyplanningnetwork.com/359

Thinking of producing a podcast to showcase your corporate brand? We think every large corporation should explore this opportunity. But getting it right is harder than you might think, requiring effort and clarity of purpose. In this episode Mike and Eric deep dive into Netflix's podcast for attracting future employees from engineers to creatives and break down why we think Netflix mostly misses the mark with this one. That said, there's still lots to like about the WeAreNetflix Podcast that features employees talking about work and life at Netflix, hosted by Netflix Senior Software Engineer Lyle Troxell. On No Harm In Asking, hosts Eric Byron and Michael Kerr are on a journey to gather insights into why podcasts succeed or fail and to explore the myriad of different patterns, structures, topics, techniques, and personalities that have evolved this industry. Through our podcast, we hope to inspire and encourage the next generation of storytellers and visionaries. Jordan Troxell discusses how he got his start, working for Ken Roczen, and more.
One NCO's first experience in combat completely changed the trajectory of his life - and put him on a focused path to a lofty goal: help every member of the joint force be physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to fight in the most disadvantageous terrain on their worst day – and win.John Wayne Troxell, who served as a command sergeant major for 20 years before becoming the third Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2015, learned a lot in the 7 months between redeploying from Operation Just Cause and deploying again to Operation Desert Shield some 7 months later. He took those hard-learned lessons and made them a primer that would ultimately shape his 38 years of service to the nation.AIP co-host Mike Lavigne's conversation with his worst PT nightmare (and boss of exactly 72 hours) covers a lot of ground – from the successes Troxell experienced in peacetime and in combat, to the crushing realities of being suspended and investigated as the Defense Department's most senior noncommissioned officer. If you enjoyed this episode, please share with a couple of your friends and leave us a review on whatever platform you use. Rates of stress and anxiety are increasing and it's estimated that 1 in 4 of us will experience mental health problems at some point in our lives. HEROBITES is a bi-weekly podcast clip for your mid-week motivation jump-start to inspire or educate you with our former guest's insight. Today's clip is from episode 20 featuring SEAC #3, John Wayne Troxell - and the story on how he became world famous by turning an E-tool, into a symbol of courage. Video recorded by a Stars and Stripes reporter on Dec. 24, 2017 in Afghanistan, shows Troxell delivering a speech to cheering troops as General Dunford and Florent Groberg, a Medal of Honor recipient looked on. Troxell, speaking from a stage, said that ISIS will be “annihilated, period!” before he launched into specifics. “That may be through advising, assisting and enabling the host-nation partners,” he said. “It may be by dropping bombs on them. It may be by shooting them in the face. And it even might be beating them to death with your entrenching tool, but we are going to beat this enemy!” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2018/01/10/senior-pentagon-soldier-warns-isis-quit-or-be-shot-in-the-face-beaten-with-entrenching-tools/
Our very first episode of the She is Kindred Podcast starts at the beginning as Britt interviews her high school English teacher, Melissa Troxell, who was instrumental in encouraging her to share her story with vulnerability and authenticity. Their conversation discusses the truth that everyone has a story worth sharing, and how our stories are often more interconnected than we realize. They share their own personal perspective on what it means to find and build community, even in unlikely spaces, and how we must choose to value our own story before can truly value others. “It makes me wonder how many of our stories are interconnected with one another, and we don't even realize it. Part of my heart is to use She Is Kindred...to acknowledge that we are all coming from places that are maybe not quite as different as we think.” - Brittany SmithSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/sheiskindred)
In this episode, I had a lively conversation with video coach Ed Troxell. We waxed philosophic (not really) about the importance of using videos in your social media, how TikTok is taking over, and generally geeked out together over our love of video. When it comes to video nothing gets your message across faster. Why? Because 96% of human communications come from non-verbal cues. Video gives your potential audience 100% of you not just 4% with your words or voice. During our conversation Ed had this to say about the power (and magic) of using videos on your social feeds, "And it [video] allows you to feel that person's energy, see them hear them, it makes all of these connections. So even if you're listening just to the audio of this, you're going to be inspired because now you're going to want to go look for the video part to see what we look like to feel the energy that we're feeling and putting out there through the camera. And it also allows You have to work smarter, not harder because you're creating one piece of content, that then you can repurpose into multiple pieces of content easily. And it's just so rewarding." Videos are the #1 way to quickly deliver your message in a way that your audience will believe and trust. If you aren't adding video to your feed you might just be falling behind. From BBC News - The invasion came by sea, air and land. Thousands of US troops descended on Panama, seeking to unseat its de facto leader and bring him to Miami to face drug charges. It was 20 December 1989, and the once close relationship between General Manuel Noriega and the US had deteriorated to the point of no return. In an address to the nation, then President George H W Bush said he had ordered military forces to Panama to "protect the lives of American citizens" and bring Noriega "to justice". The announcement came days after Panamanian forces killed an American serviceman. At the time, Noriega was also facing a US indictment for drug-trafficking, as well as claims he had rigged a 1989 election. Operation Just Cause, as it was dubbed by the US, saw more than 20,000 US troops invade the country and seize control of key military installations. Officially, 514 Panamanian soldiers and civilians were killed in the invasion but some local groups say the real number is closer to 1,000. Twenty-three US military personnel died.

About John Wayne Troxell Before his retirement in December 2019, Troxell was selected as SEAC #3, the highest enlisted rank of all branches. He was the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense for four years on all matters involving joint and combined total force integration, utilization, health of the force and joint development for enlisted personnel. Troxell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1982. Source: From Beyond The Uniform Podcast check Troxell's page out here! https://www.pmehard.com In his own words: I spent over 37 years in the Army which culminated in the senior enlisted role in the Department. I was responsible for gauging the pulse of the entire enlisted force. It was a phenomenal role and I deeply enjoyed. The greatest competitive advantage our military has is in our people. No country trains, educates, and empowers its people to the extent that the United States does. That means that when people leave the military, they are highly qualified to succeed in almost any role.
