It was no ordinary day at One Snoopy Place on July 5, 1995. A man named Ron Nelson, who worked alongside famous Peanuts cartoonist, Charles Schultz, and his wife, Shirley Nelson were shot at the Peanuts headquarters. When officers arrived, they were confused why no one else had been shot, and if the shooter was still at large. Once Shirley was loaded into an ambulance, she told them everything, and it was not at all what investigators were expecting. Author Michael Connelly and Director Alison Ellwood have created a new four-part docuseries, “The Wonderland Massacre and the Secret History of Hollywood” (now streaming on MGM+) and it proves that truth is stranger than fiction. In the summer of 1981, five people were found beaten in an apartment in the Hollywood Hills. Four were already dead when the cops arrived, including two members of the “Wonderland Gang,” which often stole drugs from rival dealers to sell or use themselves. Alison and Michael explain what drew them to this tale of modern noir, how the crime played out and was eventually (mostly) solved, and which celebrities were swept up into its macabre and twisted orbit. The only known witness was Grant's father Aaron Solomon, a former Nashville TV News Anchor turned financial analyst. It was also a well-known fact that the two had a tumultuous relationship.
