The echoes of past traumas often linger long after their initial impact, shaping our self-image and world view in ways we struggle to articulate. On my latest episode of Real Talk, Real Woman Breaking the Silence around Abuse, I'm joined by Raven Rae, a remarkable survivor whose story of healing and triumph over childhood sexual abuse and loss offers a beacon of hope. Raven's bravery in recounting her experiences not only sheds light on the struggles with body dysmorphia she faced as a teen but also illuminates the transformative power of finding one's voice through therapy and meditation.     Raven, dubbed the "professional butterfly," embodies resilience and self-love, bringing an impassioned message to listeners from all backgrounds, be it seasoned professionals or those just embarking on their journey of self-discovery. As she generously opens her heart to our audience, she reminds us of the strength that lies in authenticity and the importance of continuous personal growth. For those touched by Raven's story and seeking to follow her ongoing work, links to her social media on Facebook and Instagram at Raven Ray Official are provided in the description. Join us for a conversation that's not just heart-touching but also offers a powerful testament to the human spirit's capacity to metamorphose pain into empowerment.   Raven's bio Raven Rae is an eclectic recording artist, author, CEO/Founder of Black Leaf Naturals (Black Leaf Naturals is a natural/vegan wellness brand centered around self care and mental health.) and performer who bridges the gap between the classics and the contemporary. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Raven got her start singing in the church, and received her musical training from Cleveland School of the Arts and Columbia College Chicago. Raven released her first Ep Borderline in 2019 where she shares her story and explores societal themes rarely discussed surrounding mental health in the black community. Followed by the release of her second album "Metamorphosis" in September 2020. Centered around her “caterpillar to butterfly” transformation throughout her self-care journey; and “Believe in love” released in June of 2021, about her self-love journey.   Raven is the author of Butterfly Language, a transformative personal development memoir available on Amazon.   Connect with Raven Raven Rae  Book: https://a.co/d/iXxOYlY Website/Music: www.ravenraeofficial.com  Instagram: https://instagram.com/ravenraeofficial YouTube: https://youtu.be/s8OSBZau2NU Facebook: Raven Rae - https://www.facebook.com/Ravenraeofficial/

Welcome to Season 3, Episode 2! It's probably a good bet that you remember the school names and communities of Columbine, Parkland, and Sandy Hook… not to mention so many other recent school shootings. But before most of those happened was the Cleveland School Massacre in Stockton on January 17, 1989. As we approach 34 years since this incident, we don't know why it's generally ignored nowadays, but it shouldn't be. When we talk about forgotten massacres, it's understandable that events have been forgotten from a hundred years ago or more… but when something is only a few decades ago and was the worst school shooting in history at that time… it boggles our minds that it's largely ignored or forgotten. In this episode we talk about the Cleveland Elementary Shooting as well as the shooter, a 24-year-old white supremacist named Patrick Purdy. Although we spend a good amount of time going into his background, that is not to develop excuses for his horrible actions… only to illustrate how many years and opportunities there were for someone… anyone… to realize his racist rants and questionable behavior should have been called out. Anti-Asian violence doesn't happen randomly.  We recommend reading the report on the event provided to Attorney General John Van De Kamp as well as supporting the group Cleveland School Remembers. Since Kevin Greene moved to the US from Jamaica at age 6 he's always been hustling. Entrepreneurship was his personality, but at times it wouldn't be fully expressed. In 2006 Kevin got a job at T-Mobile, and quickly realized that the corporate world didn't take kindly to conflict. The same voice that made him such a great entrepreneur, held him back in the corporate world. Although he was passed by for promotions, he did gain insight into mobile phone industry. This would eventually lead him to create Faces International in 2012, a mobile marketing and development firm. Diving deeper into his knack for spotting a trend Kevin noticed the high growth potential of Cannabis and decided someone needed to step in to educationally legitimize the industry. In order to fulfill the need for a qualified workforce in the rapidly-growing cannabis industry, Kevin co-founded the Cleveland School of Cannabis in 2018, the first and only school for cannabis with national accreditation. https://csceducation.com/ Subscribe to our Newsletter! https://findingfounders.co/subscribe Website: findingfounders.co Follow Sam: https://www.instagram.com/samueldonner/ Follow Finding Founders IG: https://www.instagram.com/findingfounderspodcast/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/finding-founders/support

Conversations about race, equity, and inclusion are not new to K-12 classrooms. From studying MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech to the analysis of works by poet Maya Angelou, these discussions have been necessary components in lessons on history, literature, and art for decades.rnrnYet, in response to sudden outrage over Critical Race Theory, the Ohio state legislature has introduced two bills that ban "divisive concepts" - a broad definition that leaves much to interpretation and has put many routine classroom conversations in jeopardy.rnrnWhat will be at stake if these conversations are prohibited in schools? Why are honest conversations about race, equity, and inclusion important in K-12 education?rnrnJoin the City Club for a virtual conversation with local voices at the heart of the matter: John Adams, Department Chair for History, Cleveland School of Science and Medicine at John Hay High School; Melissa Cropper, President of the Ohio Federation of Teachers; Owen Ganor, Student at Rocky River High School; and Sarah Rintamaki, a parent of two children in the Westlake City Schools.

The masterful crooner is back on point with his seventh album, Face the Music (Feb. 5, 2013). Inspired by the R&B legends—Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Luther Vandross and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds—who have been guiding lights in Avant’s career, the project marks the singer’s first release on the Capitol/EMI-distributed independent label Mo-B. But the set does more than just pay homage to R&B masters. Thanks to Avant’s inventiveness, Face the Music cooks up a tantalizing blend of contemporary and traditional sounds. Jumpstarting the buzz about the forthcoming album is lead single “You & I,” Avant’s long-anticipated reunion with duet partner Keke Wyatt. Already a top 10 hit on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart and currently climbing the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally, the searing love ballad revisits the natural magic Avant and Wyatt conjured on their first hit together, “My First Love.” Like many R&B singers, Avant got his start singing in the church choir. After attending Cleveland School of the Arts, he became the first act signed to NBA legend Magic Johnson’s MCA-distributed label, Magic Johnson Music (MJM). Avant’s 2000 MJM debut album, My Thoughts, spun off the Billboard No. 1 R&B hit “Separated.” That was followed by the top five hit “My First Love,” a cover of the 1983 Ren&eac
