Navigate the cycles of time and break free from the trap of certainty—balance is the key. --- Join and support the community: https://www.creationspaths.com/ This episode of _Creation's Paths_ explores cycles of time and their influence on humanity, spirituality, and modern society. Charlie and Brian delve into themes of uncertainty, the repetitive nature of history, and how we can navigate life's cycles by embracing balance and relinquishing certainty. They reflect on the transition from old societal structures like the divine right of kings to modern ideological cycles, including nationalism and religious devotion. Drawing on pagan traditions, calendars, and metaphors, they emphasize the importance of oscillating perspectives and breaking free from deterministic thinking. The episode concludes with a prayer inspired by Cerridwen, honoring the cyclical nature of life. Send Catherine a text Message"It is above all by the imagination that we achieve perception and compassion and hope." –Ursula K. LeGuin This episode revolves around the Welsh myth of Cerridwen and the Birth of Taliesin. I've worked with this story a number of times. It comes to mind this time of year because Cerridwen is both a goddess and a witch, and this story includes potions, cauldrons, shapeshifting, and poetry. A different theme emerged for me this time in response to our collective uncertainty and questions about action, control, and faith.I hope you find something of value in this meditation.Support the showEmail Catherine at drcsvehla@mythicmojo.comPost a positive review on apple podcasts! Stories From Lore - A Folklore And Nature Podcast

Merry Met One And All,Today was my last full day of storytelling before the festivities of the season commence. It is also the winter solstice, traditionally celebrated between the 21st and 23rd of December, a chance to pause and honour the shortest day of the year and the coming light. I'm sharing a minute of quietude with you this evening. This is a moment I had whilst I prepared for storytelling sessions at The Weald & Downland Living Museum, a place and space I'm incredibly grateful to tell in. Tomorrow is the shortest day and from that point forward the days will gradually get longer. Imperceptible at first but gathering momentum until we eventually reach the vernal equinox, when balance returns once more. Take a moment to pause with the fire and the flickering flame of the parafin lamp as we welcome the return of the light this solstice.Blessed be and a merry winter solstice to all Get full access to Cerridwen's Cauldron at cerridwenscauldron.substack.com/subscribe

Cerridwen is a sixth century sorceress who becomes a well-known historical Welsh goddess. She is married to a giant and has two children when she decides to create a potion of all-knowing omnipotence and magic. Intended for her son, she brews this potion in her magic cauldron, Awen.    However, the potion does not go as planned when a young boy who is stirring the potion accidentally splashes three drops on his thumb and instinctively licks the potion and becomes a powerful shapeshifter with knowledge and insight. The run for his life begins as Cerridwen chases him down through shapeshifting magic and eventually consumes him while in the form of a hen. She becomes pregnant and gives birth to a third child, Taliesin who later becomes the most famous Welsh bard in history.    This episode is rich with discovering the importance of the cauldron and how it connects to your womb, to your magic and to the All That is. Explore the relationship to The Fool in the Tarot with the womb of creation. Could the tale of Cerridwen been a reference to the Lady of the Lake and the tales of Avalon and King Arthur?
