“In The Now” from Christian Church at Minden by Greg Lee. Released: 2025. The post In The Now appeared first on Christian Church at Minden.
The date of recording for today's show is September 12, 2024. That's important because our show today is topical and a little time sensitive. I started this In The Now format of episode to highlight certain countries and destinations who have experienced events (whether internally or externally) that have disrupted their tourism numbers. A few weeks ago I was chatting with my good friend Haytham Atwan, who is one of our top partners in Egypt. He mentioned that tourism in Egypt took a 60% hit due solely to the conflict happening in Israel and Palestine. Knowing that tourism is a major source of support for the Egyptian people, this really hurt to find out. So we put together this episode to give you some background on the history of tourism to Egypt and how things are in the country today from locals who experience it every day. Haytham joins me as well as the enthusiastic Egyptologist, Henry Ayoub. We talk about everything from the Arab Spring, to State Department ratings, to the smiling faces of children you'll see greeting you all throughout your trip to Egypt. If you've been on the fence about visiting this spectacular country, I hope hearing this episode will help you decide. On another very personal note, I'd like to dedicate this episode to my dear friend Clark Kotula. Avid listeners will remember that Clark was a guest on two past shows, and was the driving force behind our first “In The Now” Episode on Ecuador. Clark - though you are gone, you inspire me every day, and I will keep using this platform to honor your memory and inspire travel across the corners of our beautiful earth. I hope you listen to this episode with an open heart and an open mind. Learn more at www.luxtravelinsider.com Connect with me on Social: Instagram LinkedIn

Unveiling The Unity of Earth, Heart and Breath is a private discussion between Aingeal Rose & Ahonu where they discover that in the vast expanse of the cosmos, a profound realization awaits us. As we journey through life, we often forget the profound connection that exists between the Earth beneath our feet, the rhythm of our own beating hearts, and the simple act of breath that sustains us. But what if we told you these three seemingly separate entities are, in fact, intricately intertwined, each resonating with a shared frequency? #breath #earth #frequency #heartbeat #inthenow #lifeanddeath #livinginthenow #nowmoment #present #presentmoment
In "The Moment", Ahonu & Aingeal Rose discuss, with some seriousness and a lot of humor, how to live and be in that briefest of time, the moment.

We've talk about boundaries before, but this time we focused on boundaries specifically around holiday's and the pressure of saying yes to all the different events surrounding the holidays. News flash!!! It is okay to say no to some of them - your family should understand. You should never fill your plate too much to where you can't even enjoy the holidays.Tune in to hear all about how we have dealt with setting boundaries around the holidays.Let us know what you think and how much you missed us!!Be sure you are following us on insta to stay in the know! @makenziebachman, @savpowell, @inthenow_podcast.
Welcome to season 2 of InTheNow!! Did we intentionally end season 1 and start season 2? Nope not all - life got crazy and unfortunately the podcast wasn't our top priority. Are you "born again" as Jesus taught? Then you are "in Christ." And that means you are enthroned with him above everything IN THE NOW. So the key is to cultivate a consistent consciousness of that -- live and move "above the line." You can pray and decree down into earth-borne scenarios from King Jesus' POV - Point of View. And execute in life and work from your positioning with Christ! We can develop in this and positively win from heaven's perspective. The show was relieved that co-host Rania Khalek survived the Beirut blast and did not suffer any severe injuries. That unfortunately cannot be said for more than 150 people, who were killed, and over 5,000 who were wounded. For this week's episode, Rania recounts her experience during and after the explosion. She describes the widespread devastation in and around the port. She also addresses the criminal negligence on the part of the Lebanese government that led to this tragedy. What happened will have lasting impacts, especially since Lebanon was already in the middle of a massive economic crisis. During the latter portion of the episode, which was recorded exclusively for patrons, Rania provides further clarity on who was responsible and why it could not be Hezbollah or Israel. Both Rania and Kevin Gosztola move on to discuss how Twitter labeled media accounts "state-affiliated," including In The Now, where Rania works. They outline the implications and continue a conversation that took place last week after Maffick (the parent of In The Now) sued Facebook. *To access the exclusive content for this episode go to and subscribe.

In this episode of By Any Means Necessary hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by technologist Chris Garaffa to talk about the new executive order issued by President Trump after he was 'fact-checked' by Twitter, emerging fissures in the broader battle between Silicon Valley and the Trump administration, and why censorship of right-wing voices often precedes a crackdown on the left.In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Dr. Vijay Prashad, Executive Director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, to talk about his new article, "Why Iran's fuel tankers for Venezuela are sending shudders through Washington," the practical implications of Washington apparently declining to launch any kind of military attack against Venezuela and Iran over their trade agreement, and how China's appearance on the international stage has shifted the economic equation for much of the Global South. In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Michael Fox, a Brazil-based freelance journalist and former editor of the North American Congress on Latin America, to talk about Brazil's emergence as the global COVID-19 epicenter, the latest in the public breakdown of Jair Bolsonaro's political coalition, and whether the Brazilian president can to survive both the pandemic and an evolving political crisis.Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Rania Khalek, journalist and host of the Soapbox channel on In The Now, to talk about the ways mainstream media uses politically-loaded language to delegitimize anti-police brutality protests, what explains the stark contrast in portrayals of the unrest in Minneapolis and Hong Kong, and the history of collaboration between far-right factions and the armed forces of capitalist countries.
Continuing on in our friendship series - this week we discuss the difficulties of both ending & mending friendships! Both sides of these things can get a little uncomfy & find it to be extremely important to know you are not alone! Sometimes this is just a part of life & we want you to know you are valid in your feelings! We hope you are loving this friendship series as much as we are! On this episode of "By Any Means Necessary" hosts Jacquie Luqman and Sean Blackmon are joined by Ben Norton, a journalist with The Grayzone and co-host of the Moderate Rebels podcast, to talk about the Huffington Post UK editor working with a British government censorship program while smearing anti-war scholars as Russian dupes, how the case is indicative of the relationship between NATO's intelligence agencies and the most widely-viewed media outlets, and why their latest attack on journalists and academics serves as a microcosm of the growing censorship campaign against critics of imperialism. In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Dan Kovalik, author of the upcoming book “No More War: How the West Violates International Law by Using ‘Humanitarian Intervention' to Advance Economic and Strategic Interests," to talk about his latest documentary, "Nicaragua: The April Crisis & Beyond," why the mainstream media is wrong to blame Sandinistas for the 2018 eruption of chaos and violence in that country, how roadblocks erected by the opposition to overthrow the government became hotbeds of rape and murder, the US government's role in the coup attempt in Nicaragua, and how his documentary attempts to highlight the achievements of the Sandinista government in Nicaragua in the face of unceasing imperialist aggression. In the third segment, Jacquie Luqman and Sean Blackmon are joined by James Early, Former Director of Cultural Heritage Policy at the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage at the Smithsonian Institution and board member of the Institute for Policy Studies, to explain how the seemingly endless impeachment charade exposes the crisis facing the political establishment and why the 'resistance' gestures theatrically towards opposing Trump while voting for his policies.Later in the show, Jacquie and Sean are joined by Dan Cohen, a journalist and filmmaker with In The Now, to talk about why supporters of Bernie Sanders seem to terrify the Democratic establishment so much, the emerging battle between independent media and the liberal press, the parallels between the breakdown of political duopolies in the US and the UK, why many socialists defend Sanders from mainstream attacks even though by many standards he is a relatively moderate candidate, the factors shaping the alternative world order emerging in the shadows of US imperialism and the parallels between the self-coronation of Pete Buttigieg in Iowa, Juan Guaido's in Venezuela and Jeanine Áñez's in Bolivia.
Welcome to Episode 1 of InTheNow!! We are so excited to share this with you guys! We hope that you enjoy this fun intro to your podcast & we look forward to diving deeper with you in upcoming episodes. So grab a glass of now & focus on living InTheNow!!
This week, Rania Khalek and Kevin Gosztola discuss examples of censorship by major tech companies that occurred over the past week. They are targeting postings that relate to Iran. In The Now, which Rania works for, was censored and penalized with multiple months, where content on Facebook will be demonetized. The Grayzone experienced censorship. Wildly, Hulu took down an episode of Anthony Bourdain's CNN show, "Parts Unknown," where he traveled to Iran. Rania and Kevin highlight a story indicating eleven U.S. troops were injured by Iran's missiles that were fired in response to the assassination of Iran General Qassim Soleimani. Later in the show, Rania and Kevin cover what dominated most of the news cycle. Both believe CNN coordinated with Elizabeth Warrens campaign to some degree in order to boost their ratings and also strike a blow against Bernie Sanders' campaign by smearing him as "sexist." CNN and Clinton Democrats up their favorite myths about the 2016 election to attack Sanders again. But amidst all of this predictable behavior, progressive voters had a moment to rethink how they view Elizabeth Warren.

Ever since leaving Mormonism five years ago, I still get asked every now and then, "Do you believe in God?" or, “So now what do you believe in Kenn?” For a couple of years, I thought about it every day, and on a lot of the days, most of the day. In this episode, I share what I’ve come up with, as my answer for that...so far. Kenn's email kenn@kenn.meKenn's Experienced Truths1. IT IS ALWAYS NOW. Everything is AS IT IS no matter what we believe. 2. Everything and Everyone is connected and interrelated, and impacting everything else.3. The physical existence is a playground for creation, and is for discovering who we really are by having experience.4. Our mind / our ego / our judge helps us create, and to have experience, but our suffering begins when use the ego for individual identity.5. By surrendering our intellect for acceptance of everything ‘AS IT IS’ in the now, we are liberated from all self-sabotaging beliefs. 6. Everything and Everyone and is ALWAYS CHANGING.7. Increasing observation helps us see our positive or negative impact on EVERYTHING.8. Experiencing presence always trumps thinking about experiencing anything.9. Surrendering to the reality of what is right now, we discover the best of what life has to offer internally.10. In the now, accepting what is real, we are finally able to let go of our insecurities, anxiety, depression, cravings, insanity, violence within, etc. and discover the essence of our being.11. The ability to project time can be useful yet it is a psychological illusion. Life is like a dance of experience IN THE NOW, rather than a journey along a timeline.12. Believing in our version of history, or hoping for future fulfillment are both self-sabotage, resistance to truth, and perpetuates suffering and violence within at some level.13. We have the power to choose to accept our circumstances, walk away from them, or attempt to change them. Our power to choose only resides in the now.14. Suffering is a choice. When we resist WHAT IS, we choose to suffer. It is not good or bad, just a choice. We stop suffering when we choose to stop.15. Complaining under any circumstances is resistance to the reality of what is and causes suffering.16. When we shrink from pain, it increases. We gain balance, peace of mind, and learn to transform agitation into activation by lovingly leaning into the edges of our comfort zones...be they physical, emotional, mental, social, or spiritual, etc. 17. ANY resistance to full honesty—‘being truth’, is self-deception and leads away from love, and toward the choice to suffer. Love is experienced in direct proportion to complete honesty.18. Gratitude is a tool to accept the truth EVERYTHING can be used to help us become increasingly conscious, and points toward expanding into BEING LOVE in the present moment.19. Love ONLY exists in the now, and we always have access.20. Life is whole, complete, and full of love right now.21. Everything really is OK with everyone, right here, right now. Individual perceptions filter and resist this reality which keeps our mind / our ego / our judge focusing on differences instead of our interrelationship, and wholeness. 22. We gain wisdom by making our mind / judge / ego the Co-pilot, instead of the Pilot.23. We access TRUE LOVE to the depth, breadth, and magnitude we discover it internally.24. Jesus reframes our belief about resurrection life IN THE NOW -- just like he did with Martha when her brother died. We're designed in Christ to "taste the powers of the age to come" in our day (Hebrews 6:5). And that includes the resurrection life of Christ! Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life" ... it's a now statement. The truth is that the resurrection is already on since Christ was raised by the power of God. Everything can be affected by his life. Relationships. A business. A project. Anything. And yes, someone who has died. The question is -- are we willing and obedient to be "coached up" by Jesus? On this edition of Parallax Views, Shadowproof Press managing editor, producer and co-host of Unauthorized Disclosure, and all-around maverick reporter Kevin Gosztola joins us to discuss the state of journalism today, his extensive coverage of whistleblowers from Chelsea Manning to Reality Winner, the recent tensions between CNN and his colleague Rania Khalek, and witnessing the Bernie Sanders 2020 campaign rally in Chicago. We begin the conversation by discussing the state of journalism and the media ecosystem today. Kevin and I take on the claims that media criticism, specifically aimed at corporate media, is the stuff of tinfoil-hat wearing conspiracy theories. Kevin discusses the difference between establishment media and corporate media as well as the ways this biases many American reporting outlets. Whistleblower Chelsea Manning, whose case Kevin Gosztola covered extensively From there we take a deep dive into Kevin's history of covering cases of whistleblowers including Pvt. Chelsea Manning, CIA analyst and case officer John Kiriakou, and NSA contractor Reality Winner. Kevin describes how he first became interested in whistleblowers cases via the early work of Wikileaks and goes on to describe his involvement in the cases of Manning and Kiriakou as well as discussing the surveillance whisteblowers of the NSA. Then we take a dive into Kevin's latest whistleblower reporting with the case of Reality Winner, a former Air Force veteran and NSA contractor who leaked classified documents on potential Russian hacking in the 2016 Presidential election. Kevin and I discuss who Reality Winner is, the media's lack of coverage in regards to her story, how she was treated by federal investigators, nd the illegitimate smears against her because of her name and personality. Kevin also gives a bit of insight into the character of this young woman and paints a picture of a creative, conscientious, and humanitarian individual who was punished for trying to do what she felt was right and moral. Air Force veteran and NSA contractor Reality Winner standing strong in the face of adversity "Jail Buddha" sketch art by Reality Winner We then switch topics to another female firecracker more than willing to speak her mind: alternative media journalist Rania Khalek. Rania was in the news recently when CNN went after In The Now, where Rania is a reporter, for its funding by Russian state-sponsored media. We discuss the debate around outlets such as In the Now, RT, and Sputnik and have a nuanced conversation about state-sponsored media, corporate media, and related issues. Kevin and I cover the importance of media literacy and the problems of broad-bushing any criticism of US policies as being part of a Kremlin Manchurian Candidate conspiracy. In addition, we discuss how Rania and journalists like have had difficulty getting gigs because their content is "too hot too handle" and as such they've been forced into a corner with regards to where they can work. You can read Kevin's report on CNN/Khalik incident here and the full, unedited CNN interview here. Rania Khalek We then wrap up by discussing Kevin's coverage of the recent Bernie 2020 rally in Chicago. Kevin notes how the Chicago rally illustrates the difference between the Bernie's 2016 campaign and the current campaign. He argues that Bernie has more openly embraced issues related to POC and Black Lives Matter in a way that shows his based has pushed him leftward on these matters. Kevin also discusses Bernie's history of involvement with Civil Rights in the 1960s and the inspirational speech given by the young, black, queer activist Destiny Harris at the Chicago rally. Watch Destiny Harris Speaking at the Bernie 2020 Rally in Chicago We then wrap up the show with a positive note on the future as well as plugging Shadowproof and its upcoming batch of freelance reporting! As a special presentation from "Unauthorized Disclosure," here is the full interview CNN correspondent Drew Griffin conducted with J. Ray Sparks, the chief operating officer of Maffick Media, and Rania Khalek, a contributor to In The Now, which is owned by Maffick Media. On February 11, the interview took place in Berlin, where Maffick Media is based. Short clips from the interview were used in a video report, and several quotes were included in a print report that appeared on CNN.com on February 15 under the headline: “Russia backs a viral video aimed at American millennials.”Maffick Media management became aware that CNN was contacting associates of Maffick. They reached out on February 5 to Curt Devine and Donie O’Sullivan, two reporters that were trying to uncover dirt on Maffick Media. Sparks indicated they would be willing to make individuals available to CNN and shared facts with CNN that related to their funding from the Russia government and the editorial structure of In The Now. The interview offers a rare window into the mind of a US establishment journalist, who only is able to see the world through the framework of "Russia must be responsible for pockets of dissent in the country" or "the Kremlin must be behind whatever is wrong with America's current politics." We expect this to become an important artifact of the "Russiagate" era in US history.
Hosts Rania Khalek and Kevin Gosztola put together this response to CNN's report on a Russia-backed video company, where Rania works. A U.S.-funded think tank in Germany, the German Marshall Fund, went to CNN, and together, they convinced Facebook to suspend video channel pages that are owned by Maffick Media—including Soapbox. (You may have seen Soapbox videos from Rania, such as on Venezuela.) Rania recounts how CNN went digging for dirt on Maffick Media. Management eventually reached out to CNN and informed them that they knew what CNN journalists were doing. They granted CNN access and agreed to answer just about any question CNN had about the company. Kevin describes the German Marshall Fund, who is affiliated it, and why it is significant that the think tank came after In The Now. It is far less transparent in its promotion of a Hamilton 68 "tracker" to uncover alleged Russian influence operations than Maffick Media is with their videos. Rania and Kevin note that CNN's investigation was pretty poor. They did not turn up much of anyhing, but they achieved censorship, which is what matters. This has real ramifications for Rania and whether she may keep her job. Even more significantly, CNN keeps churning out reports that fuel panic over all things Russia because it is profitable. Russia and the U.S. control 90 percent of the world's nuclear weapons. Instead of contributing to a world that can support peace between these two powerful countries, CNN serves the agenda of U.S. intelligence and military officials. *** Further Reading

A member of our Sangha asked whether cleaning the kitchen while listening to music is not "Zen" enough. He used to believe that "Zen" (whatever that is) means spending one's every waking moment, morning to night, doing one action at one time with total attention and mindfulness. Hmmm. Well, there are certainly moments when we practice in such way ... when drinking tea, just drinking tea ... when walking, just walking ... when seeing a sunset, just experiencing/being this. But not every moment need be so. So, please sometimes clean while listening to music and drinking iced tea too ... or sometimes clean while watching t.v. or phoning a friend. Please also sometimes clean while not listening to music etc. etc., just being present with the cleaning, one action at one time with total awareness. Both fine ways to clean ... try each from time to time. Ya see, some might think that cleaning while doing something else is not being "present in the moment" enough. But when are we not "present right in this moment"? What makes you think that that cleaning while music listening and thinking about overdue bills to pay or your pesky boyfriend is not your complete present too? Just be present and totally aware of that! It is your instant "in the kitchen listening to 'tunes while thinking about bills and the boyfriend" just this present! How did you want to be more in the present? Why were you rejecting this "kitchen-music-bills-boyfriend" present to try to be somewhere else, perhaps in some other "more present than my present" present? Oh, I am not saying that it is good to be always multi-tasking, swept up in a mix of activities and busy thoughts. I am just saying that it is lovely and very human to be like that much of our day, perfectly fine and natural. At other times, drop all that ... find simplicity, awareness of this present moment, one action at one time, and just do that! Live each way, each in its proper moment. There is a time to stop and smell the roses ... there is a time to be totally mindful and "do one thing at one time with total attention" ... and there are times to do ten things at once, and just be totally "present" with that. This practice is never about "leaving the present to be present with the present" ... but just to be presently present with what the present presents as a gift-wrapped present. Everything in its proper time. There are times to be in the present experiencing fully just the present, and times to be in the present which is thinking about tomorrow or something that happened last Tuesday. Push none of it away. Oh, in Zen practice, we come to find a kind of inner switch that we can push to be "IN THE NOW" when appropriate, when we want to be. But it is not a switch to push constantly ... because then the richness of this life can be missed in other ways. BUT DOES THAT MEAN THAT ONE CAN JUST CLEAN THE KITCHEN ANY OLD WAY ONE WISHES AND IT'S STILL 'ALL GOOD PRACTICE'? ABSOLUTELY NOT! One thing to completely master in cleaning a kitchen the "Zen Way" ... whether just cleaning to clean as the one and only activity in all time and space ... or just cleaning while listening to tunes, drinking tea and chatting on the phone ... is this vital way of being, to wit: In all cases, clean diligently to attain making the room clean, while simultaneously dropping all thought of "clean vs. dirty" and anything to attain. Also, even though part of your heart may wish to be on a sunny beach on a tropical island instead of spending one's precious time cleaning a dirty kitchen, simultaneously drop any thought of somewhere else to be or where you need/can be. Such truly being "one with the moment just as it is" is much more vital to our practice than whether one is listening to tunes, talking on the phone or not ... than being totally focused on the moment. Today’s Sit-A-Long video follows at this link. Remember: recording ends soon after the beginning bells; a sitting time of 15 to 35 minutes is recommended. Please visit the forum thread here!
