For a New Hope remix, there sure is a lot of Empire Strikes Back in this book... As we cover the third installment of the first Star Wars Infinities book, we question Han's motivations and Leia's commitment to evil.
Things take some wild turns as we continue our coverage of the first Star Wars Infinities book. Not content to just be a "What If...?" of Episode 4, this comic dares to ask questions about a lot of things!
From one sandy planet to another, we head into the twisted reality that is Star Wars Infinites to ask ourselves, "What If..." but not really, because that's a Marvel thing and we're covering a Dark Horse book this week!
Look, we cut out like a half an hour of this episode and it's still long. We tried. There are, unfortunately, some audio issues with popping and fizzle, both technical terms, that Alan claims is “our fault” but we don't pay him for criticism. Hell, we don't pay him at all. Rest assured, anything wrong with this podcast is like 99% the Scribes fault. Anyway, we cover some good distance in this one from portmanteaus to cigar bars on Valentine's Day.

Join Fazale Rana and Jeff Zweerink as they discuss new discoveries taking place at the frontiers of science that have theological and philosophical implications, including the reality of God's existence. Origin of Composite Genes A team of investigators from the University of Nottingham in the UK has demonstrated that composite genes make up about 5 percent of the gene groups in animal genomes. When viewed from an evolutionary framework, these composite genes don't appear to have accrued gradually in animal genomes but instead arose in bursts at times that correlate with evolutionary innovation. As it turns out, about 40 percent of composite genes appear to have had multiple independent evolutionary origins. In this episode, biochemist Fazale Rana discusses this remarkable study and explores what this new insight means for evolutionary and creation models. RESOURCES: Bursts of Novel Composite Gene Families at Major Nodes in Animal Evolution Additional Resource: Fazale Rana, What If . . . ? Convergence Strengthens the Case for Creation? Infinities and Absurdities The topic of infinity fascinates people and provides for interesting discussions regarding the nature of creation. Often, when discussing infinity, one will hear the claim that actual infinities don't exist because they lead to absurdities. In this episode, astrophysicist Jeff Zweerink provides some background to this assertion and then makes a counter claim that we could apply the same logic to the notion of zero. However, since few rational people would argue that actual zeroes don't exist, Jeff contends that we cannot use some popular arguments about infinities to claim that actual infinities don't exist. Comment investir quand on n'y connaît rien et à partir de combien? Comment gérer la relation avec un client difficile
I answer several objections against the argument for the impossibility of an actual infinite that I offered in the last episode:1. Infinite set theory shows that infinities exist2. You can divide anything an infinite number of times3. God is said to be infinite4. God's knowledge is infiniteThen, I explain the last two philosophical arguments against an infinite past, namely (1) that an infinite cannot be formed by successive addition and (2) it is impossible to traverse an actual infinite.Web: ThinkingtoBelieve.comEmail: ThinkingToBelieve@gmail.comFacebook: facebook.com/thinkingtobelieveTwitter & Gettr: @thinking2believParler & Truth: @ThinkingToBelieve

Tired of starting from scratch every time you switch marketing agencies? Dive into a new era of marketing with Denise Galiatsatos, President/COO of PCG Digital, as she unveils the transformative power of owning and leveraging your dealership's data. Embrace the never-start-from-zero-again strategy to give your dealership the competitive edge it needs in today's digital landscape. In this episode, Denise emphasizes the significance of dealerships creating their own first-party data. By building a database of customers who are already familiar with the brand and have interacted with them, dealerships can target specific audiences and foster loyalty. This data allows dealerships to tailor their messaging effectively and prevent customers from being sent to other dealerships. To track and analyze data comprehensively, Denise highlights the importance of utilizing a Customer Data Platform (CDP). A CDP can integrate data from various sources, providing a more holistic view and enabling better insights into consumer behavior. With a CDP, dealerships can make informed decisions and measure ROI accurately, beyond traditional tracking methods.Denise emphasizes the need for dealerships to define their campaign objectives and measure ROI based on those objectives. By identifying the metrics that align with their goals, such as brand estimated recall lift, phone calls, conversations, messages, and lead form submissions, dealerships can accurately gauge the success of their campaigns and make data-driven decisions.Key Takeaways:Importance of owning all of your data and never starting from zero again Importance of ownership of Facebook Page, Business Manager, and Facebook Pixel and everyone collaborating around the one Pixel CDPs (Customer Data Platforms) - Ability to measure true ROI, clean data, segmentation, serving intentional messages, do you own the data, think the process through prior to jumping on boardConnect:Denise Galiatsatos: https://qrcc.me/ryh3wxi389o8 BZ Consultants: https://qrco.de/bcqqFo Apple

Legends Library hosts Liisa and Kyle delve into Infinities New Hope, the what if comics of Star Wars where the story is completely different from everything we know. The Death Star was not blown up by Luke and the Empire successfully destroys every rebel, even capturing Leia where she becomes a forced apprentice to Darth Vader. Luke meanwhile thanks to Han goes to Dagobah and spends the next five years training under Yoda before discovering Leia, the hope of the rebellion was still alive.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/koGEYzRPu6wComic: Dark Horse Comics Star Wars Infinities New Hope 1-4 Writer: Chris Warner Penciller: Drew Johnson Inkers: Ray Snyder, Al Rio, Neil Nelson Letterer: Steve Dutro Colourist: Dave McCaig Cover artist: Tony Harris Legends Con Ko-Fi Campaign: https://ko-fi.com/legends_con More on Legends Consortium: https://legends-con.com/ Twitter: @Legends_Con legendsconsortium@gmail.com Legends Library Podcast: Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/legendslibrarypodcast Discord: https://discord.gg/QMMR5r4dyb Twitter:@legendslibrary @liisamountain @darnkatarn Hosts: Liisa Mountain and Kyle Rawlingslegendslibrarypodcast@gmail.com Drum Intro: Jodeye KnightAll Star Wars content and material is owned and copyright by Disney and LFL.
The idea of infinity is probably about as old as numbers themselves, going back to whenever people first realized that they could keep counting forever. But even though we have a sign for infinity and can refer to the concept in casual conversation, infinity remains profoundly mysterious, even to mathematicians. In this episode, Steven Strogatz chats with his fellow mathematician Justin Moore of Cornell University about how one infinity can be bigger than another (and whether we can be sure that there isn't an intermediate infinity between them). They also discuss how physicists and mathematicians use infinity differently and the importance of infinity to the very foundation of mathematics.
John Banville talks about the mystery in great art, the escape into life rather than out of it, the observation at work in the heart of good writing, bearing witness to the world in all its beauty and horror—and also cats and dogs… John Banville, who won the Booker Prize in 2005 for his novel The Sea is known for his exquisite use of language, acutely observed characters, and novels which are not afraid to look into the dark. He has written a library of literary masterpieces, including Mefisto (1986), The Infinities (2009), and Ancient Light (2012). His latest book The Lock-Up is out now with Faber.

They talk about the jobs she drifted in an out of in her 20s, how she got to be a mature student thanks to having Mill Aunties, whether therapy makes or breaks a comedian, how to stay sane and how the Perry family have become a 21st Century Vision On. Richard attempts to get some free therapy and desperately looks for reasons to blame his parents for the way he's turned out and tries to find out if stone clearing is a healthy activity for him. Plus he is mocked for his small feet and hands, which I don't think is something therapists should be doing and they chat about the horrors of growing old.Come and see us live http://richardherring.com/rhlstpBuy Richard's new book here http://gofasterstripe.com/ballSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITESee details of the RHLSTP TOUR DATES Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. Infinities puncture the dream of a simple, bullet-biting utilitarianism. But they're everyone's problem. Text version here.Edited for Joe Carlsmith by TYPE III AUDIO.
Infinity is a symbol in mathematics to represent something that is immensely big, so big that we can't use numbers to represent them. We talk about infinities in detail and also discuss the number system. North America is currently experiencing an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in both wild and domestic birds. To discuss this devastating disease and the implications for wildlife rehabilitation, I am joined by Dr. Victoria Hall, Executive Director at TheRaptorCenter at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hall is the Patrick T. Redig Endowed Chair in Raptor and Ecosystem Health. She holds a Master of Science in Preventative Medicine and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State and is board certified in Veterinary Preventive Medicine. Dr. Hall has spent her career working at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health - an intersection known as “One Health.” Dr. Hall formerly served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, responding to infectious disease outbreaks in human health, including: multidrug resistant tuberculosis, measles virus, and Zika virus. With experience at organizations including the Smithsonian National Zoo, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the United States Department of Agriculture, Dr. Hall is passionate about working on complex ecosystem health challenges on a global scale and engaging stakeholders and partners of all levels. Now as Executive Director of The Raptor Center, she oversees a team of professionals who treat over 1,000 injured raptors a year and who care for 28 ambassador birds. In addition to excellence in care for individual birds, she also leads innovative ecosystem health research at the University of Minnesota to help secure the future of the environment that humans and animals share. This involves working on critical health challenges, like SARS-CoV-2, lead toxicity, and avian influenza which is the topic of this episode. Dr. Hall describes what HPAI is, what the letter/number combination H5N1 mean, and how seriously we should be concerned about this globally reportable disease. How does the disease (if the bird is symptomatic) manifest? We also talk about what biosecurity means in a wildlife rehabilitation setting —whether it is a one room operation or large wildlife rehabilitation center like The Raptor Center (TRC). Special thanks: Production assistance by Twin Cities based audio engineer Thom Whetston. This episode concludes with the track “Firebirds,” which is the closing track on INFINITE INFINITIES, the debut LP from the band INFINITIES, recorded in Minneapolis in 2015. It has been a slow couple of weeks in the comic book industry with Captain America turning 80 and funny number reporting with Keanu Reeves' BRZKR #1. Chris and Hector (fighting back a cold) talk about the Infinite Frontier from DC along with their Top 4 Pulls and the #1's worth your time.
Today we are joined by Mirah Shi, a mathematician at Barnard College. Together we try to wrap our minds around the concept of infinity, trying to not get completely lost in the process.
