As it was Easter, Dave gave the co-hosts the week off, but we do have a brilliant Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast, especially for those of you who are fans of 'Star Trek: Discovery', as we interview the Discovery captain herself, Sonequa Martin-Green, and prolific composer Jeff Russo, who not only scores Discovery, but a million other amazing shows!'Star Trek: Discovery' returns on Thursday, 4th April 2024 for its 5th and final season, as Sonequa Martin-Green takes the helm one last time in an epic adventure. In the interview, Sonequa discusses her feelings about the series coming to a close, the journey of her character, Michael, and whether we may see more of her in a Starfleet uniform at some point in the future...In the second interview, Dave catches up with composer Jeff Russo, the man who not only scores 'Star Trek: Discovery', but is also something of an overseer for the music across the current Star Trek franchise. In addition to 'Discovery', Jeff has a second show dropping on Thursday, 4th April 2024, which is Netflix's much anticipated ‘Ripley', a new adaptation of ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley' starring Andrew Scott, which re-teams Jeff with the brilliant director Steven Zaillian, who he previously worked with on incredible mini-series ‘The Night Of'.Jeff is a prolific composer and has worked on such a ridiculous number of shows it is hard to keep track. In the interview, we not only talk about his work on 'Star Trek: Discovery' and 'Ripley', but also FX's 'Fargo', which recently concluded its 5th Season, Apple TV+'s ‘For All Mankind', Netflix's ‘The Umbrella Academy' which returns for its final season in August, and CBS dramedy ‘So Help Me Todd'.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. We are back with another Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast, and this week Dave is chatting with the sound team behind Apple TV+'s epic WW II drama ‘Masters Of The Air' - Supervising Sound Editor, Jack Whittaker, and Re-Recording Mixers Duncan McRae and Michael Minkler.‘Masters Of The Air' stars Austin Butler and Callum Turner, and follows the incredible true story of the 100th Bomb Group, a B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bomber unit in the US Eighth Air Force, based in England during World War II. It is the third series from the creative team behind both ‘Band Of Brothers' and ‘The Pacific'.In the epic drama, Jack's expertise as a Supervising Sound Editor ensures that every auditory detail, from the roar of engines to the subtle nuances of dialogue, contributes to the immersive storytelling experience. He collaborates with Re-Recording Mixers Michael & Duncan, whose mastery lies in blending and enhancing different audio elements, the sound team meticulously crafts a sonic landscape that transports viewers into the heart of World War II aviation.Their work goes beyond mere technicality – it becomes a narrative force. The rumble of engines becomes a heartbeat, the soaring planes echo the bravery of young pilots, and the silence between explosions creates tension that underscores the gravity of their missions. Through their artistry, the sound team adds layers of emotion, suspense, and authenticity, enriching the narrative and ensuring that the audience feels the intensity of the story on a visceral level.Jack Whittaker's previous work includes films such as Marvel's ‘Shang-Chi', Ryan Reynolds ‘Free Guy', and the Oscar-winning short ‘War Is Over!'. Duncan McRae also worked on ‘War Is Over!', along with the films ‘One Night in Miami', ‘Hamilton', and ‘John Wick: Chapter 3'. Michael Minkler's extensive CV includes ‘The Pacific', ‘Elvis' (also starring Austin Butler), Tom Hanks film ‘Greyhound', plus ‘Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood', ‘Mamma Mia!', ‘Dreamgirls', and even goes back to 'Star Wars: A New Hope'.If you've yet to catch ‘Masters Of The Air' the entire series is available now on Apple TV+ worldwide.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. This week, I'm chatting with the lovely composer, Jake Monaco.Jake Monaco is an American film and TV composer, who has worked on a huge array of projects, from some of the biggest film scores of the past decade, to children's TV shows, and everything in between. This fascinating nature series follows the travels of a huge array of animals, from the humpback to the dung beetle, and many other species. We are back with a new episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. This week, I'm chatting with Jamie Barty, VFX Supervisor at FuseFX, about his work on various projects, including Prime Video's wonderfully weird 'I'm A Virgo'.British-born, but based in Fuse's Canada office, Jamie has worked on a huge array of shows for the company, including ‘The Orville', ‘Fort Salem', ‘La Brea', 'Snowpiercer' and ‘Upload', some of which we delve into during the interview. However, we begin by chatting about his more recent project, ‘I'm A Virgo', which is available now on Prime Video. From director Boots Riley, ‘I'm A Virgo' is a fantastical coming-of-age story of a 13-foot-tall man, Cootie, who is hidden in Oakland, CA, but escapes to experience the world. On his journey, he forms friendships, finds love, encounters awkward situations, and so much more. The series stars Jharrel Jerome as Cootie, Brett Gray, Mike Epps and more.FuseFX collaborated closely with Boots to create the alternative reality of Cootie. The team implemented many in-camera and VFX tricks to give Cootie his impressive 13-ft tall stature, including miniatures, puppets, full digi-double characters, CG props, shrinking of other characters, and camera/compositing trickery. The team strived to achieve a realistic blend of practical in-camera effects with CG and digital compositing.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. Hosted on Acast. We are back with a new episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. For this episode, we've teamed up with Matt from Entertainment Talk, and my 'World Of The Last Of Us' podcast co-host, as we're chatting with John Paino, the production designer on HBO's fantastic adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game 'The Last of Us'.The Last of Us' takes place 20 years after modern civilization's destruction. Joel (Pedro Pascal – ‘The Mandalorian'), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey – ‘Game Of Thrones'), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.John Paino is a highly experienced production designer, having previously worked on tv shows such as 'The Leftovers', 'Sharp Objects', 'Big Little Lies', 'The Morning Show', and 'The Shrink Nextdoor', along with films such as 'Dallas Buyers Club' and 'Margin Call'. However, 'The Last Of Us' presented him with a whole new set of extraordinary challenges. From houses and restaurants to malls and infrastructure, John was tasked with recreating dozens of post-apocalyptic sets completely from scratch. By relying on physical structures instead of visual effects, John managed to fully immerse actors and viewers into the world of the fan-favourite game.I think it's fair to say, John's work has paid off. The reaction to the series has been both a critical and rating success on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK, it was the biggest audience ever for a first-series US drama finale on Sky. In the US, the audience has grown week-on-week, with the finale up a staggering 74% on the premiere episode. This series also has been praised by critics and fans across the board.'The Last Of Us' Season 1 can be found via Sky On Demand and the NOW streaming service in the UK, and on HBO Max in the USA. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you'll be notified when they get a UK premiere date. We are back with new episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. This week I'm chatting with Art Codron, the VFX supervisor for FuseFX on the third season of Netflix's 'Outer Banks'.Art Codron is a three-time Emmy Award winner, who has worked on shows such as ‘Ozark', ‘Prison Break', and 'The Morning Show', along with his other current show, ‘The Rookie'. Whilst these days he tends to lean more into shows with more “invisible effects”, he began his VFX career working on the 'Star Trek' franchise, beginning on ‘The Next Generation' and ‘Deep Space Nine', then becoming a VFX supervisor on ‘Voyager' and ‘Enterprise'.‘Outer Banks' is a wonderfully fun action-adventure series which follows teen John B (Chase Stokes), who enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father's disappearance. The series also stars Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Carlacia Grant (Cleo) and Charles Esten (Ward Cameron) with Cullen Moss (Shoupe), Julia Antonelli (Wheezie Cameron), Caroline Arapoglou (Rose Cameron), E. Roger Mitchell (Heyward), Charles Halford (Big John), Elizabeth Mitchell (Limbrey), and Andy McQueen (Carlos Singh). The most recent third season saw the gang chase the gold to the Caribbean and South American, which created some interesting challenges for the VFX team. These included a plane crash into the ocean and a shot of a whale, which involved complex water simulations and physics. They also had to create the gold-laden caves of El Dorado, enhancing the shots with composition and CG, along with painting out all manner of production equipment.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. In this episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast, I'm chatting Steffan Falesitch, Supervising Sound Editor on the critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning FX series 'What We Do in the Shadows'.From the minds of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, 'What We Do in the Shadows' is a mockumentary comedy horror which takes a look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires, who've lived together for over 100 years, on Staten Island.Steffan, along with the rest of the sound team, has been nominated for the Outstanding Sound Editing in a Comedy or Drama Emmy this year for the season three episode "The Escape". The show also has nominations for "Outstanding Comedy", "Outstanding Writing", "Costumes", "Sound Mixing", and "Stunts" this year too.Alongside WWDITS, Steffan has worked on a host of shows from 'The Shrink Next Door' and 'Our Flag Means Death' to 'The Affair' and 'The L Word: Generation Q'. However, the series we are mainly talking to him about today is 'What We Do in the Shadows'.On a side-note, 'What We Do in the Shadows' has previously aired on the BBC in the UK, however, now that their deal with FX has ended, it is possible the 4th season may move straight to Disney+. In this episode I'm chatting with Ian Grech BFE, editor of the film '14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible', which is now available to watch on Netflix. With over 15 years of experience in Post-Production, Ian is an extremely sought-after Editor and Colourist. His work has been recognised by BAFTA, The Royal Television Society and The Primetime Emmy Awards, and has worked on projects such as 'Top Gear', along with a multitude of sports-related projects such as 'Adam Hills: Take His Legs', 'Beyond Human', and 'UEFA Champions League'.His latest work, '14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible', follows the fearless Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja aka "Nims", as he embarks on "Project Possible", a seemingly impossible quest to summit all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in seven months. It was Ian's job to elaborate on the character of Nims to show the audience what makes him the man that he is and what his motivations were for completing such a life-threatening task.Throughout the editing process, Ian collaborated closely with director Torquil Jones to complete the challenging task of showcasing the trials and tribulations of each peak, whilst piecing together the hundreds of hours of footage in a way that was both exciting and true to the story.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. Sharing a podcast blooper for your amusement. Podcasting can be fun, hard work but it can also be silly.I wanted to do something fun. Life is too serious at times and we can all use a giggle or two. Besides, I love to laugh. It's how I connect to people and how I know I am on the right track. When I am laughing and giggling, all is good. This episode is where I share a few podcast bloopers. Behind the scenes so to speak. Enjoy the humorous side of podcasting. The first one is me trying to get my podcast started with my traditional "Welcome everybody to the One Minute of Mindfulness Podcast. I'm Cheryl Reynolds, your host…."It wasn't happening. LOLThe second one was me trying to do a Video Podcast. Ummm… not working all that well. I decided to do the podcast and a live video every week. Maybe I will marry them later, but for now, they are separated. The third blooper is me recording and my office manager bailey running through paperwork that I put on the floor because it wouldn't fit on the desk with all of the podcast pillows. Bailey is one of my cats, and for the most part, he just hangs on the desk while I podcast, but today he wanted to play when I wanted to podcast. The last one is when I am in my mom's closet podcasting. My house is very echoey-as you can probably tell from a few episodes, so I used her closet a few times. The sound quality is awesome in there but my butt starts to hurt and my feet always fall asleep ( sitting on the floor at my age holds a few challenges) Anyhoo, it was a long day and I got laughing. If you like these blooper episodes, let me know and I will do more of them. In the meantime...“Laugh at yourself-then you'll know at least one person finds you funny.” Take a deep breath in and exhaleSo, before I go, listen closely and remember this ONE one thing. Your future is a thought, your past has passed, but your now is always here. Be mindful-one minute at a time.Hugs, Cheryl Sponsors & Links Mentioned:One Minute of Mindfulness.com Cheryl J Reynolds Coaching Have a busy mind? In episode 8 of the GSGEDM Behind-The-Scenes podcast, the GSGEDM Team appreciates Detroit for its local community and its international reach as a hub for dance music. Movement Festival has been the foundation of techno tourism in Detroit, since its beginnings as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2001. It is also the foundation of the GSGEDM film - shooting began there in 2011 to tell The Story of Detroit Techno. Movement encourages the Memorial Day Weekend pilgrimage that techno fans all over the world take to Detroit to get a taste of its one-of-a-kind dance music scene. It is that time of year again, and the team is longing for the techno-induced, party-packed weekend that makes for a magical time in Detroit. In honor of this, please come along on a Movement “meditation”, reminiscing with stories and memories from members of the GSGEDM team (David Grandison & Reggie Dokes), as well as Belgium's DJ Red D, Detroit journalist Gary Graff, and Fusicology's Asya Shein.-Support the independent filmmaking process and get yourself some GSGEDM merch! http://gsgedm.com/shop-Stay updated with GSGEDM on Instagram and Facebook!https://www.instagram.com/GodSaidGiveEmDrumMachines/https://www.facebook.com/GodSaidGiveEmDrumMachines/-Visit Hart Plaza and watch a DEMF recap video on MusicOrigins.orghttps://www.musicorigins.org/item/the-detroit-electronic-music-festival/-Learn more about topics covered in the film and Detroit culture in the Detroit Techno 101https://www.musicorigins.org/detroit-techno-101/ -Get connected with Detroit music journalist Gary Graff:https://twitter.com/GraffonMusic-Check out DJ Red D:https://www.facebook.com/djreddbelgiumwww.instagram.com/djreddbelgiumofficial-Learn more about Asya Shein:https://asyashein.com/bio/Check out Fusicology:https://www.fusicology.com/-Learn more about Movement:https://www.movement.us/https://twitch.tv/paxahau-Check out The Music Origins Project: https://www.musicorigins.org/technomecca/- Check out Reggie Doke's album i.heard.Love:https://reggiedokes.bandcamp.com/album/i-heard-love-Support Black Lives Matter Detroit:https://www.blmdetroit.com/-Support Detroit Will Breathe:https://detroitwillbreathe.info/-Support Black Lives Matter:https://blacklivesmatter.com/-Be sure to check out Output, to make all your music-making and sound designing dreams come true!https://output.com/

Welcome to Episode 41 of the Mommy Daddy Time Podcast!!!In this episode, we have a conversation about sex that no one else is having. We brought in a very special guest this week. Caitlin Zick and her husband cole are the leaders of the Moral Revolution Podcast and ministry based in Redding California. Moral Revolution is a company of radicals helping to define healthy sexuality.A lot of marriages struggle with sex. In fact, it's one of the top 3 reasons marriages fail! The struggle with sex is not limited to certain groups, ages, or even past experiences. It's something that ALL couples have to work on and be intentional within their marriage. The worst part is, more often than not, the one place that should be talking about sex (the church) is often silent or vague. So what happens when couples are left without answers to the real questions they have about sex? What happens when couples don't have people they can turn to and openly talk about their sex issues? Well, things don't get better. In fact they often get worse. But, it doesn't have to be this way. The truth is, you don't have to keep struggling alone in your marriage with sex. Cole and Caitlin Zick have an incredible story where they share what sex was like when they first got married. SPOILER ALERT!!! It was not the rolling in the sheets, hot-n-heavy, Hollywood movie kind of honeymoon that often gets portrayed. In fact, it was anything but. Confused, distraught, and feeling defeated they took matters into their own hands and did something that even surprised us! In this episode, you'll finally hear an honest conversation about sex and marriage. + What happens when sex is something you don't enjoy? + Can a couple still be happy without orgasms?+ How does sex change after kids?+ What do we need to change in our sex life in order to have a happy marriage?+ A LOT MORE!!!**WARNING** This episode may not be suitable for all audiences. If you normally listen with young ears, this is an episode you will want to filter through first! You shouldn't have to struggle with sex in your marriage. There is incredible hope out there if you do find yourself struggling with sex in your marriage. This episode will give you hope, healing, encouragement, and laughter. You will know you're not alone and there is a community of people you can turn to for help. We hope you like, subscribe, and share this episode with the people in your life. Welcome to episode 40 of the Mommy Daddy Time Podcast. This week, Kristy sits down and answers questions about what life has been like for her as we've navigated the waters of not having a job for the past 6 months. She also describes what it was like at the moment she found out that Eric was about to lose his job and there was no plan in place for getting a new one. From the practical logistics to the emotional and spiritual responses, Kristy gets very real and very vulnerable as a wife, mom, and Enneagram 8 in this episode. This episode, more than many others, will make you feel like you're sitting down in the kitchen with us for a deep dive into the realities of going without a job, hustling for work, providing for a family, and facing some real fears in identity.
