Keepin It Real w/ Caramel Podcast interviewed Mo Moshaty, and we had a very deep conversation about horror, which I am not a fan of horror or anything involving horror. Mo Moshaty loves every single moment of horror. She started watching horror movies at a young age, and she became a big fan of horror. Mo Moshaty is a genre screenwriter, author, and lecturer. With a concentration on psychological and possession horror in her writing. Mo's background as a trauma specialist and behavioral therapist provides a sturdy foundation. She is the creator of the course, “Writing Trauma Respectfully for Screen '' and was a Guest Lecturer for Prairie View A&M University's Film and TV Program and with Horror BAFSS in Sheffield, UK for No Return: A Yellowjackets Symposium. There is so much more to Mo Moshaty. Mo is a journalist and co-founder with Nyx Horror Collective and co-producer of the 13 Minutes of Horror Film Festival featured on The Shudder Channel. Nyx Horror Collective was founded by a group of diverse woman-identifying horror creators to develop, celebrate, and elevate original, women-led horror content. As a core member of Nyx, she has recently partnered with Stowe Story Labs to provide a fellowship for women writers over 40 working in the genre. Mo also served as Associate Producer on Scottish Indie SciFi Horror web series, “Cops and Monsters”, and was ecstatic to shine more of a light on indie horror. Mo's most recent literary work can be found in "A Quaint and Curious Volume of Gothic Tales," published by Brigid's Gate Press, and "206 Word Stories" by Bag O' Bones Press. Her novel "Love The Sinner" is a thought-provoking examination of sin by the co-founder of the Nyx Horror Collective. According to Dante, a sin is the misdirection of love - the human will, or essentially, the direction of our beings. "Love the Sinner" is an examination of just how those sins can kaleidoscope into horrific consequences, creating a distorted and deadly landscape. These stories stand stark before you in full glaring misstep and macabre to show the human psyche in all its twisted reality. You can find "Love The Sinner" at Love the Sinner - Kindle edition by Moshaty, Mo, Turpitt, Elle, Oxler, Carey, Ellis, Stephanie. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com. Jake Graydon is a filmmaker, and he told a story of creating his very first film. At first, he asked his brother to help him with his idea, but his brother was too busy. So he decided to write it himself, and after completing the script, decided he wanted to direct his film — he had grown so fond of the characters and the story, that he didn't want to hand it off to anyone else. He created his film, had a great deal of support and wonderful actors to carry his unique story about love and family connection. He entered his film into festivals, and one — a Horror Film Festival — resulted in great acclaim. He received so much positive feedback, it has inspired him to continue. Even The Darkness Has Arms is his film - please, view it. He loves filmmaking, and he loves storytelling — and the question for the group was about how we connect with others based on the human connection, not focusing on what separates or divides us, but on what brings us together. Check the calendar of events at www.peacealliance.org/calendar, join us at our next Hope Story Circle and share your emerging stories. Our next one will be October 14th, and will be our 100th Hope Story Circle! We are planning a virtual celebration where we will invite all of those who have been our guests — following which, we will put a pause on the Hope Story Circles, for now. Please join us!

The Video Monsters share their thoughts on the 14th annual Knoxville Horror Film Festival, which ran from Oct. 20th - 23rd at the Parkway Drive-In and Central Cinema in Knoxville, TN. From canonical classics like CREEPSHOW, FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), ARMY OF DARKNESS, RE-ANIMATOR, and FROM BEYOND; to the FULCI LIVES triple feature; to some of biggest genre hits on this year's festival circuit like KIDS VS ALIENS, HUESERA, TIMEKEEPERS OF ETERNITY, and SOMETHING IN THE DIRT; the folks at Central Cinema once again crushed it with this year's fest. They were even considerate enough to program future Christmas horror classics like THE WOODSMAN, THE LEECH, and CHRISTMAS BLOODY CHRISTMAS so that we could release this episode in December and it still be seasonally appropriate (OK, so maybe that isn't why they picked these killer holiday flicks but isn't it nice how things worked out?) So grab your R.I.P pass, hit the concession stand, snag some Central Cinema merch and meet us in Knoxville because it's time to celebrate BOTH of the most wonderful times of the year with our coverage of the 2022 Knoxville Horror Film Festival!
