Bible Reading: Romans 5:3-5; Galatians 5:22-25"You take the sword, Leo, and be ready when I storm the castle," Javier instructed as he slipped on his dragon mask. His little brother nodded, put on his knight helmet, and paced back and forth in front of the tent.Javier ran off and disappeared from Leo's view, crouching behind a bush. Then he crawled back to the tent and quietly entered it from the back, unnoticed by Knight Leo."RAAAAAAWR!" Javier bellowed. "This is my castle now! Flames! Run for your life, knight!" He continued to yell as loud as he could as he ran at his brother.Leo threw his helmet down and dropped his sword. "That's not fair!" he exclaimed. "You came from behind. I wasn't ready for you!"Javier ripped off his mask. "Oh, come on, Leo! Knights don't throw their helmets down and whine. I hate playing with you, you always wreck everything!""Whoa, you are a fiery dragon," Mom said as she came over at the yelling. "Calm down, Javier. Don't treat Leo that way.""But he does this every time! When we played astronauts and the aliens came, he threw a fit. When we played superheroes and the villain caught him, he started crying. Superheroes don't cry, Mom!""I know, Javier," Mom said. "Leo just has some trouble staying in character." She turned to Leo. "Javier has a point, Leo. When you're playing pretend, it's more fun if everyone stays in character." She turned back to Javier. "But you're also acting out of character when you talk to Leo like that." "But he makes me so mad!" said Javier."All the more reason to stay in character," said Mom. "It's easy to be kind when everything goes smoothly. It's when things don't go our way that we need to remember who we are as followers of Jesus. He defines our true character. He has freed us from sin and given us the Holy Spirit, who lives in us and is helping us become more like Jesus. Remember that the next time you're tempted to do something wrong--like lash out at Leo in anger. Jesus wants us to love others the way He loves us."Javier looked at his brother. "Sorry, Leo," he said. "I didn't mean to be such a dragon." –Kelly BakshiHow About You?Do you ever act out of character? Do you have moments when you treat others poorly or do things you know are wrong? If you're a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit in you so that you can show other people the good, gentle, and gracious character of Jesus. That's who you are--a forgiven child of God who is becoming more like Jesus every day. Bible Reading: Matthew 6:1-4"Who would like to take this form to the principal for me?" asked Mrs. Li. "It's very important, and he's waiting for it." Flynn raised his hand high for his teacher to see. "Flynn, you may go," she said.Flynn proudly walked to the principal's office with the form in his hand. But when he got there, the principal wasn't there. He dropped the form on the principal's desk and walked slowly back to class. "Some important job," he muttered to himself. At recess, Flynn collected all the balls from around the playground and put them in the bin. No one seemed to notice. On his way home, a woman dropped her keys on the sidewalk. Flynn scooped them up and handed them back to her. But she scurried away without even a "thank you." Flynn sighed and trudged home. His mom was in the kitchen when he arrived. "Want a snack?" she asked. Flynn shrugged. "What's wrong, Flynn?" asked Mom. "Everything okay?" "My teacher at church says that since Jesus saved us we're supposed to do good deeds to show others His love and that we have faith in Him. But what's the point if no one even notices the good things I do?"Mom paused. "Do you remember the year Dad was out of work?" she asked."Yeah," said Flynn. He did remember. It was a hard year."And do you remember how a grocery card and Bible verse appeared in our mailbox every single week?" asked Mom. Again Flynn nodded. "Those verses and gift cards kept us going during a very hard time, but we never found out who was behind it," Mom said. "Why didn't they let us thank them?""I guess it just made them feel good to help us," said Flynn."I'm sure it did," said Mom. "But I also think they knew that the Bible tells us to do our good deeds in secret and that God, who sees everything, will reward us. Even though your good deeds may not get any appreciation here on earth, keep doing them. God sees every good thing you do for others out of the love He has shown you, and He knows you're doing them for Him." –Laura KuehnHow About You?Do you get frustrated when the good things you do are not appreciated by others? Don't stop doing good. Jesus, who loves you so much that He died for your sins to make you God's child, appreciates every good thing you do out of the love you have for Him. Remember that you are serving Him, not people, and that He will reward you in His way and in His time. Today's Key Verse:Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV) (Galatians 6:9)Today's Key Thought:God sees your good deeds

God's love transcends human understanding and surpasses any love we could envision for ourselves. It is pure, unconditional, and ceaseless, unlike human love, which can be influenced by imperfection and self-interest. This divine love serves as an unfaltering source of comfort, healing, and transformation, exceeding any form of love we could dream of in its depth, breadth, and constancy. You may recognize actress Jen Lilley from her appearances on Criminal Minds, General Hospital, Days Of Our Lives, and several Hallmark and Great American Family movies. Her road to becoming an actress had its fair share of challenges, but her faith that God cared about the outcomes of her decisions kept her pushing forward. Authors and influencers Christian and Sadie Huff have learned firsthand that their relationships with friends, family, and as husband and wife dramatically improve when Christ's love is at the center.    Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Kerry Washington Upcoming interview: Jochen Wurfl Thank you to our sponsors: www.give.cru.org | www.ReadRelief.com    Jen Lilley Criminal Minds General Hospital Days Of Our Lives Bulimia www.jenlilley.com   Christian and Sadie Huff  How to Put Love First 4:8 Men Podcast Live Original  1 Corinthians 13 NIV Galatians 5 NIV   Interview Quotes: “I think anytime you are choosing to center your day around Jesus, you're gonna get through life easier, you're going to get through life with the fruit of the spirit, and you're going to get through life in a way where God really is the author and finisher of your faith.” - Jen Lilley  “If your relationship with God is first, how to put love first essentially is saying how to put God first, because if God is first, then love will flow into all your other relationships from there and it'll bless every relationship that you touch.” - Sadie Robertson Huff  “Your relationship with God does not have to look one certain way.” - Sadie Robertson Huff  “I think that if you do put love first, meaning if you put God first in your life, then you will see these things produced in your life; you will see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control.” - Christian Huff  “Before [the Bible] says ‘love your neighbor as yourself,' it says, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength.' Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:32-5:1; Philippians 2:1-4"This is cool!" said Weston as he and some other boys from church hiked through the woods. Sometimes they walked easily along the well-beaten trail, but other times they had to scramble over fallen trees or weave their way around them. "Hey, Lucas!" Weston called out. "Race you to that tree up there!" But as he started off he tripped on a tree root, and down he went. "Ouch!" he cried, grabbing his ankle. Their leader, Mr. Greg, hurried over as Weston got up. "I think I can walk okay," Weston said, gingerly testing his ankle. "It doesn't hurt too bad." "It'll be easier on him if he doesn't have to carry the extra weight of his backpack," said Lucas. "I'll carry it for him.""Me too," chimed in several other voices."Thank you, boys," said Mr. Greg. So for the rest of the hike, the boys took turns carrying Weston's backpack. At the end of the hike, the boys built a campfire and had a hot dog roast. "You know," said Mr. Greg, "what you boys did for Weston today is exactly what Jesus tells us to do for others. We all carry different responsibilities and problems in our lives, but if one of us has a load that's too heavy, the others need to help carry it until that person is able to handle it on their own again. You helped Weston carry his backpack, and Jesus wants us to help others carry their life's burdens. He carried our greatest burden of all--our sin--to the cross, and He offers us help and comfort whenever we're weighed down with life's struggles. When we help carry other people's burdens, we show them His love. What are some ways kids like you get burdened down, and what could a friend do to help?"After a moment, Weston spoke. "Some kids have trouble with tests," he said. "Maybe we could offer to help them study.""Yeah, and we could make friends with new kids at school and invite them to church," offered Lucas. "We could even try to reach out to kids who aren't always nice to us," said Pete. "And pray for them too."Mr. Greg nodded. "Good suggestions," he said. "This week, let's see how many burdens we can help carry for others." – Gayle J. ThornHow About You?Does anyone around you have a burden you could help carry? Maybe you know someone who's struggling with homework or who's lonely and needs a friend. Even if you can't help them with their problems, you can still help carry their burdens by praying for them. Divorce or separation can feel like a taboo subject amongst Christians, with great feelings of guilt and shame when our marriages/relationships don't work out. But the truth is that no relationship is perfect, every relationship takes work, and when marriages or long-term partnerships end, many churches want to support those affected - they just don't always know how. So this content-packed episode with guest Erik Castenkiold, who leads Restored Lives, will help us all become more informed about divorce, marriage, relationships, and supporting those in them. Erik shares honestly about the impact of divorce on children and teenagers, how we can navigate them through tricky times in our relationships, but also the hope and encouragement of how we can point our kids to Jesus, even in dark times. Erik has personal experience of divorce, and is now happily married with three young adult children, based in London. He worships at Holy Trinity Brompton where he is on the PCC. Erik is a Chartered Accountant by profession, having worked for several big-name companies including Deloitte, but has also been running Restored Lives since 2021, a charity that has helped thousands of people find hope after divorce. How do we recognize others? How are we recognized? Can we recognize God beyond ourselves? Main points we will explore on this episode of Recognize the Real"! We will use the premise of Exodus 3:1-4 and needle away at the importance of how recognition could be a harbinger of what is to come or cognitive prison for some. If our thinking at its foundation is fractured we fail to discern (recognize) the normality's of God and we will forever see God's movements as abnormal, obtuse, and coincidental instead of realizing His omnipresence. Just like current laws don't create compliance, the Old Testament law could never accomplish the thing you and I needed most... to make us alive! In other words, people don't follow a law simply because it's a law; and we are not made right with God simply because we follow the scriptural law. Paul shows the Galatians how much more important God's promises are over the rules and regulations. Part 6 - Promises, Promises (Galatians 3:15-29)Laws don't create “compliance”.   - Galatians 3:15-18 (NIV)   - Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)Timeline: God makes this promise to Abraham - Then 430 years later… God gives the Israelites the Law.   - Galatians 3:19 (NIV)   - Galatians 3:21 (NIV)The Law… was given, but the law never gave life. The promise gave us life… The law gives us rules. The main point of Paul's argument here is that The Law cannot do the most important thing that we need done: it cannot make us alive! The promise/Spirit gives us access to God, the law only gives us guidelines. The promise/Spirit gives us victory over sin, the law only gives us awareness of sin. The promise/Spirit gives us acceptance, the law only gives us confinement & judgment. The law is a prison… The Spirit is freedom!Galatians 3:26-29 (NIV)If we are Christ's then everything changes… We have a new identity, new community, new inheritance.Luke 12:32 (NLT) “So don't be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.”If we are Christ's then we have nothing to fear. Even in the uncertain times.Ask yourself: What am I afraid of?Need Prayer?

Bible Reading: Galatians 5:22-26; Hebrews 12:1-3"Look! Here they come," said Isabella's dad. He pointed down the street past the next few parade entries.Isabella could hear the beat of the drums from a block away. She searched for her brother. All the students in his middle school marching band were wearing matching uniforms with hats pulled down low over their foreheads."They all look alike," Isabella said. "How will I find Max?""He'll be in the row with the other trombone players," said Dad. As the band got closer, the drum major turned around and marched backwards, facing the band. He blew a whistle, then waved his baton in the air. The band started playing a song. He turned and marched forward again, never missing a step.Left, right, left, right. Isabella tried to match the tempo with her own feet. "Look, Dad," she said as she marched in place. "I'm practicing for when I get older." Isabella spied her brother as his row passed in front of her. "Hi, Max!" she yelled, waving. He stared straight ahead, playing his trombone and marching in time with the music. Isabella's feet lost their rhythm, and she stopped marching. "Dad, why didn't Max look at me?" she asked, disappointed."Max needs to stay focused on the drum major so he knows how to march and when to play," Dad explained. Isabella grinned. "That's sounds like what we talked about during devotions last night! We talked about how we need to stay focused on Jesus and trust Him to help us show His love to others."Dad nodded. "Just like a drum major leads the band, Jesus leads us in living out His love. He gave us the Holy Spirit, who helps us keep in step with who Jesus has made us to be as His children. Then we won't be led astray by things that distract us or tempt us to sin.""Like Max didn't let anything distract him?""Right," said Dad. "He stayed focused on the drum major and trusted him to lead him and the rest of the band in what they needed to do."Isabella heard another band coming. "I want to practice keeping in step," she said."With the bands?" Dad asked."With Jesus," Isabella said, and she started to march. -Marie ClevelandHow About You?Are you marching to the beat of Jesus's love in your life? Bible Reading: Psalm 139:1-4, 13-14Jonah sat on the rope swing in the backyard, thinking about the new boy in his class at school while his mom weeded the flower garden. "Hey, Mom," Jonah said. "Have you ever heard of autism?""Yes, why do you ask?" asked Mom."Well, there's this new kid in my class named Max," explained Jonah. "My teacher said he has a form of autism that might make him react differently or say things in a way that might seem odd sometimes. She told us to be extra patient and kind as he adjusts to a new school. He seems really smart--like in science class he knew all sorts of facts about outer space and space missions. But then at lunch, he sat all by himself even after I invited him to sit at my table. He didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered. I'm not sure what to do." "People with autism sometimes make friends a little differently," said Mom. "Being around a large group of people is probably challenging for Max.""I want to be friends with him, but I'm not sure how," Jonah said. Mom looked at her flower garden. "Do you see how these lilies are starting to fall over? Every year, I have to tie them to a stick for extra support. Maybe Max just needs a friend like you to give him extra support in the friendship department." "You mean I can kind of be like the stick to help prop him up?" asked Jonah.Mom nodded. "You can ask to sit with him at his lunch table tomorrow so he doesn't feel so overwhelmed by a crowd. You can support him by listening to him and trying to understand how he sees things. As you get to know him, I think you'll find that there are areas you struggle with where he can support you."Jonah grinned. "Like science!" "God made Max with unique abilities, just like He made you with special talents and skills," Mom said. "He gave us all different gifts so we can use them to help each other. Jesus knows we all need His love and support, and He often shows it to us through other people. You can be that friend for Max--and he can help support you too." -Kendra AngleHow About You?Do you know someone who could use some extra support? Bible Reading: John 15:5-6"Look at all the pumpkins!" Tanner exclaimed, excited to help Aunt Carolyn harvest her pumpkin patch. Orange pumpkins dotted the ground of the huge field.Aunt Carolyn smiled. "Do you know each pumpkin has five hundred seeds inside?""No, but I know pumpkin pie tastes good," Tanner said.Aunt Carolyn tousled his hair then carefully stepped into the field, making sure she placed her feet in powdery dirt and not on the plants.Tanner lifted his leg high to avoid stepping on the vine. He stopped by a raised mound of dirt. "What's this?""This is where I planted the seed that grew into the pumpkin plant.""One seed?" Tanner scrunched his face. "One seed made all these vines?" Several vines with large, dark green leaves shot out from the main plant like octopus tentacles stretching and curling across the field. "But there are several pumpkins on each vine!""One seed can produce a lot of fruit." Aunt Carolyn patted his shoulder. "After you pick the pumpkins, carry them over to the fence.""Okay." Tanner plucked a small pumpkin from the plant, then a larger one. As he carried them to the fence, his foot tangled in a vine. He placed the pumpkins on the ground and carefully unwound the plant from his ankle. Once he was free, he gently worked the twisted vine into a straight line, plucking the ripe fruit from it as he went. When he finished, the vine stretched to the fence where Aunt Carolyn stood watching him. "I harvested eight pumpkins from this one runner!" Tanner exclaimed."It was a good vine." Aunt Carolyn set down a pumpkin. "It reminds me of Jesus. He provides us with spiritual nourishment, just like a healthy vine helps a pumpkin grow."Tanner smiled and wiped his brow. "We learned in Sunday school that if we trust in Jesus, we can show His love to others and tell them about Him. Then they may decide to trust in Him too!""Right!" said Aunt Carolyn. "What did he do?" she asked."Miguel wanted to grow watermelons," Dad explained, "and I told him he was using squash seeds. But would he believe me? Oh no! He insisted they were watermelon seeds.""It was a perfectly understandable mistake," Miguel said. "They look a lot alike.""Miguel told me if I'd just be patient and wait until they grew, I'd see for myself," continued Dad. "I waited…and here's the finished product." As Dad held up the bowl of squash, Miguel couldn't help but laugh along with everyone else."Like the Bible says, you reap what you sow," said Mom. "That sure is true, both in a garden and in life. We all need to make sure we sow the right kind of seeds." "Especially in our lives," said Dad. "If we live to please ourselves and sow evil deeds, we can expect to reap evil and sorrow. But if we put our faith in Jesus and sow good things that come from His Spirit living inside of us, we can expect to reap joy and blessings." Mom nodded. "Whatever we plant in life is what we'll get. That's why we must trust in Jesus and depend on Him to produce His love and goodness in us."-Hazel W. MarettHow About You?What are you sowing in your life? Are you living to please yourself and sowing things like selfishness, lies, and greed? Or are you trusting God to help you sow good things such as love, kindness, and forgiveness? The Bible tells us we can't produce anything good in our lives without Jesus. Trust Him as your Savior. (To learn more, click the "Good News!" button in the right column of this page.) Each one of us has a unique story to share—and within each of these complex stories many of us have experienced loss, heartache, shame, and tragedy which profoundly affect our lives. But once we begin to face our heartaches and realize their effect on our lives, we can see the slow steady pursuit of a God who only desires our healing and wholeness. This week we'll be discussing the way that God cares about each of our stories and is there to walk us through our trauma with Dr. Dan Allender and Cathy Loerzel—founders of the Allender Center, and how we can act out of the new heart He so lovingly restores to us with Pastor Andrew Farley. And so then we've got an in and out and in and out of fellowship. Praying comes naturally to some and not to others. I have to be honest that it does not come naturally to me (#messymiddle)! But it is an ESSENTIAL practice for the Christian life and the life of anyone on mission. It's a great gift that can carry us through, give us direction, and help us practice trust. I don't want you to feel inadequate in your prayer life any longer. So my guest, Brooke McGlothlin, gives us just the encouragement and practical wisdom you may need today as well as a little prayer teaching from me! Brooke answers... Why should we pray for our kids or anyone else in our lives? What makes it effective? What do we need to keep in mind when our prayers feel like they are not being answered? Life feels really busy. What would you say to the women who feel like they don't have time to pray AT ALL, let alone for their kids? What practical wisdom can you give us? Brooke McGlothlin has encouraged thousands of moms toward a richer prayer life for over a decade. She is the cofounder of Million Praying Moms, a popular online ministry that exists to help moms make prayer their first and best response to the challenges of parenting. Brooke is the author of several books and resources for moms and lives in the mountains of southwest Virginia with her husband and their two sons. Bible Reading: Matthew 13:33When Mia and Liam entered Grandma's kitchen, Grandma was stirring something in a kettle on the stove. "What are you making, Grandma?" asked Mia. "It smells weird.""I'm making playdough for my Sunday school kids," Grandma replied. "Would you like to help?""Yes!" the twins both exclaimed. They watched as Grandma dumped a mound of plain, white dough onto the kitchen counter and divided it into two parts."That playdough color looks kind of boring," said Mia, frowning."That's what you're going to help me with," Grandma said. She squirted two drops of red food coloring into one batch of dough and a little blue coloring in the other. Then she placed each part in a plastic bag and zipped it shut."One for each of you," she said, holding out the sealed bags. "Start kneading. The bags will protect your hands from getting stained by the food coloring." Mia picked blue, and Liam took red. As they squished the warm dough around inside the bags, streaks of color began to work their way through the white dough."Are you sure there's enough food coloring in this?" asked Mia doubtfully. "Just keep working at it, and eventually the color will work all through the dough," said Grandma. "It's like the parable Jesus told about a woman who mixed only a little bit of yeast into her big batch of bread dough.""Did she have enough yeast?" Liam asked."Yes," said Grandma, "but it took a lot of work to get it mixed all through the dough.""Telling people about Jesus is kind of like that, isn't it?" said Liam thoughtfully. "It takes work to spread the good news of salvation, and time for people to accept it.""A lot of work," Mia groaned. "My hands are getting tired.""Yes, but don't forget it's really God who does the work of changing people's hearts," said Grandma. "But He wants us to join Him in His work. As we tell people about Jesus and show them His love, we're helping spread the good news of salvation throughout the world." "And the results are worth it," Liam said as he held up his bag of red playdough. "It looks so much better now!" Mia exclaimed.Grandma smiled. "Just like a life that has been changed by Jesus." -Marie ClevelandHow About You?Did you know God is inviting you to join Him in His work of bringing people to Jesus? How might you help do that? 6 Purposes of the Holy Spirit 1. The Holy Spirit comforts you 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4  who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (NIV) John 14:26   But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (KJV) 2. The Holy Spirit leads your life Romans 8:4–5 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5  Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (NIV) Galatians 5:25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. (NLT) 1. You speak what the Spirit says to speak 1 Corinthians 2:13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. (NLT) 2. You go where the Spirit says to go Luke 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, (NIV) Acts 11:11-12 “Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.  12  The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house. (NIV) 3. You don’t go where the Spirit says not to go Acts 16:6-7 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.  7  When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. (NIV) 4. You let the Spirit speak to you through God’s people 1 Corinthians 2:12–15   And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13  When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14  But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15  Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. (NLT) 5. You let the Spirit speak to you about your daily decisions Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (NIV) 3. The Holy Spirit unifies the church 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  13  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (NIV) Ephesians 2:21–22   in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22  in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. (NKJV) Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (NIV) 4. The Holy Spirit empowers you Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV) 5. The Holy Spirit convicts you 1. He convicts lost people to be saved John 16:7-8 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.  8  And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. (NLT) 2. He convicts saints to be sanctified 6. The Holy Spirit changes you 2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (NLT) Hebrews 3:7–8 7  So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, (NIV)

Bible Reading: Romans 3:23-28"Asher, did you invite Toby to Bible camp yet?" Mom asked as she placed a dish in the oven. "No, I forgot," Asher answered from his spot at the table. "That's what you said last weekand the week before that," Mom said with a frown. Asher shrugged, his eyes glued to his laptop screen. "I don't think he'd be interested in going anyway. Toby's probably too far gone to be saved. He got sent to the principal's office for fighting again yesterday, and I heard he cheated on a math test. Not to mention he lies to everybody and talks back to the teachers." Before Mom could answer, Asher's sister Julia came rushing into the kitchen, holding a wilted plant in her hands. "Mom, my fern is dying! Can you help it?" Mom bent down to take a look. "I don't know, honey. It looks too far gone to me." "What?" Asher looked up from his computer. "Mom, you can't give up on Julia's fern--it has plenty of life left in it!" "But it's gone so long without water, I don't know if I can save it," Mom said with a sigh. "Just because it's a little dry doesn't mean you should just give up," said Asher. "Julia grew that fern herself, and I've seen you save plants a lot worse than this one. Don't you think you should at least" Asher stopped and thought for a minute. "Ohhh. I think I see where you're going with this," he said, realizing his mother was making a point. "You're right," said Mom. "I should try. And you should too! You said Toby is probably too far gone, but Jesus can save anyone. In the same way Julia cares for her plant, God loves and cares for Toby. In the Bible Jesus calls Himself living water because no one can have life without Him. Toby needs spiritual water--he needs Jesus. Maybe he just needs someone to take the time to help him understand how much Jesus loves him." Asher sighed. "All right. I'll invite Toby to Bible camp and try to be a good friend to him." He pointed at the plant. "But then you have to try and save Julia's fern."Mom smiled. "It's a deal!" Elena KetnerHow About You?Have you ever looked at somebody and decided they were "too far gone"? The Bible says we all have sinned and fall short of God's standard. None of us are perfect--we all do things that are wrong. Thankfully, we have a God who loves us no matter what! Jesus offers life to anyone who is thirsty--He can forgive any sin and change any heart. Don't give up on anyone. Keep pointing them to Jesus.Today's Key Verse:Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
