Indie Star Insider - Eric From Boiling Point @boilingpointband

Passionate vocals and memorable guitar hooks set Boiling Point apart from the status quo. More importantly, what keeps people coming back is the band's emotional depth and willingness to be real with their fans through their songs, their live performances and their life's example. Boiling Point have been steadily growing as an act since their first full length release “Rules Of The Broken” in 2010. The 2012 follow up EP “If Love” showcased the band's growing both lyrically and sonically. With their 3rd release “More” on September 16, 2014 the band's goal was to delight their loyal fan-base and expand upon it by exciting those hearing their music for the first time. Boiling Point's 4th effort, "More: Sessions & Remixes," released in December of 2015, built upon the success they found with "More." The band's latest release, "Take Courage" is being lauded as the bands best effort yet with songs already charting on Billboard. Boiling Point's dynamic live performances have positioned them to share the stage with such CCM Stars as Switchfoot, Third Day, Thousand Foot Krutch, Kari Jobe, and Red. It's also taken them to some lofty stages in front of large audiences: Lifelight Fesival – 2012 & 2014; Minnesota State Fair - 2012, 2013 & 2014; Sonshine Festival - 2012 & 2014; and Schwan's USA Youth Cup (Main Stage Featured band – 15,000) 2014. The band also hones its live craft with performances throughout the Midwest with performances at churches, Youth Camps, and retreats. Other career highlights include exposure through ESPN College Football Live (songs used for weekly highlights throughout the 2012 and 2013 College Seasons) and Frequent use of songs by KSTP-45 TV (Twin Cities) to promote prep sports in Minnesota (both for game use and promotional TV spots). Boiling Point has over 57 million cumulative YouTube views via various videos.Boiling Point has also experienced significant success on radio for an independent band. Their song "Stay With Me" reached #12 on the CMW charts, while their songs "Put Your Hands Up" & "Brand New Day" rose to #9 and #7, respectively. The band's name demonstrates its thoughtful nature and range of emotions. The boiling point is that point at which water evaporates – representing a fundamental change even while the elements remain the same. At the boiling point, we are energized and dispersed. The band hopes to reflect that enormous energy while recognizing the cathartic change and the challenges that remain even after the boiling point has been reached. Boiling Point's music harnesses the fun, exciting parts of life, but is not afraid to explore the deeply challenging times we all face. Energetic new songs like “More,” “Brand New Day” and “Put Your Hands Up” mix with emotionally raw and haunting songs like “When You've Lost It All” and “Reason.” The band believes that a person can experience this same type of change after encountering God. While this is the driving force behind Boiling Point, they differ by using a less literal approach to songwriting. The lyrics are more subtle and nuanced, and do not always address faith literally, but they will always reflect a positive position that will lead a person in a quest for a positive answer to a difficult question. Boiling Point believes that we live in a world where the sacred and the secular, while being separately defined, are inextricably interwoven. The result of this "marriage of ideology" is intended to emphasize the positive response to one's need for clarity of life. The band appeals to both religious and secular audiences, striving to always communicate a message of hope and grace through its lyrics and music.

Indie Star Insider - Jesse Kramer

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 17, 2021 48:46

Jesse Kramer's story is as authentic as it is unpredictable. It's a story of struggle, adversity and rebirth. A story still in its preface as the young 24 year old singer and songwriter from Indianapolis, who now resides in Nashville, seeks to kick-start the official rebirth of rock n' roll for the modern world.“Rock n' roll is NOT dead! It thrives on lives with struggle, passion and soul,” Jesse emphatically claims. “It takes guts, focus, and drive. I hope to become the modern world's reminder that rock n' roll still exists, and is an avenue which people can channel emotions and thoughts through music, just as I do.”From a very early age in life, Jesse Kramer always knew that music and singing were his only genuine means of communicating his personal thoughts and feelings on life. His old soul from within began guiding his thoughts and decisions in high school at the age of 14. That's when he first began writing and recording his own music after growing up listening to a wide range of artists like Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marilyn Manson, Chris Cornell and even Eminem. Jesse quickly developed his own distinctive and gritty sound by balancing elements of rock n' roll, soul, and R&B music. Something he now simply refers to as “The Jesse Kramer Sound.”At the age of 17, after growing up in a strict religious household where everything about the way he should live his life was prescribed, Jesse was given an ultimatum by his parents: Choose whether to continue playing music and be kicked out of the house, or put the guitar and mic down for good, and pursue a life as dictated by religion. He chose to carry on with music, and faced a period of homelessness by couch-surfing and sleeping in his car, even while still in high school, but in the name of pursuing his dreams of bringing rock n' roll back.“As I grew older I became more awoke, as music broadened my ability to see real truth and understanding,” Jesse explained. “More than just what religion was teaching me growing up. Music is universal and is able to be seen, created, and felt. Just as some say how God is like the wind.”In 2014 after he turned 18, Jesse decided to move from Indianapolis to Nashville to get serious about pursuing his ambitions as a songwriter. Thus, once again redirecting his life's trajectory much to his family's apprehension, he picked up and moved on.“Nashville has been what I consider my College, as I had chosen to leave my full-ride to traditional College in Indianapolis, due to life circumstances,” Jesse articulated. “Nashville has definitely taught me a lot about the life of a musician. It's definitely a cool town to get your feet wet in, but I don't believe this is somewhere I will be forever. It has definitely given me the education I needed, so I can apply it to the way I like to do things.”In 2018 his determination and hard work began to pay off when he was discovered and personally invited by the Executive Producers of FOX-TV Networks to perform on season 2 of their music competition series The Four: Battle for Stardom. During his auditions, Jesse gave rousing and soulful performances of Jeff Buckley's “Hallelujah,” Jimi Hendrix's “All Along The WatchTower,” Joe Cocker's “You Are So Beautiful,” and others, impressing both the studio audience and the show's executive judge panel consisting of Sean Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and Fergie. In 2019 Jesse released his first five song EP called Breakthrough of original music he wrote, recorded and self-produced. Later that year - just before the worldwide COVID-pandemic would shut down much of the TV & Music industry - Jesse was invited to audition and perform on season 15 of NBC's popular TV show America's Got Talent, which began airing in 2020. Covering Lady Gaga's pop hit song “Bad Romance” Jesse's vibration and intensity once again brought the studio audience to their feet, this time receiving a standing ovation. Even legendary music industry executive Simon Cowell blessed Jesse not only with his respect, but with his undivided attention, noting he “Really, really, really enjoyed your performance. You have my respect for coming onto this show.”In 2020 Jesse released his second EP of original music; Quarantunes (part 1/2) written in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Once again the songs illustrate his musical depth, as he dives into his more than 200+ catalog of original songs. Now at 24, the ambitious and up-and-coming Rockstar in the making is staying busy with touring, recording new music, and building upon his blossoming songwriting career, while his fan base continues growing rapidly. This Fall Jesse will release new music, and music lovers will once again hear how Jesse transcends a sound that is not only reminiscent of years past, but new, fresh, and authentic for the modern world. A sound that is fastly becoming regarded as a genuinely one-of-a-kind, giving him the ability to bring a wide range of music lovers together.“I think the best way to really understand the world is through music. I would like people to feel and vibe with me, and to let them know there is still authentic, raw and genuine music out there. Simply put, I want my music to really touch people... and I am ready to do whatever it takes and go anywhere I must to make that happen.”

Dubbed as having a vocal register similar to Adele (GAFFA) and for having a ‘Powerful and killer voice' from Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) and Phil Campbell (Motörhead) it's no wonder Clare Cunningham is making waves across the world with her music. Steve Cropper (Blues Brothers) who features on Clare's latest single 'Heart of Mine' has said ' Clare has such a tremendous voice. She makes me want to play because she sings with passion and feeling.' Cunningham, who was raised in Collon, Co. Louth, the smallest village in Ireland, had a flare for music and singing from a very young age. At just 5 she exclaimed ‘I want to be a rock star when I grow up' and she did just that! By the time Cunningham turned 6 she started learning classical piano playing Mozart by the age of 8 and continued to do so for the following 10 years until she pickedup the guitar and self taught at the age of 16. This was the start of her budding song-writing career, she was highly praised by Irelands own singer songwriter ‘Juliet Turner' and spent the week at a song-writing camp hosted by Turner herself. She saw the natural talent Cunningham possessed for writing and told her this was most definitely the path she needed to embark on.Cunningham took Turner's advice and moved to Dublin after high school where she secured a national diploma in Popular Music performance and technology. With this at hand she then headed overseas and studied at the ‘London College of music' (Vocal Tech) where Cunningham had her first TV appearance on ‘Sky TV' singing one of her own penned songs. Graduating with a BA Hon's Degree in Music Performance and Technology, Cunningham moved to Cardiff, Wales UK where she started up her own business and become a professional singer. She created a 70's classic rock line up called ‘Smokin Aces', who were both a covers and originals band and were very popular all across the country. It was thanks to ‘Smokin Aces' and Cunningham's decision to put up some material onto YouTube which landed her the position of lead singer for the very successful Swedish all female rock quintet ‘Thundermother'. The five hard-core rock chicks had major success in the rock charts and landed a signing with ‘Warner Music' Sweden for their first album ‘Rock n Roll Disaster.' A signing with ‘Despotz Records' (Sweden) then followed the release of their second album ‘Road Fever' gaining support from artists such as ‘Mötorhead, Airbourne, D.A.D, Zakk Wylde, Halestorm, Michael Monroe, In Flames, Opeth, Danko Jones and many more, touring all over Europe and playing some of the biggest European festivals including ‘Sweden Rock Festival', ‘Bravalla', ‘Alcatraz', ‘Getaway Rock Festival' and many more. Cunningham decided to leave Thundermother in January 2017 and is now putting all her focus on her solo career.Cunningham released her self -titled debut solo EP in November 2016, with ‘Low Medium High Records' selling copies all over the world and is just a taste of what Cunningham can do. She isn't afraid to tell the truth, get raw and use the spirits of country, folk and rock when it serves her greater purpose.Clare now resides in the USA (Nashville predominantly) where she is taking it by storm having already played at 'The Nantucket Project' (2018) and at world renowned 'Sundance film Festival' (2019) She had a song placement in a Lionsgate movie (Bernie the Dolphin 2) in December 2019. January 2020, she signed with Symphonic Distribution, distributing all her material through them. Clare's latest project has been recorded at iconic RCA studios, on music Row in Nashville. The band on the recording consist of Audley Freed on Guitar (Sheryl Crowe, The Chicks, Black Crows, Joe Perry) Steve Mackey on bass (Garth Brooke's, Dolly Parton) and Jared Kneale on drums (Lauren Daigle, Kacey Musgraves) The first single off the project 'Heart Of Mine' was released July 3rd, 2020, featuring special guest Steve Cropper. To date, Clare's achievements include : ‘Aint your momma' (title of album and song Clare co-wrote with Rhonda Funk) is up for consideration for a GRAMMY nomination 2021 ‘Best Alternative Song' for ‘Carry Me' (World Songwriting Awards, spring 2020) 'Best Pop Song' for 'Heart Of Mine' (World Songwriting Awards, summer 2020) ‘Songwriter of the year' (silver) at the International Singer Songwriter Awards (ISSA)‘Folk Americana artist of the Year' (Josie awards 2020) ‘Folk Americana song of the year for ‘Angel of the Emerald Isle (Josie awards 2020)

The Metal Byrds band are born musicians. London born Suzanne Birdie, has a power-pop rock voice, that compliments Sly Rye's ripping rock riffs and lead guitar solos in every song! These catchy songs are throwback to a time where female front-women dominated the radio waves with rocking sounds. A time where Hair Bands and Classic Rock & Roll ruled the world."Our sound comes from our individual influences over the decades. Sly Rye's guitar playing style has been influenced anywhere from classic rock all the way from metal to alternative rock. Suzanne's singing style is heavily influenced by all the great women in rock history. From Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, Stevie Nicks and Heart. We are not the typical cookie-cutter sounding rock band, and if you listen closely, you will hear a sound like none-other." says the band of creating songs together. The Metal Byrds have received rotation on both international and national radio stations and have a fan base that keeps on growing. Lead Vocalist Jake Segura grew up in a small town where his taste in music was not appreciated, so he never pursued songwriting seriously as a teenager. As a college student, he began to struggle with manic depression, anxiety, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. After spending days in bed at a time and flunking out of school, he found himself too afraid to ask for help for fear of the judgement of others. In November of 2015, he attempted suicide. Segura penned the lyrics to Let It Burn on a napkin from his hospital bed, a song that would be released on the band's debut E.P. Caroline. That experience gave him the drive to finally take his pursuit of music seriously with a strong desire to write music that would help combat mental illness stigma and help others struggling to know they are not alone. The band name Citizen Soldier is the band's attempt to personify the battles waged inside and the band's goal to shine a light on the everyday struggles of those who feel overlooked and unappreciated.
