On this episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Steve and Jonathan's conversation dives into Jonathan's path from grappling with the anxiety of hiring his first employee to re-embracing fitness routines that brought balance back into his life. We unearth the moments where he chose health over more billable hours, demonstrating that prioritizing personal well-being is necessary for sustained professional success. Welcome to A BATTLE WITHIN, Episode 047Today on A BATTLE WITHIN we have the honor of speaking with Victor Medina and Dr. Roxana Delgado of TBI Warrior Foundation out of San Antonio, Texas. If you been listening to A BATTLE WITHIN up until this point, you know we have brought up the fact that many of our soldiers are fighting in the arena of Traumatic Brain Injuries. In fact, head injuries have become the notable injury of war during our conflicts in the Middle East.According to the Department of Defense, as of this recording, over 350,000 of our warriors have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury.Having the opportunity to speak to someone personally injured in this way and his support system has been an honor. What makes it even cooler is that they are doing some incredible things to help other veterans, their caregivers, their children and anybody else who needs it within their own recoveries and healing processes.A little more than 10 years ago, Sergeant Victor Medina was serving his country with his third tour in Iraq. The Purple Heart recipents life was changed forever that day in June. Victor sustains a moderate Traumatic Brain Injury. It must be said- that when a trauma like this occurs, it affects many people and the ripple affect of that is real. That's where Dr. Roxana Delgado, Victors wife comes in. Not only is she thrust into the role of Caregiver but goes on to help others. We spend time learning about the foundation they started and all the amazing work they have been up to.We also discuss some of the great resources they have on offer including a tremendous Caregivers Companion Book which is available to you for free! This past week, I had the opportunity to lead a one-day event for pastors in the Dominican Republic. This was such a powerful experience and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to meet some incredible leaders who are doing some great work throughout this country. We wanted to make sure we captured a conversation for the podcast while I was here. So I'm very excited to be sharing a conversation between myself, Victor Medina, Michael Moore, and Erick Suarez for Episode 15 of The 95 Podcast. This is probably the most honest and straightforward conversation we've had on the podcast. I'm really excited to share it, and I hope that you'll take some time to listen:Want to take a look at some conversation takeaways and see any resources mentioned during the conversation? Victor and I had a fantastic conversation and I’m sure you will find his insight into this topic engaging and informative. Let's Do Lunch! dines at La Pulperia on the upper east of New York City. The restaurant is a unique and delectable mix of Brazillian and South American flavors with a Latin flair that will tingle your taste buds. Their signature dishes are the Pacu Fish Ribs, Moqueca Mixta and El Salmon Brulee which is the sumptuous one-of-a-kind creation of Executive Chef Carlos Barroz. You normally wouldn't consider sweet and fishy as a match but this salmon tartar topped with a fromage brulee gives this raw bar selection an exciting crunchy flavor. Host Robin Milling talks with the server Jimy who proudly talks about how each selection was prepared. The bar scene is lively with bartender Cesar shaking up the La Pulperia UES cocktail. It's a marguerita with a Mexican flair featuring homemade tajin salt and a floating chili pepper garnish which Jimy says “I don't recommend you biting it at all!” The Crudo Tasting is a perfect mix of Tuna Tiradito, Shrimp Ceviche and the El Salmon Brulee. Our starter was corn and pork empanadas served with homemade chimichurri sauce that you'll want to sop up with a spoon. For our main dish Cazuela De Pulpo was served; perfectly grilled octopus surrounded by Spanish chorizo on a bed of carrot puree topped with pickled red onion and mole poblano gives it a slight kick. To top off the meal was an unbelievable Mezcal infused Chocolate Mousse. Let's Do Lunch! is also joined by manager Roman Cervantes who tells Robin the origins of La Pulperia which began with an idea by owners Victor Medina and Carlos Barroz for a “rustic deli store where friends and family can meet up together.” The ultimate is the Drag Queen brunch on Saturdays where you are entertained by the fabulous in New York.

MILO, short for Macs in the Law Office, started as a listserv for attorneys using Apple products in their law practices. Since it's inception, the interest has increased to support MILOfest: a conference centered around how to use Apple products to benefit law practice. In this edition of Legal Toolkit, host Heidi Alexander invites the founder of MILOfest, Victor Medina, to discuss the goals and benefits of his unique conference, how it's growing, and what to look forward to for MILOfest 2014. Medina is an estate planning attorney in New Jersey. In addition to being the managing member of his practice, he is also an avid contributor to the MILO listserv.
