What happens when the limits of traditional chip design collide with the relentless demand for AI and high-performance computing? In today's episode, I sit down with Abhijeet Chakraborty from Synopsys to explore how multi-die chip architectures are redefining the future of semiconductors. With Moore's Law slowing and the complexity of computing workloads skyrocketing, the industry is turning to multi-die solutions to push the boundaries of performance, scalability, and efficiency. Synopsys is at the heart of this transformation, powering more than 95% of the world's advanced chip designs. As AI, IoT, and next-gen computing drive an insatiable need for faster, more efficient processors, the semiconductor industry is undergoing a radical shift. By 2035, the multi-die chip market is expected to reach $411 billion, with at least 50% of new HPC chip designs set to be multi-die or 3D by the end of 2025. Abhijeet walks us through the breakthroughs in Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe), the growing role of silicon lifecycle management, and how Synopsys is pioneering multi-die integration to help companies accelerate time-to-market while balancing power, performance, and cost. We also discuss how AI itself is being used to optimize semiconductor design, ensuring these complex chip architectures remain reliable and efficient. With major industry players investing heavily in this technology, the semiconductor landscape is at a critical inflection point. But what are the biggest challenges in making multi-die architectures mainstream? How will innovations in packaging, interposers, and hybrid bonding influence adoption? And with AI models demanding unprecedented levels of compute power, can multi-die designs truly keep pace with the ever-expanding capabilities of artificial intelligence? Join us for this deep dive into the future of semiconductors, the rise of chiplets, and why the next decade will be defined by radical shifts in computing architecture. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts—where do you see the future of chip design heading, and what challenges do you think the industry must overcome?

Institutional Portfolio Manager Abhijeet Singh joins the show today to take us through the current landscape of emerging markets around the world, and to discuss the investment themes shaping Fidelity Emerging Markets Fund. Abhijeet points out that a potential U.S. rate cut could benefit emerging markets by alleviating pressures from a strong dollar and high U.S. rates, which have historically posed challenges. He highlights specific regions like Brazil and Mexico, where maintaining higher interest rates has helped stabilize currencies despite well-controlled inflation. He contrasts the investment appeal of countries like China, with attractive valuations amid economic stabilization efforts, against India, where high valuations have tempered investment enthusiasm. In terms of sectors, he favors materials and consumer sectors but advises caution in tech due to inflated valuations. He highlights the benefits of a balanced growth at a reasonable price strategy, which positions the Fidelity Emerging Markets Fund to capitalize on diverse opportunities while managing risk and global uncertainties. This is the Catch Up on 3 Things for the Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain. It's the 9th of May and here are today's headlines.A day after announcing that he would back the Opposition Congress against the BJP government in Haryana, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala announced today that he has written to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya seeking a floor test in the Assembly. The Congress followed suit by seeking an appointment with the governor on May 10 to “present a memorandum regarding the present political situation in the state”. Meanwhile, Congress Legislature Party leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda replied to Chautala's statement, quote “All our 30 MLAs are intact, but the issue is that his [Dushyant's] MLAs are running here and there. First, he should analyse if he has all his MLAs intact…it would have been better if Dushyant had paraded all his MLAs in front of the governor. Today we are joined by Abhijeet Singh, Institutional Portfolio Manager of the Emerging Markets Fund. He gives us an overview of his fund and his thoughts on investment opportunities he's keeping an eye on. Abby shares his thoughts on China's slow growth. A lot of consumers are sitting on cash and not spending. Abby says valuations do look attractive in China, so they are overweight China relative to the benchmark weight. They anticipate the valuation gap will close over time. He adds the Chinese-US relationship is crucial and a good sign where both economies need each other. On the other side, Abby says the valuations in India are expensive, which includes all sectors in comparison to Emerging Markets or Developed markets. He says because of this they're underweight India. So far the picks they do have are working very well. He adds the consumer story in India is much smaller than in China. However, he thinks we'll see a large number of companies going public in the next 5 to 10 years. Abby also discusses the US dollar, AI and Aerospace as a current area of interest. In this episode, I invited Abhijeet Anand - Founder of abCoffee, a brand which is on a mission to bring specialty coffee to every Indian at affordable rates. Specialty premium coffee is not yet mainstream in India. The Indian middle class doesn't consume freshly brewed coffee on a daily basis. The prime reason? It is extremely costly. Abhijeet understood that, when he went on a trail across India to taste coffee brewed in different parts of the country. And that's how the idea of abCoffee was born. With abCoffee, Abhijeet wants to democratize specialty coffee. He wants to brew premium coffee that caters to the Indian palate. abCoffee is unique in the sense that it's not a café or a restaurant but a 'deck' where you can come in, grab your coffee, meet new people & be on your way. As for Abhijeet, I think he is the perfect representation of the brand. Young. Energetic. Passionate. Agile. Talking to him was an absolute pleasure & after recording this episode I had the chance to meet him in person & I got my hands on their Classic Cold Coffee, which was absolutely amazing! We spoke about a range of topics on this episode like: (02:53) – The mysterious man & his journey: Abhijeet Anand (04:44) – What were the events that led Abhijeet to start his own venture? (07:49) – Planning 15 years into the future & working backwards – what is AA's modus operandi? (11:50) – When were the seeds to start a specialty coffee chain sown in AA's mind? (22:28) – A trail across the heart of India to validate the idea for abCoffee (28:45) – Harnessing technology to engineer a cup of coffee + introducing a culture of ‘Grab & Go' (36:48) – What is a Coffee deck? (41:25) – Execution, Execution, Execution (46:13) – What are the BLOCKERS to Growth? (49:17) – Coffee myths & fun facts (55:29) – abCoffee: The story behind the name If you're based out in Mumbai I would really recommend checking out their Coffee decks @ Versova & Powai!

At the first PRCA EIAC Conference in September this year, Kantar launched its 2022 Inclusion Index. The Inclusion Index covers 24 industries across 14 countries and 18000 respondents. For Kantar a key purpose of the report, is to enable organisations to understand, measure and track and their own progress in developing an inclusive workplaces. Interestingly, there is data from key markets and geographies - so it is easier to figure out progress or lack of in markets. A shocking but not surprising finding is that DEI progress has stalled. Does this mean that the rhetoric by organisations on equity & inclusion does not match action? From my conversations in the UK, Middle-East and India, I hear the word fatigue a lot during conversations on DEI. What is clear from the report, however, is that employees, customers and clients are noticing the push on DEI but that is not enough with shifting employee expectations and businesses have to work harder to reach the new bar. According to the report,” Employees want businesses to go beyond DEI campaigns and cultural days. They want to see a stronger focus on driving systemic change.” To understand the data and insights better, I spoke with Nadach Musungu, Inclusion Lead at Kantar and Abhijeet Roy, Senior Growth Leader at Kantar in this episode of The Elephant in the Room podcast. We started with a conversation on Nadach's career and journey so far
