Altercados, destrozos de vidrieras, autos quemados, docenas de heridos y cerca de 900 detenidos. Si el Paris Saint-Germain se consagró como campeón y decenas de miles lo celebraron pacíficamente, ¿por qué el fin de semana terminó con una nueva ola de violencia en la capital francesa y a lo largo y ancho del país? RFI lo conversó con el sociólogo Dominique Bodin. Ni es la primera vez, ni ocurre sólo cuando ganan, ni es exclusivo de eventos deportivos. Hace años que grupos violentos aprovechan la concentración de masas para generar desmanes en Francia.  Para Dominique Bodin, sociólogo especialista en violencia en el Deporte y profesor del Instituto de Estudios Políticos de Fontainebleau, estos eventos se encuadran en la foto mucho más amplia de una sociedad francesa en crisis.  "No hay ninguna relación entre el fútbol, la victoria del París Saint-Germain y los que se comportaron de forma violenta y agresiva en estos dias", dice Bodin a RFI. "En primer lugar, desde hace mucho tiempo, el mundo político francés da un ejemplo lamentable de los comportamientos que pueden existir; me refiero a que varios partidos políticos apoyan el uso de la violencia y son ellos mismos violentos en sus discursos, en sus palabras, en su forma de ser y de actuar". Según el especialista, otro factor clave se centra en la tímida respuesta judicial, al margen del número de detenidos. "Hay una serie de jóvenes que se están buscando a sí mismos en cuanto a su futuro, a cómo formar parte de la sociedad, porque realmente no hay prohibiciones. Me refiero a que las condenas por alteración del orden público - por destrozar las calles, romper vidrieras, robar en tiendas, detener coches- son condenadas débilmente. Se trata más bien de medidas educativas. A los jóvenes les da totalmente igual", afirma Bodin. Por último, cita lo que en Sociología se denomina como la "Teoría de las oportunidades", donde grupos aprovechan el ambiente festivo, que puede ser en una victoria deportiva o, mismo, en una celebración de la fiesta nacional del 14 de Julio, para hacer fechorías, pasando más desapercibidos.  ¿Quiénes son? Según el experto, no se trata de un conjunto de miles de personas, sino de pequeños grupos que llegan, que aparentemente no tienen nada que ver entre sí, que dan el golpe juntos y luego se van cada uno por su lado: "Es mucho más complejo que hablar solo de personas en situación exclusión social", dice. "Sería fácil decir: 'Bueno, al fin y al cabo son pobres, delincuentes y violentos', pero no es eso, es mucho más variado; hay gente perfectamente integrada que, aun así, va a destrozar y a robar". Para Bodin, la policía - con un despliegue de 22.000 agentes- hizo su trabajo, pero las 900 detenciones no quieren decir nada, sino se sigue de cerca qué condenas se dictarán después. For more than 30 years, Bodin has worked with more than two thousand children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of educational and treatment settings. He is the architect of the unique “Team Approach” that Bodin brings to its cases and developed the visionary integrative approach to serving clients that is the model for the industry. He was the recipient of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs 2009 Essential Piece Award for Outstanding Service educating members of Congress and the Senate about our industry. He was also the co-recipient, along with Miriam Bodin, of the 2011 Reaching for the Stars Award of the Sky's the Limit Foundation for a career in Outstanding Service to Young People and Their Families.

Collaboration is one of the most widely accepted ideas in environmental governance. When faced with a complex problem, the instinct is almost always to bring stakeholders together and work toward a shared solution. When that process fails the response is often to “collaborate harder”. But what if that instinct is sometimes counterproductive? What if the sheer number of collaborative initiatives is stretching participants so thin that none of them achieve very much? And what if the conflicts that collaboration is supposed to resolve are actually being deepened by the process itself?To explore these questions, I spoke with previous guest Örjan Bodin, Professor at the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University. Örjan's research examines how networks of actors collaborate — or fail to collaborate — around environmental problems, and what determines whether those efforts lead to meaningful outcomes.
