Happy Holidays Kids! Ray and Angus have a festive discussion reviewing Christmas in Duckburg: The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 21. Ray also fondly reflects on his comics journey with Uncle Scrooge McDuck! Walt Disney's Donald Duck Vol. 21: Christmas in Duckburg: The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 21 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXCRBKG When Donald decides to let the boys pick their own Christmas present they choose — a Ferris Wheel! Only Uncle Scrooge can pay for a Ferris Wheel, but he'll only do it if Donald goes to Canada to pick up a 100-foot Christmas tree for the town square. Oh, if only it were that easy! Then, Donald becomes a firefighter and dreams of rescuing a damsel in distress and proving he is brave and noble in “The Lovelorn Fireman.” And, when Uncle Scrooge notices an unidentified island in the South Pacific, the race is on for him to claim it for himself! Carl Barks delivers another superb collection of imaginative exuberance, rollicking high adventure, and all-around cartooning brilliance. Guest: Nils Lid Hjort Welcome to a very special episode, a cross-post with the Barks Remarks podcast! We are discussing Rosa's take on one of Barks' Gyro Gearloose stories, that the Duck Man abandoned in roughly 1958 or 1959, after penciling just 3 pages. The editors later assigned Don Rosa to provide his take on a complete story, published in 1990. Dutch comics legend Daan Jippes would also take on the assignment, published in 2007. So, for this episode, we get to discuss the efforts of three Disney comics legends!

Guest Host: Morten Guldberg Welcome back, listeners! Episode 2 is devoted to Rosa's first ten-page gag story, a spiritual follow-up to Carl Barks' "Some Heir Over the Rainbow," and an opportunity for Don Rosa to set a tale that sprawls throughout Barks' version of 1950s Duckburg. This story packs a lot into its tight ten-page narrative, including Rosa's first use of Gladstone Gander and Gyro Gearloose, memorable walk-on characters like Col. Hogland Gristleburger, and an unusual closing gag that serves as a play on the name of the story's original publisher!
Guest Hosts: Dan Cunningham & Mikkel Hagen Prepare for a high stakes float down the Tulebug River, listeners, as we explore one of Carl Barks' greatest Uncle Scrooge adventures, "the Money Well!" My guests and I talk about this Duckburg set adventure, one of the stories where Scrooge is going to efforts to keep his money away from the Beagle Boys! We'll talk about similarities to "Only a Poor Old Man," and much more!
Today Mike and Stan continue with our focus on Gizmoduck episodes from the original Ducktales. In "A Case Of Mistaken Secret Identity", all of Duckburg suddenly believes Launchpad is Gizmoduck, which doesn't go over well with Fenton. We've got some great running jokes in this episode, as well as Webra Walters, more Beagle Boys and weird Toon Disney edits. We also compare this one with a very similar Darkwing Duck episode you might be familiar with. All this plus some new merchandise news! So shut off Geralduck Rivera for a while and turn your dial to the St Canard Files! Links- https://linktr.ee/StCanardFiles DW #DarkwingDuck #Ducktales #DisneyAfternoon This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
Today, the incredible origin of Gizmoduck continues with part 3 of Super Ducktales - "Full Metal Duck"! Fenton is riding high as Duckburg's favorite superhero, if only he knew how to take the suit off. Meanwhile, Ma Beagle hatches (or make that bakes) a plan to turn the tables once and for all. All this plus Webra Walters, Quackerjacks (the snack, not the jester) and, of course, the Country Twanging Toast Timer! Don't miss it! Happy New Year St Canardians! Welcome to 2023! Today Mike and Stan are looking at part 2 of Super Ducktales - "Frozen Assets" - where Fenton screws up once again, Scrooge's new security robot takes things too literally and the Beagle Boys race to stay one step ahead of Duckburg's newest superhero, GIZMODUCK! Plus, we discuss lines of dialog (and even some animation) that were changed for the TV movie version and give some love to Ron Jones, the composer of Ducktales. So hang on to your bag of dimes, set off your aerial popcorn and fireworks display and ring in the new year with us! This episode is all about Barks' famous "statue building contest." This is one of his more outlandish ten-pagers, featuring an absolutely wild competition between Uncle Scrooge (who opens his purse strings for once, in defense of his title of world's richest man) and the Maharajah of Howduystan! The story also features some neat world-building, in the subject of the statues: Cornelius Coot, founder of Duckburg.
The St. Canard & Duckburg crossover "Dangerous Currency" story arc will have to wait another week. Today we have another filler episode by Will & Stan!! Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
In Episode 60 of the Crooked Table Podcast, Robert Yaniz Jr. visits the way-back machine to discuss two phenomena of his youth or, more specifically, the year 1987. As cult classic and perennial Halloween favorite The Monster Squad celebrates 30 years since its initial theatrical release, Disney XD launches its much-anticipated reboot of popular animated series DuckTales ("Woo-oo!"). It's as if 1987 is some kind of focal point, connecting the entertainment of the past to the present in some meaningful way. Or, at the very least, it's a good opportunity to create the most unlikely pairing ever to hit the Crooked Table Podcast. So let's gather up the Monster Squad and head to Duckburg because, '87, it's your time to shine. We're excited to hear your feedback as the Crooked Table Podcast continues to evolve. As usual, the show does feature explicit language and, as such, is best considered NSFW. Thanks for listening!
