Wrestling and youth soccer tournaments, they go together just like amphetamine and soma's and oh man do the boys want to talk about both!!! This week Doug and Bill take on Konosuke Takeshita, ghosts, dick punches, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, Eddie Kingston, Best Friends, New Era Pro Wrestling's Red, White, & Bruised, FTR, Claudio's Finishers, Masha Slamovich, CYN, the use of deadly weapons during a wrestling match, and so much more! Rest In Power Cuda. Here are a couple of questions for you after listening: What is your favorite mall food court restaurant? Can a tag team be the number one overall in the PWI Top 500? What's up with Bill's infatuation with gloves? My answers: I'm an East Coast Pizza person myself. No, rules are rules and once they are broken society will descend into madness and absolute demonic rule. Seriously, he has a lot of single gloves just kind of laying around his “office”. Does the funk from last week still permeate into this one? Nah, the boys are their joyous, rambunctious selves again! HUZZAH! Doug had his birthday so he is 40 now, and we don't have to listen to Bill stammer through the most basic of intros. In this episode the boys talk about Bill's mis-adventures at work, the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament, Jeff Hardy, their Pro Kota Ibushi situation, WWE Wrestlemania Backlash, Bill's hot take on the MCU, NJPW's Capital Collision, AEW, and of course Doug's wanting to make kisses with certain fans in the crowd. All this and more, for FREE?! You gots to be shitting me! This week's episode is brought to you by the Feast Sandwich Company of Willicockick Rhode Island, “Eat a sandwich in the hottest parking lot in all of New England!” Here are a couple of questions for you after listening: How long do you think until Bill snaps and puts a hit on Cuda? Honestly, did you know about the last of the NXT releases? What will it take for Doug to actually watch wrestling this week? My answers: Maybe a month from what I'm hearing under the floorboards. I did because I'm the one constantly feeding Bill notes during recording, he seriously has no fucking clue what is going on. I'm really not sure, I'm more really on the edge of my seat about what he thought about Antman and Wasp 2! As time continues to move forward, so does age. With age comes cynicism, and disdain. Doug turns another year older next week and it shows on this week's episode. Can he match Bill's disdain for the world? No, not sure anyone can do that. Despite their moods, the boys did get together and put out a show for your enjoyment (?). This week they cover AEW, WON ratings, WWE Live Shows, 5 star Chuck Taylor, The Public Enemy, Colt Cabana, Zoo adventures, dog toys, WWE Backlash, Kevin Nash's move set, and Doug's reading comprehension skills. HOLY COW THAT'S A WHOLE LOTTA SHOW! Here are a couple of questions for you after listening: Who is the Joker in the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament? Do you find it weird that they didn't have any hunk ratings this week? Are you tired? My answers: The Joker is Joker Sting, there is no other acceptable answer. It is a little weird, it really seemed like they were going to throw that down our throats until we just accepted it. Always, but if I stop working Bill brings out the terror tarp. It's post Wrestlemania, and Doug is definitely a sleepy, sleepy boy. He barely made it through the recording let alone the week! However, he mustered up enough bravado to sink his teeth into wrestle talk with podcast lifemate Bill. Of course the boys go over Wrestlemania, Wrestlemania weekend, and AEW. But did you know they cover a whole lot more? Well they certainly do! They also talk about Doug's work, Cool Runnings, Samoa Joe, Culver's Chicken Sandwiches, The Art of Wrestling, Roman REIGNS' of terror, Blake Christian,, FTR,post workout meals, and of course Cody Rhodes. My answers: My sister's birthday is March 13th, I think I missed it. Bill tells me we don't celebrate birthdays in the domicile. This week's text is about the final walk in Death Stranding, the 2019 game by Kojima Productions. Back in November, I wrote a spoiler-free review that convinced a tonne of you to play it. Somebody even bought a whole PS4 off the back of that text. I return to the game now to write about its ending and to think about how emotion is achieved through narrative structure, character development, song, gameplay and loss of control. This text is chunky. I have not held back in any way. It took weeks to put together and it is the longest thing I have written in a very long time. But I dunno, it feels warranted. Again, someone bought a PS4! I get an email every other week off strangers thanking me for introducing them to the game! I am becoming a Death Stranding academic. Put me on Mastermind, I'm ready. The written version of this text is available on thewhitepube.com/death-stranding-final-walk but this audio recording is fun because it features clips from BB's Theme, a song by Ludvig Forssell, performed by Jenny Plant, (c) Sony Entertainment. Enjoy!
Composer extraordinaire Ludvig Forssell joins us this week to talk about his work on Metal Gear Solid V, P.T., and the upcoming Death Stranding Director's Cut. Recorded on June 14, 2021.
Ludvig Forssell is the featured guest on this Score to Screen podcast. The Death Stranding composer recalls his efforts experimenting with everyday household objects to create alien-like sounds which became the backbone of the eerie score. From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima, comes a genre-defying open world action adventure for PS4, starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner. In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it's up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation. Ludvig Forssell is a Swedish composer, songwriter, and voice actor, as well as an audio director at Kojima Productions. For the Metal Gear series, he composed the soundtracks for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Forssell also wrote the lyrics for "Sins of the Father," performed by Donna Burke and “Quiet's Theme,” performed by Stefanie Joosten. As an actor, he provided the voices of minor characters and the likeness for the Shago Platoon commander. The Score to Screen podcast series is produced and hosted by Crossover Media's Max Horowitz.
[ARCHIVE] This episode has a short chat about some Star Wars movies to start things off, and then we take a deep dive into Death Stranding, and analyze the reason for its poor reception among some high-profile games websites. As always, we also read some fan mail and talk about the games coming up next week. Music in this episode is from the Death Stranding Original Score composed by Ludvig Forssell. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

It's still technically 2019 in California, which means this isn't late! And by this, of course, I mean the 2019 Rebel FM Game Music Spectacular, where we reminisce and listen to our favorite video game tracks from the entire year (and occasionally from previous years ... stupid early access). Thanks to all our listeners for another year of video games, off topic digressions, and discussion of poop. And remember to toss a coin to your local guild representative. Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding has been one of the most anticipated games in recent years. I caught up with composer and audio director Ludvig Forssell while he was in Los Angeles for The Game Awards, and he told me that it's exciting to finally be able to share what he's been working on for four years. The game is set in a not-too-distant post-apocalyptic future, filled with terrifying creatures. The player follows Sam Porter Bridges, who is tasked with a crosscountry journey to reunite the far-flung cities across America. Ludvig's soundtrack mixes alien sounds sampled from everyday items, mixed with synths and the human sounds of live strings and voice. Ludvig built the sound library from samples he and co-composer Joel Corelitz gathered at a fun shopping trip to Home Depot. He says the most surprising sounds they got came from small items, like a paint roller, that they were able to turn into epically huge sounds that add a massive scale to the instrumentals. Everything Hideo Kojima

Week in Geek: Andrew plays Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India while Dan watches Ex Machina. Cheap Games: With Andrew's sideways foray into the normally "AAA" Assassin's Creed franchise being through the door of a $10 downloadable game, Dan and Andrew discuss the recent widening of prices for games––both video and tabletop––and the implications on not only the content but the culture it feeds. Flash in the Pan/The Doctor is Out: In unrelated but nearly simultaneous announcements, CBS/CW and BBC announced they are pulling their respective content from the media hubs of Netflix and Hulu, presumably because they are going to launch their own premium streaming services. SPOILER WARNING: Details from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and other video games are discussed in this episode and can be considered spoilers. Keep that in mind before you proceed. Week in Geek: Andrew plays Dragon Quest for iOS while Dan watches Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown on Blu-Ray. Games With Feels: Based on a specific experience Andrew had while playing through Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Dan and Andrew discuss video games that have created in them strong emotional responses based on more than just a cutscene and plot point, but when actually playing the game elicits emotional reactions and why that is an important development of the medium. The article about Tomb Raider Dan mentions can be found at knowngriefers.com. A Sad Game About Nuclear Disarmament: Andrew and Dan discuss a hidden cutscene found in the files of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's (that were confirmed by Konami) that will only play if, in the online portion of the game, players decide to lay down their nuclear weapons and employ a digital peace. Based around this Ars Technica article by Kyle Orland, this seems to be the culmination of Hideo Kojima's goals with the Metal Gear Solid series.
