Art Grueneberger talks about how he decentralized his puppetry business. Cody Clark explains how to sell your show to specialty markets. He discusses how to get into fringe festivals, how to build relationships with organizations, how to get onto TV, and how to build a show that your audience wants to see. Cody is a 25 year old professional magician and autistic self-advocate from Louisville, KY. He was diagnosed as autistic at 15 months and his parents were told he’d never walk, talk, get married, or have a job. Instead, he had a wonderful childhood and at the age of 11, was so inspired by participating on stage at a magic show that he became a magician. He joined the Louisville Magic Club, studied at the Jeff McBride Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas, and used his Bachelors degree in Marketing/Theatre Arts from the University of Louisville to learn how to run his business. His flagship show is A Different Way of Thinking, a 45 minute theatrical magic show which weaves his experiences living with autism into his magic routines. He performs this show on the U.S. Fringe Festival circuit, in middle/high schools, and directly for autism organizations. He's also developed a 30 minute sensory friendly magic show for audiences with moderate to severe disabilities, and he has a children's magic show themed to railroading called Conductor Cody. He discusses why you should take time to write a description, how to use it most effectively in your promotional material, and how to use it draw people to your shows. Bruce wrote and performed a solo show titled, “Don't Make Me Look Too Psychotic”. It was scheduled to run for 18 performances in San Francisco but continued for 68 weeks. He played Philadelphia for four months and reopened in San Francisco for another 13 weeks. “Psychotic’s" remarkable run had an unexpected result. Other solo performers engaged Bruce to guide their marketing and publicity campaigns. His client list has grown to include theaters, dance and opera companies, bands, improv groups, and comedians. Bruce spent four years as the marketing director of Pocket Opera and has worked extensively with W. Kamau Bell Productions as a producer, publicist, and marketing director. In addition to all this, Bruce has produced numerous shows in the Bay area. He is currently the co-producer of Solo Sundays, a solo performance series which is now in its 9th year. Vincent Carbone discusses how the Morris-Jumel Mansion grew from 5,000 visitors to 25,000 visitors over three years. He talks about why they started to focus on special events to grow their attendance, the various types of events they produce, and how they plan and organize their events. Vincent Carbone was born and raised on Long Island. After high school, he attended the State University of New York, College at Brockport where he developed a passion for theatre administration and directing. Upon graduating in 2010 with a BS in Theatre and a BA in Communications, Vincent experienced working in a professional setting through a performance internship at Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY. In 2015, he started working as the public programming and events manager at the Morris-Jumel Mansion. Vincent has developed several new annual events focusing on introducing the Mansion to a younger audience while being sure not to alienate its more traditional guests. This position has also allowed Vincent to gain media recognition for his other life-long passion- ghost hunting. He has facilitated lectures at Columbia University's Teachers College and the Morris-Jumel Mansion where he leads bi-monthly paranormal investigations. Shawn Rawls discusses 3 ways to engage with your patrons to increase sales. Shawn talks about how he does this through his newsletter, with the help of his dancers, and his honorary committee. Shawn grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and studied martial arts and street dance from a young age. At sixteen, he attended the Cleveland School of the Arts and began dancing with Youth At Risk Dancing and the Urban Dance Collective. These youth company experiences provided him with training from Paul Taylor, Pilobolus, and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. In 2010, Shawn graduated with a B. F. A. in performance and choreography from Belhaven University. Shawn is now a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer in New York City. He trained at Broadway Dance Center, Steps, Peridance, and with artists like Mia Michaels from So You Think You Can Dance. Shawn has performed with over a dozen dance companies throughout the United States and abroad. As a freelance choreographer for more than seven years, he recently won the first round of the NYC XYZ choreography competition and placed runner up in the final round. Shawn's choreography has been featured in Dancing Wheels and the Roxey Ballet. Shawn is the founder and artistic director of Emotions Physical Theatre, a dance company that performs in New York and around the United States.
