ACG Metals Ltd (LSE:ACG, OTC:ACGAF) chairman and CEO Artem Volynets and chief financial officer Patrick Henze take Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's first quarter 2025 performance and full-year 2024 results. Volynets detailed ACG Metals' rapid progress since its inception in September 2024, highlighting achievements in operations, finance, and project development. The company acquired the Gediktepe mine in Turkey, generating $76 million in EBITDA last year. It also raised $200 million through bond financing and removed 70% of its warrants to optimise capital structure. Notably, ACG Metals reduced its all-in sustaining costs by 13% in Q1 2025, despite operating in Turkey's high-inflation environment. “I challenge you to find any other mining company that managed to reduce costs so much,” Volynets said. The company's sulphide project is progressing on time and on budget, with commissioning expected in Q1 2026. Henze emphasised strong safety records, with 724 lost-time injury-free days, and noted that Q1 sales reached 16,000oz, half of the annual target. Higher gold prices expected in Q2 should further support performance. Matthias Henze ist erfolgreicher Unternehmer und Fan von Selbständigkeit und Unternehmertum. Im Sonntagstalk beschreibt er, warum gerade Frauen mit internationaler Familiengeschichte überproportional häufig Unternehmen gründen und wie sehr wir darauf getrimmt werden, als Angestellte zu arbeiten, statt über Selbständigkeit nachzudenken.

Matthias Henze ist Mitgründer und CEO des Website-Baukastens Jimdo. Dadurch kennt er die Bedürfnisse von Selbstständigen und Kleinstunternehmen in- und auswendig. Ihre Bedeutung und ihr Potenzial werde häufig unterschätzt, sagt er. Und das, obwohl sie ein essenzieller Teil der deutschen Wirtschaft sind: "Es gibt ungefähr 3,7 Millionen Selbstständige und Kleinstunternehmen. 83 Prozent aller Unternehmen in Deutschland gehören dieser Unternehmenskategorie zu."Die Bedeutung der Kleinunternehmer zeigt ein eigener Geschäftsklimaindex, der vom Ifo-Institut und Jimdo erstellt wird. Die April-Umfrage zeigt: Die Selbstständigen sind wieder vermehrt bereit, zu investieren. Nach 13,6 Prozent im November 2024 planen inzwischen 19,9 Prozent der Befragten, ihre Investitionen zu erhöhen. "Dies ist ein kleiner Lichtblick, doch die Selbstständigen benötigen stabile Rahmenbedingungen, um nachhaltig stärker zu investieren", sagt Ifo-Expertin Katrin Demmelhuber.Selbstständige Unternehmer sind in vielerlei Hinsicht besonders widerstandsfähig, sagt Henze. Technologie könnte dem Ganzen einen weiteren Schub verleihen. "Ich glaube, jetzt kommt noch was obendrauf. Das ist nämlich die Entwicklung von KI, die einen riesigen Produktivitätsschub vor allen Dingen für diesen Sektor bereithält."Gerade durch Künstliche Intelligenz entstünden aktuell neue Möglichkeiten - auch für Solo-Gründerinnen und Gründer: "Ich bin auch der festen Überzeugung, dass es nicht lange dauern wird, bis wir die ersten Solo-Entrepreneure haben, die 50 Millionen Euro Umsatz machen." Wichtig sei dafür, dass die Technologien einfach zu bedienen und leicht zugänglich sind.Gleichzeitig kritisiert Henze, dass Selbstständige häufig durch gesetzliche Vorgaben ausgebremst würden: "Die ganze Bürokratie, die eigentlich für große Unternehmen gedacht ist, wird auf die Kleinen auch mit ausgerollt. Das trifft die. ACG Metals Ltd chief financial officer Patrick Henze talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's recently announced gold hedging strategy and its importance during ACG's transition phase from precious to base metals. Henze explained that while ACG Metals is ultimately targeting copper production from its Gediktepe mine in Turkey by 2026, the mine currently generates strong cash flow from gold and silver. The company has moved to hedge 50% of its gold production at US$2,875 per ounce through January 2026, helping secure revenue in a volatile pricing environment. He noted: “We are currently producing gold and silver, which is a perfect transition for us to become a copper producer in '26… we can benefit and protect a bit the cash flows by hedging the gold.” The hedge program, executed with Alpha, involves no cash outlay and allows ACG to retain upside exposure above US$3,065 per ounce on the hedged portion. Henze emphasised this strategy helps ACG provide more certainty to bondholders and equity investors by de-risking key financial metrics for 2025. Chefdirigent Roberto González-Monjas dirigierte damals Serenaden von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Nach Bruckner, Henze und Richard Strauss kehrt das Mozarteumorchester Salzburg auf seiner jüngsten CD nun unter Reinhard Goebel wieder zurück zu Mozart. Die Mozartkugel rollt wieder, und das bereits zum fünften Mal. Gemeint ist damit natürlich die stilisierte Mozartkugel in buntem Stanniolpapier, diesmal im Farbton Apricot, auf dem Cover der aktuellen CD-Reihe des Mozarteumorchesters Salzburg. Die sogenannte Posthornserenade von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, also die Serenade in D-Dur KV 320, hat Reinhard Goebel mit den Musikerinnen und Musikern des Mozarteumorchesters in den Mittelpunkt der gemeinsamen Arbeit gestellt. Umrahmt von den zwei Märschen in D-Dur KV335.  Schon die ersten Klänge des ersten Marsches verheißen Großes. Hier wird Mozart nicht als klassische Pflichtübung gesehen.Das wäre aber unter der fundierten Leitung von Reinhard Goebel auch gar nicht möglich. Zu sehr brennt der alte Musik Spezialist für alles, was er macht. Sei es Veracini, Bach, Telemann oder, wie hier, Mozart. Historisch informiertes Musizieren bedeutet für Goebel in erster Linie Musizieren! Und dann kommen seine wissenschaftlichen und spielpraktischen Erfahrungen und Ansätze dazu. Und das merkt man auch hier bei Mozart. Schön frisch und knackig spielt das Mozarteumorchester, man spürt nach den ersten Einleitungstakten, wenn das Allegro con spirito Fahrt aufnimmt, wie die Musikerinnen und Musiker sich mit Goebel einschwingen. Dass diese Serenade genauso gut Oboen-, Flöten- oder Fagottserenade heißen könnte, zeigen die Sätze drei und vier, in denen sich die angesprochenen Instrumente bzw. deren Spielerinnen und Spieler in Höchstform zeigen. Den Ehrenplatz mit dem Titel hat sich aber das Posthorn mit seinem Solo im zweiten Trio des zweiten Menuetts verdient. Auch sehr schön. (mg)

On Monday June 3, 2024, a new memorial plaque commemorating African American mezzo-soprano Vera Little (10 December 1928 – 24 October 2012) was unveiled at her former residence in Berlin's Charlottenburg neighborhood. Little is remembered today as the first Black singer to appear as Carmen on the stage of Berlin's Städtische Oper, soon to be renamed the Deutsche Oper Berlin. At the time of that appearance there were cries and protests about her hiring instead of an “equally capable” German singer. And yet, when Little returned to the stage of the Deutsche Oper in 1963, now singing the role of Amneris, she became one of the central singers in the ensemble of that company, being named a Kammersängerin there in 1970. This episode examines the life and career of Vera Little, from her birth in Memphis through her decades-long residence in Berlin. It is a fascinating, circuitous path, and one which is documented only sporadically on recording. On this episode, I play excerpts from Little's only solo recording, a 1957 Decca records release of spirituals recorded in France, as well as her recordings on Deutsche Grammophon of Der junge Lord by Hans Werner Henze, and Richard Strauss's Daphne. In addition, there are live recordings of Little singing Baba the Turk in Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress, Giovanna Seymour in Donizetti's Anna Bolena, and Beroe in Henze's Die Bassariden, which Little created in its 1966 world premiere at the Salzburg Festival. Vera Little was also an author, who published four books of memoir and poetry, and just yesterday I obtained a copy of her first book, 1978's Tears in My Eyes, from which I read a number of excerpts. I had known Little's name for decades, but had never fully explored her legacy before. Welcome to Off The Bricks, poets and poetry lovers! On this episode, Brick Street Poetry Board Member Thomas Kneeland interviews Indianapolis poet Dr. Adam Henze. Adam is a researcher, educator, and spoken word artist, and has shared his work in over 30 states, as well as Puerto Rico, Canada, England, and Ireland. He is the co-founder and former director of Slam Camp, a summer writing academy for teenage poets, and was the director of The Power of a Sentence, a writing workshop series at a women's prison in Indianapolis. He currently contributes his talents to Flanner House's community programming.

This week's “Forgotten Diva” is the mezzo-soprano / contralto Gwendolyn Killebrew (26 August 1941 – 24 December 2021), who made an indelible contribution to opera in particular during the active years of her career (1965 – 2009). Though the majority of her career was centered at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, she sang the world over with some of the most important opera companies (including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, the Salzburg Festival, Bayreuth, Washington Opera, Santa Fe Opera, La Monnaie, and the Bayerische Staatsoper), conductors (Pierre Boulez, Gary Bertini, Michael Gielen, Herbert von Karajan, Zubin Mehta, Georg Solti), and stage directors (Patrice Chéreau, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle, August Everding, Giancarlo del Monaco, Christof Loy, and John Dew). She had an enormous repertoire from Monteverdi and Handel to Henze and Fortner, excelling in particular in various Wagner roles. She was also a superb actor, who, through the use minimal gestures and stage business, made an enormous impact. This episode presents her in a wide range of material, including both live and commercial recordings ranging from Cavalieri to Zimmermann, alongside such fellow singers as Teresa Stratas, Carlo Bergonzi, Hermann Prey, Stuart Burrows, Sherrill Milnes, and Gail Gilmore led by conductors Leonard Bernstein, Gary Bertini, Bohumil Gregor, Berislav Klobučar, James Levine, Heinz Wallberg, and Eve Queler. In 1992 he earned a Master of Divinity from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and moved to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Harvard's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. After completing his doctorate in 1997, Dr. Henze joined Rice's department of religion, where he is now the Isla Carroll and Percy E. Turner Professor of Hebrew Bible and Early Judaism.His areas of interest include the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, Jewish literature and thought at the time of the Second Temple, apocalyptic literature, and the Qumran fragments. In particular, Dr. Henze focuses on those early texts that never became part of the Jewish Bible - often subsumed under the labels ‘Apocrypha' and ‘Pseudepigrapha' – and what we can learn when these texts are read side by side with the canonical writings.Dr. Henze has written and edited ten books. While at Rice he has won five teaching/mentoring Awards. He was also named a founding fellow of Rice's Center for Teaching Excellence. Der Sommer neigt sich nun schon wieder langsam dem Ende zu. Der Herbst wirft schon die ersten Blattschatten auf uns herunter. Was gibt es da Schöneres, als bei Schietwetter die Episode 19 der Blechgedanken zu hören! Ich habe mich diesmal wieder in meine Garage einquartiert und habe dort ganz gemütlich ein längeres Gespräch mit Matthias Henze geführt! Matthias ist vielen von euch bestimmt besser Erasmo Bella bekannt – jedenfalls auf Facebook!Matthias und ich haben uns vor knapp 5-6 Jahren kennengelernt, und zwar im Rahmen einer Geburtstagsveranstaltung von Vespaclub Hannover. Seitdem haben wir uns in regelmäßigen Abschnitten immer wieder rund um das Thema Roller ausgetauscht. Matthias ist wahnsinnig tief in der Szene der Altroller zu Hause. Er hat sich in den letzten 40 Jahren ein unglaubliches Fachwissen angeeignet – aber davon könnte ihr euch heute selber überzeugen.Daher geht es in diese Episode nicht nur um das Thema Vespa, sondern im Allgemeinen um das Thema Altroller! Ihr erfahrt, was überhaupt sein erster Roller gewesen ist. Wenn ihr dazu dann den Preis erfahrt, den er für den ersten Roller, eine NSU Lambretta, bezahlt hat, wird es dem einen oder andere bestimmt Tränen in die Augen treiben. Wir haben über seine vielen, vielen Jahre rund um das Thema Zündapp Bella gesprochen und wie es zwischendurch dazu gekommen ist, dass er auf seine erste Vespa umgestiegen ist. Er erzählt, wie lange und wie viele Kilometer er auf seiner Vespa abgerissen hat und wie seine Verbindungen zum Vespaclub Hannover sind (und waren!). Und warum sie eventuell darin münden, dass wir ein altes "Rennen” - die Deisterfahrt von damals wieder aufleben lassen wollen. Ich wünsche euch an dieser Stelle auf jeden Fall sehr viel Spaß mit mir und Matthias! Synopsis On today's date in 1994, at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, the Chicago Symphony and conductor Daniel Barenboim gave the world premiere performance of Partita by the American composer Elliott Carter, specially commissioned in honor of the composer's 85th birthday. It was a major work, and a major occasion – but, as the Chicago Tribune's music critic John von Rheim put it, that date “will forever be known as the Night the Lights Went Out on Elliott Carter.” Just as the orchestra was playing the final pages of Carter's complex score, the house lights went out. The audience gasped. The orchestra stopped playing. Not sure what to do, the audience started applauding. Then, after a moment or two the lights came back on. After breathing a sigh of relief, Barenboim and the orchestra prepared to pick up where they had left off – and then the lights went out again! Turning to the audience, Barenboim quipped, "It's a good thing we and Mr. Carter are not superstitious." Well, eventually the lights came back on – and stayed on, enabling the Orchestra to finish the premiere of Carter's Partita. But, perhaps as a kind of insurance policy – later on Barenboim and the Chicago Symphony also made a live recording of the new work. Synopsis Following the successful premiere of his First Symphony in 1876, the New England composer John Knowles Paine finished a Second, which he gave a German subtitle: “Im Fruehling” or “In Springtime.” In 19th century America, “serious” music meant German music, and “serious” musicians like Paine all studied in Germany. Returning home, Paine became the first native-born American to win acceptance as a symphonic composer, and, accepting a teaching post at Harvard, became that school's first professor of music. On today's date in 1880, when Paine's “Spring” Symphony was premiered at Sanders Theater, the normally staid Bostonians went nuts. One critic who was present, recalled that “ladies waved their handkerchiefs, men shouted in approbation, and the highly respected John S. Dwight, arbiter in Boston of music criticism, stood in his seat frantically opening and shutting his umbrella as an expression of uncontrollable enthusiasm.” Paine's music remained tremendously popular in his own day. In 1883 George Henschel, then the conductor of the Boston Symphony, was sent the following poetic suggestion about his programming: Let no more Wagner themes thy bill enhance And give the native workers just one chance. He devised the story for the 1999 comedy Big Daddy and wrote the screenplay with Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. It went on to be the seventh highest-grossing film of 1999, and was Sandler's highest-grosser domestically until Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015).[2] Franks created Psych, about a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department whose "heightened observational skills"[3] and impressive eidetic memory allow him to convince people that he solves cases with psychic abilities. Psych debuted on Friday, July 7, 2006. He also created the band The Friendly Indians, which recorded the show's theme song. He wrote several episodes of the series, and also directed many. Franks co-wrote and directed Psych: The Movie, a two-hour USA Network TV movie, which aired on December 7, 2017. On February 14, 2019, it was announced Psych: The Movie 2 was greenlit and all the main cast would return for the TV movie.[4] Franks also served as an executive producer and the showrunner on the CBS series Rush Hour, which was cancelled in May 2016.
