Responsibilities that Royal Personages Bear. The host for this show is George Casen. This is a movie somewhat based on the life of Ka`iulani, a niece of King David Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani, who was in line to be Queen of the Kingdom of Hawai`i. It relates that she lived during turbulent times, so after her mother Likelike died, her father Archibald Cleghorn sent her to England for her own safety and to prepare her scholastically for the role she was meant to assume on the world stage. Cataclysmic events intervened with a coup d'etat that overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy. At a tender age, she stepped up to the plate to try to restore the sovereignty of her island nation. The movie relates how her British accent, New York fashion sense and Hawaiian heart so impressed the members of the US Congress that they were ready to vote to restore the sovereignty of Hawai`i until an American battleship was bombed in Havana Harbor, instigating the Spanish-American War.The ThinkTech YouTube Playlist for this show is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQpkwcNJny6ndGTtVp_AGrEMiKTnOj4pzPlease visit our ThinkTech website at https://thinktechhawaii.com and see our Think Tech Advisories at https://thinktechadvisories.blogspot.com.
If you didn't already know, Super Gus is a HUGE Sci-Fi fan. So when he came to me very excited after watching a movie starring Ethan Hawke as "The Barkeep" and Sarah Snook as "The Unmarried Mother" based on the 1959 short story "—All You Zombies—" by Robert A. Heinlein, he didn't have to ask me twice to talk about it on Complete Disarray. IMDB describes it as follows "For his final assignment, a top temporal agent must pursue the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time. The chase turns into a unique, surprising and mind-bending exploration of love, fate, identity and time travel taboos." Confused yet? Don't worry. You will be. Sometimes, a good movie comes out and you find out that it came from a book! Sometimes it goes an entire other way – where you see a movie and you wonder what kind or source material could have birthed such madness… or the worst of the worst… you love the book, and the movie you get doesn’t even come close to the experience you had with words on paper. Those are the ones we’re talking about today – movies that nobody would mind if we got a re-try on. Movies that just didn’t do any of their words justice and the things we love and hate about them. Before we start, we would like to tell you to check out our friends at Quixotic Games brand new Kickstarter for the CORE WORLDS sequel and its expansion. Garrett and Dan discuss their Top 10 Movie Movies of 2015, complete with a bevy of caveats, honorable mentions, and disappointments. 2015 was a great year for movies - we had movies about hope, gender dynamics, communication, and punching. We had a banner year for women in film. And we had a Star War. It was a real struggle for the boys to whittle their lists down to 10, and hopefully some of their choices will surprise you. Check out Garrett and Dan's lists on Letterboxd, and don't forget to head to twitter and support #ConsiderChicory this awards season. See ya next year!
