Among other things, you will learn the reason behind this focus on employee wellbeing and digital health, how he balances the double-edged sword of bringing on strategic investors early in a startup's life, lessons learnt from his times with AirAsia X and iFlix that have helped him build Naluri, and what his ambitions for the company look like ahead. Before his startup Naluri, Azran Osman-Rani started his career in management consulting, before moving to Bursa and then Astro in business transformation and business development roles. In 2007, he got his first taste of building and running a company, taking on the CEO role at AirAsia X for almost 8 years, before joining iFlix's leadership team as Group COO and CEO for Malaysia for around 2 years. All these experiences played a role in his journey to startup founder and how he approached building Naluri.Founded in 2017, Naluri takes a proactive approach at tackling employee health and wellbeing in the hopes that preventive healthcare will lead to improved employee productivity, reduced healthcare claims, and ofcourse, improved real-world business results.Naluri made around $4 million in annual revenue last year and is aiming to drive growth ahead through more geographic expansion, expanding their focus from the large enterprise space to the SME space, and looking into more products and services that compliment their existing offerings. Currently operationally profitable in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, Naluri aims to break-even this year and is working on raising its next funding round which it hopes to be in the USD$10-20 million range.

#LSF #Kemenkominfo #FILM #OTT #Sensor --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/broad-cash/support

Welcome to East West Hurricane! 🌪We update you on the most essential news from Asia in tech, media, and business—the things you need to know that you probably haven’t heard in Western media.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram! ⚡️Disney Launches New Indonesian Streaming Platform 🕹This last weekend, Disney launched their own streaming service specifically for the Indonesian market called Disney Plus Hotstar. The ‘Hotstar’ refers to the Indian streaming company that Disney acquired in order to roll out across Asian markets. This new service will feature tons of local Indonesian content and also includes a partnership with Indonesian telco Telkomsel.Indonesia is the biggest market in Southeast Asia and has always been an attractive country for Western multinationals looking to expand across Asia. The timing of this launch should be positive—as overall streaming consumption has increased because of the coronavirus. Two local rivals, Hooq and iFlix, have recently shut down, which allows more room for Disney. Indonesia’s population is still price sensitive to paying for premium content, so the initial pricing strategy is really important. In partnership with Telkomsel, Indonesian consumers can purchase data and content bundles from Disney at different levels and over a set of options around subscription length.SoftBank + Unacademy = Growing Indian EdTech Scene 🎓The investment firm SoftBank has just injected $150 Million into Indian online education platform Unacademy, with the startup now valued at $1.45 Billion. Unacademy is a five year old company whose valuation has now tripled over the last six months. As a fund with the ability to write some of the biggest checks in the world, SoftBank’s latest investment is an encouraging sign for the hot Indian EdTech Scene.Online education is booming around the world because of the coronavirus, and India is one of the largest countries to witness this. Unacademy works by connecting teachers with students through a subscription service that includes live video lectures and exams. The company has 30 Million users and 350,000 paying subscribers, which is a 4x increase since February of this year. Overall funding raised by Indian ed tech startups in 2020 has increased seven times since the same time period one year ago. In an age of many winners and losers because of Covid, online education continues to be one of the biggest winners.Kuaishou’s E-Commerce Plans 🎥Chinese mobile video app Kuaishou is one of several competitors in the Chinese digital media market. In an attempt to both differentiate and grow, Kuaishou recently announced ambitious new plans for expansion. They plan to incubate 100,000 businesses and help them achieve $146,000 in annual sales this year. They also have a goal to build 100 industrial bases, train 100,000 new livestreamers, and host 1,000,000 e-commerce livestream sessions over the coming year. What’s the motivation behind these plans? Growth, timing, and opportunity. Across the board, all Chinese companies engaged in e-commerce have seen booms in usage because of the coronavirus, and livestreaming has become the most popular e-commerce subcategory. One of Kuaishou’s biggest rivals, the Bytedance-owned Douyin, has similar plans to expand their livestreaming capability. Many Chinese companies realise the power of livestreaming and they need to move quickly to get an advantage against their competitors. This is a public episode. In episode 329, Jon Russell, editor of The Ken Southeast Asia, joined us in a conversation to discuss the continuing epic rivalry between Gojek and Grab in the era of COVID-19 pandemic. Starting from the perspective of Gojek, we discuss the impact and changes made after the founder's departure and how they are re-organizing to tackle Grab's onslaught in Indonesia and expanding out to other parts of Southeast Asia from Indonesia. With new investments from US tech giants, Facebook and Paypal, we discuss how Gojek is shaping itself to be a worthy rival against Grab backed by SoftBank and Alibaba in Southeast Asia. Last but not least, Jon discuss why the media streaming giants of Southeast Asia, HOOQ & iFlix failed to take on Netflix and the key takeaways for unicorn start-ups in the era of COVID-19 pandemic. Here are the interesting show notes and links to the discussion: Jon Russell (@jonrussell, LinkedIn, Newsletter, Personal Site, The Ken Profile) Since we have last spoken, you have moved out of TechCrunch and now joined The Ken. Can you talk about The Ken and what is your new role there? Grab vs Gojek in 2020 Let’s start from Gojek, a lot of things have happened. Their founder and former CEO, Nadiem Makarim has left the company and become a Minister of Education & Culture under President Jokowi’s cabinet in Indonesia. What’s the impact on Gojek after his departure? (Ref: Up for Grab? Gojek after Nadiem Makarim) They have started the expansion to Southeast Asia last year but it has not grown very well. (Ref: Gojek’s stunted SE Asia expansion story), can you talk about their challenges in expanding out of Indonesia while dealing with Grab who is competing in their backyard? That being said, they have been doing well on the fundraising front: Gojek has been invested by Facebook and Paypal (Source: CNBC).  What are the implications to Gojek as Google, Paypal and Facebook are lining up against Grab? (Ref: Facebook, PayPal’s payments play a super app-ortunity for Gojek) The US tech giants are in Indonesia just as the Chinese tech giants, for example, Meituan-Dianping which is a super app entering the market. What can Gojek and Grab learn from Meituan-Dianping? (Ref: The Gojek-Grab SE Asia super app battle with a Meituan twist) What is the impact of COVID-19 on Grab and Gojek? Both Gojek and Grab have done layoffs in the past month. How do you look at the approaches from both companies? (Grab CEO’s memo, Gojek’s layoffs) SoftBank has been taking a hit from Wework and Oyo. What is the downstream impact to Grab based on the current troubles in the Vision Fund? Is the race to dominate Southeast Asia going down to whether Grab or Gojek wins Indonesia and not the other countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia, Singapore)?  What will the key battleground for Grab and Gojek in the coming 2021?  Impact of COVID-19 to Southeast Asia  You have written a lot of media streaming companies similar to Netflix, for example HOOQ from Singapore and iFlix from Malaysia. The COVID-19 pandemic have led to HOOQ being shut down and iFlix being acquired from Tencent. What are the key learnings from HOOQ’s downfall and iFlix’s acquisition?  What are the key takeaways from the COVID pandemic for Southeast Asia? Welcome to East West Hurricane! 🌪We update you on the most essential news from Asia in tech, media, and business—the things you need to know that you probably haven’t heard in Western media.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram! ⚡️PUBG Hits $3 Billion Revenue Milestone 🎯Player Unknown’s Battle Grounds (PUBG) was released in 2017 and has been one of the most successful mobile games in the world, a direct peer to Fortnite, another huge gaming success. It was created by South Korean company Bluehole, which is partially owned by Chinese tech giant Tencent. Over the last seven months, the game has doubled its lifetime revenue to reach $3 Billion.A recent report from Sensor Tower outlined some of the game’s key stats, including the data point that PUBG made $270 Million in month of March alone. PUBG’s success is a good temperature check for the overall gaming market, which is doing really well in the time of coronavirus. Like most gaming apps, PUBG makes most of its money from players making in-app purchases.South East Asia’s Streaming Platforms 📺South East Asia (SEA) is a complicated region, composed of eleven countries that make up a combined population of 680 Million people. Between January to April, online viewing time has increased by 150% across the largest South East Asian countries. In SEA, the market for online streaming platforms is complex, with both global players like Netflix and local players like iFlix. Malaysia’s iFlix has 25 Million active users across SEA and was bought out by Tencent after financial troubles earlier this year. A rival platform, Singapore-based Hooq had 80 million active users but shut down in April after struggling to overcome their massive losses. The coronavirus has caused ad revenue to drop, and the model of a streaming platform paying lots of money to acquire content upfront has been challenging in South East Asia where customers usually have free alternatives. Hong Kong’s Viu uses a freemium model where their content is free but their 41 Million users can pay to remove ads. There are also many new entrants into the market. China’s Tencent is using their iFlix acquisition as a cornerstone for their SEA strategy. China’s iQiyi is also planning to launch their streaming service in the region. Disney+ announced recently that they are opening a Singapore office this year and likely launching very soon. And ride-hailing app Gojek, Indonesia’s first unicorn, is also launching their own video service called GoPlay. Ant Financial Plans IPO 🐜Ant Financial is the fintech spin-off of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba. Ant has become on its own one of the world’s biggest companies and is planning to float on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange later this year, at a potential valuation of $200 Billion. Depending on your definition, this would make Ant Financial the biggest privately-held startup unicorn in the world and the biggest public stock listing of the year. Ant Financial is not always a well known player on the world tech scene, but it’s likely one of the most underrated. Alibaba spun out Ant Financial in 2014, initially created as the payment processing system for Taobao, Alibaba’s e-commerce platform. Alipay, which is the primary product of Ant Financial, is the world’s mobile and online payments platform. On top of mobile payments, Ant Financial runs the world’s largest money-market fund and offers a diverse set of financial services. Alipay currently has 1.2 Billion users globally and Alibaba still holds a 33% ownership stake in Ant Financial. This is a public episode. But do we put the same amount of effort into our own businesses CX? Dan Gingiss is a customer experience coach who believes that a remarkable customer experience is your best form of marketing. Building on his previous work within three Fortune 300 companies as well as a library of real-life examples, Dan now offers us his expertise in building an amazing customer experience. In this episode we cover the main points that Dan’s free ebook (link in the show notes) uncovers; 4 Things Every Marketer Must Know About Customer Experience, including; - Getting everyone to focus on customer experience - The basics of creating a great experience - The digital platforms that could improve these experiences - The tools and skills will we need in the future Watch the Episode Video: https://youtu.be/aA6ZB62VT14 Takeaways - Complainers, complain because they care. Listening to your customers is so vital because of this. The ones that provide feedback and are complaining are the ones that want you to succeed, get better, improve on what you have already build. So listen to them. - Someone has to be accountable for customer experience, although everyone should be involved in it and feel like they should be part of it. Dan gave the example of invoicing and how this can be an important part of the experience, which most companies flippantly pass off as a basic admin task. - And finally, think about and remember ALL the touch-points your customer has with your organisation and make these memorable and true to your brand. As Dan stated, they don’t have to be expensive. Some the of best experiences are brought about through simple, practical and inexpensive changes.  Music Featured on this Podcast: Sleepy in the Garden Lobo Loco www.musikbrause.de Creative Commons License

Definitely a brave attempt mengetengahkan genre political thriller kat Malaysia. Harini aku bawak El Umar Mukhtar sembang pasal movie ni.

Azran Osman Rani is currently the founding CEO of Naluri a digital health technology company that provides a cost-effective and accessible digital health psychology service to help users adopt healthier lifestyle behavior changes. He is active in the internet technology space is a co-founder investor and advisor to iFlix, MoneyMatch, Cognifyx, and YellowPorter. He was previously the CEO and group COO of iFlix – a disruptive Internet TV-and-video-on-demand service that was launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May 2015. It now operates across more than 30 markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa and has 700 employees, all in less than three years from its launch. Previously, Azran pioneered the long-haul, low-cost-airline model as the founding CEO of Air Asia X. He led the airline’s growth from start-up to US$1 billion in revenue, 2,500 employees, and a public listing, all in just six years, breaking many low-cost airline industry conventions and introducing innovations along the way.   “I ended up with a seven-digit net-cash loss … and eventually had to part company with the board on that journey. So it was a very, very tough and painful, financial ending … But you know, I learned an invaluable amount from that experience, and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything else.” – Azran Osman-Rani   Lesson learned Be very wary of what banks or investment bankers tell you or advise you to do. They are getting paid their fees and commissions even if your business suffers. Have a back-up plan. Every organization or individual should have a back-up plan or alternative way to survive or cover from loss.   Andrew’s takeaway The damage of leverage. There are really only two financial risks: debt and currency. If a business is run without debt, a huge amount of risk is reduced. In business and in life, the damage of leverage can never be understated. Obey the principle of trying to remain debt-free and the principle of diversification. Never listen to financial people. Investment bankers and analysts and other players in finance usually never run a company. They sit on the sidelines doing research and giving advice, without risking anything, without having any “skin in the game”. In fact, they are making money from getting a business owner to follow their advice, which is quite distracting. Finance adds no value. This is something Andrew tells his finance students. Value is created through products and services. Value is created on the asset side of the balance sheet, where the assets of the business and the brains and the commitment and determination of the people go into creating better products and services. This is what creates value. The job of a CFO of a company is to use finance as a tool to support management decisions. Remember this, a CEO or a young CEO, who is out there trying to build their business should not get lulled into thinking that financial maneuvers are going to create long-term value.   You can also check out Andrew’s books  How to Start Building Your Wealth Investing in the Stock Market My Worst Investment Ever 9 Valuation Mistakes and How to Avoid Them Transform Your Business with Dr. Deming’s 14 Points   Connect with Azran Osman-Rani: LinkedIn Twitter Azran Osman Rani Instagram   Connect with Andrew Stotz  astotz.com LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube My Worst Investment Ever Podcast

Unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows to any device for a monthly fee – sound familiar? Up until recently, this service that Americans take for granted wasn’t available in many countries throughout Asia. Enter iflix, a Malaysian-based video-on-demand startup that aims to “bring the world’s best content to emerging markets at a price that everyone can afford,” according to Philippines Country Manager Sherwin Dela Cruz. That affordable price, by the way, is just $3 a month for content from 150 sources that ranges from the most popular television shows in the U.S. to local Asian favorites. Dela Cruz, a self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur”, and Jeremiah Carcellar (pronounced “Car-seh-yar”), iflix’s communicatons manager, oversee customer service operations in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The company is looking to expand its offering to Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa by year-end. Operating on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, iflix uses three guiding principles in its approach to social customer care: Effectiveness (actually addressing the customer’s concern), Creativity, and a Personal Touch. “We really try and practice as much as possible to have that personal touch, human-to-human conversation,” says Carcellar. He says the company handles about 3,000 posts a week in the Philippines alone, representing about 50% of all customer service inquiries. The brand demonstrates a friendly demeanor online, often employing emoji and retweets of compliments to “make sure that customers are left with a better impression of our company.” “If we can get to the point where we’re part of their everyday conversation, [where] we end up talking to them because we’re a part of their life, then in that sense we’ve achieved something and we end up building a trusting relationship which can go a long way,” adds Carcellar. As with many brands, speed of response is critical. “This is the world we’re living in now,” says Dela Cruz. “Everybody’s expecting an answer almost immediately.” Carcellar adds that iflix’s customers are showing lots of appreciation for the startup’s efforts in social media. “People really respond positively to the genuine effort and attention you give them,” he says, explaining that even when they experience issues with the service, the company has earned “the benefit of the doubt”. With the company expanding rapidly into new countries which require additional language capabilities, Dela Cruz and Carcellar are trying to duplicate their success. With their relentless focus on the customer, they are confident they will succeed. “The heart of the whole company is the customer,” says Dela Cruz. “If that voice goes unheard, then we’ve lost that customer.” The Focus on Customer Service Podcast featured iflix in its most recent episode.
