This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, guest Krista Martin and Karen discuss why you should have courage and how you can make sales fun. Krista Martin is the president and founder of Make Your Mark. She teaches coaches how to attract more clients, make more money, and create a bigger impact. She's also the founder of the Six Figure Impact Academy and takes a stand for helping her clients build six-figure businesses. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: Does the word sales sound icky to you? Does it make you squirm and think, “I could never enjoy that”? Perhaps the reason a lot of people feel this way about sales is that they’re looking at it from the wrong perspective. The goal of sales is to answer someone’s problems and fulfill their needs. How do you do this? Start by serving them. Learn who they are, what they need, and cater to those needs. Even if someone chooses to not buy from you immediately, they’re sure to remember how you tried to help them instead of “selling” to them. It’s no secret, though, that you have to have confidence when making sales. As Krista Marin likes to remind herself, lend a cup of courage. Believe in yourself, invest in yourself, and soon you’ll have the courage you need to make sales fun! Learn more about how to invest in your confidence in this episode with Krista Martin! Karen shares how you can claim a piece of the pie for yourself! #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: In an absolutely mind-blowing statistic, women in 2019 collectively made 500+ billion dollars less than their male counterparts. You read that right… in 2019! We, as women, need to work together to claim our chunk of that 500+ billion dollars that is just sitting there for us in 2021. How can we make this happen? Your Mindset Having the right mindset is critical to success. Who is it that you want to be? Adjust your mindset and identify as the person who will achieve success and take her part of the 500+ billion dollars. The Math Next, look at your business and ask yourself the questions, “Does the math work?” Can you see the pathway to the number you’re wanting to achieve in your business? If not, now is the time to look at your products and services, ask yourself how you can ramp them up, and create a $20k offer you only have to sell one of per month. The People Who are you spending your time with? Are you spending time with people who drag you down to a poverty mindset, or are you around people who lift you up? Don’t abandon the people in your life, but make sure you’re spending a lot of your time around people who are thinking bigger. As we’re nearing 2021, let’s work together to bust the gender wage gap and claim our chunk of the 500+ billion dollars! This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen discusses simplifying the tasks in your business. It’s easy to get caught up in the routine of performing certain tasks just because they’re on the list of things to do. Are those things actually benefiting you or your business, though? #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: The COVID-19 pandemic has been a crazy time for everyone. It has also given a lot of us more time on our hands. Instead of going to network meetings and going on lunch dates, we’re stuck at home. Thankfully, we can use this extra time to reevaluate our business, remove what we don’t enjoy, and start doing more of what we love. First, ask yourself the question, “What do I really enjoy doing?” Don’t ask what you’re good at or skilled at. Ask what you enjoy. Then start focusing on what you love doing! Second, take a look at your calendar. What events on your calendar make you cringe? What can’t you stand doing? Start cutting those events out! If you hate them and they’re not beneficial, don’t do them. Lastly, lean into your pricing. Instead of selling multiple low-cost items and services, dream big and ask yourself, “How could I make this more valuable and sell it for a higher price?” By raising your prices, you can make more money while spending less time and effort. This takes guts, but, in the end, it’s worth it. It’s easy to clutter our business with tasks that don’t really bring any value. Start looking at your company, cut out the things that don’t matter, and start living with more freedom! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the emails, phone calls, marketing plans, financial meetings… sound familiar? If you’re a one-person business, it’s time that you create a team. Once you have a team, you’ll find you have more time on your hands to focus on growing your business… that is, of course, if you and your team have good tools to collaborate. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen reflects on the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ruth Bader Ginsburg showed up and made a change in the world. Just like her, we have the ability to make a change, and RBG left us amazing examples of how to stand up against the crowd. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: On September 18, 2020, the world lost Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was a champion for women’s rights, and there are so many great things that we can learn from her. RBG didn’t accept unfair treatment just because that was how things were. When she had the ability, she showed up and did the good that she could do. And when she did something that went again the majority, she did it with confidence. That warrants the question… are there areas in our lives where we should be showing up and making a difference? It’s easy to get stuck in the mundane way of doing things and to follow the crowd. But with more visibility comes greater responsibility. It’s time to start following RBG’s example and ask ourselves, “Where can I make a difference?” When it’s your turn to step up and make a change, do it with confidence. Trust your gut, trust your expertise, and trust yourself. When you champion for change, it’s true that you’ll most likely face opposition. But just like the advice RGB followed, it helps to be a little deaf. When someone says something offensive, it’s best to tune them out, stop yourself from getting angry, and work on the backend to make a change. You can make a change. You just have to show up. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares the 5 steps to make success inevitable. Success doesn’t happen by accident. It takes careful, well thought-out planning. These 5 steps set you on the right path to achieving success. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: Are you ready to achieve your goals and succeed? Of course you are! Start by taking a look at your business, and follow these 5 simple steps to make success inevitable: 1) Know Your Monthly Number To start off, decide how much money you need to make each month. This gives you a set goal to achieve. Determine your yearly sales goal, then divide that by twelve. Don’t forget to DREAM BIG! 2) Decide what Goes into Reaching that Number Next, determine what products and services go into reaching that monthly number, then think about the number of products and services you need to sell. Maybe you need five more students to join your yoga class each month. Perhaps you need to sell 10 more books. Knowing the number of products and services you need to sell makes the sales goal attainable. 3) Do Some Historical Research Take a look at your past months of business. Which month was your best month? Why? How many sales calls did you make? Find out what you did that month that made it so successful and use that as a guide to making your future months as successful – if not more successful! 4) Research Your LinkedIn Connections Now take a look at your LinkedIn connections from last month. How many people did you connect with? How many of those connections turned into meaningful phone calls? Determine what you did right that resulted in more phone calls and how many more connections you should make each month. 5) Make Success Inevitable By now, you have everything you need to make success inevitable. With what you discovered, now you can tweak your plan going forward. Maybe you need to sell more products. Maybe you need to connect with more people. Whatever the case is, you now have a goal to achieve! Success doesn’t happen by accident. Follow these five steps to make success inevitable! This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, guest Lana Shlafer and Karen discuss manifesting your dreams. Lana Shlafer is a mindset coach, law of attraction expert, and author of the best-selling book Manifest That Miracle. Over the past decade, she has empowered thousands of clients and students to manifest what seems out of reach, including buying their dream home, healing from a chronic illness, and meeting their ideal partner. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: What do you find fulfilling? What brings you joy? Whatever that is, go after it! You have the ability to achieve what you want to achieve. It just takes consistency. Having goals and plans are good things. All too often, however, we get scared to divert from the path we laid out for ourselves. Along the way we often discover something we enjoy more or find out a better way to do something. That’s okay! If fact, it’s a good thing. We just need the confidence to divert. In this episode, I interview Lana Shlafer, and Lana says you need to have a relationship with yourself instead of berating yourself. If you’re following a lift path that you have no interest in and doesn’t grow you as a person, what’s the point? In this episode, Lana and I discuss what you need to do (which includes changing your mindset) to make the journey you’re on miraculous. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen explains why there is a difference in failing and calling yourself a failure. Failure is part of success, and it’s time to embrace failure. There’s a difference in failing and being a failure. Learn how to fail correctly so you can achieve success. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: You can’t have success without failure. In order to succeed, you have to fail and learn from those failures. It’s reported that Walt Disney was fired from his newspaper job for lacking creativity. Not only is that shocking, it’s inspiring! You Will Fail It’s almost guaranteed you will fail. Entrepreneurs tend to be scared that their products and services will fail when they launch. Guest what… they probably will, and that’s okay! Through the failure, you’ll realize what you can and should do differently and better. Tweak Your Connections One factor in succeeding is connecting with the right people. And as you continue to connect with others, you might be meeting really interesting people, but you might find there’s a disconnect between your connections and closing a sale. Tweak who it is you’re connecting with and your method of connecting with them until you find the sweet spot. You Have to Plan In the path to success, you have to have a plan. A plan is important, because, when you fail, you need to know what to change. If you have no plan, it’s hard, or potentially impossible, to know what went wrong. With a plan, you can pinpoint what went wrong and make adjustments. Failure is part of life. It’s also critical to succeeding. Learn to start embracing failure so you can find success. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, guest Nicola Wilkes and Karen discuss the importance of mindset. Nicola Wilkes is the owner of Seriously Stylish Business. As a high-performance coach, she specializes in guiding design-related businesses to reach their highest levels of success. She’s also a specialist in brand management, promotion, and fast growth. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: Mindset is important. It could literally make the difference in whether your business succeeds or fails. However, most entrepreneurs don’t focus on their mindset. Let’s say we have two business owners. Both do great work. One owner doesn’t view her brand as being unique or special. She believes that the work she does is equal to her competitors’, potentially sub-par to some. This attitude reflects in her marketing, and her audience sees it. The other owner understands the importance of mindset. She knows that her business is unique, and she believes that the work she delivers isn’t just equal but better than that of her competitors. Her attitude also reflects in her marketing, and her audience views her company as the better business to work with. Mindset plays a vital role in every facet of your business. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares how to improve your search results. People are searching for you, even if you don’t realize it. It’s important that you take control of the content that shows up when someone Googles your name. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: It’s no secret that we Google everything. We Google businesses, restaurant and product reviews, celebrities… the list goes on. If everyone does their research before making a purchase, wouldn’t you expect people to Google your name before doing business with you? Whether you know it or not, people are Googling you. When they search for you, you don’t want your high school prom photos to pop up. You want only what’s going to help you and your business to pop up. And guess what… it’s possible to control what shows up! You need to drown out the less important information by putting more pertinent information out there. How to Improve Your Search Results Build Your LinkedIn Profile. The most effective way to improve what shows up when people Google your name is to… you guessed it… build a great LinkedIn profile. On LinkedIn, you can control exactly what you want others to know about you. The stronger your profile, the better your search results will be. Gain More Publicity (#1). You read that right… gain more publicity. You might be thinking, “Of course I want to gain more publicity, but how do I do that?” Glad you asked! For starters, check out helpareporter.com. On HARO, you have the ability to show up as the expert and write articles that pertain to your industry. Gain More Publicity (#2). What magazines and articles do your audience read? Find the articles that pertain to your industry, see who wrote them, and connect with those authors on LinkedIn. Then share, share, and share their content until you have the opportunity to write for them or be featured in one of their articles. Podcasting and Blogging. The more you podcast and blog, the more content you’ll have out there. And the more content you have out there, the better the results that show up on Google will be. But don’t stop at writing and podcasting your own content. Connect with other podcasters and bloggers and try to gain visibility on their shows and articles. (Hint: connect with these people the same way you connect with reporters in #3 by connecting with them on LinkedIn.) Improving your search results may seem like a daunting task, but if you follow these simple steps, your Google results will improve in no time. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, guest Katrina Sawa and Karen discuss why raising prices is the most important thing a business can do to make more money. Katrina Sawa is known as The Jumpstart Your Biz Coach because she literally kicks her clients and their businesses into high gear. Katrina is an international best-selling author founded the Int’l Entrepreneur Network to serve tens of thousands of businesses around the world. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: We’re in the middle of a pandemic, and many people are wondering, “What can I do to make more money?” The answer: raise your prices. That might seem crazy since a lot of people are struggling right now, but trust me… it works! Let’s say, in order to reach your sales goal for the week, you have to pitch 20 different people. Not all 20 will buy, but of the ones who do, they’ll have helped you meet your sales goal. Now, if you were to double your prices, fewer people might buy, but you’ll still make the same amount by the end of the week because you made double the money per sale. If doubling your prices runs away half your client base, it’s okay. You can afford to lose half your clients since that means doing half the work while making the same amount of money. Raising prices takes guts. It’s not an easy mindset shift. But once you do raise your prices, you’ll reap the benefits. Listen more about how and why you should raise your prices by listening to Episode 132 with guest Kristina Sawa. Melissa samples some peanut butter flavored whiskey, then inexplicably wonders why no one will join her for family dinner. (Hint: it’s the peanut whiskey.) Amy puts the final nail in the grease-lined “hair training” coffin, and Missy and team Brilliant prepare snacks for the long slow road to the beach. Then, at minute 47:06, it's the moment you've been waiting for, when Missy and Amy discuss in graphic detail Cardi B's latest Ode to Healthy Vaginal Juices. Plugin the headphones, kids. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen discusses how to take advantage of the 3 new and powerful LinkedIn tools. LinkedIn is an ever-improving platform, and you should improve with it. Knowing what changes to make to your profile when updates come out can be challenging. Karen details what changes you should be making and how to make them. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: LinkedIn regularly rolls out changes that make the platform a better place to build human-to-human connections. When new changes come out, it’s important that you take advantage of those features. Here are 3 new and powerful changes LinkedIn has made this year. 3 New and Powerful LinkedIn Tools Correctly pronouncing someone’s name instantly builds a connection, especially if they have a difficult name to pronounce. LinkedIn has very recently given us the ability to add a voice recording of our names to our profiles. Next time, before you meet with someone over the phone or in person, take a look at their profile and listen to their name’s pronunciation. It’s a powerful tool for connecting with others. And don’t forget to return the favor and add a recording of your name to your profile. LinkedIn recently raised the limit of characters allowed in the About and Headline sections. In the About section, use every character that you can. It explains who you are, and the more information and keywords you provide, the higher you’ll pull up in LinkedIn searches. In the Headline, you now have more room to add those extra words you might not have been able to fit before. LinkedIn has removed Media from the About section and turned it into its own Featured section. The amazing thing about the Featured section is that it’s basically a call-to-action section. You can add images with links that go directly to the webpage you’re promoting. You can add multiple images and links in the Featured section, but it’s best to keep it down to two. To learn more about these 3 new and powerful LinkedIn tools and how to take advantage of them, take a listen to this episode! This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares how to market to potential partners on LinkedIn. Ever wished you can get in front of more audiences? I bet. Not sure how to make it happen? Karen shares how you can utilize LinkedIn to build joint ventures. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com. About the Episode: Making pitch after pitch after pitch on LinkedIn can be profitable if done correctly, but it’s tiring. What if there were a way that you can get in front of much larger audiences without having to constantly make pitches? There is, and it’s possible through joint ventures. How to Utilize Joint Ventures on LinkedIn Partnering with others on LinkedIn who serve similar audiences as you is a great, effective way to quickly get in front of larger audiences. Knowing where to start when searching for partners can be challenging. Here are three ways to get started building those relationships: Start by digging into your existing network. Chances are that you’re already connected with people on LinkedIn who serve similar audiences as yours. Find them, reach out to them, and tell them that you’d like to collaborate with them on how you can serve each other’s audiences. Connect strategically with possible referral partners. For example, let’s say you’re part of a virtual summit. Reach out to some of the other speakers, mention that you were both part of the summit, and bam – instant connection. Think about other networks. Let’s say you’re part of a Facebook group and you really love what they’re doing. Find who the admin of the group are, search for them on LinkedIn, tell them you love their work and that you think there could be a great partner relationship. Building joint venture relationships instantly places you in front of more audiences. Listen to this episode and learn more about how you can build collaborative relationships. Have you ever had an issue expressing how you navigate through the grieving process? If so, I had a conversation with a film maker who has a project that is a must see for grievers as well as those who are supporting grievers. Lindsey Whissel Fenton is an Emmy award-winning storyteller who is passionate about using public media to build empathy. She is currently a senior producer at WPSU where, most recently, she developed, produced, directed, and wrote Speaking Grief, a multi-platform initiative aimed at helping create a more grief-aware society. You Can’t Say That, which she produced, was among eight U.S. programs selected to screen at the 2013 International Public Television Screening Conference (INPUT) conference in El Salvador; it was also honored with a Mid Atlantic Emmy Award. Some of her other projects include Pennsylvania Folklore: Woven Together and World on Trial: The French Headscarf Law. Fenton also serves as a host for the WPSU-FM series Take Note. While unable to sell their products and services, many businesses stopped marketing altogether. But as Christine says, “If it’s time to eat, it’s time to market.” Knowing how to utilize online marketing, especially during a pandemic, can be challenging. That’s why creativity is necessary. The beauty in online marketing is that it allows you to reach a wider audience than traditional marketing allows. It also allows you to stay in front of others, even when they can’t visit your business in person. And when they are finally able to visit in person again, they’ll remember you over your competition because you didn’t let them forget you. One thing to keep in mind while marketing online is you need to leverage the human connection. People don’t want to be sold to. So instead of asking them to buy from you, tell them more about what you’re selling. Provide value, show them behind the scenes, and make a human connection. Listen to this episode to hear how other businesses have gotten creative during the pandemic.
