Listeners, we're back this week with Aida Rodriguez. Aida Rodriguez is a Comedian, Writer, Actor, and Mother. Lauded by Esquire Magazine as “raucously funny,” she has become a favorite with fans and critics alike. With her first hour standup special set to premiere, her own TV series in development, both at HBO Max, and a deal for an animated series with ITV, Aida is bound for the comedy stratosphere. In November 2021, Aida's first hour standup special Fighting Words will premiere in HBO Max. In the special, the comedian takes to the stage to address today's audiences about cancel-culture and the social issues of the day, not just because they're ripped from the headlines, but because they are in the pages torn out of her personal life. Additionally, Rodriguez is developing her own half hour comedy series with HBO Max based on her own incredible life story, which includes surviving two kidnappings, sexual abuse, and a period of homelessness. Co-written and Executive Produced by Rodriguez, Chris Case (Showtime's Flatbush Misdemeanors) and Nastaran Dibai (Netflix's Dear White People), the project examines the struggle of a comedian (Rodriguez) who is trying to kick start a career while raising two very different teenagers on her own over multiple time zones. It is an uplifting story of survival and triumph in the face of a darkly funny Miami inner-city upbringing, where she learned skills that allowed her to thrive and endure. In addition to her HBO Max projects, she is developing an animated series with ITV.In 2020, Aida headlined the HBO LatinX standup special Entrenos while also appearing in Showtime's Shaquille O'Neal Presents: All Star Comedy Jam, one of only four women to have performed on the series in its 15 seasons. Prior to that, she had her own half hour special on Netflix's hit comedy series They Ready, Executive Produced by Tiffany Haddish and Wanda Sykes. In reviews Decider gushed that the special “will have you laughing, crying and begging for more” and Esquire Magazine declared *“*This is Rodriguez's genius—using comedy to turn pain into progress, to give voice to the voiceless, and to laugh instead of cry.”In addition to her TV projects, Aida was handpicked by director Taylor Hackford for his feature film “The Comedian” starring Robert De Niro. She is also the five-time host of PBS' Imagen Awards, which recognizes and rewards creative excellence of Latinos in television and film. She is a guest writer for Buzzfeed as well as a regular Commentator on the popular online progressive political talk show The Young Turks. Rodriguez hosts her own podcast, Truth Serum, which is an interactive weekly wrap up show covering the week's hottest topics, where inclusivity and diversity are a standard, not an initiative.A longtime favorite on the standup circuit, Aida was a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing and has been featured on several comedy fan-favorite TV series, including Comedy Central's This Week at the Comedy Cellar, HBO's Pause with Sam Jay, and TBS' Tournament of Laughs. She tours the country performing her distinct brand of poignant and insightful comedy to sold out audiences, inviting her longtime fans to laugh hard, think hard, and feel hard. During our conversation, we talked about:How she started her careerHow she now honors her heightEverything that she's learned has supported her nowHer HBO special Fighting Words This episode is brought to you by MagicMind is the world's first productivity drink.

“But when you are taking fashion illustration at FIT, you have to take a couple of painting classes. The most interesting thing that I've learned over time painting, is that painting is not drawing. That's one of the things that I do teach in my classes. It's not tracing something on a canvas and filling it in, you're actually painting light,” said Ric.Kristan Vermeulen sat down with Ric to learn more about his craft of plein air art and the important light is for painters. Ric describes looking at various photos to create your painting but really noticing the light in each scene. It was Kristan's first time taking an oil painting workshop and it was a great experience and her painting turned out fairly well. I had to ask him, why plein air? He has done so many styles of painting, so why is this his specialty? He shares that this part could be because of where he lives, Maine. There are so many beautiful scenes to paint each and every season. I don't blame him for wanting to paint these gorgeous scenes - especially the ones he sees from his private studio in Ogunquit. “One of my instructors told me that you have to love the process, as well as the final result, right? So I love painting outdoors, I want to share that love with other people.”Ric shares what he has learned through the years in workshops at the Cliff House Resort. He also sells his lovely work at the resort and on his website. Also, stay until the end to hear local musician Liz Beebe's new track Try It Out.Thanks to Berlin City Auto Group for the eco-friendly option when traveling to Ogunquit and for sponsoring this podcast. Also, thanks to Frances Mahoney for joining me and taking the photos!

Like magic, the sorcery of stories is this: they help each of us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood. When asked if she was luckier than most having been born in the shadow of a castle in Thune, Switzerland, Susanne Mueller said her luck was born of a willingness to see life’s challenges for what they really were: an opportunity to show up, say Yes!, take it on, and help others. When talking with Susanne last week I asked her who taught her courage to risk. Let’s rejoin the conversation as Susanne shares with us her Life journey and how risk-taking and saying Yes! informs her podcast, Take It From the Iron Woman, her blog, and her international CEO consulting and coaching practice. Combine the Wim Hof 40 day Quarantine Challenge with 100 days of Burpees and you have our April/May challenge. We are 34 days in. How are you doing? Want to join? Come in...it’s not too late. If you need further instructions please CLICK HERE for full description or read below: We will do the 100 day Burpee challenge. This one is easy to explain. On April 1, drop and do 1 burpee. On April 2nd, do 2 burpees. Continue adding a burpee a day for 100 days. We will also join in on the Wim Hof 40 Day Quarantine Challenge. I have written about Wim Hof quite a bit here and have been doing the daily breathing for about 5 years. Notably, I have not been sick in any way since starting this protocol. Previous to starting, I had the flu every year for 3 years prior. I would also get occasional colds. Additionally, performance has improved, most notably in my burpees. I was not able to do 100 burpees in a row despite trying for many years. After about a month of daily breathing, I did 100 consecutive burpees and set an all-time PR. Nothing else was different in my schedule, diet, sleep, or training. The only thing I added was the breathing and cold water. Below, these are Wim Hof’s own instructions found on his website. You can choose to either listen to the guided instructions in the video above or follow the written instructions below. TRY IT OUT! Wim Hof Method breathing is simple and easy — everyone can do it! Just follow the steps below. We recommend practicing right after waking, or before a meal when your stomach is still empty. Note that WHM breathing can affect motor control and, in rare cases, lead to loss of consciousness. Always sit or lie down before practicing the techniques. Never practice while piloting a vehicle, or in or near bodies of water. If that is not enough info for you, you can watch a Vice documentary and more in the article about this challenge HERE. I'm talking with Paul Hart from the Animated Batcast! We start off talking about the upcoming animated Batman Hush movie slated for release on July 20th and spend a bit of time talking kung fu flicks as I had just finished watching Ip Man prior to recording. It's on Netflix. Check it out! The episode gets progressively ridiculous from here. We even desecrate Mickey Mouse Clubhouse at one point. The second half gets pretty NSFW in terms of subject matter when I introduce Paul to the Try It Out guy. Then we discuss Paul's dating life and he asks for my helps in writing his Bumble profile. I fail miserably, but you can pick up the slack and really help Paul out! Send in your thoughts on how Paul should be writing his profile. We finish in true dumpster fire fashion. I rap Beastie Boys for a bit. Paul raps Nellie. Listen, Mommies. It will be tough to top last weeks monumental achievement in podcasting, but we are going to "Try It Out." This week we meet a man who Duncan Trussell exposed Dr. Drew to recently. He's definitely a Cool Guy. Tom celebrated his 40th birthday, what did Christina get him?? A chain or a private jet?? Doug Mellard got ALL of us the gift of a weird Happy Birthday serenade. Christina had a shower revelation that even bewilders the Cockroach himself. Since we had Robert Paul Champagne on the Podcast he has been live streaming quite a bit. We review some of his recent posts and then give him another call. That's right, Robert Paul Champagne is BACK! Also, the legendary Dane Cook is on the couch ready to "Try It Out." Dane and the Mommies reminisce about old times at Dublin's in Hollywood and Dane goes through the roller coaster that he experienced while reaching heights of fame few ever get to know. He goes in depth about his brother stealing from him and his reasoning for improvising his special that was taped in Madison Square Garden "Rough Around The Edges." Also, Dane experiences a member of "The Cool Girl Club" and "Horrible or Hilarious." Next in the Mommydome is comedian Ryan Stout. Ryan can't smell anything, he literally has no sense of smell. The Mommies ask Ryan all the important questions involved with not being able to smell a fart or otherwise. Ryan brings up the "Maplethorpe Exhibit" and if you know what that is, you know what that is... Plus Mommy Tina thinks airpods looks like something coming out of your ears. Do you know what she thinks it looks like??? Don't forget to get Ryan's new album, Man in the Suit. NOTE: Every guest of YOUR MOM'S HOUSE Podcast is INVITATION ONLY. No guest is welcome with out a formal invitation from The Mommies. Dane Cook, Ryan Stout and Robert Paul Champagne have all been certified, invited guests. Thank you.
Following Passover and Easter, The Mommies bring us the MOST holy day ever... Today we speak to the "Try It Out" guy, Robert! But before that we learn about Tom and Christina's first date when the Mommies ponder what dating would be like now. There is a Men's Hugging Group, which seems to be strictly social by nature!! Who on the YMH staff has the longest body hair?? We find out and award Zim with a Perfect Package from MANSCAPED. FINALLY.... ITS HAPPENING. The "Try It Out" guy is on the phone with Tom and Christina! We learn the answers to all of the questions we've always been wondering about and then some. We're home here now! Last, but certainly not least, from KIDS IN THE HALL it's Scott Thompson! Tom has had some of his dream guests on and now it's Christina's turn to fan-girl! Scott tells the mommies how he has PTSD from the AIDS epidemic in the 80's and discusses all the nitty gritty involved in his world at that time. Scott opens our eyes to a side of gay culture that we rarely think about. We also hear about Scott's K.I.T.H character Buddy Cole as well as another of Christina's favorites, and his future. This episode was hardcore fun and we know you mommies will love it just as much as we did!

We're back with AN EVEN MORE EPIC DRAFT SHOW (not really) as D and Draven break down the Alpha and Beta Draft as we draft people who are company killers, followed by people who are true alpha males in every sense of the word. It sounds great on paper but it turned out to be one of the worst shows we've ever done near the end SO WE APOLOGIZE, but fuck it... TRY IT OUT! Maybe you'll like it! We're like Ray Stevens, even at 10% we're still better than 99.5% of all other wrestling podcasts!
