Arya and the Brotherhood Without Banners hear about the prophetic dreams of the Ghost of High Heart. Arya also hears news of her family's history that shocks and angers her. While there, they meet with the Ghost of High Heart. She tells them of her dreams. Some seem clearer than others. One thing she makes clear is that if the Brotherhood wants to reunite Arya with her mother, Riverrun isn't the place to go. Catelyn and King Robb have left for a wedding at the Twins.The next day, Beric Dondarion's young squire Ned tells Arya of his connection to her bastard brother Jon Snow. He says they are milk brothers, as his wet nurse Wylla was Jon's mother. It turns out Ned is actually Edric Dayne, lord of Starfall. He explains how his aunt Ashara and Arya's father Ned were once in love long ago, and how Ashara killed herself over a broken heart. Arya doesn't want to hear about it and rides off. That evening, Thoros of Myr sees a vision in the flames of Riverrun under siege by a Lannister army. This news causes lord Beric to pause their progress toward Riverrun until more information can be gathered. An upset Arya runs off. The gesture came so easily it was as if she hadn’t just had to climb the wall and pick the lock. All around her, the room was still and dark as an abyss and the night breeze sent a light shiver over her exposed arms. She wondered why she sensed no guards, no magical alarms.  After all, she had come for the Heart of El Kyraz, a ruby big as a man’s fist. It was said that the stone had great powers if one had the strength to command it. Surely a gem merchant of Sher Kalia’s status would at least have mortal guards to protect such a jewel. Rumor held that she’d had one of the most famous wizards in the city as her lover. She’d have asked for wards, have asked him to send the cold blue light of his power around her most cherished possessions. The price of such protection would have been nothing more than pillow talk to someone as wealthy as Kalia.

Sometimes people close to you say "little things" that can rub you the wrong way, but more than likely when it's addressed, it's said to be advice or help, but in all actuality it was SIMPLY HATING! Speaking with Ashara Ekundayo was such a treat that I didn’t want to miss a word. This was one of those conversations where I didn’t even glance at the list of questions I’d prepared. Ashara is a cultural strategist, she’s a committed supporter of the arts and she’s a deep thinker about how we can better value design, creativity, artist communities and ultimately the cultural assets that make a city worth living in. Ashara is based in Oakland in California, which is fortuitious because I’ve just returned from a trip to neighbouring San Fransisco, where gentrification and urban renewal is rapidly changing the face of the city and threatens to smother the cultural value that makes it so special.
