In this episode, I've got to tell you about this amazing chat I had with Derral Eves. If you haven't heard of him, he's the genius who's been helping YouTube stars like Mr. Beast become household names, and he's the brains behind Vid Summit. We got together to talk about something I'm super passionate about: leveraging YouTube for local businesses, especially for my fellow vets out there. And before we jump in, a huge thanks to WhiteSpark and CallRail for supporting our show and helping businesses shine with local SEO and call tracking. Now, let me tell you about Derral's journey. This guy started his digital marketing agency way back in '99 and pivoted to YouTube when it was just a fledgling platform in 2005. He's not just a marketing whiz; he's also a dad to five kids down in southern Utah. His personal story is a testament to how YouTube can revolutionize the way we build audiences and make money. In our conversation, Derral dropped some serious knowledge about the unique advantages YouTube has over other platforms like TikTok. We're talking about real revenue and engagement potential here. He shared stories of success from all kinds of niches, proving that no matter how specialized your interest is, there's room for you on YouTube. For us in the veterinary field, this is golden. I even shared how Dr. Cody Gillman's YouTube channel skyrocketed to 60,000 subscribers, boosting his practice and making it a magnet for young talent in the industry. Derral's parting wisdom? Focus on your passion, not just the views. Whether you're starting a new channel or building on an existing one, clarity and consistency are your best friends. And don't worry about being too niche – it's all about finding your unique specialty and owning it. Remember to check your YouTube data now and then, but don't obsess over it. Keep an eye on metrics like click-through rates and viewer behavior post-video to keep improving your content. Wrapping up, I'm just blown away by the potential YouTube has for vets and local businesses. It's not just about growing your practice; it's about building a community and sharing your passion with the world. So, if you're a vet looking to make a mark, or you're just starting out, consider this your sign to dive into video marketing on YouTube. It could be the best move you make for your business. Thanks for tuning in, and I can't wait to see where your YouTube journey takes you!

Derral Eves is the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of "The Chosen" TV series, which was crowd-funded. He is a passionate entrepreneur who builds an audience to support his projects. He believes creating a shareable brand with a clear vision, mission, and purpose is crucial for success. Derral started in agency work in 1999, helping businesses be found online. He then shifted to creating content on YouTube, which has garnered over 91 billion views. He will also host the Vid Summit in October where content creators will learn the business side and help them leverage the opportunities in the content economy. Derral's future focuses on localizing "The Chosen" and getting it out to the world. We'd like to introduce Seth Taylor, the Chief Experience Officer of Angel Studios. When asked about the company's origins, Seth explains that the Harmond brothers began with a content filtering service but quickly expanded into producing new content. Angel Studios operates on a "pay it forward" system to finance its projects and allows viewers to purchase tickets for others to stream "The Chosen" show. Seth emphasizes that Angel Studios values comments and feedback to create fresh content that aligns with its mission to promote positive stories. The company engages its audience, supporters, and investors through a crowd-sourced strategy and asks two crucial questions: "Does this story spread positivity?" and "How much would you regret it if this movie never came to fruition?" In addition to "The Chosen," Angel Studios offers other programs and movies, including "Sound of Freedom," which was crowdsourced. Seth Taylor leads the product team in expanding the app's reach and handles marketing. The company has also designed digital collectibles for crowdfunding contributors, offering fans digital ownership of a specific scene's frame. Anyone can view the scene or frame by pausing on it. Derral Eves, the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of "The Chosen" TV series, was recently welcomed by Entrepreneur. During the interview, he shared his passion for entrepreneurship and his goal of creating an audience that would appreciate like-minded films. He emphasized the importance of engaging the audience and creating shareable, intentional content that defines the brand. Derral's vision was to translate his mission and purpose into the TV show, with the audience being the top priority. He believed that the viewers' engagement could become a social army that would promote the show and become an engine for its success. Derral started his journey in the agency in 1999, where he helped businesses be found online. He had a passion for creating commercials from a young age, but his path led him to YouTube, where he learned about embedding videos onto websites. He then began creating commercial content for over 800 clients, utilizing YouTube for web design. He eventually shifted his focus to creating content on YouTube that people would talk about, resulting in over 91 billion views of content he made. Derral's mission is to help other entrepreneurs leverage the creator economy before losing the opportunity. He is hosting the Vid Summit in October, which is the business side of the creator economy for content creators who post anywhere online. It is a platform to help budding entrepreneurs with content as a part of their strategy and to help them leverage the opportunity. Next Entrepreneur recently featured Seth Taylor, Chief Experience Officer at Angel Studios. Angel Studios was founded by the Harmond brothers, who created a content filtering service that allows users to remove inappropriate content from existing movies. However, they realized that producing new content and telling stories could be a more effective way to engage audiences. To raise funds, Angel Studios employs a "pay it forward" approach, wherein people can purchase tickets for others to watch their programs and movies. The Chosen was originally behind a paywall, but its popularity made it available to a larger audience through monetary donations that allowed others to stream it. Angel Studios collaborates with its audience through its crowd-sourced program, The Gild, which asks two questions: Does the story amplify light, and how disappointed would you be if this film was not made? Feedback and comments from the audience are used to create new content. Angel Studios is a platform that promotes stories of light and also offers collectibles to those who have crowd-funded. These collectibles provide digital ownership of a particular frame from a favorite scene, allowing users to share why they chose that scene and what it means. As Chief Experience Officer, Seth Taylor helps the product team to market their app and reach a wider audience. YouTube can be a powerful force in digital marketing when leveraged correctly. Many businesses just use YouTube as a place to upload their videos, but when used strategically, YouTube can generate video views in the thousands (if not millions) that can lead to massive business for those that get it.Joining me today is the person that I can honestly call the world's expert on YouTube marketing, author of The YouTube Formula, Derral Eves. Listening to this very special episode will give you all you need to start leveraging YouTube as a strategic marketing channel.Key Highlights[02:17] Introduction of Podcast Guest, Derral Eves[05:41] How Derral Got Into YouTube[08:09] Derral's Love and Passion for Marketing[14:06] An Example of Brand That Leveraged User Generated Content[18:10] Doing Preparatory Things[24:03] Paying Attention to YouTube Analytics Data[32:46] Getting to the Tipping Point of YouTube?[38:01] Darrel's Advice on Making Sure People Stay in Your VideosNotable QuotesThat's how I've been able to generate over 86 billion video views on YouTube and have some of the biggest successes because we focus on the viewer and that viewers journey through the video.I think that's what brands need to do I think we get so fixated on our product or service, that we miss how the product or service could be demonstrated to a wide general more of audience and really refined, and I've worked with so many businesses, that, that they have a great product, but they don't know how to explain it, they don't know how to get it out for the world, instead of saying, Look, you know, we have a great product, but how are we going to explain it in a way that brings value to people. And so a lot of this stuff comes back through creativity, but I think it goes back down to that advice is just lock yourself in a room for a couple of days and really focus on how you bring value to the general audience and how do you narrow it down to your target audience? And then how do you get the target audience to engage enough that they become your army promoting your products. We need to do more preparatory things at the beginning instead of reactionary. The more that you can resonate with your vision, mission purpose, around anything, that's where some magic can happen down the road. But I found that it takes a good solid year of consistently posting to start seeing some momentum. If you're looking at the right type of data, if you're not looking at the right type of data, or you're not bringing value to a specific viewer, and you're all over the place, it could take a millennia before you even see any progress. You can get very tactical with YouTube ads, and you can do it for very cheap to get into all the people that just watch the videos that you don't even have to serve as anyone else. Episode 44 In this special edition episode, I attended my first National Religious Broadcast Convention in Dallas, Texas and right there on the Expo floor I got the privilege of interviewing Derral Eves from The Chosen tv series. Also while at the convention I got to attend the first-ever live stream event of Season 2, episode 6 that sold out in under 7 minutes! Who is Derral Eves? Derral Eves is the executive producer of The Chosen, the highest-grossing crowdfunded movie or television project of all time. The Chosen series reaches across religious boundaries to give viewers from all walks of life a non-denominational, non-Hollywood portrayal of the life of Jesus Christ and the people who encountered Him. The Chosen budget and goals We got to talk about all things Chosen. Derral shares how he was introduced to creator Dallas Jenkins and how The Chosen went from a $0 budget to becoming the largest grossing crowd funded tv series in history with 19,000 people investing over $10 million. Currently The Chosen tv series operates on 1/8 of what an average tv show operates on. Derral looks forward to the day when Dallas can create content ‘unleashed' at $5 million per episode. The Chosen Army Have you heard about The Chosen Army? Derral says this is one way popularity of The Chosen is spreading! Their goal is for 1billion people to watch, and the Chosen Army is helping to pave the way! Listen to hear one of Derral's favorite parts of the show and what he learned after he watched it. Hear his personal salvation story and what motivated him to go from religion to discovering his own personal relationship with Jesus! Then learn what he did once that happened. Derral also discusses the human side of Jesus Christ in which He had personal relationships and not in a diety relationship, but with friends and family on earth which makes Him approachable. Derral speaks about how he grew his career out of understanding Generation Z and Millennials. He shares how they are disconnected from a culture of shaming, condemning, and bible-thumping practices. These generations connect with authentic relationships where they can see and know that real people have real issues and to learn the ways they solve and overcome the issues. Derral praises Dallas and the writers of The Chosen tv series in showing humanity both in its glorified state as well as its worst times. I plugged myself to play the part of Esther- let's see where my future in The Chosen tv series leads me?!
Why would anyone choose to crawl through broken glass? I would never consider doing that as a bucket list item. Yet Derral figuratively has, over and over and over. That's why he is the expert marketer that he is. Derral's genius mind and work ethic has been some of the driving force of some of youtube's greatest all stars: the Piano Guys, Mr. Beast, etc. He is also partners with Dallas Jenkins in the Chosen and has put in the incredible amount of time necessary to build the audience to where it currently is at. Derral loves causes. He loves building audiences to rally around things that truly matter. He shares how money is the byproduct of someone that chooses to reinvest in themselves, their business, etc. Derral was dropping so many truth bombs it was hard to keep track. So glad he took the time to be on the Lemonade Stand Stories Podcast. Enjoy!

Have you ever seen a Mystic Unicorn poop creamy, delicious, ice cream? If you caught the viral sensation ad for the Squatty Potty then you are familiar with some of Derral’s work. But Derral was not always making millions of dollars for himself and his clients creating incredible direct response video ads. After Derral Eves graduate from college with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising he landed his “dream job”: As a Hospital Administrator. No Really. That WAS his dream job. And he loved it… at first. Within six months of diving in he had saved his new company $680,000 and went to his boss for a $10,000 per year raise. A 1.5% commission seems like a pretty good deal eh? Well, not according to his boss, because if Derral got the tiny raise he was asking for he would be making more money than his direct supervisor. We wouldn’t want to rock the boat over a measly $680,000 saved in the first six months on the job, would we? “I knew right then and there that I needed to get out... I needed to work somewhere where my work was appreciated.” Despite having a brand new baby and wanting the security of a salary for his family, in 1999 Derral ended up in business for himself generating traffic for websites and doing internet marketing. In the early days, Derral was being paid a base for his work but ALSO a commission of final sales, so he was looking for every possible way to get visits to convert into sales. And video was his Golden Ticket. Fast forward to 2016, Derral has been the Executive Producer and Project Lead for the Squatty Potty ad, he’s launched the musical careers of the Piano Guys from retail piano store owners to global sensation, and recently celebrated over 1.8 BILLION total views on Youtube from videos he has produced. This episode is NOT about a specific crowdfunding project or crowdfunding necessarily. But it IS about the most crucial element of your crowdfunding campaign that you have to nail if you want to beat your funding goal: Your Video. People who come to your page will base the majority of their buying decision on quality of the MESSAGE in the video, (fortunately, NOT the “expensiveness” of the production). In this episode, Derral is going to teach you exactly how to make a video with a MESSAGE that sells. Derral considers himself a student of crowdfunding videos and offers up a number of wildly successful crowdfunded campaign videos as examples of his concepts at work. This could be the most actionable podcast I have ever recorded. Pay attention, listen to it at least a half a dozen times. Especially pay attention to how to study successful crowdfunding video online, and it will all but guarantee you hit your crowdfunding goal. You will learn: The 5 Step The Power Pitch Formula Derral uses in EVERY single one of his videos, beit a sales video for a Shark Tank client, a 1 minute sneak peek video for his own sites, to drive traffic, sales, and virality. How to get someone like Howard Stern to endorse your product, and how to leverage that endorsement into credibility and sales. Why your crowdfunding video MUST inspire for it to have a chance. Why Derral doesn’t work on the FIRST 15 seconds of his videos until the AFTER the rest is done, and why he spends MORE TIME working on the intro than the rest of the video combined. Why every single video you make needs just ONE Call To Action. The biggest mistake most video marketers make that kills sales, and how to avoid it in your campaign. Why video is the BEST way to sell your products and services without you being in the room face to face with your prospect. Why “30 seconds ads” are a relic from TV and long form “edutainment” ads on the internet are crushing them in sales. How to study the most successful Crowdfunding videos to be able to model their structure to basically guarantee your success. Why “authenticity” is so important, and how a low budget iPhone video can beat a high budget production if it is more aligned and authentic to your story. The importance of having at least three “credibility pieces”, and how you can get them even if you consider yourself an “unknown, inexperienced, rookie”. To contact Khierstyn visit www.khierstyn.com
