Learning Technologies Group PLC (AIM:LTG, OTC:LTTHF) chief executive Jonathan Satchell talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's transition to private ownership following its acquisition by private equity group General Atlantic. Satchell reflected on LTG's journey from its 2013 listing to its rapid growth, driven by acquisitions and strong investor backing. However, he noted that the last three years brought challenges, including market shifts and a declining share price, which ultimately led to the company's decision to go private. He emphasised the role of independent board members in determining the deal's fairness for shareholders, with a substantial premium over the prior stock price. Discussing the future, Satchell highlighted General Atlantic's expertise in technology and North America, which aligns well with LTG's predominantly U.S.-based operations. He acknowledged the potential impact of US policy changes, particularly in diversity and inclusion programs, but remained optimistic about LTG's growth prospects. Reflecting on London's public markets, Satchell expressed mixed emotions, stating, “The public markets have been exceptionally supportive for LTG in the first eight years of its journey, but the environment changed completely.” He urged the London market to regain its confidence and appeal for growth companies. Learning Technologies Group PLC chief executive Jonathan Satchell takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's trading update for the first half of the year. Despite facing revenue pressures and currency headwinds, Satchell highlighted the robust performance of the learning infrastructure business. Satchell discussed the impact of currency fluctuations, particularly the pound-dollar exchange rate, on the company's financials. Despite these challenges, LTG achieved an increase in adjusted EBIT due to improved margins following their acquisition of GP Strategies. Satchell emphasised the ongoing, though slower, margin improvements and expressed optimism about the company's future performance. He also provided guidance for full-year revenue and EBIT, excluding the recently completed sale of VectorVMS. Satchell stressed that the sale was a strategic move to strengthen the company's balance sheet, reducing net debt significantly. Additionally, Satchell addressed concerns raised by US regulators, assuring investors that the company is working diligently to resolve the issues. He expressed confidence in their remediation efforts and ongoing cooperation with the regulator. Satchell concluded by highlighting LTG's strong cash generation and a significant reduction in net debt, attributing this success to strategic disposals and consistent cash conversion from EBITDA. Learning Technologies Group PLC chief executive Jonathan Satchell takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's 2023 financial results, which reveal a slight revenue decline but rising profitability. Despite the economic challenges, the company maintained strong cash flow and increased its dividend by 5% to 1.2 pence. Satchell highlighted the resilience of the company's long-term and SaaS contracts, which helped sustain performance amidst reduced corporate spending on employee development. Operational achievements included retaining all client contracts above $10 million. The company saw some revenue declines due to reduced discretionary spending but reported growth in US government contracts and expansions in Latin America and the Middle East. Another highlight was GP Strategies, which has more than doubled profits since it was acquired in 2021, benefiting from a commercial transformation program that improved margins without impacting customer service. Satchell also noted the sale of Lorien Engineering, aligning with the company's focus on learning and talent development. This strategy, alongside prudent financial management, positioned the company well in the tough economic climate. For 2024, the company anticipates revenues similar to 2023, with continued emphasis on acquisitions and leveraging AI in learning tools to enhance operational efficiency and data insights. #LearningTechnologiesGroup #FinancialResults2023 #CorporateLearning #SaaS #DividendIncrease #GPStrategies #OperationalExcellence #AIinLearning #JonathanSatchell #EconomicResilience #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Learning Technologies Group (LTG) chief executive Jonathan Satchell discusses the company's resilient performance in the challenging macroeconomic conditions of 2023 in an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion. In a trading update, the company said it expects to deliver group revenues for continuing operations of not less than £560 million, in line with consensus expectations. Adjusted EBIT for continuing operations are expected to be not less than £98 million. Satchell emphasized LTG's strong cash generation in the latter half of 2023, with a net debt significantly better than expected, aided partly by favourable FX rates. This robust financial performance has been attributed to improved margins, especially in the GP Strategies sector after overcoming initial integration challenges. Looking forward, Satchell expressed optimism about LTG's financial health and leverage position, enhanced by the recent sale of non-core business Lorien Engineering Solutions. This positions the company to consider various strategic options, including further debt repayment, share buybacks, or acquisitions. He noted that market valuations are becoming more attractive for potential acquisitions. #LearningTechnologiesGroup #LTG #JonathanSatchell #ProactiveLondon #BusinessUpdate2023 #TradingUpdate #CorporateResilience #EconomicConditions #FinancialPerformance #BusinessInterview #CEOInsights #TechIndustry #LearningSolutions #CorporateStrategy #FinancialResults #BusinessGrowth #MarketAnalysis #BusinessLeadership #TechnologyTrends #CorporateFinance #BusinessOptimism #FutureOfTech #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

In this episode we discuss a incident that happened between me and my history teacher.
In this episode of the Adventures in Learning podcast, we meet joyful world traveler Georgina "Gigi" Satchell. I met Gigi on deck as we both drank in our first views of the Antarctic Peninsula. Join us as we share our love and passion for Antarctica (it took Gigi two attempts at crossing the Drake Passage to make it to the Continent), discuss lessons we've brought home to our daily lives, and discuss Gigi's passion for baking, travel, and making a difference in the world.Following left and right pelvic reconstruction surgeries to treat hip dysplasia, Gigi Satchell decided to pursue her dream of visiting Antarctica. Her YouTube channel, Satchellstravels, aims to inspire others to travel while disabled."Yes, the reason probably why I have this outlook is just because I was really quite severely disabled for quite a long time and so stuck in the house a lot. Being in that situation just made me a lot more appreciative of little things. So being on the other ship and it's turning around and being horrible, I was still like, okay, but this could be a lot worse. I'm still in Ushuaia, and I'm going to make the most of that situation. And it's like Ushuaia is a beautiful city, so I just did lots of extra tours and went and flew over the city, and so, yes, I think that's probably where my enthusiasm comes from. Just from when you haven't been able to walk for a really long time, it makes you very appreciative of it. And even though there are still things I can't do with my disability, I'm just very appreciative of the little things I can do. So at the moment I can walk. So I'm very happy about that. So I do as much as I can when I can and take my medicine when I have to, and yeah, I got to go to Antarctica, which is just amazing. Yeah, how could I not be happy about that? I don't know how I could exactly." -- Gigi Satchell Aside from travelling, Gigi volunteers with children and young people at IntoUniversity, an organisation which inspires young people to achieve and breaks down barriers to social mobility. Gigi is a firm believer in lifelong learning and just completed a second Masters degree at UCL (University College London) in European Studies.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast laun Start for FREEDisclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Satchell Paige spent over forty years playing baseball at various levels, but his mark in history is a simple one… he was the first African-American to pitch in the American League, and the seventh player to integrate into the majors. He did that when he was 42, and he remains the oldest debutant in either league. He was also the first African-American to pitch in a World Series, and it's that game we join today. It's Game 5 of the World Series, and Paige's Cleveland Indians are up against the Boston Braves. Bob Feller is the starting pitcher, defending a 3-1 series lead for the Indians. Mel Allen and Jim Britt are behind the microphone for the Braves radio broadcast. You can find the boxscore here. Summer brings warm beach weather, and with it come gruesome news reports of “flesh eating disease” that people catch from the ocean. Vibrio vulnificus is a marine bacterium that prefers warmer seawater, and it can infect wounds and cause necrotizing fasciitis, also known as “flesh eating disease”, that can rapidly turn into a fatal infection. Dr. Karla Satchell is a professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University who studies the toxins made by V. vulnificus and other Vibrios that allow them to cause disease. Satchell talks about how people get infected with V. vulnificus, who is most at risk for catching flesh eating disease, how global warming is increasing V. vulnificus infections, how MARTX and other toxins help V. vulnificus cause disease, why oysters are a source of V. vulnificus, and how a scientist from Oklahoma sparked her interest in research. microTalk was joined in this discussion by Karla’s son Grant Satchell. The microCase for listeners to solve is about Wolf Burns, a celebrity survival expert who comes down with a potentially fatal disease while trying to make his way out of the Ozark Mountain wilderness. Participants: Karl Klose, Ph.D. (UTSA) Karla Satchell, Ph.D. (Northwestern University) Grant Satchell Janakiram Seshu, Ph.D. (UTSA) Mylea Echazarreta (UTSA)
The City Chairman joins us to talk about this season, ground sharing next season and Sawston.
World’s only museum dedicated to preserving the history of African American Baseball. Some of greatest players ever. Walk away from museum with greater appreciation of how great this company. Negro Leagues operated 20 years from 1920-1960, Jackie Robinson included. Museum tells this story. And it’s not a sad story. Celebration of the power of the human spirit. American spirit allowed the to persevere. Negro Leagues were third largest black owned business in the country. Insurance first, Madam CJ Walker second doing hair. Had schools of cosmetology in every city. Negro Leagues third. Buck O’Neill said all they needed was a bus, two sets of uniforms and 20 of the greatest athletes anywhere. Rube Foster a genius, Greatest baseball mind sport ever seen that no one knows about. Had vision. Formed Negro Leagues, interests in numerous teams. Rube very wealthy but savvy enough in 1920s to take star players from some of his teams and dispersed them around league to create competitive balance. Buck a quiet leader, when he talked he had something to say. Knew how to get the most out of guys. Buck looked like shoe-in for 2006 MLB hall of fame, and it didn’t happen. Devastating. When he found out he was more excited for 17 of his colleagues did get in. Gave greatest concession speech ever wrapping his arms around a room full of angry, bitter people and said it’s ok. One of most selfless acts. Buck passed two months later at the age of 94. Josh Gibson was a combo of Babe Ruth and Ted Williams according to Buck Museum represents everything about our country. America at its best and worst. Not a story about adversity. It’s about overcoming adversity. Sorry that transcends race, age and gender. To become a member or for more info, visit www.nlbm.com. Designer and web video producer Satchell Drakes is someone I've wanted to have on the show for quite a while. Satchell is probably best known for his YouTube channel Satchbag's Goods -- a collection of gorgeously produced and insightful videos on gaming, movies, music, and culture. We started off talking about the independent Internet space and how he got started with design and video and he walked me through his workflow and what a typical day is like for him as a designer. Satchell also shared the biggest compromise he's made that has attributed to his success. And of course, we talked about video games too! I think you'll really get a lot out of this interview, so press play and enjoy! Satchbag's Goods Satchell Drakes on Twitter Satchell Drakes on Instagram

Marshall Jones from the Legendary Ohio Players will be joining us today. The band formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1959[2] as the Ohio Untouchables, and initially included members Robert Ward (vocals/guitar), Marshall "Rock" Jones (bass), Clarence "Satch" Satchell (saxophone/guitar), Cornelius Johnson (drums), and Ralph "Pee Wee" Middlebrooks (trumpet/trombone). They were best known at the time as a backing group for Detroit's The Falcons.[2] On August 17, 2013 The Ohio Players were inducted into the 1st class of the Official R&B Music Hall of Fame. That took place in Cleveland, Ohio at Cleveland State U. The Ohio Untouchables broke up in 1963 with Ward leaving for a solo career, but the core members of the group returned to Dayton and the following year added Gregory Webster (drums) along with Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner (guitar), who would become the group's front man.[2] The group added two more singers, Bobby Lee Fears and Dutch Robinson, and became the house band for the New York based Compass Records for Vocalist Helena Ferguson Kilpatrick in 1967 who had just returned from Gershwin's European Tour of Porgy and Bess. The group disbanded again in 1970. After again reforming with a line-up including Bonner, Satchell, Middlebrooks, Jones, Webster, trumpeter Bruce Napier, vocalist Charles Dale Allen, trombonist Marvin Pierce and keyboardist Walter "Junie" Morrison, the Players had a minor hit on the Detroit-based Westbound label in 1971 with "Pain," which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard R&B Chart. James Johnson joined the group at this time as vocalist and saxophonist. Dale Allen shared co-lead vocals on some of the early Westbound material, although he was not credited on their albums Pain and Pleasure..
