Alban Eilir is here! Discover the magic of love, dreams, and rebirth at the Spring Equinox.--- Join and support the community: https://www.creationspaths.com/ In this episode, we celebrate Alban Eilir, the Spring Equinox festival, and explore its deeper meaning through Christopagan Druidry. Traditionally viewed as the rebirth of light, this sacred time marks the balance of day and night, aligning with the mythology of Angus and Ceridwen—gods of love, dreams, and transformation. We reflect on the seasonal cycles, the importance of planting seeds (both physically and spiritually), and how this equinox connects to personal renewal. Charlie shares a powerful experience of connecting with the divine through dreams, inspiring creative rebirth and artistic passion. Meanwhile, Brian discusses the liminal space of this holiday, highlighting its role in transitions and new beginnings. The conversation also touches on the spiritual impact of the recent lunar eclipse, and the powerful energies influencing this equinox. With themes of hope, rebirth, and connection to nature, this episode offers guidance on how to celebrate the season, from honoring songbirds and sacred storytelling to embracing embodied prayer and movement meditation.

The witches are calling upon the divine in this episode of Back on the Broomstick as Laylla and Chelle share ten (give or take) of the gods and goddesses they work with in their magical practice. From the cauldron-stirring wisdom of Ceridwen to the hearty laughter and boundless generosity of The Dagda, they discuss the deities that have shaped their paths, guided their spells, and occasionally smacked them upside the head with a life lesson or two. And in a shocking twist that will surprise absolutely no one, Chelle will, of course, have Hecate on the list. The witches also take a moment to talk about the Blood Moon that graced the skies on March 14th, bringing with it a transformative energy perfect for removing obstacles from your path and maybe a little bit of bringing justice to light. What did this lunar powerhouse mean for the witches, and can you still tap into the full moon energy even after it's passed?Whether you already have deities you work with or are just starting to feel the pull of divine magic, this episode is a mix of history, personal stories, and a whole lot of witchy laughter. Grab your grimoire, pour one out for the gods, and join Laylla and Chelle for a divine discussion filled with magic, mischief, and a little moonlit madness.Song: Ceridwen and Taliesin by Damh the BardCerridwen by Kristopher HughesThe Horned God of the Witches by MankeyGot a question? This episode we have a famous legend from Wales, featuring the formidable witch goddess Ceridwen, who lives near the shore of Llyn Tegid. The story of Ceridwen's Cauldron is very old and has many different versions, but they all feature her magic cauldron and a fabulous chase filled with transformation - thanks to the magic of Awen. Awen is a Welsh and Breton word for 'inspiration', that magical feeling when your creativity flows beautifully. Think of a time when you have created or been part of something wonderful - maybe a drawing or painting, performing a song or some music, having an idea or telling a story! That creative flow is Awen. And Ceridwen has a recipe for it! There's a saying that goes, “You don't know what you don't know,” and this is especially true when it comes to prepping for birth. If you aren't informed about the different options for your birth, then how can you be expected to make the most informed decisions in your birth! Today, we'll be diving into the key differences between a hospital-led childbirth education class and an independent-led childbirth education class. In this episode of Yoga | Birth | Babies, I am joined by Ceridwen Morris. Ceridwen is an author, childbirth educator and doula who has supported thousands of expectant parents in New York City for over twenty years. She is the author of the forthcoming How to Give Birth (Farrar, Strauss and Giroux, 2025). Morris served on the board of The Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York for five years, and ran the education program at Tribeca Pediatrics for ten years. She has taught at Real Birth, City Births, NYC Birth Prep and Prenatal Yoga Center. As you give this episode a listen, I hope it inspires you to bring questions to your care provider that explore how the birthing experience can be tailored to your preferences, versus you having to conform to hospital policies and protocols. She shared: - The absolutely incredible sounding retreat she hosted for readers last year in Gotland, where she now lives and where many of her novels are set - The ninth century style feast–wherever everyone was in period costume–that was the cherry on top of that retreat - Why she looks to Taylor Swift as a creative role model - The big shift she can sense is coming, although she can't say more, but she did mentioned “a possibility of a television series” – and what she's doing to stay grounded as it continues to unfold - The Henry James novel she re-reads each summer - How three cups of coffee is the perfect number of cups of coffee - The lunch she has had nearly every day for nearly 40 years Visit Octavia at octavia.net, or on the Circle of Ceridwen Saga private Facebook group. This week I'm talking with Octavia Randoplh, a prolific and wildly successful author of historical novels and essays. She's best known for her Circle of Ceridwen saga, a meticulously researched series of 11–soon to be 12–books set in 9th century England and scandinavia. Octavia now makes her home on Gotland, a small island off the coast of Sweden in the Baltic Sea where some of her novels are set and which was an important way station for the Vikings as the traveled East and West from Scandinavia. She is also a devoted needleworker and mosaic artist, and an unabashed cat person. We covered: - Why ‘Viking' isn't really the right word to describe the people from Scandinavia who explored far and wide a millennia and a half ago - How a fascination with physical artifacts from England's early history put her on the path to be a historical fiction author - How she found her way to massive publishing success despite having great agents and getting only rejections from traditional publishing houses - The difference between self-publishing and independent publishing–and a peek inside the cast of folks who make it possible for Octavia to edit and publish her books - How a daily morning walk forms the basis of how she gets her writing done–that, and talking to herself as she writes Visit Octavia at octavia.net, or on the Circle of Ceridwen Saga private Facebook group.

The ancient druids, so folklore tells us, believed the goddess Ceridwen was personified in the moon, and fought a never-ending battle with a Satan-like force for evil with great black wings that inhabited the sun. In fact, the night sky in full of connections to great figures from Welsh mythology, from the tales of the Mabinogion to the legends of King Arthur, with each celestial body mysteriously named after a figure of renown. There's even a link with Dylan Thomas. To discover the secrets of the cosmos, join Mark Rees (Ghosts of Wales) and turn your eyes - or rather, ears - to the sky as he investigates the weird and wonderful heavens above on the Ghosts and Folklore of Wales podcast... if you dare!     What is the Ghosts and Folklore of Wales with Mark Rees podcast? The "Ghosts and Folklore of Wales" podcast explores Welsh ghost stories, lore, myths and legends. Launched by author and journalist Mark Rees in early 2020, this weird and wonderful podcast takes a fascinating look at the country's countless curious subjects by combining decades of research and insights from many books and articles with long-lost tales from dusty old tomes. Ranging from "real life" encounters with the uncanny to fantastical adventures from the Mabinogion, new episodes are uploaded on Thursdays (weekly most of the time, biweekly when book and media deadlines are looming) and feature everything from pesky poltergeists to fire-breathing dragons. Along with the regular stories you can also expect the odd special guest, an occasional "live" ghost hunt, and all sorts of crazy ideas. Seasonal specials include the dark and Gothic Halloween (Nos Calan Gaeaf) traditions of old, to everyone's favourite skulled-skulled Christmas visitor, the Mari Lwyd herself. Dare you explore haunted Wales? Think of it as opening the Welsh The X-Files, along with some tenuous Ghostbusters links! Phoenix Rising: Journeys of Descending into the Mysteries & Rising from the Roots.

Avalon calls when it is time for deep transformation & Annah Taylor Phinny's journey with Avalon has been one of deep initiations & anchoring into the medicine of truth. In this episode Annah shares her journey with breast cancer, losing her hair & breast. Being 'exiled' from boarding school after the teachers found out she is a witch. The initiations that have met her on her path. The medicine of Ceridwen. Lady of Avalon & Lady of the Lake. Reclamation of the self & the witch that is within. Weaving yourself back together. The archetype of the witch. Where the Goddess resides within your body. The shadow gateway of the heart. The priestess path. Magic for the good of all. Witchcraft as a practice of healing. The elements. Ladys mirror. The call of Avalon. Annah Taylor Phinny is a spiritual healer and a formally trained Priestess of Avalon, an ancient Goddess tradition based in Glastonbury, England. From an early age, Annah was aware of her sensitive, intuitive nature, but lacked the resources and support to help her understand her gifts. At boarding school, she innocently began to offer nightly “readings” for her classmates—something they relished. Unfortunately, the school did not. Annah's life shifted dramatically and painfully as she was accused of being a “witch,” expelled, and put on medication, causing her to shut down and fear her natural intuitive state. Years of chemically-induced suppression set the stage for a struggle with more complex addictions later. After rehab in her early twenties, Annah began to reacquaint herself with the young girl who “knew things.” Introduced to the legitimacy of her calling by alternative healers and mediums, she began to find her way back to the abandoned teenager who had gone into hiding after the trauma of boarding school. She went on to complete a Master's Degree program in Spiritual Psychology with an emphasis in Consciousness, Health, and Healing from the University of Santa Monica, as well as her three-year training from the Glastonbury Goddess Temple as a Priestess of Avalon. In the middle of her priestess training, at age thirty-six, Annah was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and began the most transformative journey of her life. Lady of the Lake, Rise: Breast Cancer as a Path to Wholeness through the Eyes of a Priestess of Avalon is the story of her non-linear, multidimensional healing journey. Annah lives in service to Goddess and the remembrance of the divine feminine in all beings. She connects others with their wild and ancient selves through ceremony, retreats, and pilgrimage. She resides in the English countryside with her Beloved Michael and is honored to be second mummy to Mia, who knows that faeries are real. https://www.avaloncalling.co/ladys-mirror https://www.avaloncalling.co. @avalon.calling

Ceridwen Dovey and Emily Maguire shed light on their riveting new novels, both electrifying tales of trust and consequences, with Bridie Jabour. A murder mystery and study of modern manners, Ceridwen's Life After Truth tells of former Harvard classmates whose weekend reunion is rocked by the death of a fellow alumnus. Emily is a Miles Franklin Award shortlisted writer whose latest novel, Love Objects, is the insightful, compassionately drawn story of a young woman whose aunt is imperilled by compulsive hoarding. Together, the two discuss the writing process, midlife opportunities (rather than midlife crises), and the power of fiction to generate empathy. “More and more I feel that in fiction we are all rehearsing for real life...it continues to astound me that as humans we have no real way of knowing what is going on in anybody else's mind and yet we still manage to come together and try so hard to communicate between one another, there's something heartbreaking about that. And for me that's what fiction is...it's the most profound tool we have at our fingertips to get into each other's experiences.” – Ceridwen Dovey See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Communing in her dreams with animal spirit guides and contacting gods and goddesses is part of Kat's shamanic dreamwork practice. She begins by describing her childhood nightmares about snakes and how Snake eventually became a powerful spirit guide for her. Kat tells about how her "dark night of the soul" opened her up to reexamine her contract with God. She describes how surrendering can lead to new growth by sharing the Welsh myth of Ceridwen. Kat also reads a story that she created about snakes called, "We Once Were Dragons." We end with a question from Rick about how to identify gods and goddesses in our dreams. Kat suggests it has to do with the "twinkle in the eye" and that the god might show up even as a homeless person. The guest is Ceridwen Dovey. The book is Life After Truth. Ceridwen is an author, essayist and academic. She attended Harvard University on a scholarship where she met Jared Kushner and Natalie Portman. Her brilliant latest novel, Life After Truth, is inspired by her experience of attending the 15 year reunion of her class at Harvard. We talk about tech, machine learning, politics, how people change, an ill fated meeting with George Lucas and about raising children among many other things. This was one of my favourite interviews and Ceridwen is an author everyone should read.

Ceridwen Dovey is a writer of fiction, creative non-fiction essays and profiles. Her books include Blood Kin, Only the Animals and In the Garden of Fugitives.I’ve got Ceridwen’s new novel, Life After Truth, for you and it is fantastically entertaining as well as thought provoking and genre defying. On the eve of their fifteenth reunion five friends return to Harvard University. The school has been formative for the group. As the scene of their fondest memories it has bound them together. Now spread around the world, the excuse of the reunion propels them back towards younger conceptions for themselves.Unfortunately reunions are never limited to friends and the group must confront old flames, bullies and the ubiquitous jerk, who is now the son of the American President.Fred Reese is one of the most despised men in the country, second only to his father, but when he winds up dead - did anyone hate him enough to kill him?Life After Truth leads with the discovery of the dead Fred Reese and seemingly sets up the reader for a detective style mystery as we seek to uncover the truth. Dovey flips these conventions though and propels us back to the beginning of the reunion and into the psyches of the friends;Mariam and Rowan were married after graduation. They’ve bucked the trend and stayed in love.Jomo is charismatic and beautiful, and as a celebrity gemologist gets to see the world.Eloise never left Harvard. As a celebrated professor of hedonics she seems to have an inside scoop on the happy life.Jules was a star when the group met her and she still lives the life of one of the world’s most famous actresses.Back in their old dorms the group are ready to celebrate each other but amidst the triumphs no one can help but look on with some envy at the choices they never made.Life After Truth is an incredibly sophisticated exploration of life and living. Through flashbacks we come to see how the group have grown from their student days, subtly altering themselves at life's various challenges. Thrown into the reunion, however, we see how amongst old acquaintances we remain the sum of our ill-advised youthful moments. The story opens up the mysteries of time and the seeming impossible leap from adolescence into adulthood. Dovey exposes each and every one of us for our grappling insecurity and desire for support. In a world of fake news she challenges us with the possibility that the greatest falsehood are the lies we tell about ourselves.Oh, and the dead son of the president? You’ll have to read on to find out...

The Brown family's (and Milawa's) contribution to Australian cheese cannot be underestimated. It all started thanks to some encouragement from their good friend (and other cheese legend) Richard Thomas, David and Anne Brown got in there and gave it a crack at the Milawa Butter Factory in 1988. The rest, they say is history, but it's also the present. Many in the Australian cheese community still credit much of their early inspiration to the Brown family, especially that of Anne, including co-founder of MOULD, Nick Haddow from Bruny Island Cheese. Very sadly, Anne passed away last year and although some times has passed since, her loss is still felt. Her daughter Ceridwen, who I catch up with today, now runs this family business and she truly is a wonderful human being. Family. That is the word that first comes to mind when I think of MlIawa. It's at the core of who they are, where they've been and what their future holds. You really get a sense of it when you speak to Ceridwen and I'm so grateful to her for opening up and sharing some wonderfully personal stories here. She really is an incredible human and truly embodies the family spirit of hospitality, sharing and passionately talking about what Milawa does. And for those of you who have joined us at our festivals, you would have witnessed this first hand. And no doubt contributed to so many votes in the people's choice. She's always out the front of her stand, with a massive Milawa Blue in arm, handing out samples. I'm very grateful to her for being so open in our conversation here. Good afternoon everyone and welcome to another edition of The Avid Reader. Ceridwen’s previous work includes her debut novel Blood Kin which has been published in fifteen countries and was selected for the National Book Foundation’s 5 under 35 honors list. She next gave us Only The Animals, a collection of short stories. She will publish Writers on Writers: her view of J.M. Coetzee (COAT_SEE) . She lives in Sydney. In The Garden of The Fugitives is an epistolary work, or at least it appears to be in many ways. It tells a story through letters about two antagonists who have been silent running for 20 years until the one who was shut out begins a tentative overture. His name is Royce. Hers is Vita. Royce is, seemingly, reaching out to discover and share their joint and dark pasts. Vita’s is both a spatial and a psychological journey, while Royce’s is center for the most part in Pompeii at an archeological dig, where he has followed his longtime unrequited love and what follows is both surprising, extremely unsettling and horribly wrong. The book in short, describes what happens when we face the consequences of telling stories about ourselves. Much like in Julian Barnes A Sense of an Ending Enough of my rambling, as I say pretty much every week and welcome Ker eh Dwin to the show.

Silver Hammer, Golden Cross (Pyewacket Press, 2017) is sixth in the series of the Circle of Ceridwen series. It begins by exploring the friendship of two young heirs, Ceric, of Saxon descent and Hrald, of Danish descent. Although the history of their families is complicated, involving revenge killings mandated by honor, the two young men feel close to each other, mainly because of the warm friendship their mothers maintained through various tribulations. This friendship endures, despite the fact that Ceric’s mother now lives with Hrald’s father, on the island of Gotland. Hrald’s father has effectively abandoned his Danish family, after beginning a new family in exile and taking an oath to kill no further men. Ceric wished to marry Hrald’s sister Ashild, both because he cares for her, and because it will allow him and Hrald to strengthen the bond between the two noble houses. The headstrong Ashild, who emerges as the central character of Silver Hammer, Golden Cross, is conflicted. She likes Ceric well enough, but feels rooted to her family’s land. Marrying into Ceric’s house, which is far-away, would mean rare visits to the place she calls home. While she considers Ceric proposal, another suitor enters to complicate the picture, against the background of a coming war. How Ashild handles this challenge is central to the story, and always believable. Ashild embodies the multicultural lineage of England: though her Danish family has converted to Christianity, she wears her fathers silver hammer, a symbol of the pagan God Thor. At the same time, she treasures the Christian abbey where her grandmother lives as a place of safety for women. Ashild wears the golden cross as well. Octavia Randolph never strikes a false note historically, and describes objects with the eye of a craftswoman. Her characters are given room to develop as the story unfolds. She refuses to pander to the Game of Thrones crowd. Most of the characters, including Hrald’s absent father, Sidroc, try to act with honor and integrity. It’s a world shadowed by betrayal and war, and the lust for spoils, but not a world without love, companionship, and loyalty. In the end, Ceric, Ashild, and Hrald, like their parents before them, have become the friends many readers would wish for, judging by the popularity of the series. The 14 Track album is a sincere blend of Medieval Celtic Rock, unique to the Dolmen spirit. The band purposely composed 'Banquet' as a forerunner to "Nuada" a second album release due for this year (2014) in May. It was decided after they had finished their 2013 Euro Tour, that there were to many songs for Nuada, and more in production, so decided that Nuada should be split and Banquet should introduce an exciting yet bizarre theme of which the band are presently enchanted, hence laying a musical foundation for 2014 the "Nuada, God of the Sun Tour" and the adventure of musical discovery. You can buy Banquet on The Dolmen website. News: The Four-Cornered Castle (Songbook) by Damh the Bard The Four-Cornered Castle (Songbook) "This chord book contains the chords from my last three studio albums, The Cauldron Born, Tales from the Crow Man and Antlered Crown and Standing Stone". As with Songbook 1 there is no musical notation in the book - Damh doesn't read music himself - but the chord shapes and locations within the lyrics will show you more about his writing process, and how to play the songs as he does. He says: "As with my last songbook, I hope you enjoy singing these songs around your camp fires, in your covens and groves, or simply on your own or with friends." Get strumming! Order now on Damh's website. News: Edge of Dreams 2 by Phil Thornton Edge of Dreams 2 Phil Thornton's first album for New World back in 1986, Edge of Dreams, developed from a 5 minute demo at the 'Enid' studio which at that time was based a few miles from Halesworth in Suffolk. The Enid's lead guitarist Stephen Stewart had by that time developed into a brilliant producer, so when New World gave me a budget to record an album for them it was a dream come true. Phil has let us know that he is currently working on a follow-up to this album. Keep your eyes on his website or Facebook page for further news! Good luck Phil! 500 Tub Thumps by Pandora Celtica Faerie Revel Pandora Celtica is a Dark Celtic Faerie a cappella band local to Denver. Their combination of powerful harmonies and tragic subject matter have been thrilling audiences for the last nine years. Whether they're singing ancient tunes or original songs, their style has been described as dark and tribal - something that gets right into your heart and spirit. They are unique and distinctive. They are passionate. They are Pandora Celtica. This complex and beautiful medley, 500 Tub Thumps, comes from their fifth album, Faerie Revel. You can find out more about Pandora Celtica on their website on our Contributor Page on this website. Interview with Philip Shallcrass, aka Greywolf Head of the British Druid Order PArt 1 of our Interview Greywolf, the Chief 'Wolfsbody' of the British Druid Order (the BDO) created the Order from his realisation he was a Druid in 1974 and his simultaneous realisation that Druids were the shamanic folk of ancient Britain and Europe. He has been chief of the BDO since 1979, sharing the role with Bobcat (aka Emma Restall Orr) between 1995 and 2002. He is a writer, musician, singer-songwriter, artist, roundhouse builder and thatcher. He currently lives in Wiltshire with two of his three sons, not far from his beloved Avebury. The Green Man by Jonathan Kershaw Bizarre Tales Jonathan is a guitarist/songwriter originally from Yorkshire in northern England but now based on the south coast. Although known in various areas for his rock playing, he has quietly been applying his talents to an altogether different sound. In his early 20s, Jonathan relocated for a number of years to Somerset in the Southwest of the UK. This was quite a rural area and provided his first insight into folk and Celtic style music. Listen out for the incredible and powerful sounds of The Green Man, from Jonathan's brilliant album, Bizarre Tales in this show! You can find out more about Jonathan's incredible music on his Contributor Page or find out more on his website. Philip Shallcrass Part 2 of our Interview First ceremony with the World Drum, on Dragon Hill in 2008 by John Whittlestone In this part of the Interview Philip talks about the World Drum and many other things. The World Drum in front of Philip's Altar, pic by Philip   The Prayer for Mother Earth We are all human beings, all people, you, me, our neighbours. No matter where you live in this world, if it is in Africa or South-America, if it is in Asia, Europe or U.S.A, we are all sisters and brothers in humanity. All people of the world. Whether rich or poor, whatever colour, religion or political thinking, we are all residents of this one planet, Mother Earth. The time has come to answer the questions. Do we really want to destroy our home? Do we really want war, hunger or disasters? Do we really want to give our next generations a planet in such a condition that there will not be any hope for survival? Mother Earth is crying. She is shivering in fear of losing all her entrails, as we dig and drill to get hold of what we think is our right towards a better wealth. Mother Earth is crying. Soon she will not have any tears left, and then it will be too late. The time has come to unite and stand together. Please, I ask you, take each other’s hands, lift them high and make a prayer while The World Drum sings her song and we feel her heartbeat. It is the heartbeat of Mother Earth. It is our heartbeat, from each and one all over the world. It is the heartbeat of life itself. Let us join together as one that this heartbeat may continue. Morten Wolf Storeide, Norway 2006   Philip mentions the Screaming Blue Messiahs - they disbanded in 1990, but you can fnd them on YouTube or more details on their wiki page. You can find detaills about Philip's books and music on the BDO Website. You can find out more details about Greywolf on his Contributor Page on this website. The Lament of Miach by The Bards of FoDLA Sacred Oaks The Lament of Miach is a wonderful harp piece by Eva Gordon of the Bards of FoDLA, inspired by the story of the Diancehct and his son Miach. Check out the tragic story in Episode 3, The Rule of Bres the Beautiful. This beautiful piece coems from their astounding album, Sacred Oaks. The Bards of FoDLA are American balladeers inspired by the ancient Druids, the Bards of FoDLA celebrate the spirit of the sacred oaks with Celtic harps, guitar & voices. Traditional and original folk music join in a deeply mystical and joyful fusion of past and present. Check out the FoDLA Druid Order. You can find out more about the beautiful music of the Bards of FoDLA on their Contributor Page or find out more on their website. Philip Shallcrass Part 3 of our Interview Greywolf with Ogham Cards In this part of the Interview Philip talks about the Ogham Tree Oracle Cards that the BDO have designed. You can find more details out about the cards and where to buy them on the BDO Website. Willow by PerKelt Dowry of a Troll Woman The band PerKelt was founded in 2008 in the Czech Republic, consisting of friends from the local Conservatory. After they found the shapes of their musical expressions, they started gigging, built connections in the industry, a fanbase, recorded two albums (PerKelt 2008 and Musica Mardania 2011) ... and then found another challenge, to move to UK and do the same once again. The beautiful and yet rousing track, Willow, comes from their album Dowry of a Troll Woman. You can find out more details about PerKelt on their website or on our Contributor Page on this website. Philip Shallcrass Part 4 of our Interview The BDO Roundhouse with visiting Norwegian shamans, picture by Morten Wolf Storeide The British Druid Order, rekindling the sacred fires of Druidry as a living, breathing, Earth-honouring, life-affirming spirituality for the 21st century, drawing inspiration from the threefold stream of Awen’s flow from its source, the Cauldron of the goddess Ceridwen. They offer Distance Learning Courses as well as many Retreats and Workshops at the Spiritual Centre of Wildways on the Borle. You can find his books and music on the BDO Website. You can find out more details about Greywolf on his Contributor Page on this website. Philip, Joe & Us, pic by Mike My Sons for Evermore by Philip Shallcrass Lord of the Wildwood My Sons for Evermore is a soulful tribute to the love a father carries for his sons, and the feelings that Philip experiences as he contemplates their venturing forth into manhood. "Sitting at home one misty morning, gazing from my window at a grey, cloudy day, it struck me that soon my sons would be making their own ways in the world and I'd be rattling around at home alone much of the time. "The words and tune of this song came into my head all in a rush and this draft version was recorded soon after via a Skype headset plugged into my computer. I'll re-record it 'properly' for my next CD (which will probably be called 'Lord of the Wildwood'), but I kinda like this rough and ready first take. It has a quality that the Welsh call hiraeth, a sort of melancholy yearning after times and things past." Philip Shallcrass Part 2 of our Interview Greywolf inside Roundhouse In this part of the Interview Philip talks about the Celtic connections of Druidry, shamanism and sweat lodges and reveals how he got the name of 'Greywolf' Philip, Joe & Us - pic by Mike Shallcrass Song at Wodnesbeorg Philip Shallcrass The Sign of the Rose The Sign of the Rose is an album of songs, spells and invocations from BDO chief, Greywolf, aka Philip Shallcrass. "Beginning with an invocation to the old Saxon gods of Britain, it moves into ‘Song at Wodnesbeorg,’ a song inspired by Greywolf’s meeting with Woden on an ancient burial mound in North Wiltshire. Next is an invocation of Awen, the sacred, flowing spirit of inspiration in our tradition. This is followed by a hymn to the divine feminine, ‘Lady of the Greenwood.’ Track 5, ‘Lover’ and the title track, ‘The Sign of the Rose,’ are lyrical love songs. ‘Autumn Spell’ is a prayer for healing, followed by ‘Hel’s Embrace,’ reflecting on the dark side of relationships, while the next track, ‘A Perfect Mirror,’ deals with love’s ability to find itself reflected in another’s soul." "‘Slide’ is an out-and-out rocker with some bitchin’ slide guitar work. ‘Sacrifice’ muses on what we may or may not be willing to give, or give up, for love. ‘Thanks’ is an expression of gratitude for the sheer strangeness of being alive. The final track, the 12-minute epic, ‘The Sweet Sorrow,’ is a tragic tale of love and loss, based on a traditional Scots ballad of the same name, here given a makeover with layered harp, bass, percussion and strings."
