Russell Crowe is back again with his clerical collar fighting demons! A little over a year after The Pope's Exorcist (2023) was released, a new movie called The Exorcism has been released directed by Joshua John Miller. Joshua John Miller is the son of Jason Miller who played Father Damien Karras in the 1973 horror film The Exorcist! Joshua John Miller was also a child actor who starred in movies like River's Edge, Near Dark, Class of 1999, and Teen Witch. In his directorial debut The Exorcism (2024), Joshua John Miller directs Russell Crowe as Anthony Miller, an actor with a deteriorating mental state who melts down as he's working on an exorcism horror movie. The film also stars Ryan Simpkins, Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Adrian Pasdar, and David Hyde Pierce. Will it live up to the dizzying heights of The Pope's Exorcist? We will let you know!

What an excellent day for filming an exorcism. THE Exorcism, in fact! And that's the closest thing to a joke you're getting, because the duo behind The Final Girls is back with another deeply personal-- and far much colder-- look at a young woman connecting with a parent in showbiz. Joshua Miller and M.A. Fortin team up with Russell Crowe and a seemingly endless list of character actors to tell the story of a newly-sober man trying to get himself on the right track by taking what could be the role of his career, the priest in a remake of a famous exorcism movie, no matter what demons from his past it may awaken. Unable to win respect at home or on set, dodging a well-intentioned holy man, a director more interested in getting a rise out of him than his acting, and an alleged "curse" that's already claimed one actor, it's the perfect environment for a man to lose himself... or be found.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BoxOfficePulpPodcastTwitter/X: https://x.com/boxofficepulpApple Podcasts: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/box-office-pulp/id577338641Amazon Podcasts: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/7c11ff8b-2875-454d-8770-8b1d36d04b52Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/534ZPRmDoZzNs5GtiAhOEcWays To Listen: https://pod.link/BoxOfficePulpPodcast with Zecastr, offer code BoxOfficePulp

Send us a Text Message. On this 85th episode of Fabulous Film and Friends we are going to connect the dots between three seminal cautionary tales from the 80's: 1984's Repo Man directed by Alex Cox and starring Emelio Estevez, Harry Dean Stanton, Olivia Barash, Jennifer Balgobin, Dick Rude, Tracey Walter, Sy Richardson, Vonetta McGee, Richard Foronjy, Tom Finnegan, Eddie Velez, Del Zamora, Zander Schloss, Fox Harris and Jimmy Buffet. Then 1987's River's Edge directed by Tim Hunter starring Keanu Reeves, Crispin Clover, Ione Skye, Daniel Roebuck, Joshua John Miller, Josh Richman, Roxana Zal, Jim Metzler, Tom Bower and Dennis Hopper and topped off with Robocop, also from 1987 and starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, Paul McCrane, Ray Wise, Jesse D. Goins, Felton Perry, Del Zamora, Dan O'Herlihy and the inimitable Ronny Cox. I'm Gino Caputi and returning to the program to break down all this cynicism and disaffected young adulthood are my sister Roseanne, the lit major, Joe Field, the author/hypnotist and back again after a long fitful stint in suspended animation, the photobug and funny man Gordon Alex Robertson!Okay before we suit up and start taking names, the synopses: In Repo Man, Otto, an LA punk, gets fired from his job as a grocery clerk but finds his true calling when a tough-talking stranger named Bud convinces Otto to join his team of auto repossession agents. Bud, Otto and the entire network of the repo men run into an existential crisis when a mysterious car that has a reward of 20k is believed to have an alien in its trunk. River's Edge is loosely based on true events and catalogues a turmoil of emotions or lack thereof that a group of teens encounter when they discover one of their friends, John aka Samson, has murdered his girlfriend while another friend, Layne, swears them all to secrecy. Robocop looks into the future where the Detroit police are privately owned by a corporation called Omni Consumer Product. After Alex Murphy a brave but naive officer is killed in the line of duty by a ruthless crime lord named Clarence Boddiker, Murphy's body is given to OCP for a pilot program that transforms Murphy into a cyborg called Robocop. The program seems to work and Robocop starts cleaning the streets until he realizes all is not right in his programming and there are sinister forces that led to his creation, including a pact between OCP VP Dick Jones and Boddiker's gang. Ever wonder why Graham is the way he is (aka utterly perfect?) Well, your favorite podcasters invite his older sister Stephanie on to our show to talk about the very movie that shaped them as kids (them, and most likely no one else, based on the box office) -- as the two Veths introduce Katie and Ashley to the WONDER that is 1989's Teen Witch. Drama, romance, comedy, musical, fantasy...this movie has it all! Starring Robin Lively as high school "nerd" Louise who, upon her 16th birthday, develops special witch powers! And who better to welcome her into her coven than pint-sized powerhouse, Zelda Rubenstein -- an ersatz fairy godmother if there ever was one. Will Louise cast a spell to make her (and Graham's) crush Brad (played by Dan Gauthier) fall in lovewith her? Or perhaps take on the essence of a pop star to become the most popular girl in school? Or maybe she just turns her little brother (brought to magical life by Joshua John Miller) into a dog. Who knows what's possible in this mishmash of razzle dazzle! We also dive into some of the Veth family childhood favorites, as well as Stephanie's 9 year old daughter's very insightful opinions on her mom and uncle's film tastes. Could this movie be any more supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting? Who would really ever wanna go and TOP THAT? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Welcome Mutant Goons to our first week of Thanksgorging here on Slashers Podcast! This week Doug and Ade dive into Kathryn Bigelow's debut film Near Dark (1987). This film stars the amazing Bill Paxton, Lance Henrikson, and Jenette Goldstein, whom you may remember starred together in a little James Cameron film, Aliens. Cameron suggested that Bigelow throw in his actors for good measure, and boom, we have a vampire horror western which Doug finds reminiscent of Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. The film also stars 80s favorite, Jenny Wright as Mae, the seductive vampiress, and Jason Patric's little brother Joshua John Miller as Homer. You may know Miller from his horror comedy The Final Girls, as he is now all grown up and no longer a creepy little vamp. Find out why we feel this film is unfairly compared with The Lost Boys, that, while totally butt-fucking awesome, is a completely different film both atmospherically and tonally. In addition, we discuss which vampires we'd like to be if they were real: Twilight vamps, Underworld vamps, Fright Night Vamps, From Dusk Till Dawn Vamps, Interview with the Vampire vamps, the list is endless! If you could be immortal, which would you choose? Give us a shout and let us know why on any of our platforms. We hope you enjoy this month, our theme is basically choosing horror that showcase nasty eats--and what better way to kick it off than with one of the most badass vampire Westerns ever? We're heading out west with a campervan full of vampires this week to review the cult classic Near Dark, released October 2nd in 1987. It's a beautifully shot mixture of western and horror tropes with some bloody vampire action and fun performances from the likes of Bill Paxton. We go back the beginning and take another look at Kathryn Bigelow second feature film, Near Dark. One of the best performances from Bill Paxton. Lance Henriksen in one of his most menacing roles. Joshua John Miller, Hollywood royalty, in the role of childish role of Homer. This is a true classic and unique vampire film. Dani G gives her thoughts on this classic vampire western. Loki Jesse chose this week’s film and it sets up a great discussion. Audio clips from Near Dark (1987) are owned and copyrighted by their respectful owners. Music and sounds from Music-Note World Graphics made and provided by Cecilia L. Leal
We take a realistic look into the unrealistic world of romantic comedies that we LOVE to hate. This Week - Teen Witch (1989) Starring: Robyn Lively, Dan Gauthier, Joshua John Miller A wonderful movie where a teenager is a teenager, but with magical powers. We ask the tough questions, this week: Would any of this have happened, had Louise accepted the ride from Brad, in the first place? When looking at Brad, is there or has there ever been a ‘Brad’ to exist that ‘Brad’ded more than Brad? And would collegiate football teams recruit Brad to play for their team? Listen to the podcast - then watch the movie or vice versa! But stay home, please. What do you need to go out for? Maybe groceries? Then go back home. Stay home. No need to go out. Pretend you're in an underground fallout shelter. It's therapeutic (and just safe, right now). HEIGL Meter!! This week on the podcast, we're escaping into the movies (literally) to revisit queer screenwriters M.A. Fortin & Joshua John Miller's meta horror comedy The Final Girls. Joining us at Camp Bloodbath is Jenn Adams, co-host of Psycho Analysis Podcast and The Losers Club Podcast, who has a deep appreciation for the film's emotional beats. We spend plenty of time unpacking this comfort horror film, particularly the mother/daughter relationship between Malin Akerman and Trace's fave, Taissa Farmiga, and Vicki (Nina Dobrev)'s redemptive arc.Plus: disagreements over Adam Devine and Thomas Middleditch's humor, getting sidetracked talking about everyone's filmography and the apex of Joe's inability to pronounce names correctly.Questions? We’re getting witchy with it! For October, we’re doing all witch movies! First up is Teen Witch, the 1989 high school comedy which stars Robyn Lively as a nerdy teen who gets magickal powers on her sixteenth birthday. Blaire and Marie discuss the new reboots of The Craft and The Witches, tuxedo shirts, bolo ties, acid wash, "shenanigans," and praise Richie, the hilarious little brother played by Joshua John Miller (who should have gotten an Oscar for this role TBQH). Costumes by Judie C. Champion (and apparently Robyn Lively, who used a lot of her own clothing for the film)! Listen to our past witchy episodes here: Practical Magic (1998) The Craft (1996) Witches of Eastwick (1987) The Love Witch (2016) For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod DM or email your movie requests at info@fishnetflix.com!
Murder! Revenge! Voodoo! Sex perverts! Sounds like the makings of a good movie, no? Unfortunately nobody wants to take credit for having anything to do with this film. Tara and Adam investigate why that might be
"Bette Davis Cries" Closing out our month of heat-soaked horror, Bloody Blunts Cinema Club welcomes director Todd Strauss-Schulson to talk about his film THE FINAL GIRLS (2015). Take it from us, trying to get laid and accidently falling in with a group of outlaws is always a dangerous situation. Now when those outlaws hold a much darker and deadlier secret is when the Fried Squirms get interested. _Near Dark_, from acclaimed director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty), has all that going for it, plus Bill Paxton! So toke up and listen in as we bleed dry our thoughts on _Near Dark_. Listen to more Fried Squirms at www.friedsquirms.com Check out all earVVyrm podcasts at www.earvvyrm.com

What's better than watching a campy 80's slasher movie? Getting sucked into one! Would Avital, Jessica or Asha be the final girl? How many slasher references did you catch? A horror movie with heart? This isn't just a cruel summer, it's the holiday season!
No Sell Entertainment's weekly movie review podcast takes on "And You Thought Your Parents Are Weird"(1991) starring Edan Gross and Joshua John Miller.
What's the most dangerous occupation? According to slasher movies, it's being a teenage camp counselor. In this episode of Chick Flicks, Bridget and McKenzie discuss the final girl trope (a term coined by Carol J. Clover) and its use in the films Friday the 13th (1980) and The Final Girls (2015). Friday the 13th was directed by Sean Cunningham and written by Vic Miller. It stars Betsey Palmer and a young baby Kevin Bacon. The Final Girls was directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and written by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller (hey, he seems familiar...). It features the talents of Alia Shawkat, Thomas Middleditch, and our favorite dancer, Angela Trimbur. Chick Flicks is a feminist film review podcast hosted by McKenzie Chapman and Bridget Hovell. WDIRT V2E1: ALICE, SWEET ALICE (1976) This slightly sleazy, giallo-esque proto-slasher gained notoriety for starring Little Brooke Shields. But it was the anti-Catholic sentiment and shocking violence that got it condemned. Director Alfred Sole borrows from Hitchcock, throws in some DON'T LOOK NOW and tops it all off with a creepy masked killer. Enjoy! [Stars at 00:01] [EPISODE CORRECTION: Jason Patric and Joshua John Miller are half-brothers, not step-brothers.] WDIRT V2E1: LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH (1971) After a stay in a mental institution, Jessica, along with her husband and their friend, moves from Manhattan to Connecticut in hopes that her fragile mental state will improve. They encounter a mysterious stranger squatting in their new home, strange, hostile men covered in bandages, and a mute girl, all of whom may be the victims of a century old vampire. Will Jessica escape alive and with her sanity in tact? p.s. There's outtakes at the end of this one! :P [Starts at 18:45] WDIRT V2E3: THE GATE (1987) Why didn't I rent this? Apparently I'm a dingus. "It's THE EVIL DEAD, for kids!"--Mark Begley. 'Nuff said. [Starts at 52:46]
Caleb reluctantly joins a group of traveling southern vampires after being bitten by Mae, a beautiful drifter, in Near Dark (1987). Halloween III may have been directed by Tommy Lee Wallace but has Carpenter's stamp literally everywhere. Shunned when it was released, we give it the proper accolades and review it deserves.
