A: So, I never asked the question, "What are you feeling?" because most people don't know. I want to know what's going on, and I'll show you what I noticed. You know, and we'll talk about it. But the trigger is usually a social need. "I'm not being heard, I'm not being valued, I don't feel safe. Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com.   About the Episode: It’s easy to forget how important pre-work is. With clients, we want to focus on providing excellent service – which is a great thing – but it’s important to wow the client from the beginning. That’s where homework comes in. Before communicating with a client, take the time to look them up. What exciting things have they been doing? Have they been featured in any articles recently? Find out a little bit about them. By doing this, you’re sure to wow them from the beginning. Homework can also do the work of finding clients for you. By putting yourself out there, explaining who you are, and showing your tract-record, clients will be able to find you online and immediately begin to build a relationship with you. Has your business as a retreat leader been slow because of the pandemic or because you’re just not attracting enough attention? Sheri Rosenthal is a practicing physician. She is also the owner of Journeys of the Spirit Travel. It's a boutique agency specializing in the planning and management of group travel. She loves helping clients plan, fills, and profit from transformational retreats that change lives while adding serious income to their bottom line. In this episode, Sheri shares her insights on how understanding retreat as an experiential and transformational event rather than treating it as a workshop can attract more clients and increase sales. She also adds how you can shift your in-person retreats to online retreats in the midst of the Corona Virus pandemic. Check out these episode highlights: 2:31- Sheri’s ideal client: “Basically, Tom, heart-based entrepreneurs who want to run transformational retreats, change lives and travel the world. Those are our favorite folks at Wanderlust Entrepreneur, which is my main company.” 2:51 - Problem Sheri helps solve: “Okay, so we help in two ways, Tom. First, we train our clients on how to plan, price, profit, and monetize their retreats, which is critical. And second, we train them on how to bring their in-person retreats and businesses online which is really critical right now.” 3:18 - Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Sheri: “So, Tom, most retreat leaders make no or very little money on their retreats, or they can't fill them because they don't know how to design and position them properly, or have a proper marketing plan in place, okay? Also, many of our clients who have been working strictly in person are realizing now that they need to move their offerings online so they can have an income even during a pandemic. So, they could do like a virtual retreat, but they got to get online.” 4:41 - Common mistakes that people make before they find Sheri’s solution: “Absolutely. So, when retreat leaders see that their retreats are not selling, one of the biggest mistakes they make is to lower the pricing and put it on sale.” 5:43 - Sheri’s Valuable Free Action (VFA): “Oh, absolutely. So, people do not want to travel and sit in a classroom all day, they want to experience something. They want the cosmic 2x4 to hit them upside the head and they want their lives to change. If you can create a retreat that promises that, your retreats will always sell out, I can promise that.” 7:19 - Sheri’s Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Check out Sheri’s Retreat Blueprint Program: https://www.wanderlustentrepreneur.com/retreat-blueprint-program/ 8:17 - Q: Should folks be planning a retreat for 2020? A: The answer to that would be an absolutely, positively, hell yes! Because people are dying to get away and go on a retreat. I am. And if you don't have one ready, they're going to come on mine instead of yours. Tweetable Takeaways from this Episode: “It's about creating experiences, not about just talking at people in a classroom, that's called a workshop.” -Sheri RosenthalClick To Tweet Transcript (Note, this was transcribed using a transcription software and may not reflect the exact words used in the podcast) Tom Poland 0:09 Hello everyone,

He’s also an Iron Man triathlete and if you want to know more about how he came to be a master of engineering scalable growth systems for business owners, it’s due to him being a full-time professional engineer for 10 years and then being a professional marketer for 10 years, and then combining both skill sets to engineer scalable marketing systems that make your business simpler and more successful and fun to lead. In this episode, Chris shares ways on how you can scale up your business with the right growth system. He also shares his insights on how to engineer the right and perfect growth system for your business. Check out these episode highlights: 02:23 - Chris’ ideal client: “So my ideal client is someone who's ready for a change. They're not having the impact they want, not making the money that they should, working too hard, and there's ready to grow and scale their business.” 02:48 - Problem Chris helps solve: “I help good people grow great businesses, that's the core of it. More specifically, I help grow and scale six-figure and seven-figure businesses with their engineered marketing methodology.” 04:25 - Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Chris: “So there are the obvious signs, like, you know, "We don't have enough leads", or there's, you know, inconsistent income compared to the business growth. But there's really a much, much bigger like symptom that comes up, Tom is that they get miserable.” 05:50 - Common mistakes that people make before they find Chris’ solution: “Yeah, so they go into crazy mode. They can feel good. It feels good when you're doing stuff, "I'm busy. I'm doing stuff. I'm getting things done". They read articles, watch videos, hire people, buy courses, feel good doing stuff, just throwing a lot of mud against the wall. But at the end of the day, they're not getting anywhere.” 06:44 - Chris’ Valuable Free Action (VFA): “I think it's good just to slow down sometimes and hit pause, step back, step out of things, slow down and take inventory. You know, ask yourself- ask yourself the hard questions, you know, 'If I keep going, if I keep doing what I'm doing right now, am I going to get to where I want to go?'” 07:53 - Chris’ Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Check out Chris’ Website: http://www.chrisgoegan.com/scale/ 08:09 - Q: Why am I doing what I'm doing now? A: I just had this crazy thing, Tom, that's like, you know what, I want to help good people build great businesses, and if they could just focus on taking what they're gifted and talented at and bring that to the world, instead of trying to figure out how this marketing and scaling thing works, they would have a much better life. What if perfectionism was dead? What would that give you? What would be present for you? What would society and organisations look like if perfectionism didn’t exist? In recent months, we have had to change so much and pivot in ways we may not have known were options. Have we let go of our perfectionist ways? I don’t know for sure, but let’s take a moment to ask ourselves what our perfectionism may be holding us back from. Ask yourself - What else is needed from me at this time and am I too caught up in getting it perfect? Key Points from this Episode: It is common for High Achievers to be perfectionists! We want to get it right all the time. We can be so forgiving of others’ errors. It is time to start being more accepting of our own errors. One of the consequences of perfectionism is that it slows everything down. Listen to a real life example of how one company was able to see how their products were working for their customers and hear the question they took back to their CEO to implement in future product releases. Get ready to be honest with yourself about your work and ask “What is the minimal viable product?” Our world is always changing. If you want to stay innovative and be a shape shifter, you need to let go of your perfectionism. I hope you liked this show! Here is another show where I go more into the limits of perfectionism (https://meetmypotential.com/podcasts-z/limits-of-being-a-perfectionist/). Please leave the show a review and comment how you are letting go of perfectionism.

Check out these episode highlights: 01:38 - Melinda’s ideal client: “The start-up coaches and consultants, service-based practitioners that really want to have a strong business and make a big impact on this world and do what they love while making a great living doing it.” 03:13 - Problem Melinda helps solve: “Yeah, being overwhelmed in their business because they're dabbling here. They're skipping around, they're jumping from this business model to that business model. They're hoping something will eventually work.” 04:06 - Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Melinda: “The symptom is sporadic revenue, it's like that roller coaster revenue. They're going to have sporadic clients or they're going to hit a plateau. They're going to reach working with a certain amount of clients making a certain amount of money.” 05:09 - Common mistakes that people make before they find Melinda’s solution: “There are four distinct phases that every business goes through. I don't care how big you grow to if you want 50,000, or six figures or seven figures. And what will a big mistake is a newer coach will look to a mentor or somebody that they admire. And, they try to duplicate what that person is doing.” 06:41 - Melinda’s Valuable Free Action (VFA): “Well, the easiest thing you've got to assess where you are, like on any adventure, any journey that you're going on. So many people they've got the end result figured out, they know where they want to go, "I want to be I want to make six figures. I want to go to seven figures. I want to make this. I want this", but they forget to assess where they are and so that is- do not overestimate that is to take an assessment with, what systems do you have in place?” 07:26 - Melinda’s Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Check out Melinda’s Business Readiness Quiz: http://www.coachesconsole.com/business-readiness-quiz/ 08:24 - Q: What's another mistake that new coaches often make? A: Be intentional. A lot of times, you come from the place of being the coach, being the consultant. This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares how to improve your search results. People are searching for you, even if you don’t realize it. It’s important that you take control of the content that shows up when someone Googles your name. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at info@karenyankovich.com.   About the Episode: It’s no secret that we Google everything. We Google businesses, restaurant and product reviews, celebrities… the list goes on. If everyone does their research before making a purchase, wouldn’t you expect people to Google your name before doing business with you? Whether you know it or not, people are Googling you. When they search for you, you don’t want your high school prom photos to pop up. You want only what’s going to help you and your business to pop up. And guess what… it’s possible to control what shows up! You need to drown out the less important information by putting more pertinent information out there. How to Improve Your Search Results Build Your LinkedIn Profile. The most effective way to improve what shows up when people Google your name is to… you guessed it… build a great LinkedIn profile. On LinkedIn, you can control exactly what you want others to know about you. The stronger your profile, the better your search results will be. Gain More Publicity (#1). You read that right… gain more publicity. You might be thinking, “Of course I want to gain more publicity, but how do I do that?” Glad you asked! For starters, check out helpareporter.com. On HARO, you have the ability to show up as the expert and write articles that pertain to your industry. Gain More Publicity (#2). What magazines and articles do your audience read? Find the articles that pertain to your industry, see who wrote them, and connect with those authors on LinkedIn. Then share, share, and share their content until you have the opportunity to write for them or be featured in one of their articles. Podcasting and Blogging. The more you podcast and blog, the more content you’ll have out there. And the more content you have out there, the better the results that show up on Google will be. But don’t stop at writing and podcasting your own content. Connect with other podcasters and bloggers and try to gain visibility on their shows and articles. (Hint: connect with these people the same way you connect with reporters in #3 by connecting with them on LinkedIn.) Improving your search results may seem like a daunting task, but if you follow these simple steps, your Google results will improve in no time.   Episode Spotlights: Where to find everything for this week’s episode: karenyankovich.com/133 Introducing this episode’s topic (2:16) Take control of your LinkedIn network (6:00) Gain more publicity (7:44) Connect through podcasting and blogging (13:11) Episode recap (15:35)   Resources Mentioned In This Episode: Sign up for the She’s LinkedUp Masterclass Join my free Facebook Group if you have any questions about today’s episode Be a guest on Good Girls Get Rich Episodes on building a better LinkedIn profile: Three Secrets to Writing a Great LinkedIn Headline Three New and Powerful LinkedIn Tools Three Simple LinkedIn Profile Updates Episodes on how to make a pitch: The Power of PR with Amanda Berlin Using PR and the Media for Visibility with Christina Daves   Help Us Spread The Word! I am back for another Month in Review, chatting about May… Is it just me or are the months just blending together? Like how are we already in June, almost 6 months into the year of our Lord 2020?While time definitely feels somewhat disjointed, I think we can all agree that time is still moving and is waiting for no one. This time, while completely jarring + unwelcome, has been a rather unexpected blessing.I’ve seen more Black people launch businesses, reclaim autonomy, pivot, collaborate and change the game so much, you’d be really hard pressed not to be inspired yourself and make some changes in your own life. Black people are amazing and I’m happy to be alive at a time to see all of the amazing developments + strides we are making in our culture. With that being said, if you’re not using this time…to dismantle personal negative beliefs, to launch something placed on your heart, to reconnect to yourself, to let old habits die… I’m going to ask you a question… what is at risk for you if you stay the same?Could you live with how your life will look a year from now, doing the same shit you’re doing today?During this episode I discusswhy you should stop blaming & using your loved ones for not sharing in your vision as an excuse to not pursue your own dreams + desireshow you can begin curating your own environment to work for your needshow I quick lesson in disobedience caused me to actually pivot & do what God called me to do when I launched my membership for Product Photographers.Take a listen and let me know your thoughts!Books Mentioned During the Episode? It’s About Damn Time by Arlan HamiltonYou Are A Badass + You Are A Badass at Making Money by Jen SinceroGirl, Stop Apologizing + Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel HollisBig Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

What does it look like to do things differently as a Christian business owner? And how can you make decisions in your business and life that are both purposeful and prayerful? In this episode of our Business Series, I’m chatting with Valerie Woerner of Val Marie Paper about how she’s chosen to operate her business differently and go against some of the traditional business advice and practices.  We dive into the lessons she has learned in her business and leadership journey, including how she did not really consider herself a leader and instead “fell into” leadership roles. We also dig into some of the key values and principles she operates her business and life by and how these help her to keep things running smoothly. Val has offered to give away one of her beautiful prayer journals to one listener of the podcast. "Do not forget that the power you have to do anything is through the Lord." "The hard part about margin is that, most of the time, everything you want to keep is really good stuff." This time on Shamelessly Feminine, Jen is talking to Dr. Mary Claire Haver, an OB-GYN in Texas. As her patient population aged, she was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn’t until she, too, experienced the changes of menopause that she realized this advice doesn’t work. In this episode, she’s telling us all about how her studies of aging and nutrition caused her to develop the Galveston Diet, the first and only nutrition program in the world created by a female OB-GYN - this is no junk science. The Galveston Diet is dedicated to helping women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition, and once you hear this interview, you will definitely want to check out the program! Find more information at GalvestonDiet.com Don't forget to check out our new sponsor, Elemis! Key Quotes from the Episode: "It's simple nutritional changes, loading up on on behavior and practices that decrease inflammation and doing away with those that add inflammation." "So I practiced on myself and literally that 20 pounds [that I gained] melted off. Not only that, I was sleeping better. My brain fog was better. I was working out better. My joints felt better. I mean, all of the non-scaled benefits were so much better." "My residency was jam packed and prevention just falls at the wayside. It's like, ‘That's common knowledge. People should just understand that inherently,’ and they actually don’t. So many things in the industry are working against us for that." SendCalendar, Sendtric & MorningFame ✅YouTube - just reached over 1,000 subscribers. Now I’ve got Posts. But still no mobile live, monetisation and no superchat Today's Episode: It's Time for an Update The ups and downs of doing these live shows and the podcast I’ve really enjoyed having fun and creating it It’s allowed me to develop a fantastic live video show process in Asana with my VA. I’m thinking of selling this. What do you think? Allowed me to be consistent and create valuable regular content Brought in some money for sponsorship - which I am investing back into the show. Chat with fab guests, learn more (get free consultations), and build and grow relationships Each episode has taken much longer than I thought. Less than original podcast but still a lot. At the moment I am editing each podcast. I tried Descript but not perfect I’ve got so many guests that I want to bring in but just haven’t had the time.  I’ve been scared about bring in some big names - even though many are friends I knew it was going to take a long time with the podcast but The numbers aren’t as high as I would have liked ✅My year of growth and I've just had a session with a life coach Last year was my year of visibility. I spoke all over the world and did loads of appearances. This year is my year of business and personal growth. That’s meant rebuilding a lot of stuff - being consistent and taking a proper look at myself For a solo entrepreneur - it’s important to have a whole approach and a holistic approach. I want to grow as an entrepreneur, a father, husband and friend. I want to improve health-wise, gain more clarity, grow in my faith and become more wise I’m looking at my health. 18 months ago I got a personal trainer. Over 3 years ago I cut out sugar. But as a veggie I want to check my B12, Iron etc.  I had a session with a life coach on Friday which was amazing. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while - but it has to be the right fit. Looking at the holistic approach. Want to procrastinate less ✅I've been re-working the different ways people can work with me Power hour Coaching programms Live video Courses Masterminds Academy ✅The pros and cons of offering "power hours" They’re a quick way of picking your brain and being paid for it.  Do you offer power hours? I do. I love them. I love helping people. Although it’s not my main focus. I’ve been working on my services page to make it clearer - iag.me/services Ken Needy says I've switched to a slightly more leveraged model where when someone buys a product from us they get access to our monthly Hotline calls where they can ask questions about anything email marketing related. That way I can help more people, and also keep that time cornered. Jaz Greer mentioned the Know Like and Trust Carrier Reah said I do offer consult sessions, yes. And I have also purchased them. Thus far, the purchased time for a consult was long after not being able to find the answer myself. Sometimes it was worth it...about 50/50. I would do a consult/coaching session again with the right person. Molly Mahoney said - I used to! But time became too much of a commodity, and i know that the deepest results come from a longer program. ✅Tool alert! SendCalendar, Sendtric, MorningFame and BrainFM Sendcalendar.com...

One of my favorite things to help people launch their podcasts. Starting a podcast is like a dream for some people. They think about it for a year, maybe more and when they come to us, they just need that extra push. So it’s incredibly ironic that it’s taken me over six months to launch the Wild Home Podcast. I’ve had two podcasts and both seemed to flow pretty easily, but this one was a challenge for me. At every turn, I hit a roadblock and these challenges kept me from actually doing the thing.  What’s even more ironic is that all of these roadblocks are things that I talk about ALL. THE. DANG. TIME. and how to overcome them. So when I started really thinking about what was keeping me from starting the podcast, I started to realize that I had become my own client.  So in this episode, I’m breaking down the roadblocks I hit and that a lot of my clients hit and how to deal with them. I hope they help you overcome your own fears and roadblock. Sarah Molitor is a mother of five under the age of seven and today we talk about finding joy in the Lord in our every day moments and boundaries both within our families and our own lives. Sarah is a Registered Nurse who always had being a wife and mother as her goal. Her passions are raising children to be others-oriented and inspiring other mothers to find joy through her social media influence. Key Points from this Episode: It takes time to find your confidence as a mother and find your stride. Focus on what things do look like, not what you expect them to look like. In hindsight, we will get to see that what God has planned for us is way cooler than anything we could have planned. Connect to the Lord any where, any time you can. Taylor Looney, LMFT-A shares about her work with young adults. This episode is especially helpful for college-aged students and young adults who are single or early in their relationships. Overview: Taylor shares about how her work experience has given her insight into the importance of young adults knowing themselves well before getting serious in a relationship or moving toward marriage. Main Points of this Episode: It’s important to look out for red flags and warning signs early in a relationship. Relationships can be strengthened by learning communication tools at the beginning. What are the big issues Taylor sees? “Ring by Spring”: Many college-age young adults begin rushing into a relationship without knowing themselves well first. Sometimes when you’re single, you might be looking to relationships to avoid loneliness. We have to be able to love ourselves and be willing to work on our stuff before we can really start sharing our lives with someone else. Your goals and hopes change, and you and your partner might experience conflict in this change over time. It’s easy for jealousy, anxieties, and frustrations to work their way into a relationship early on. If these issues aren’t addressed and worked through, anger and resentment can build. What does it look like for you to get to know yourself and grow yourself, even while sharing your life in a relationship? First, examine yourself and how you feel in the relationship. Are there any jealousy issues or frustrations? If you are experiencing this, what do you do when you feel this way? Ask yourself what your partner might be doing to trigger feelings of jealousy or frustration. Remember, the person isn’t necessarily the problem. This is something that can be worked through in healthy situations. Benefits of taking commitment slow and focusing on yourself: Gives you time to enjoy getting to know each other and be more confident in your choice to commit to each other. You’re able to grow independently before a relationship and take the time to know yourself and accept yourself before also putting energy into a relationship. Learn your boundaries and what you most value about relationships. You can know what you will and won’t accept. What to think about before a relationship gets serious: What are your life goals and what do those goals mean to you? What is important to you? What is your 5 year plan? What are your standards? This could also be boundaries and what you will and won’t be okay with in a relationship. Explore what your attachment style might be. Do you have a tendency to be anxious and seek more closeness? Or you might tend to push people away and seek distance. Learn communication skills and tools for understanding each other’s attachment styles and ways of acting. Explore the 5 love languages and what you and your partner’s languages might be. This is about what makes you feel loved, and how you express love. Know that it’s ok to take time and get to know yourselves and each other before committing long-term. Remember that conflict does not necessarily mean break up. Are you being respected and supported? Every couple has arguments; that’s normal. But make sure the relationship is healthy for both sides. Trust your gut and don’t force what you don’t think will work.   Resources: Taylor referenced the 5 Love Languages, based on a book by Dr. Gary Chapman. Dr. Tom

A deer in the headlights. Literally, what I saw in front of my car last night in the driveway. Figuratively, what's happening to dentists in the headlights of the Evil Insurance Empire. Managed care is great for insurance companies who are making a FORTUNE off the BACKS OF DENTISTS. Managed care is good for employers who want to offer dental insurance as a benefit without paying a fortune for it. For patients, it's not so great, but for dentists, the fight against the negative consequences of managed care insurance is one of the toughest problems we face in private practice today. Achilles Heel the PPOs Hope You Never Discover I made a discovery when my father was dying of cancer and he asked Elizabeth and me to turn his practice around in order to help provide financial security for my mother. I accidentally stumbled across the Achilles Heel of managed care Insurance Companies. Discovering this well-kept secret helped us instantly garner FAR HIGHER FEES FROM PPOs. Fees much higher than they were willing to admit they would pay. My dad's practice was losing money. He'd slipped so far behind that the day we took over the practice the bookkeeper sat down with Elizabeth and me and told us that she was concerned we were about to get shut down. They were $100,000.00 behind on the day to day bills. Lab, supply, etc.. If you've heard me speak about this, you may recall that I refer to that practice as my "Negative Inheritance!" On that first day, Elizabeth and I wrote my dad’s bookkeeper a check from our personal account… a check for $100,000.00 so she could pay off all of the overdue bills. In this episode, I reveal my accidental discovery that enabled me to almost instantly get much higher fees from many of the PPOs with whom my father had contracted. What do you do when you feel like God is asking you to pivot in your life or business? How do you build confidence when you feel like your lacking in an area? And how can you redefine the concept of wealth in your life?   Podcast guest, author, speaker, coach, and media personality Patrice Washington shares her insights into leadership, how to trust God through transition, and how to build confidence in your calling. If you’re struggling with trust, change, and what to do next, Patrice shares insight after insight in this episode.   Patrice’s Leadership Journey Patrice is America’s Money Maven, but she didn’t start out with that title. She launched her business as a real estate and mortgage broker at the age of 21, but when the recession hit, she lost everything. God led her to Proverbs 17:16 and from there she launched a blog, pursued wisdom, and looked for books to help her define who she was.   She was greatly impacted by Talane Miedaner’s book Coach Yourself to Success, which encourages the reader to look back in time to help her discover her purpose. Patrice realized that she had been a leader since she pursued a Student Council position in third grade, a time when she didn’t feel confident. She knew from a young age that she could help if just given the chance.   When she ran her first business, Patrice understood that she was a boss because she had employees, but she’s since realized she’s a leader in her business within the past few years.   She realized that if people trusted her, she couldn’t be haphazard and must lead with intention.   Patrice reminds us that it’s time for Spirit-led, faith-filled people to step up and lead. Christians are sprinkled everywhere to lead people everywhere, but we get timid about sharing our faith.   How Faith has Played a Role in Her Leadership Faith has always been a part of who she is. She tells event planners and media schedulers who ask her to speak that spirituality is a part of her; it’s a pillar in her life. She must talk about it.   She feels that her job is to plant seeds and to tell the truth about her story.   We don’t lead people by beating people up, convincing them, or convicting them. We lead by example.   How Patrice Defines Leadership Leadership, according to Patrice, is being the example of the path. Being a leader means that you are clear, authentic, Spirit-led, and can articulate the vision.   Patrice’s Advice for Younger Leaders Give yourself permission to be awesome, to be all God made you to be, and still be a hot mess.   Trusting God Through Transition Since 2009, Patrice has called herself the Money Maven until other people believed that about her. She’s appeared on Fox News, The Dr. Oz Show, and Steve Harvey.  She realized that in order to rebuild wealth, you can’t just focus on budgets and savings.   In 2017, the Holy Spirit said that she must tell the whole truth. Sometimes the Holy Spirit calls us to pivot or transition, and we may wonder why He wants to interrupt our current success. God called Patrice to transition her business from focusing on money to focusing on the idea of “redefining wealth”.   Redefining your wealth is so much more than just money and material possessions. The true definition of wealth (from the Bible) is well-being.   Patrice built Redefining Wealth on six pillars: FIT, meaning your physical health PEOPLE, which includes your relationships and connections SPACE, honoring the time you have FAITH, meaning your relationship with God WORK, involves living out your gifts and talents MONEY, which is your financial situation   Patrice shares some examples of how God has taught her lessons in the various pillars of Redefining Wealth. She has seen how valuable relationships are, for example, and has learned the value of simply treating people well.   How Patrice Developed Redefining Wealth The Holy Spirit drove her message. He asked her to get out of her comfort zone, but getting out of the box is frightening.   But Patrice obeyed and looked at her life and the patterns and practices that had helped her achieve success. She wrote out 200 ideas that later became podcast episodes. Then she moved those ideas into categories.   She saved the money and faith pillars toward the end intentionally because she wants her audience to do the work and not just wait on God without taking responsibility for their lives.   What Happens When You Need to Pivot Patrice had a previous business, Real Money Answers, when the Holy Spirit prompted her to start her current business, Redefining Wealth. She used her existing platform to pivot.   As she transitioned from Real Money Answers to Redefining Wealth, she took down all her old products so she had no income. She used her savings to finance her new venture.   During her launch time, lots of previous venues turned her down. She had a strong conviction and stuck with it. Her time of transition and pivoting forced her to re-evaluate who she was as a businesswoman and to become independent of what other people think. Patrice reminds us to not give up just because other people don’t understand.   Our job is to relentlessly communicate the message we’ve been given.     Building Confidence in Your Calling A lot of us struggle to build confidence or discover our gifts and calling because we’re in comparison mode.   Negative words or experiences about our natural giftings come easily. For example, Patrice’s gift is speaking, but she got in trouble in school for talking too much. It only makes sense that your gifts will be attacked by your enemy who is trying to steal your gift.   Therapy, personal development, and studying God’s Word will help you discover your God-given gifts.   How to Develop Confidence Before Patrice speaks, she still gets nervous and feels like a wreck. One trick she has learned is to make a joke early on. The smiles put her at ease. She’s always looking for ways to break the ice.   Therapy has also helped her. She grew up believing she was ugly because people told her she was, but that’s not a story she has to own.   Patrice notes that a big part of building confidence is simply in the doing--you have to practice using whatever gifts you’ve been given.   Confidence, for Patrice, comes from knowing she’s genuine. She knows that this is the story God gave her and her responsibility is to share it. Her story is not about her.   Tools Patrice Used to Help Her Understand Her Wiring Patrice is a self-proclaimed “assessment junkie.” She loves Gretchen Rubin’s “Four Tendencies.” She’s a questioner, and knowing this about her made so many things make sense. It gave a name to her way of being.   Leaders Are Learners: Patrice loves Atomic Habits by James Clear*   Other Episodes Mentioned: Episode 31: The Key to Accomplishing Your Goals Episode 33: My Favorite Tools for Goal Setting, Planning, and Creating Habits   Connect with Patrice Washington: Website Instagram YouTube Podcast   Patrice Washington is an award-winning author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, and media personality.   Patrice got her start as your favorite personal finance expert, “America’s Money Maven,” having tremendous success with her “mindset approach” to personal finance. She has since expanded her brand and mission, encouraging women to chase purpose, not money.   Patrice is committed to redefining the term “wealth,” using its original meaning, “well-being.”  She encourages women to have “wealth” in all aspects of their lives by pursuing their purpose, being fulfilled, and earning more without ever chasing money. Through her teachings, Patrice empowers women to look at life through the lens of abundance and opportunity, instead of lack and scarcity.   As the founder of Redefining Wealth and The Earn More Money Movement for Women, Patrice has built a thriving community of high-achieving women committed to creating a powerful life vision--in their careers, home, health, and personal finances. Even her teens, Nicole taught people of all ages and backgrounds to surf, first in her hometown of Ventura, California and then in Manly, Australia, where she lived and worked for a year. In her 20s, she taught surfing and yoga at the Surf with Amigas Surf & Yoga Retreat in Nicaragua. After surfing for the past 23 years and traveling to exotic surf destinations, such as the Maldives and Seychelles, Nicole developed a passion for writing about her experiences and embarked on a writing career as a women’s columnist for DEEP magazine. Nicole is no stranger to a busy schedule, as she is a mom of a vivacious little toddler and a stepmom to two teenage boys. Nicole is also a a certified Yoga Alliance instructor of ten years who has always had a natural affinity for helping get others inspired and fired up about their health and wellness. After having her baby in spring 2017, Nicole realized how isolated and disconnected moms and parents can feel when playing the role of caretaker to everyone in their lives. As an exhausted new mom, Nicole became interested in hearing stories from other women and how they handled the ups and the downs of motherhood and how they found alignment and joy in their own lives without feeling guilty for taking care of themselves. Nicole knows first hand how the high levels of stress and responsibility that arise as a parent can cloud a person’s vision and purpose. The Soul Mammas Podcast and Community was born out of the hope that she can connect women together so they don’t feel alone on their journeys. Because sometimes we seek perfection as moms, which can lead to feeling “less than,” Nicole was deeply inspired to create a truth-telling space for other moms to share their successes AND struggles, and wanted to build a community of women who believed mamas should and can live passionate lives. After seeing her own mom play the “supermom” role for her entire childhood, she often felt that her mom didn’t take the time she needed to nurture herself and that she wanted to change that cycle as a mom herself. Leading by example to her daughter has fueled her fire to encourage other mamas to model passionate, aligned lives to their children and not to stifle their own joy. Nicole infuses compassion, play and laughter into her podcast, teaching, yoga classes and daily life. Being raised by a family full of actors and comedians on her dad’s side, Nicole always wanted to capitalize on her extroverted nature and curiosity for other people’s stories. She can remember as far back as when she was seven years old creating radio shows with her little cassette tape in her family’s music room for hours on end. Nicole always dreamed of having her own radio show and it took the birth of her daughter to refuel her fire, creativity and purpose for this venture. Hence the Soul Mammas Podcast began. She currently resides in sunny Southern California with her husband and kids. Here she hosts her podcast and community of soulful, mindful parents and mommies.   TAKEAWAYS from the Episode: * It's okay to not be okay.  You don't have to do it alone.  Speak up and ask for help! * It's important to practice self-care even if only for a few minutes a day and it doesn't have to look like anyone else's self-care practice.  Do what's authentic to YOU. * You have to let go of control sometimes. * Do more of what fills you up and less of what depletes you. * The mama entrepreneur formula is 1) Find a need 2) Marry that with what you are good at 3) Do something that genuinely makes you want to help. * identify your limiting beliefs * It's okay to shine and to live out your passions! * You deserve to put yourself first. * You can be a mama and still live out your passions.   NICOLE's CONTACT INFO: www.soulmammas.com -Go here to grab a Free Pdf on Self-Care and to join her newsletter.  This is also where you can find her in-person and virtual meet-ups for mamas. Today’s Episode:It’s madness as the Dungeon Masters continue to discuss their favourite and least favourite aspects of Dungeons and Dragons in part three of the Meet the DM’s series. This time round, it’s Monsters. Summary:  After a brief explanation of why kobolds are a great addition to the game, things derail quickly as Adam and Terry take on Dan over the mechanics of 5th Edition beholders. The DM’s then move on to briefly discuss evil chromatic dragons and some basic ideas of homebrews, before launching into their least favourite. Two of the three DMs choose to dissect what’s wrong with some of the lawful creatures in the monster manual, with a solid rant in the middle about low-level undead. The general consensus seems to be that flavour and imagination is more important to the panel than mechanics, but there are definitely some sticky subjects! Sexy Spirituality podcast Episode 4: Learning to Listen to Your Intuition Check In Kimjera: Fall is keeping us busy: Homecoming dress shopping, flag football practice, a new business opportunity. Lezli: I love fall! I love the cooler weather and crisp air.    Lezli Goodwin: "Learning to Listen to Your Intuition" So many people go through life waiting for a sign, so they can be sure that they’re doing the right thing. I believe that flash of intuition, that sudden sense of knowingness that comes from nowhere, IS that sign. Ernest Holmes said that the highest God and the Innermost God are One God, so that inner knowingness is literally the voice of God in us. But we doubt it! We question it! We think it’s crazy. That initial impulse is almost always right. We need to learn to listen.   Roundtable with Kimjera Whittington & Sonia Byrne Kimjera: My dad used tot ell me that when I listen to that voice, it's not always right but when I don't listen, I for sure am wrong.  It's not a guarantee.  We have to take int hat information and decide that we want to do with it. It invites you to use your discernment, while treating that internal awareness as information worth being considered. Sonia: Do you have different sensory locations for different kinds of intuitive understanding? Logical knowing in the head, emotional knowing in the chest.  For Lezli (and probably only Lezli), the rear end when encountering a moment of inspiration. Kimjera: I don't always feel like I'm getting along with my intuition. I hear it, but I don't want to listen. Sometimes I just don't want to follow what it's telling me. Sonia: I definitely think intuition grows with life experience. Being able to tell which is intuition, versus what is the next good idea. Lezli: For me, intuition is always life-affirming and always expansive. Sonia: In business or consulting, sometimes my intuition is best in the long run but it may not feel immediately life affirming because it requires change. Kimjera: YES! Sometimes in business you have to help clients see how to be in alignment, and it can be a bit more complicated. But it generally works out. It's getting easier as businesses are opening to ideas like mindfulness and conscious leadership. Sonia: As I get older, I can just relax. There's a whole lot less angst. Learning what we personally need to do to deepen our own connection to intuition is key -- silence, meditation, prayer, whatever we personally need.   Quote of the Episode "It;s essential to remember that 'highest and best' does not mean you're going to like it or it's going to be easy." Last week Kellie and I went to a community field day and variety tasting event put on by the Organic Seed Alliance. The event celebrates the second annual harvest at OSA’s Washington research farm, which serves as the hub of OSA’s Pacific Northwest organic plant breeding, seed education, and variety trial program. In this episode, we’ll discuss OSA’s mission and some of the work they do and we’ll also share their technique for saving tomato seeds. HOW TO LISTEN: Listen right now in your browser by clicking above. Subscribe in iTunes (or your favorite podcast player) to have our podcasts sent directly to your device. Stream from SoundCloud SHOW NOTES: In this episode, we discuss: What the Organic Seed Alliance (OSA) is and their mission. Why organic farmers and gardeners are reliant on organizations like the OSA to help develop seed adapted to their specific farm conditions and climates that don’t require the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers How to save tomato seeds. Important Take-aways: Seeds are a living, natural resource that need careful management to meet food needs now and into the future. The Organic Seed Alliance’s work is crucial to the future of organic farming. Research demonstrates that varieties developed under non-organic growing conditions are not always successful in organic and other low-input systems. Organic growers need crop varieties developed specifically for low-input systems – crops that mitigate pest and disease pressures, and that are adapted to their local conditions and climates.” The OSA is partnering with farmers all over the country to identify seed needs and to trial varieties and collect data. Label any seeds you save with the variety and date! Heard on the Episode: “It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to try seven different types of kale...sided by side. It’s just a good reminder of all of the different vegetable varieties and flavor qualities that are out there.” - Hilary Dahl “I have to say, this was just such a cool experience...I’ve never really done anything like this before. I learned way more than I expected about the importance of seeds in our culture...honestly, I know it’s fall but it got me super jazzed up for planning my spring garden…!” - Kellie Phelan
