Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Jesse Palter over Zoom audio! Singer-songwriter JESSE PALTER is emerging as part of the next generation of elite music artists. A gifted songwriter and a versatile vocalist, Palter burst onto the scene with a naturally skilled voice that ranges from powerful and soulful to sweet and gentle, earning her instant comparisons to the likes of Sara Bareilles and Norah Jones.Palter released her debut studio album, PAPER TRAIL, in 2019 to critical acclaim and recently dropped her poignant follow-up single “BETTER DAYS”.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Palter’s eclectic musical upbringing laid the foundation for her music. While in her middle school’s jazz band, Palter began writing songs. She made a connection with famed singer/songwriter Andrew Gold (“Thank You For Being A Friend”), who brought her to Nashville to work on original material. At 15, she began working with the GRAMMY winning production team, the Bass Brothers, known for their work with Eminem.
Palter attended the University of Michigan as a jazz vocalist. During this time, she continued to hone her performance skills, leading The Jesse Palter Quartet to win 4 years of outstanding jazz awards at The Detroit Music Awards. She shared the stage with jazz music greats, and later headlined at top venues across the country. Testament to Palter’s diversity in music genres, she soon joined forces with acclaimed keyboardist, SAM BARSH, to create PALTER EGO, a popular duo that blended upbeat pop with jazz and soul.We want to hear from you! Whitmer protest, Gary Graff on the Detroit Music Awards, Jussie Smollett's bathhouse, DMC layoffs, a new Bonerline, Apollo-13 anniversary, and BranDon loves FINNEAS.What time does a noon protest start? Apparently 9AM as angry people created a giant traffic jam to protest Gretchen Whitmer's recent Stay Home Stay Safe order.People are booking cruises like it's Black Friday & they're going out of style.Doug Podell has been watching us live on Facebook in hopes that he would hear his edgy WLLZ sweeper again.Even though he has less than 20-minutes before he's live on-air, we're calling Charlie Langton from Fox 2.Covid-19 ruined all coverage of the 50th anniversary of Apollo-13. Therefore, we remember the mission with Cliff Notes Theater.Liberty University is getting sued for not issuing refunds on tuition after cancelling classes & denying Coronavirus was a problem.South Dakota is open for business & a local meat packing plant is now the Coronavirus capital of the US.President Trump is spending around 2-hours a day on TV, meanwhile Joe Biden is dropping poorly produced podcasts left & right. Has the President been watching old sporting events that he attended and was shown on TV?Drew is still digging Nick Lachey's remix of Hardest Thing and he's also expanding his post-show jam catalog with some unlikely choices.Mr. Big Stuff Gary Graff calls the studio to talk about the Detroit Music Awards going virtual & we see what the busiest man alive has been doing in self-isolation.Flashbacks to Romper Room cause Drew to start doing shoutouts on Facebook Live.Lots of people allegedly called/texted (209)-66-BONER to wish BranDon a happy birthday, but BranDon is so against shoutouts that he had to edit them all out.UFOs in Detroit were most likely paper lanterns than flying saucers.Child star Lindsay Lohan is making yet another desperate grasp for relevancy by releasing a cool dance album.Billie Eilish is getting slut shamed for showing her huge tubes, but BranDon couldn't care less because he's hot for FINNEAS.Since this is not a sports podcast you really should be checking out No Filter Sports with Eli Zaret, Bob Page & Denny McLain.Hospitals are actually losing money & DMC has now had to lay off 450 people during the pandemic.Things are so strange in the world that it's gone from thinking that people wearing masks are weird to being freaked by those who don't have one in public.Drew wants a forensic accountant to look into why 90K people needed to fly over the Easter holiday instead of quarantining at home.Andrew Cuomo has ordered New Yorkers to wear a mask in public to help prevent further spread of COVID-19.Cities are ignoring Gov. Whitmer's landscaping ban & telling police to overlook the offense.Bath house records may show that Jussie Smollett frequently took a schvitz with his 'attacker'.Very sad news in the world of Jim Bakker as he alleges he will be broke in a couple weeks. The IRS created a site that lets you check when you'll get your stimulus check... and it's gone! The paper check version of stimulus checks is allegedly being delayed so that President Trump's name can be printed in the memo line.A low risk prisoner who got released early because of the Coronavirus used his second chance to murder someone.

Welcome to another episode of Caffeine, Dreams, & Love, I’m your host - Kevin Alan Lamb. Today I have the great pleasure of being joined by the bass slapping, crochet wearing, handsome son of a gun, Steve Briere, of The Gasoline Gypsies. As fresh sounding as they are retro, the Gasoline Gypsies evoke the spirit of rock and roll …it’s music that helps us forget our cares, free our souls, and discover pieces of ourselves behind the eyes, and in the hearts of the ones we love. Their original songs feature unifying, foot-stomping anthems, that inspire their multi-generational audience to sing along to the sounds of fine vintage southern rock, rolled around in the grand ol’ grit of the Motor City…it’s music that moves … In the last few years, the Gypsies have racked up five Detroit Music Awards, been deemed one of the “Three Best Unsigned Bands in the USA” by JBL, and voted Best Original Rock Band in the 2018 WDIV Local 4 Detroit Viewers Poll. They are garnering regular radio airplay outside the Midwest, most notably in the Triangle markets of North and South Carolina. The Vagabundos, the Gypsies multi-generational, highly active, extremely colorful, and loyal fan tribe, are a driving force behind the band, accompanying them wherever their music flows. Managed by Jack Hunger, The Gasoline Gypsies are made up by Caleb Malooley, Steve Briere, Joe Makowski, and Neal Love. When I hear the word “Gypsy” I think of a wandering soul, traversing space and time to discover his or herself in the people, places, and natural wonders which make life worth living. If gasoline fuels a great journey, then dreams fuel the impossible and I really like the notion of what becomes possible when we do it together. A band is a family and The Gasoline Gypsies, are my family band.

The interview also features 2 of the band's songs. From their website:Using your talent to enrich the lives of others is of the highest purpose. Often, discovering your purpose comes from unexpected events. Like many young friends, Marq Andrew Speck, Steve Wieser and Bill Blatter formed a rock band with the intent of living the rock star life. However, after some life altering events, the band changed the course of their mission. Instead of allowing the rock music scene to define their career path, they looked within themselves and defined who they wanted to be. Their choice was to serve a greater importance by using their talent to make a moral and positive impact on society. Today, the award winning popular Christian Rock band, Sweet Crystal, has a simple mission of, “Reaching The World, One Song At A Time”™.Unlike most bands who have a lifecycle of about three to five years, these three high school buddies have been playing together for over 45 years. With the addition of their newest member, Martin Kuchar, they have “remained together in pursuit of a message.” In the forefront of Christian Rock bands, Sweet Crystal, leads the path of positive change by using their inspiring rock shows to generate and give back too many great causes. Their good has not gone unnoticed; the band has earned numerous awards and recognition including twenty Detroit Music Awards under their belt, and are nominated for six more again this year!
