The DCEU gets dangerous in David Ayer's Suicide Squad (2016), the explosive and controversial anti-hero team-up that brings together a rogue's gallery of DC villains on a government-sanctioned mission of chaos. With a chaotic tone, gritty visuals, and a killer collection of needledrops featuring tracks from Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, and Eminem, the film follows the formation of Task Force X—supervillains forced to work together to stop a world-ending threat. Notable moments include Harley Quinn's acrobatic fight scenes, Deadshot's sharpshooting showcase, the Joker's club scene and chemical vat rescue, and the climactic magical showdown against Enchantress. Despite its divisive critical reception, Suicide Squad was a box office hit and remains a key entry in the DC Extended Universe canon—especially for launching Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn into pop culture stardom. Join Andrew Gordon & Tara Erickson as they react, analyze, and break down all the wild moments, character dynamics, and bombastic action that made Suicide Squad one of the most divisive superhero movies of its time. When you go to a live show these days, you expect to see a spectacle — an artistic production that will blow you away.Behind the scenes, there's one person responsible for bringing this production to life — the production manager. Today we join with WNXP's Music Citizens podcast to go behind the scenes with Nashville-based production manager, Tori Butash. As a “lady soundguy,” Tori worked her way up doing sound for Rob Thomas, Imagine Dragons and other bands including Sylvan Esso. It was Sylvan Esso who realized Tori was highly organized, a good communicator and, most importantly, a good hang — the perfect ingredients for a production manager. This episode was produced by Justin Barney and Mary Mancini.Guests Tori Butash, Production Manager, (Wilco, Sylvan Esso) Michael Pollard, Production Direction, WNXP Jason Moon Wilkins, Program Director, WNXP Music Citizens is a new podcast series by WNXP and Nashville Public Radio about the people who make music work. In this episode, host Alexandra Takei, Director at Ruckus Games, sits down with Mac Reynolds, co-founder and CEO of Night Street Games and Night Street Records, and Matthew Berger, Game Director at Night Street Games. Together, they unpack the journey of building Last Flag — a zany 5v5 hero shooter with capture-the-flag at its heart and music embedded deep in its DNA. From a scrappy prototype built with an outsourced team to a 50+ person studio, they share lessons on pivoting engines, refining the core loop, and innovating within the oversaturated PC shooter market. They discuss how music shapes gameplay moments, creates immersion, and differentiates Last Flag from typical shooters — and in a first-ever moment at Naavik, we share exclusive music tracks straight from the game itself. The conversation also explores parallels between the business of music and gaming industries, what game devs can learn from music artists, and the realities of cutting through noise on Steam for a new IP. Con música de The Newton Brothers & John Paesano, Imagine Dragons, y The Dramatics. Próximo programa: Historia de Editoriales de Comics Independientes (Parte II).

Musicians are going crazy in space, and Imagine Dragons are getting a piece of the action. Maybe Elvis should have Spaceland on the moon. In 2022, approximately 8,500 people lost their jobs in the games industry. In 2023, that number rose to 10,500, and just last year it ballooned to an unfathomable 14,600. Will it be worse this year? That's currently unknowable, but one thing's certain: Industry playing and spending habits are radically changing, and the newest victim of the environment (and loads of really bad choices along the way) is Warner Bros. Games, which shut down three studios (including the vaunted team Monolith Productions, cancelling its Wonder Woman project in the process) while declaring it's all-in on very specific IP, but nothing more. Is WB Games' meltdown a cautionary tale? Or is it a simple example of more-of-the-same? With seven out of 10 PlayStation 5 players playing at least one of the 10 most popular games on the platform -- and with an astonishing 40% of playtime on PS4 and PS5 spent with those 10 games, and those 10 games alone -- we are nearing an inflection point. There are too many people making too many games alongside too little interest in much of what's being released, and frankly, the bloodletting is nowhere near finished. We discuss. Plus: PSVR2 gets a major price cut, THPS 3+4 Remastered leaks via ratings, Black Myth: Wukong sells huge on PlayStation 5, Sony-published Midnight Murder Club gets a release date, and more. Then: Inquiries from our beloved listeners. How hyped are we for Death Stranding 2? What do we make of the rumors of a God of War-related announcement slated for March? Could we define the term "Eurojank"? Will Chris ever get another haircut again in his entire life?
