A legal drama on steroids! Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, an ultra-MAGA patriot who was subjected to yet more weaponized legalism, more lawfare, but this time, at the hands of his fellow Republicans, the George Bush-Karl Rove wing of the Republican Party that has just officially imploded; it is dead, and we're here to celebrate! Highlights: “That impeachment by the Texas state house over Memorial Day weekend was based entirely on hearsay and innuendo, there wasn't a shred of actual evidence of any crime committed whatsoever by Paxton! And his attorneys all last week during the senate trial put on a masterclass of deconstructing fake charges devoid of any semblance of evidence!” “Paxton's acquittal demonstrates that the Bush-Rove wing of the party has largely lost its ability to coerce and dictate the Texas GOP!” Timestamps: [00:49] The Ken Paxton senate trial in Texas is finally over [03:01] The case against Paxton was an absolute farce [06:14] The Bush dynasty has finally come to an end! [00:30] The Divided Republican Party (33 minutes) Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his sham impeachment trial, stated in his closing argument that the trial has exposed “a partisan fight within the Republican Party” and “a battle for power.” Many Republicans would rather ally with Barack Obama's Communist regime than support Republicans who favor Donald Trump. In an interview on Meet the Press yesterday, President Trump stated that America doesn't have “much of a democracy right now.” [33:00] America's Crime Epidemic (11 minutes) Obama was supposed to heal America's race problems, but random acts of racially charged violence and crime are becoming more and more common in American cities. [44:15] Constitution Day (11 minutes) Yesterday was Constitution Day, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution. America's founding documents contain many principles from the supreme law of God revealed in the Bible.
That's the sum total of much of today's show. In all seriousness, the GOP social media scene (which is not reality) was on fire all weekend long on stories of infidelity, inappropriate public behavior, and interview answers from Trump on gender and abortion that Stigall tries to handle in a nuanced way. Of course, in 2023 - political nuance is mostly dead. But he soldiers on nevertheless. Plus, a vicious and cold blooded killing in Vegas, John Fetterman further erodes any shred of dignity left in Congress, and Russell Brand is accused of rape all of the sudden. - For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigall Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/ Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPod Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A lightning Russian invasion into a neighboring state sends shockwaves around the world. President Putin blames the west, and in particular the United States, for triggering its attack. The White House scrambles to make the right response. Not Ukraine today, but Georgia in 2008, when then-President George W. Bush was stunned by a Russian attack on one of its neighbors. It proved a learning moment and demonstrates how the Bush era continues to shape American foreign policy. For more on this, Christiane speaks with President Bush's former national security advisor Stephen Hadley, whose new book Hand-Off digs into the top-secret foreign policy memos Bush handed to his successor, President Obama. David Frum and Max Boot, two neoconservatives who helped grease the wheels for the invasion of Iraq, have some thoughts they'd like to share with us as we approach the 20th anniversary of that horrific and unforgivable war. Both of these perspectives can be read in widely esteemed mainstream publications, because everyone who was responsible for inflicting that war upon our species has enjoyed mainstream influence and esteem to this very day. Rachel, Zoe, and Andrew begin this disgusting journey with the 2008 Bush Era film 'Iron Man' and naturally, they discuss Rachel's childhood film making, a bug that stalked Andrew around his Apartment, and Zoe takes a hallucinogen 'for the content'.
On this Memorial Day, I'd like to thank all of the Gold Star families—the families of veterans who have lost their lives fighting for this country. It's their sacrifice that made it possible for me to safely sit in this studio and film our program, and for all the viewers to sit at home and watch it. Let's never forget their sacrifices. According to newly released White House documents from 2004, the George W. Bush administration was conducting a classified review of the president's secret emergency powers, which they believed granted the president access to a “kill switch” that could turn off internet access to all, or most, Americans. ⭕️ Sign up for our NEWSLETTER and stay in touch
A review of Tuesday's primaries in Texas, featuring George P Bush's attempt to topple the state attorney general. Plus, a Presidents Week look at some classic movies and the presidents they portrayed. The post Episode #383: The End Of The Bush Era? appeared first on Ken Rudin's Political Junkie.
Nicole and Stu start at the beginning with 2008's Iron Man. There was no plan. There wasn't even a script. An indie director on the come-up took a long-shot casting a burnt out has-been who's charisma and pathos single-handedly turned a mid-tier action film into a monster hit that would spawn a monstrous cultural behemoth. We take a look at the troubled production, Downey Jr's charisma, and the film's confused politics as it tries simultaneously to critique the military-industrial complex while celebrating American empire and exceptionalism at the close of the Bush Era. Production by Miguel Tanhi. Art by Zoe Woolley. Follow us at @MarvelousDeath for updates! This is a super interesting time in dialogue box history. Today we're squatting it out, calling a president president, playing with toy trains, indulging a ludicrous plan, speaking with a dummy, leaping over train cars, inputting codes, performing enhanced interrogation techniques, reading Anarchist Monthly, melting into a zombie, wondering what just happened, reciting contract terms, and resolving to intercept a broadcast. In this week's show, we start off with a few current events and then head into a discussion around Elon Musk. We go through his major milestones and background, and I try to verify the validity of meritocracy claims in a segment called The Genius Entrepreneur. In the second half of the show, we go through the events of 2001 and their fallout, including the twin towers, the anthrax attacks, the Patriot Act, invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, Guantanamo Bay and Abu Graib prisons and their respective history of torture and waterboarding. Thanks for watching and have an excellent rest of your week. https://www.explodingstarpodcast.blog

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change has posted a lengthy essay by the former British Prime Minister who led the United Kingdom into two of the most unconscionable military interventions in living memory. Blair criticizes the withdrawal as having been done out of "obedience to an imbecilic political slogan about ending 'the forever wars'," bloviating about “Radical Islam,” and asking, "has the West lost its strategic will?" So much fiction of the 2000s seemed eager to comment on the politics of the time. From the War on Terror, to the Patriot Act, we discuss how the politics of the Bush-era were examined through sci-fi and fantasy. Notes: 13:12 - Moore apparently disliked this adaptation, being annoyed that his anarchist messages were dropped and the villain took on a more neoconservative flavor. 13:28 - Margaret Thatcher was the British Prime Minister whose leadership seemed to influence Moore's writing of V for Vendetta. Tony Blair was the Prime Minister for much of the Bush years and supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq. 21:40 - Terrorism is generally defined as politically motivated violence which specifically targets non-combatants. Under this definition, the Joker would not qualify as he does not seem to be motivated by a political agenda. 24:04 - "Enhanced interrogation" was a popular euphemism for torture. 29:40 - There is ongoing debate among historians about slavery in Ancient Greece. It is possible other Greek city-states enslaved Greeks but there is at least some evidence that it was frowned upon and that the Spartans were more comfortable with the idea. 31:31 - Side Rant Intro and outro music: "Swim below as Leviathans" by Fireproof_Babies (featuring Ben Shewmaker) is licensed under CC BY.

Welcome to MintCast, the official MintPress News podcast hosted by Mnar Muhawesh. MintCast is an interview podcast featuring dissenting voices, independent researchers and journalists the establishment would rather silence. In this episode, we are joined by Aaron Mate -- investigative journalist, contributor to The Nation and host of “Pushback” on The Grayzone. Mate has spent the last four years covering the mainstream media and U.S. intelligence claim that Russia hacked the U.S. elections in 2016.Most recently, Mate revealed a bombshell that Crowdstrike, the firm behind the accusation that Russia hacked and stole DNC emails, admitted to Congress that it had no direct evidence that Russia actually stole the emails or infiltrated DNC servers. Thanks in part to the global pandemic that has been dominating headlines, the revelation was not picked up by corporate media, the same corporate media, that for the past four years, worked diligently to convince the American public that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections to help Donald Trump. The mass hysteria caused by Russiagate since 2016 caused so much paranoia that the American public became convinced that Russia was corrupting and manipulating the American political system. However, very little evidence was presented to the back that claim. In fact, the most famous claim published by the New York Times and the Associated Press in 2017 was that “all intelligence agencies agree Russia hacked our elections.” These same news organizations would later retract that claim yet they still continued to peddle that narrative. For another two years, U.S. political and media voices continued to promote the narrative that President Donald Trump conspired with the Kremlin and that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would prove it through his probe which was released last year. Most recently, however, previously sealed FBI documents “indicate close contacts between Israel and the Trump campaign and that the Mueller investigation found evidence of Israeli involvement, but largely redacted it.” This was largely ignored by the same outlets peddling Russiagate. Mate argues, “the real Russiagate scandal is the damage it has done to our democratic system and media.”This program is 100 percent listener supported! Hop in your F/A-18F Super Hornet and plot a course for 2001, because Lewis and Nick have brought in amateur Bosnian War scholar Jose for consultation on "Behind Enemy Lines" (2001). Jose teaches us more about the Bosnian conflict of 1992-95 in 10 minutes than we've learned in 10 years, and he's just as eager to wallop this trash as we are. Starring a horribly miscast Owen Wilson and a sleepwalking Gene Hackman, "Behind Enemy Lines" is most interesting as one of the earliest relics of War on Terror propaganda from the Bush Era. Opening Monologues. Failed Republican Establishment attempting to "wait out" the Trump Revolution. Old Guard sneakily dividing the GOP, muzzling the MAGA Agenda on borders and trade, laboring under the presumption they'll eventually return to the dominance they enjoyed in the Bush Era. But as discovered all over again in this recent election, it's a poor strategy for their own preferred candidates. There's simply no going back. The chasm between GOP Donors and GOP Voters must ultimately be reconciled on the side of the GOP Voter, which happens to support President Trump in record numbers. Donor efforts to suppress the key issues which motivate and inspire have rendered their dollars sterile. Their constricted "illusions of choice" as dangled before the voters have proven unsuccessful. Ground needs to be gained incrementally, not ceded ideologically. Beware Fake Autopsies. Explaining the concept of "Concern Trolling." In his new book, The Man in the Middle: An Inside Account of Faith and Politics in the George W. Bush Era (B&H Books, 2011), Timothy S. Goeglein, former deputy director of the White House Office of Public Liaison under President George W. Bush, describes his nearly eight years working for the White House. He describes President Bush’s reaction to the 2000 election recount, his response to the tragedy of September 11, and the behind-the-scene deliberations leading up to Bush’s stem cell policy. (Goeglein also, ahem, puts in a plug for the host of this podcast, saying on page 114 that he “relied heavily on my colleague in Public Liaison, Tevi Troy, whose outreach to the American Jewish community was singularly well done.”) In our interview, we talked about Tim’s experiences serving in the White House, why Gary Bauer endorsed John McCain in 2000, and how Tim got Karl Rove to write the foreword to his book. Read all about it, and more, in Goeglein’s story-filled new book. Please become a fan of “New Books in Public Policy” on Facebook, if you haven’t already. Learn more about your ad choices. Special Guests Tonight: Nezua of The Unapologetic Mexican & The Field Negro of the same name. Our Topic: Ramped up Hate in the Failed State. The numbers are in: Hate groups are on the rise, in frightening numbers, and unsurprisingly, the highest hate-rate is among Christian-identifying Americans. As the economic collapse continues, it seems Americans again are easily lead to the divide and conquer strategy that always serves the Elite Class: Attacking fellow men who are also struggling, and never blaming the real culprits causing our distress. The whack-jobs keep shooting, the children protesting are arrested enmasse, and the militias form to fight "immigrants" and people of color. More frightening yet? Most of them are espousing the government doesn't "serve them" not because the new-shiny-face-on-the-kleptocracy, Pres. Obama, is continuing the disastrous policies of the Bush Era... they are protesting because they see him as "too liberal." We are hoping to have a couple guests to speak to the new stressors being left in the Latino and Black communities, and how those effects can be overcome. Life under Obama seems to be more of the same....
