Live & direct from their studio in Vienna, Austria, iconic electronic producer/DJ duo KRUDER & DORFMEISTER tap into the Upful LIFE. On Episode 075, Peter Kruder & Richard Dorfmeister pull up for a colorful, career-spanning conversation, both fellas waxing nostalgic & piloting the wayback machine through the pair's prolific, pioneering journey in sound. 00:00 - episode preview 04:30 - our sponsors: iamAVL, & Love That Baby 09:00 - The Upful Update 13:00 - Introducing KRUDER & DORFMEISTER 21:45 - Conversation w/ Peter Kruder & Richard Dorfmeister [83min] 1:45:45 - Afterglow & Vibe Junkie JAMZ Listening to these two fine gentleman humourously reflect on their embryonic origin story and enduring connection was nothing short of a pinch-me, bucket-list, feather-in-the-Kangol experience for your humble narrator, as K&D music remains among the most sacred in my lifetime playlist. Pod topics include: the serendipitous rendezvous that first brought them together, exploring their idiosyncratic creativity & modus operandi, tech/gear evolution, sampling obsession, the lost mystique of crate-digging, the early days of globe-trotting, crafting genre-defining records & remixes, reinventing themselves onstage, a sensational comeback three decades deep, plus K&D's virgin sojourn to Burning Man- the Black Rock Mudpacolypse 2023. Kruder & Dorfmeister Bio During the 1990s, Vienna, Austria-based producer/DJs Kruder & Dorfmeister helped invent the electronic music genre known as downtempo/trip-hop. Their presence has loomed large over the scene ever since, despite a relatively small discography as a duo. With 1993 EP G-Stoned- the first release on their similarly titled record label - the pair established a laconic, smoked-out, organic sound & aesthetic rich in live instrumentation. K&D are well-known to incorporate acid jazz, dub, house, atmospheric drum & bass, hip-hop, bossa nova, funk, soul and beyond into their trademark, succulent sonic gumbo. The duo built up a lengthy résumé of remixes for a diverse smattering of artists, including Roni Size, David Holmes, Depeche Mode, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Several of these were aggregated on the landmark double-album The K&D Sessions (1998), which was lavished with much critical acclaim upon release and its reputation continues to age like a fine wine. Over the years, the two producers remained active with solo work and adjacent projects (most notably Tosca, Dorfmeister's duo with Rupert Huber, and Peter with Peace Orchestra). 1995, a fantastic full-length studio album of original material that had been mysteriously shelved for a quarter century, was unearthed and released in 2020. Kruder & Dorfmeister are currently celebrating their 30th anniversary with an expansive world tour that unveils an authentic, emotional, kaleidoscopic audio/visual concert experience. Eternal thanks to Peter & Richard for the time, music, & energy. -bg B.Getz's feature: K&D return to US, 1st Burning Man, SF show- Sept.23 K&D 30th anniversary show - Belgium, Nov.23 K&D at Burning Man - DISTRIKT sunrise, Sept.23 Vibe Junkie JAMZ "Speechless" - Count Basic [K&D drum & bass remix] "Useless" - Depeche Mode [K&D remix] "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" [Roy Ayers remixed by NETSKY] Please visit our awesome sponsor iamavl for the latest free Asheville livestreams! Tune into this week's episode hosted by Austrian DJ and producer MEGABLAST. SASCHA WEISZ, aka Megablast, has been making musical waves for some time now with his unique, eclectic take on contemporary electronic music, a very personal, genre-crossing interpretation of house, afro, Latin, dub, trippy techno, and world beats. His range and ability to enchant the dance floors with percussionists and vocalists make him one of the most impressive and distinct artists in the industry. Since his early career in Vienna, where he gained international attention 2006 with the album “Kunuaka” by Makossa & Megablast on Kruder & Dorfmeister's G-Stone label and more recently from his new home base in the north of Ibiza, he has played at some of the most iconic events and venues all over the world, such as Scorpios Mykonos, Caprices Festival Crans-Montana, Ushuaia, Pablo Fierro's “We're Here” at Chinois (formerly Heart), Lio, Blue Marlin, Akasha, Cova Santa Ibiza, Soho Garden Dubai, Vagalume Tulum, Annabel's London amongst many others. With his releases on labels like Sol Selctas, Flying Circus, Madorasindahouse, International Deejay Gigolos, !K7 and his very own Luvlite Recordings as well as having his tracks remixed by influential producers like DJ Koze, Acid Pauli, Lucia- no, Booka Shade, Jenia Tarsol, Chaim, SadoV (Red Axes), Stereo MCs and Henrik Schwarz, he clearly demonstrates his musical repertoire and unlimited love for different genres. “As an artist and music producer, it's important for me to keep the freedom from any genres and not let others put me in a specific category,” he says. “Be yourself, don't try to be someone else, and be okay with failing sometimes—these experiences make you who you are today. Focus on quality over quantity and don't believe the hype.” Enjoy this Eclectic Journey with MEGABLAST on Redolent! 01. Makossa & Megablast - Like A Rocket (2005) 02. Topics include the musical clash between Marius de Vries and William Orbit, the return of Niki Haris and Donna DeLory, a spin around the East Village with Kruder & Dorfmeister, building an entire video around a literary pseudonym, the one subject that still upsets Madonna, Kenny works out with Rupert Everett, and a winning visit to the Grammy Awards. PLUS, Kenny and Mark unearth and endlessly unpack the true Madonna biopic - the 1998 VH1 special (and essential) Madonna Rising. There's even a cameo by Larry King. Tell Bad Boy Johnny we want our synths back! “Nothing Really Matters” video directed by John Renck (1999)“Nothing Really Matters” Live at the Grammy Awards (1999)“Madonna Rising” documentary special, VH1 1998

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, the summer of craft malt continues! Jimmy talks hops, malt, and more with Jeff Lyons from Endless Life Brewing in Crown Heights BK, NY; Ted Hawley from NY Craft Malt in Batavia, NY; Chad Meigs from The Bineyard Hop Growers in Cazenovia, NY; and Chris Holden from the NY Hop Guild in Elmira, NY.To kick things off, Jimmy asks Jeff what New York ingredients mean to him as a brewer. Ted chimes in with his knowledge of the quickly evolving New York malt industry, while Jimmy cracks open a beer brewed by Jeff that was made with Ted's malt and Chad's hops. Chad tells us about meeting Jeff at a “grower-meet-brewer” event in NYC and almost dropping everything to go to a Kruder and Dorfmeister concert with him. Then Chris gives us the lay of the land for the NY Hop Guild, who get their hops from New York farms on the shores of Lake Erie, through the Finger Lakes, all the way to Oneonta, and beyond. After the break, Jeff details the “beer for a year” program at Endless Life Brewing: a CSA-like membership where you can pick up a four-pack of lagers or a bottle of mixed-fermentation/sour beer once a month. Ted and Jeff chat about the importance of experimentation and feedback, and how forming local working relationships in New York helps to push their craft forward by promoting that dynamic. Chad details the ups and downs of hops in recent years, but is confident in the future of the crop. Hop Growers of NY, a group he and Chris are a part of, secured money from the state to start a hop breeding program over the next few years with the ultimate goal of growing a hop specific to NY state. 20 Jahre. Habe die Ehre, Klaus Waldeck! Playlist: Waldeck - Wake Up // ABBA - S.O.S. // Wycleff Jean & Mary J.
