Bonnaroo 2026 is officially in the books, and it was a massive, triumphant comeback story. Despite Sunday's severe weather threat and a multi-hour evacuation of Centeroo, the festival's brand-new drainage system completely saved the weekend, proving that you simply cannot rain out the spirit of 'The Farm'. In this robust, audio-only deep dive, host Jamie breaks down the highs and lows of the weekend, including why Aly & AJ are officially the festival's "harbingers of doom" for the second year in a row. Plus, he shares his favorite standout sets of the weekend, including Wet Leg, Holly Humberstone, and the wildly chaotic, high-concept Kesha Superjam. Then, we hit the backstage media area for two exclusive, human-curated conversations. First, we sit down with fast-rising rock outfit The Runarounds to talk about their high-energy Saturday set. Right after, indie-noir artist Vlad Holiday joins the podcast to dissect his moody, cinematic Friday performance on The Farm. Welcome multi‑platinum Nashville session drummer, Aksel Coe! Since moving to Nashville in 2018, Aksel has quickly made a name for himself as one of the city's most sought-after session drummers, having recorded on many of today's top country, pop, and indie tracks. Recent recording credits include Ella Langley (ACM Song of the Year 'Choosin' Texas'), Role Model, Holly Humberstone, Zach Bryan, Sierra Ferrell, Willow Avalon, K. Flay, Margo Price, Orville Peck, Sasha Alex Sloan, Cody Jinks, Sam Barber, Wyatt Flores, and Joshua Bassett, among many others. We dive right into Aksel's diverse musical upbringing and his journey from the West Coast to Nashville. Aksel shares invaluable advice and perspective on the home recording process — from creating efficient workflows on and off the drums, when and when not to cheap out on gear, and how to create and effectively market your own sample or loop pack. We discuss avoiding burnout, Nashville's shifting studio landscape, and of course, his acting debut in the 2025 biopic 'Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.' English singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone has released her second studio album, ‘Cruel World'. It's a shift for the artist, delving into a more upbeat pop sound, whilst dealing with themes of belonging, steadiness, repair, and discipline. The atmospheric style and intimacy of Humberstone's musical style has seen her compared to artists like Lorde and Bon Iver, and she herself has described her style as “quite self-exposing". Chris Schulz joined Jack Tame to give his thoughts on the new album. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

John is joined by Holly Humberstone and Rob Milton to talk about how they wrote, recorded and produced the album Cruel World. Holly Humberstone is a singer-songwriter from Grantham, England. After early support from BBC Introducing, her debut EP ‘Falling Asleep at the Wheel' gained widespread attention during the pandemic, earning a BRIT Rising Star win and two Ivor Novello nominations. Her debut album 'Paint My Bedroom Black', arrived in 2023, and reached the UK top 5, while tours with Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo boosted her global profile. Her second album, Cruel World, was released in April 2026, working with long-time collaborator, producer Rob Milton. Sitting down at Baltic Studios, the trio discuss the record's influences, from The 1975 to Fleetwood Mac. They break down ‘To Love Somebody' from early voice notes to final master, explore harmony techniques on ‘Cruel World', and Holly reflects on how industry pressures shaped ‘Beauty Pageant', alongside sharing their essential plug-ins and gear. Welcome back to You Had to Be There! While I'm frolicking in Coachella Valley this coming weekend, I'm happy to kick off this week's episode featuring Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Caroline Romano. Caroline started writing emotionally driven songs at just 13 years old, even performing at a college bar open mic with her parents' support. Since then, she's grown into a versatile artist who moves seamlessly between misty-eyed ballads and fiery alt-rock anthems. If you're drawn to the cinematic storytelling of artists like Gracie Abrams or Holly Humberstone, her new EP, It Took Me Falling, captures that same feeling: the vulnerability, the intensity, and those fleeting butterfly moments of meeting someone new.Make sure to check out Caroline's EP, which is out now everywhere, along with the playlist she curated to go with our conversation. Another Monday, another Down With Boring. This episode, we're diving into Danny Brown's latest full-length, ‘Stardust' — a wildly inventive, joy-soaked reinvention from an artist who's swapped chaos for clarity without losing the weird. Clean(ish), gym-going and living in Austin with a new crew of hyperpop misfits, Danny's found his people and made a record that sounds like 2025: part grime flashback, part future-pop meltdown, all personality. There's new music too, obviously — Hayley Williams adds another track to her ever-expanding solo album with ‘Showbiz', while ROSALÍA's ‘La Perla' lands as part of an album that's set to scramble those end-of-year lists. Holly Humberstone is back with ‘Die Happy', Sorry preview their new album ‘COSPLAY' with ‘Candle', and The Itch drop ‘Space In The Cab', right before their First Fifty show for Dork at London's Sebright Arms this week.
