Door policy ranks highly among the hotly contentious issues in nightlife these days. Lots of folks wanna know- why, oh why can't everyone and their mother waltz with ease into whatever party they'd like?! Which was my frame of mind for many years. That is, until one of my guests explained why that's often not the case.I'm joined by two NYC icons from the House of Aviance, Xander C. Gaines and Clinton Davidson- legends for working the door and a plethora of other reasons, who expound upon just why that is. Tune in for some seldomly spilled tea, tips, tricks and stories. And then you too shall (hopefully) pass and come thru, come thru, come thru- to the party.Have an insatiable appetite for all things rave? When Beyoncé released her newest album, Renaissance, a few months ago, she paid homage to a culture that shaped who she became as a performer. In her liner notes she said: “Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you.” Today, we talk to one of those pioneers, Kevin Aviance. We learn how a young boy in Richmond, Virginia went from singing Aretha Franklin in his sister's dress to being inducted into the famed House of Aviance in Washington DC, and later sampled on the biggest album of 2022. We talk about the different schools of drag and how the scene has changed over the last 30 years. Does the mainstreaming of drag make the world a safer place? Plus, hear the song that Beyoncé lifted up and celebrated on her track Pure/Honey. Follow Kevin Aviance on instagram: @kevinavianceofficial Your host is Levi Chambers, founder of Rainbo Media Co. Shon speaks to New York-based drag artist and DJ, Kevin Aviance. When Kevin first found himself in Washington D.C.'s nightlife scene during the club kid era, he didn't expect drag to become his life or to be welcomed into the le-gen-dary ‘House of Aviance'. And he certainly didn't expect his brief feature in a Madonna music video to catapult him to fame.If this series is about meeting queer icons, Kevin Aviance is indeed that. His performances epitomise the dance culture of the 1990s and 2000s, when parties lasted all day and night, and dance floors were packed with the cities queer cliques. His story is also tinged with darkness and is a stark reminder of the threats our community still faces today but, as Kevin shows, you can't keep a good queen down. For more from Novel visit novel.audio Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Party Favorz is back with volume three of the Ultimate 90's House Classics [1998 - 1999] and this set dives deep into progressive territory. We kick the party off with one of our all-time favorties 'Lately' by Divine with Joanathan Peters performing remix duties. With it's ubeat synths and fantstic harmonies — 'Lately' packed floor every time it dropped. Of course all the club favorites from this era are here like Faith Hill's 'Breathe' and the sweeping Hex Hector accompanying remix, 'Sexual' by Amber (a Thunderpuss instant classic), 'I Will Go With You' by Donna Summer that was packaged with the some of the biggest name DJs from that period, 'Someone To Hold' by Veronica showcasing Johnny Vicious' versatility who would go on to be an in demand DJ in the early millennium, Whitney Houston's defiant 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' (another Thunderpuss instant classic that takes the R&B original and jacks it up by a factor of 100 while blowing a hole in the roof with Whitney's powerful vocals - thank you Clive) and the massive 'You're Still the One' by Shania Twain courtesy of Soul Solution. Some of you may be looking at this track list and scratching your heads over the inclusion of 'Ojos Asi' by Shakira. I grew up in South Texas and the Columbian born singer was already a massive star through Central America, Mexico and various pockets of the United States with large Latino populations. The song has a strong middle eastern sound and was not like anything else on her fourth album the critically acclaimed and multi-platnium 'Dónde Están los Ladrones? It was tacked on to what was otherwise a more rock and acoustic album that elicited comparisons to Alanis Morissette. Once the video dropped for 'Ojos Asi' all bets were off. The song blew up and Shakria had arrived. Under the tutelage of Emilio Estefan (husban of Gloria Estefan), Shakira was primed to cross over into the American market and it would be two years before she dropped her first English language album 'Laundry Service' in the states. The remix for 'Ojos Asi' is often credited to Thunderpuss but was actually Pablo Flores who was also producer on her album. The song was an instant floorfiller upon its release in 1999 and frankly, fits in nicely with the tracks that surround it. Before there was Todrick Hall or Lil Nas X — there was Kevin Aviance. 'Rhythm Is My Bitch' was his second of three #1 dance club hits, which followed his 80's remake 'Din Da Da' and was proceeded by 'Alive' in 2002 with two other top 5 releases 'Give It Up' and 'Strut.' He had a cameo in Madonna's 'Secret' video and has worked with Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. He was also a member of the vogue-ball house 'House of Aviance' and was a gender bending leader who paved the path for others. Check out the video below: https://youtu.be/Nk7GilPqr1I I've still got two possibly three more sets to go in this series. I'm setting a goal of getting them all out this next week without sacraficing tracks or quality. It gets harder once you start getting to the bottom but I'm convinced I can work it out. Until the next time...ENJOY! Album : The Ultimate 90's House Classics [1998 – 1999] Vol. 3 Genre : 90's Classic House Year : 2021 Total Time : 3:30:12 1. Divine - Lately (Jonathan Peters Full Mix) 2. The evidence is horrific and undeniable, so (of course) Julie & Brandy are enraged and drinking to deal with their feelings. Now Papa Joe has announced his latest project, an animated black super-hero series entitled Electric Negro. Amazon Best selling Author Papa Joe Aviance Today on The Neil Haley Network's Dr. Christopher Hall Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Amazon Best selling Author Papa Joe Aviance. Papa Joe Aviance is a successful clothing designer, musician and CEO of his LA-based production company, Papa Joe Networks. This triple threat was able to get to where he is today because of his drive, ambition and positivity. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Papa Joe saw first-hand the importance of a strong work ethic. His grandfather's own business savvy inspired him to travel the world as a successful businessman, eventually moving to New York City to work his way up the ranks on Wall Street for several high profile companies. However, seeking an outlet for his creativity, Papa Joe moved to Hollywood in 2002 to pursue a career in acting and music. ? In 2009, Papa Joe revolutionized the music world when his first release, “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life,” (Kult Records) a collaboration with international house music sensation Lula became an overnight smash hit and topped the charts worldwide. The track hit #6 on the Billboard Magazine Dance Charts, but the song's impact went much deeper than just making Papa Joe a household name – it changed his entire outlook on life. As the music video from “Last Night…” played in rotation around the clock on MTV, Vh1 and other music channels, he realized how uncomfortable and dissatisfied he was in his own skin – at that time, Papa Joe's weight had ballooned to 450lbs.

Papa Joe Aviance AKA Electric Negro!!! Shares His Journey From Snackin, To Panty Droppin & Comics!!! I'll Inspire You To Be A HERO Too!!!
Papa Joe Aviance has done it all! He has a successful clothing company, his music topped the Billboard charts, he's a two-time Amazon Best-Selling author, and he is soon to be a Television Producer. Papa Joe's journey began after his song “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” was number six on Billboard's Dance Chart. The music video for the song was being played round the clock on MTV and VH-1 and that's when he realized he was dissatisfied with his four hundred and fifty pound body. Papa Joe started walking daily and in eighteen months he lost two hundred and fifty pounds! His transformation was so extreme that he was asked to be on several talk shows such as Rachael Ray, The Doctors, The Hallmark Channel, and even became a spokesman for the American Heart Association. With his newfound fame, Papa Joe used his platform to start several successful business ventures and best-selling self-help books. Today Papa Joe has announced his latest project, an animated black super-hero series entitled Electric Negro. Electric Negro is starting as an animated TV series and will be followed by a live-action series, as well as a line of fan merchandise. The show is making headlines while in the final stages of distribution with letters of intent from AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), Denzel Whitaker (Black Panther), and many more who have already signed on to the project as voice actors for the main characters.

Tonight on Radar Radio USA. We welcome the beautiful and talented Ms SHEEK. The Beautiful Rapstress hales from Boston and is a super star in her own right. She is truly one of the dopest rappers I have ever heard. Her story and lyrics are provocative. Be on the look out for her come up. We also had the pleasure of interviewing author, speaker, and realtor CHRISTOPHER ONEAL. This brother has grown from music producer and manager to reality show creator and realtor. Next up is VEDO U, who is CEO of STAY TIGHT ENT. Shared with us what's going on with his company and artist and how the show EMPIRE has open the door to some of his artist music. Lastly, the bad girls of R&B "AVIANCE" shut the house down with a dope interview and music set. These young ladies remind me so much of TLC and they are truly going to be a hit! Push play and enjoy:)
