Go Fast And Winâ„¢ - A Sports Podcast powered by The Sharp Plays
In this episode of the Go Fast and Win Podcast, I discuss public regression from last season and how it has played out so far. We'll cover:
[00:28–03:19] Lions' Week 2 Bounce-Back & Ben Johnson Critique Chris and Mario discuss Detroit's Week 2 win and Ben Johnson's leadership. They debate if Johnson is head-coach material based on early postgame remarks. [03:20–07:12] Quarterback Injuries & Bengals' QB Market Joe Burrow's uncertain status sparks a breakdown of Cincy's options. Oddsmakers' odds on potential replacements include Derek Carr, Jameis Winston, and Carson Wentz. Other injuries to McCarthy and Purdy are also mentioned. [07:13–09:32] Thursday: Dolphins at Bills Buffalo is favored by 12. The hosts break down Miami's inconsistency and Buffalo's ability to dominate both on the ground and through the air. [09:33–10:54] Falcons at Panthers Atlanta is ascending offensively, while Carolina's defense struggles. Leggett's lack of development is a concern despite high draft capital. [10:55–13:55] Bengals at Vikings (Wentz vs Browning) Minnesota starts Carson Wentz, Cincinnati turns to Jake Browning. Wentz is seen as a top-tier backup; the matchup could reshape perceptions of each team's QB decisions. [13:56–16:57] Packers at Browns Green Bay is banged up at WR, while Joe Flacco's days in Cleveland seem numbered. Dylan Gabriel's emergence and Shador Sanders' presence loom. [16:58–19:58] Texans at Jaguars Jacksonville is a slight favorite. Struggles between Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. are noted. Houston's overachieving two years ago may have skewed expectations. [19:59–22:31] Colts at Titans Daniel Jones leads Indy as Cam Ward sparks Tennessee. Tyler Warren shines while Colston Loveland fades in Chicago. Jonathan Taylor's return is impactful. [22:32–24:51] Raiders at Commanders Geno Smith's up-and-down performance is discussed. Raiders' WR depth is a concern. Washington's tackling and defensive strengths may be tested. [24:52–27:14] Rams at Eagles Philadelphia is favored by 3.5. Concerns emerge around the Eagles' lack of offensive explosiveness. Chris and Mario highlight locker-room trash talk following last week's win. [27:15–29:01] Jets at Buccaneers Tampa Bay rides momentum as Baker Mayfield thrives. Emeka Egbuka is underused while Mike Evans remains the focal point. Tough matchup for a shaky Jets team. [29:02–31:24] Steelers at Patriots New England is a slight home underdog. Pittsburgh's offense is underwhelming, and Jalen Warren has yet to prove himself as Najee's replacement. [31:25–33:54] Broncos at Chargers The Chargers are 3-point favorites. Justin Herbert looks sharp, but Harbaugh's identity seems undefined. The Broncos remain average with Bo Nix at the helm. [33:55–36:20] Saints at Seahawks Seattle's strong run game, led by Kenneth Walker, is highlighted. The Saints can't find consistency, and Geno Smith's performance fluctuates. [36:21–38:13] Cardinals at 49ers Brock Purdy might return, but rushing him could cost San Francisco. Mac Jones may continue to hold the fort. Arizona is competitive defensively. [38:14–40:22] Cowboys at Bears The Bears are slight home underdogs. Caleb Williams flashes talent, while the Cowboys' defense draws criticism. Chicago needs to limit big plays to stay competitive. [40:23–42:17] Chiefs at Giants Kansas City looks to avoid an 0-3 start. Social media jabs and postgame trash talk are noted. Chris and Mario call out KC's overconfidence after recent losses. [42:18–45:02] Monday: Lions at Ravens The marquee game of the week. Baltimore is favored by 5. Chris and Mario preview key matchups, including Detroit's defensive front vs. Lamar Jackson and a fired-up Ravens run game.
Detroit Lions Got Game! The Detroit Lions handled business in their home opener at Ford Field against the Chicago Bears and their new head coach Ben Johnson - Detroit's former offensive architect turned rival. On today's show, we unpack the key swing moments from Bears week, then pivot to a massive NFL spotlight game: a Monday night trip to face the Baltimore Ravens in prime time. Expect a fast, detail-rich breakdown built for fans on YouTube, Spotify, and all of your favorite podcast aggregators. Beating Ben Johnson meant beating your old tendencies. Detroit leaned into a newly formed rivalry to stay a step ahead of Chicago's rules while protecting their own core identity - physical runs to set up in-breakers for Amon-Ra St. Brown, seam conflict for Sam LaPorta, and manufactured space touches for Jahmyr Gibbs. We highlight cleaner operation in the red zone, plus a quieter penalty sheet that kept Jared Goff in rhythm - crucial after Week 1's stalls. Just as important: Detroit's defense closed space on perimeter RPOs and tackled through contact, a must versus Johnson's motion-heavy sequencing now that he's officially in charge at Halas Hall. Bears Takeaways: Countering Ben Johnson, Reasserting Identity Monday Night Football Preview: Lions at Ravens - Edges, Matchups, Levers Baltimore's star power is real - Lamar Jackson piloting an attack with Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, and DeAndre Hopkins - but early tape shows pass-protection stress (five sacks in two weeks) that Detroit can leverage with line games and disciplined rush lanes. Contain first, squeeze second; win the edges without losing quarterback depth. Meanwhile, Lions DBs must win while the second level throttles Henry on runs. Oddsmakers have the Baltimore Ravens as home favorites on Monday Night Football - no surprise in that building. Kick is set for 8:15 p.m. ET from M&T Bank Stadium (ESPN/ABC), and Detroit's path is clear: own first down, steal a possession (fourth-down or takeaway), and turn green-zone trips into sevens. Books are leaning Ravens straight-up while noting Detroit's strong ATS profile the last two-plus seasons. Two news nuggets to monitor as we near kickoff: Baltimore's edge rotation has been nicked (Kyle Van Noy's status bears watching), and Chris and Jeff spent a chunk of the pod detailing rush-lane integrity to keep Lamar in phase. If that edge room is light, Goff's play-action and quick-game to St. Brown/LaPorta can stress Baltimore's single-high looks and force lighter boxes for Gibbs. If Detroit replicates the Bears template - clean pre-snap, efficient on early downs, violent tackling - and layers it with a spy/squeeze plan for Jackson, the NFC North leaders can flip the Monday-night script in Baltimore. Miami vs. Buffalo Betting Odds Opener: Buffalo -8.5, Total 48.5 Best available lines: Buffalo -12 +100, Miami +12.5 -108 Best totals: OVER 49.5 -110, UNDER 49.5 -104 Shopping for the best line is one of the most important betting strategies you can apply. Betting Splits Side: 71% of bets, 58% of money on Buffalo Bills Total: 83% of tickets on UNDER, but only 46% of cash—implying sharp money is on the OVER This is a classic “pros vs. Joes” split—public bettors pounding one side while sharp money pushes the other. Proven Super Systems Joe Duffy's edge comes from decades of data-driven betting systems. Here's how they apply to Dolphins vs. Bills: Regression to the mean: Teams covering terribly (-8.5 PPG or worse ATS margin) bounce back. Record: 488-369-27. Favors Dolphins. Undefeated vs. winless in Week 3 or later (laying ≥3): 67-45-3 ATS. Favors Bills. Favorites of 10.5+ on short week: 23-6-1 (79.3%), winning by an average score of 29.6-11. Favors Bills. He's gone under in 4 of his last 5 at home, averaging 176.6 yards. Joe Duffy's Official Free Pick Despite line movement and conflicting angles, the UNDER is the official betting podcast pick. Historical systems have crushed this spot, and the numbers line up once again. Final Thoughts If you like free picks, deep-dive betting splits, and super systems that actually win, you'll love the Sports Betting Podcast.
Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk NBA offseason moves and much more. The NBA offseason has been anything but quiet, with retirements, betting controversies, and opening night matchups fueling headlines. John Wall officially retired after an injury-filled career that began with promise in Washington, while Derrick Rose will have his No. 1 jersey retired by the Chicago Bulls, honoring his MVP peak before injuries changed his trajectory. Off-court drama also made waves as Malik Beasley was cleared in a federal gambling investigation, reopening his free agency with interest from the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks. The case highlighted growing concerns over NBA betting integrity, with discussions about limiting unders on fringe players after scandals involving Jonte Porter. Opening night brings high drama. The Oklahoma City Thunder, fresh off their championship, host the Houston Rockets, who now feature Kevin Durant in a stunning return to OKC. Oddsmakers list the Thunder as 6.5-point favorites, backed by continuity, elite net rating, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's MVP form. Analysts expect Durant and Jalen Green to thrive in Houston but caution that defensive chemistry will take time after trading away Dillon Brooks. The second marquee game pits the Golden State Warriors against the Los Angeles Lakers. Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler headline a Warriors roster built on stability, while the Lakers counter with Luka Doncic alongside LeBron James at age 41. Experts argue Golden State is undervalued, pointing to their cohesion and defensive strength compared to the Lakers' questionable fit and reliance on Luka's offense. Debate then shifted to overrated and underrated stars entering the 2025–26 season. Anthony Edwards, despite highlight dunks and hype, was criticized for inconsistency, limited playmaking, and average defense in key playoff series. Trae Young's efficiency, turnovers, and defensive liability made him another overrated pick, while LeBron James was called statistically brilliant yet less impactful on winning at this stage of his career. Ja Morant's injuries and lack of reliable shooting lowered his stock, and even fan-favorite Alex Caruso was labeled overrated due to inflated advanced metrics. On the underrated side, Joel Embiid was deemed far too low on rankings despite injury concerns, still a dominant force when healthy. Orlando's Franz Wagner was praised for versatility, scoring, and leadership alongside Paolo Banchero, positioning him as a rising top-15 talent. Jalen Williams of the Thunder was highlighted as a two-way star capable of being more than a Robin, while Bam Adebayo's defense and potential offensive leap could transform Miami. Even Steph Curry, though widely respected, was argued to remain underrated for the way he elevates teammates. The podcast closed with betting insights. The Los Angeles Clippers were recommended at -8 over the rebuilding Utah Jazz, given depth, continuity, and elite defense led by Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Another best bet circled the Toronto Raptors +6 against the Atlanta Hawks, citing Brandon Ingram's addition, improved depth, and Atlanta's poor record as home favorites. As the 2025–26 season approaches, the NBA's mix of star power, betting intrigue, and opening-night storylines ensures drama on and off the court. From Durant's OKC return to debates over Edwards, Young, and Embiid, fans and bettors alike have plenty to watch. The association never sleeps, and this season promises to be another defining chapter. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The first depth chart of the 2025 season came out this week for the New Orleans Saints, and the word “or” showed up quite a bit, especially at the quarterback position. Will we find out more from watching the first preseason game Sunday vs. the Los Angeles Chargers? Also, the team will be spending 10 days practicing in Irvine, Calif., where it will be (slightly) cooler. Hopefully, that will allow them to get more done and get some of those aforementioned questions answered. Jim Derry tries to beat Coach Kellen Moore to the punch with Wednesday's guest, FOX-8's Garland Gillen, on the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 399) presented by Evangeline Securities. The duo also will talk a little LSU and Tulane, and Gabe Henderson has thoughts on Shedeur Sanders being named the starter for Cleveland's first preseason game and the NFL making a deal with ESPN. We also preview show No. 400 with Jim Henderson.

[32:02–34:00] Jaguars Draft Heavy, Light on Free Agency Jacksonville makes a splash by drafting Travis Hunter. Free agent moves are minimal. They're set at 7.5 wins. [34:01–36:13] Titans Draft Cam Ward, Little Else Tennessee drafts QB Cam Ward first overall, adds Van Jefferson and Kevin Zeitler. Expectations are low with a 5.5 win line. Oddsmakers really like Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov to win their respective title fights this weekend at UFC 311. Maybe that's understandable since, along with ya bois Khabib and Usman, the former students of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov are a combined *checks notes* 91-1 in professional MMA fights. That's pretty good! Hold on, though. Arman Tsarukyan (who fights Makhachev for the lightweight title) and Merab Dvalishvili (who defends HIS men's bantamweight title against Umar) are also both pretty good! So, what gives? Also, uh, we sure this shit is gonna go down at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, UFC? Because the whole shit down there in that region is on fire. Clemson heads to Austin, Texas to play Texas on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 3 Central, a game shown on TNT/Max. Oddsmakers favor has Texas by 11 with an over-under of 51.5 as of Dec. 8. Our composite computer model favors Texas by 12 1/2. Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview the game. Topics include: Clemson has a veteran, balanced offense with terrific players in quarterback Cade Klubnik and running back Phil Mafah. Texas's defense is loaded with play-makers like Anthony Hill, former Clemson safety Andrew Mukuba, Jahdae Barron, Barryn Sorrell, Trey Moore, Colin Simmons and others. Texas has elite guys on offense, including two quarterbacks in Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, a talented receiving corps paced by tight end Gunnar Helm and running back Tre Wisner. But the Longhorns were inconsistent offensively thanks to turnovers and a running game that was hit-or-miss (and ran for just 1.1 yards per carry in the loss to Georgia). Neither team is good on special teams. Tennessee heads to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State in a first-round College Football Playoff matchup on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 Central in a game shown on ABC and ESPN. Oddsmakers favor Ohio State by 7 1/2 with an over-under of 47 as of Dec. 8. Our composite computer model favors Ohio State by 7. Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview the game and offer predictions. Topics include: Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson is an All-American candidate, but more than just that, was as consistent as a player can be this season. Volunteers' quarterback Nico Iamaleava is talented and seemed to get better with experience as the season progressed. Ohio State's defense is loaded with stars, including defensive backs Caleb Downs and Lathan Ramson. Ohio State has a veteran quarterback in Will Howard and a terrific rushing duo in TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, as well as talented receivers Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith. The Vols' defense is led by defensive end James Pearce Jr. and cornerback Jermod McCoy, but the Vols have plenty of beef on the line in Omari Thomas, Omarr Norman-Lott and others. Is home field an advantage or potentially a disadvantage for embattled Ohio State coach Ryan Day, who's come under fire for losing to Michigan? Georgia and Texas square off in the SEC football championship game, a rematch that Georgia won earlier this year. Oddsmakers favor Texas by 2 1/2 (as does our composite computer model) with an over-under of 49, making for an implied final score of Texas 26, Georgia 23. Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview the game. Topics include: Georgia's Carson Beck seems to be past his mid-season interception problems, but his receiving corps has also dropped a ton of balls. Texas's defense may be the best in the country, and perhaps the best unit in the SEC on either side. Georgia's athletes can really get after Texas, but Kelvin Banks Jr. gives Texas a supreme blind-side protector. Texas has the best quarterback room in the country between Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, and Tre Wisner was terrific against Texas A&M, but the Longhorns have been inconsistent on offense at times. Oklahoma travels to LSU for a game that may be seen at 6 Central on ESPN this Saturday. Oddsmakers favor LSU by 6 with an over-under of 47, making for an implied final score of LSU 27, Oklahoma 21. Our computer composite model favors LSU by 3 1/2. Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview the matchup. Topics include: Oklahoma effectively utilized Jackson Arnold more in the run game and used that to pull a stunning upset of Alabama last week. The Sooners found a new threat in Xavier Robinson at running back. OU's receiving corps is still banged up. LSU's passing attack of Garrett Nussmeier, Kyren Lacy, Aaron Anderson and Mason Taylor is one of the country's best. The Tigers used Josh Williams effectively in spots in last week's win over Vanderbilt. LSU's front seven of Whit Weeks and company played respectably last week after a rough stretch of games prior to that. Oklahoma's front seven vs. LSU's offensive line, which has a pair of first-round tackles, is a matchup to watch. Arkansas travels to Missouri on Saturday for a game that can be seen at 2:30 Central on the SEC Network. Oddsmakers favors Missouri by 3 1/2 with an over-under of 54 1/2, making for an implied final score of Missouri 29, Arkansas 26. Our composite computer model favors Missouri by 6. Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview the game. Topics include: Missouri, behind quarterback Brady Cook, has continued to play good football even with its playoff hopes gone. The Tigers' Luther Burden is a game-changing player and comes off one of his best performances of the season. Marcus Carroll and Nate Noel provide a versatile running game that Arkansas will need to contain. Arkansas's Taylen Green has been the key to the Razorbacks' offense. He's capable of a huge performance any week. The Razorbacks have a multi-faceted running game that includes Green, Ja'Quinden Jackson and Rashad Dubinion (who led the way last week with 112 rushing yards in the win vs. Louisiana Tech). Missouri will need to watch out for Andrew Armstrong, one of the most consistent pass-catchers in the SEC. #TITANS #TITANUP #COMMANDERS #WASHINGTON Fresh off a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Commanders are looking to snap their three-game skid on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee pulled off a massive upset in Week 12, knocking off CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans to pick up its third win of the season, and first with Will Levis under center for the entire game. Just three weeks ago, the Commanders were in the lead in the NFC East, but they've dropped three games in a row to fall to 7-5 and are now in danger of missing the playoffs in the NFC. While the Titans aren't a great team, they do have a tough defense that ranks third in the NFL in yards per play allowed and 12th in EPA/Play. Oddsmakers have the Commanders set as 5.5-point favorites in this game, but can they cover the spread at home and snap their losing streak? Learn more about your ad choices. Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have a chance to offset a loss to Kentucky from earlier this season when the Rebels face Georgia on Saturday. Oddsmakers put this game on a razor's edge, and the Bulldogs suddenly look vulnerable. And if Ole Miss pulls it off, then what? The Rebels would re-enter the playoff picture and crowd the bubble, and Kiffin would remain a top choice for ravenous Florida fans who are ready to throw overboard floundering coach Billy Napier. On today's episode, hosts Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams examine this critical moment for Kiffin and Ole Miss. They discuss whether Florida could seriously pursue Kiffin if Ole Miss makes the playoff, and they weigh the candidacy of Indiana's Curt Cignetti for Florida. Also in this episode, a conversation on Alabama at LSU: Who needs this game more, Kalen DeBoer, or Brian Kelly? Plus, a surprising hot-seat candidate has emerged in recent weeks. Finally, Week 11 picks against the spread!

Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview Florida vs. Miami in their opening game of the 2024 college football season and share their predictions for the matchup at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. Both Florida's Billy Napier and Miami's Mario Cristobal need to win this one badly. Miami added one of the best players in the transfer portal in Washington State transfer quarterback Cam Ward. The Hurricanes have a loaded receiving room that includes Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George. Miami returns four of five starters on its offensive line. Miami's defensive front seven appears loaded, with Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year Rueben Bain returning at end, and big-play linebacker Francisco Mauigoa. Florida has a solid offense, led by underrated quarterback Graham Mertz, running back Montrell Johnson Jr., and receiver Eugene Wilson III. The Gators have an experienced offensive line led by Austin Barber. Florida added defensive line depth in the portal with Joey Slackman (Penn) and George Gumbs (Northern Illinois) that could come in handy on a hot, humid afternoon. Florida's reloaded secondary features returnees Jason Marshall and Jordan Castell, and was also bolstered with the additions of Asa Turner (Washington), DJ Douglas (Tulane) and Trikweze Bridges (Oregon). Oddsmakers have Miami favored by about two points; computers we watch have it as a toss-up. Will Florida's home-field advantage in The Swamp make the difference here? The CHGO Bulls crew discuss the Vegas odds for the Chicago Bulls win total in the 2024-25 season being set at 30.5 wins. Is this a fairly accurate projection? How do the Bulls stack up with this over/under compared to some of the other young and rebuilding teams in the NBA? If the Bulls flirt with above 30 wins, how much will it jeopardize the need to keep their top-10 protected pick in the 2025 NBA Draft? Matt, Big Dave and Will also react to Matas Buzelis not making All Summer League First or Second Team.
