Technically this one is Barks' art-only, with Bob Gregory turning in the story. We'll discuss greeting cards, the origin of the Cha Cha, and much more!

Guest Host: Alban Leloup Listeners, this episode is quite packed and fascinating, despite being one of Barks' less-remembered Christmas stories (and in fact, being written not by Barks, but by Bob Gregory). My guest and I talk about the contributions of Barks' wife Gare', the great one-off character Ollie Eiderduck, cross-linguistic puns and the difficulty of translation, and much more!
A Man's Perspective on Business and Life was a film prepared for the employees of Getty Oil Company and Skelly Oil Company shortly before J. Paul Getty's death on June 6, 1976, at age 83. James C. Leake and journalist Bob Gregory produced a 10-part series on Oklahoma oil men, which aired on KTUL Tulsa and KWTV Oklahoma City. Harold Stuart, son-in-law of William “Bill” Skelly and former owner of KVOO Television and Radio, set up a series of interviews for Leake and Gregory which included J. Paul Getty. The announcer in this audio presentation, taken from the film, was the interviewer Bob Gregory. It is believed to be Mr. Getty's last interview, which was conducted at his estate in Sutton Place, England, where he died. At that time, Mr. Getty was known as one of the wealthiest men in the world. A Man's Perspective on Business and Life was donated to Voices of Oklahoma by Nancy Leake Sevenoaks and her husband Richard. J. Paul Getty talks about coming to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, moving to Tulsa, and his fondness for William Skelly. Getty credits his father for his business success and shares his experience in the oil business on the oral history website VoicesOfOklahoma.com.

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - took one last time to give their pregame thoughts ahead of today's game one of the 2022 season between the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Washington Huskies. In the first segment, they break down the offense, starting with the quarterbacks and running backs. Kim has a little different thought than the other two when it comes to leading the show on that side of the ball. Do you agree with him? They also talk about the revamped offensive line with Jaxson Kirkland having to sit out. Chris has a bit of a take on why Roger Rosengarten is starting at right tackle, and it may have something to do with who UW's quarterback is. After a quick break, the talk turns to the defense, and they will have their hands full with Kent State's 'FlashFAST' offense, one that ran over 1050 plays last year and averaged more yards per play than Alabama. The Huskies will be unveiling a scheme that may look similar to the nickel defense run by Jimmy Lake and Bob Gregory last season, but they are going to go about their business in a different way. They guys talk about the impact they expect transfer CB Jordan Perryman will make, as well as a new-look linebacking corps. Cam Bright has certainly made an impact, but Alphonzo Tuputala beating out Carson Bruener at MIK caught some off guard too. After talking about the defensive line and the impressive group of edge players the Huskies will roll out tonight, the guys take another quick break before giving their final thoughts on the game and Scott also throws out a little bit of a recruiting update as UW targets their game versus Michigan State as their next big visit weekend. And with 19 verbal commitments in the boat at the time of this airing, how many more commitments will the Huskies take? And are they keeping some in their back pocket for the transfer portal? Taking their 2nd coach from the Washington Huskies, the Ducks have added former defensive coordinator/interim head coach Bob Gregory to their staff. Multiple reasons as to why this is yet another move Duck fans should feel good about. Oregon Basketball's season officially came to an end over the weekend, 75-60 against top-seeded Texas A&M in Round 2 of the NIT. Despite N'Faly Dante returning, it wasn't the Ducks' night as the offense struggled throughout. In his post-game press conference, Dana Altman had some very interesting things to say about the future of his team and what they need to do in order to improve. If Jimmy Lake was around, he'd be all over the gamesmanship that comes with an Apple Cup. So who knows if Bob Gregory simply felt he needed to do his part to keep that aspect of the rivalry alive, but he certainly played his part Monday in the only media availability before the Huskies and Cougars tangle in the 113th playing of the game. Here is the full audio from the media session, where Gregory was unwilling to give any injury updates, as he said he would after the Colorado loss, as well as how Sam Huard might be used, what he expects to see from the Cougars, motivation despite not being bowl eligible, and more. No doubt Lake would have been proud of how Gregory handled this media session ahead of the game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

It's our longest episode ever which is only fitting given the mess the UW football team has made for themselves and the rough start to the basketball season. Recorded in two parts, come listen to our thoughts on the football team's performance on Stanford, Oregon, and Arizona State, Jimmy Lake's fatal mistakes that lead to his suspension and eventual termination, and who we think the search committee should target. We also discuss a shaky start for Mike Hopkins and the basketball squad and get our directional state colleges confused for powerhouses. @35:05 – Ken Pomeroy's rankings (where Northern Illinois is now at 313 as of time of publishing): https://kenpom.com/ @42:35 – The Bruce Feldman article: https://theathletic.com/2954205/2021/11/14/washington-football-coaching-job-profile-with-jimmy-lake-out-pluses-minuses-candidates-and-more/ @43:15 – He was the defensive coordinator at Utah and Oregon State in the 2010s. Trent McDuffie wasn't aware of the name 'Death Row' until he got to Montlake, but he soon found out all about it through the play of guys like Myles Bryant and Elijah Molden. And now he's all about making sure his name is added to those before him. That's just a part of what the defensive players and coaches - McDuffie, Edefuan Ulofoshio, and Bob Gregory - spoke to the media about on Wednesday. Gregory is as experienced as it gets for being the 'new' defensive coordinator after taking over from Pete Kwiatkowski, and he spoke of the transition from last year, as well as his take on Montana's offense and what he expects to see from their quarterback, Cam Humphrey. He also spoke about the Grizzlies' number 18, receiver Samuel Akem. The COVID-19-induced recession will be nothing like any recession, indeed depression, we have seen before. The difference this time is that the government is not reacting to poor market performance. Rather, it has actively directed business across Australia to close its doors. Bob Gregory is a former board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia. He says that the economy will be 'grim for six to nine months' and after that, it is impossible to know. Bob Gregory is Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University. Also Behavioural economist Bob Slonim explains why we need to think more creatively to inspire more downloads of the COVIDSafe app. Former research director of the prime minister's BETA unit, Bob Slonim is now at Sydney University.

Washington head football coach Chris Petersen, inside linebackers coach Bob Gregory and senior linebacker Brandon Wellington talk with Tony Castricone about the Huskies' recent win over BYU and the upcoming game at home against Southern Cal.
The first game of the season is this weekend and as the Huskies prepare to stop an explosive Eastern Washington attack, the defensive players and staff know they have their work cut out for them. We got the chance to catch up with defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake who talked about playing a lot of different players in the secondary including two new starters -- Kyler Gordon and true freshman Cameron Williams -- both of whom the coaches and players feel very comfortable with in the deep patrol. Co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski has some familiarity with the Eastern Washington coaching staff, so there isn't a lot of unknowns as far as what they will see on Saturday. The linebackers have to replace a lot of leadership and experience, but linebackers coach Bob Gregory told the media he feels like the players he has stepping into those spots -- Brandon Wellington and Kyler Manu as well as youngsters Jackson Sirmon and M.J. Tafisi -- are more than capable of getting it done and now is their chance to show what they can do. Even though he's been around for a while, Gregory said he still gets the jitters and wouldn't be coaching anymore if he didn't still get them. He also discussed how seeing an opponent early in the season, especially in college, where they don't have a lot of film or just a limited scouting report makes things easier because you can just go out and play ball instead of being overloaded with information. Linebackers Kyler Manu and Brandon Wellington talked about getting their first starts at Husky Stadium and how big it is for Manu to finally earn a starting spot after five years in the program. Finally, Elijah Molden and Levi Onwuzurike talked about finally getting the chance to hit someone that isn't wearing purple. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Last season, Washington finished tied for 103 in the nation with just 24 sacks last season, it goes without saying that the Huskies want to improve that aspect of their defense this season. That's been a focus for the front seven all offseason and now that things are near the midway point of fall camp, the focus has turned toward who can get the job done coming off the edge and getting pressure on the quarterback. Kim Grinolds spoke with defensive line coach Ikaika Malloe about the improvement along the defensive line and how Benning Potoa'e is one of the more versatile players they have up front and how smooth his transition from outside linebacker to defensive tackle has gone. Redshirt sophomore Ariel Ngata is a player who the coaches specifically brought in to get after the quarterback and we asked him about what he's focused on to help him get better off the edge and what has made the difference for him when comparing what he could do last year as opposed to this year. Bob Gregory, the linebackers coach, spent time discussing some of his younger players and having four players who played quarterback in high school are now playing linebacker for him as well as how the position has changed in today's college football. Levi Onwuzurike, the elder statesmen of a young defensive line group, talked about facing off with Nick Harris every day and what makes the offensive line so tough to go up against during practice.
