You may have your reasons not to watch this event live, or shell out the cash for the PPV - so we did it for you. Maybe there’s just something more important going on tonight, where you just can’t be in front of the TV. Whatever the case may be, we’ve got you covered! During the entire five-fight main card portion of UFC 252, throughout the telecast, our own Combat Culture YT’s Matt Ryan, will engage with the live chat whenever possible. Along with his co-host Harry Terjanian, the guys will be doing a radio-style PBP broadcast of every single important bit of violence. The UFC is showcasing a card featuring a title fight for the World Heavyweight Championship tonight. In our featured bout we have Miocic and Cormier going at it for the third time in a trilogy bout nobody really asked for, or did they? The UFC is marketing this as the most important Heavyweight bout in UFC history. To refresh your memories, first we had Miocic victorious over Cormier at UFC 226 in July, 2018 via Punches at 4:33 of Round 1, next we had Cormier victorious over Miocic at UFC 241 in August, 2019 via Punches at 4:09 of Round 4. TONIGHT (Sat. August 15, 2020) we have the trilogy bout at the UFC 252 PPV event being broadcast from the relatively new #UFCAPEX Fight Center in Las Vegas. Our defending champion: Daniel Cormier, is entering the octagon to fight for the first time since their last bout. The former Olympic Wrestler and former two-division world champion, ‘DC’, has been busy as an analyst and commentator for the UFC this past year, while training during COVID-19. Fighting out of San Jose, California with AKA, with a 22-2 fight record, the 41 year old is going up against Stipe Miocic once again. Miocic, 37 now, holding a 19-3 fight record, also hasn’t stepped foot in the octagon since their last bout. Despite Dana White’s skepticism, Cormier has gone on record stating he is putting an end to his illustrious career, win or lose, he’s retiring tonight. Also on the card, a highly-anticipated bantamweight scrap for our co-main event; it’s a battle between the up-and-comer, ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley, against veteran, Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. As if that's not enough, we also have an exciting bantamweight tilt between John ‘The Magician’ Dodson and Merab ‘The Machine’ Dvalishvili - which is preceded by a fully packed undercard! Here’s a look at the UFC 252 Fight Card and current fight records: UFC 252 PPV MAIN CARD | SAT. Dan Gable in 1966 decided that he wanted to win the 1972 Olympic Games. So, he started training. He trained at least once a day, and usually twice a day, and he had very injured knees. One doctor said, “Dan, if you keep wrestling, you might be crippled for the rest of your life.” Dan Gable kept wrestling. He found that wrestling on one leg made him a better wrestler than wrestling on two legs. Las Wednesday, he talked about the year before the Olympics, he entered the biggest wrestling tournament in the world. Tbilisi is the capital in Georgia, and back at that time, it was still part of the Soviet Union. So, they had this wrestling tournament, and Dan Gable won his weight class, and was given the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Now, wresting line Russia is huge, and at the end of their tournaments which are several day affairs, they had this banquet with 10,000 people where they honored all the champions, and they especially honored Dan Gable. So, Dan Gable after he got all his awards, he went back to his table, and the head of the Russian Wrestling Federation is talking in Russian, and every once in a while he heard, “Goble, Goble, Goble.” He said to his buddy next to him who spoke Russian, “Is he talking about me?” He said, “Yes, he is.” He said, “What’s he saying?” He said, “I’ll tell you when he’s done.” So, when the Head of the Russian Wrestling Federation was done, Gable’s friend said, “He said that between now and the 1972 Olympics, they’re going to every state in the Soviet Union, they are going to every school, they are going to every wrestling club, and they are going to find a person to beat the American Dan Gable in the 1972 Olympics.” Last week, Dan Gable said something awesome. He said, “When he told me that sentence, all of a sudden, I got this excitement in my body. I said, ‘I’m taking it to the next level.’” Now, when I told this story to my class a couple of days ago, this kid put his hand up, he said, “Hey, Doctor Gilbert, there have been other Americans who have won gold medals in wrestling. Why you making such a big deal about Dan Gable?” I said, “You’re right. There are others wrestlers who have won more than one gold medal in Olympics, but Dan Gable did something that nobody in the history of the world ever did.” When Dan Gable won his Olympic gold medal in 1972, nobody even scored one point on him. He shut out each and every one of his opponents. That would be the equivalent to a pitcher pitching three no-hitters in the World Series. So, Dan Gable shut out each and every one of them. Now, in the ramp up to the 1972 Olympics, he trained for six years, and somebody said, “What motivated you?” He said, “I knew I had to beat a Russian

Jake Herbert is one of the greatest American wrestlers of all time. Sporting a 149-4 record at Northwestern, which included 2 undefeated seasons, Jake won 8 National Titles, 1 World Silver Medal, The Heisman Trophy of Wrestling, Big Ten Athlete of the Year and competed in the 2012 Olympics for USA. When asked how he achieved those staggering accolades, Jake boiled it down to one word: relentlessness. Whether in training sessions where he would routinely vomit, to pre-meet visualization that is 10X more intense than any fight could be (which he describes in full detail), Jake is relentless in everything he does. As expected, this has translated into his post-wrestling career as a Real Estate Agent and Personal Coach. One example of this is Jake's philosophy of the 4 B's: Body - Nutrition, exercise Balance - Spending time with his wife and two children Business - His lofty sales and personal coaching goals Being - Meditation, journaling and making sure your mind is right If you're able to do 1 solid thing in each of these categories every day, you're moving forward in the right direction. It won't always work and the 4 B's won't always be evenly split, but it's a long term strategy that pays massive dividends. Jim Scherr was a decade-long Olympic and World Champion wrestler. After his international competition years, he decided to pursue the business of sports, becoming the Executive Director of USA Wrestling, then worked his way into becoming the Chief Executive Officer of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). As such, Jim oversaw, operated, and led the performance of all USA Olympic sports for a 10-year span. Enter lacrosse. Today, Jim's the CEO of the Federation of International Lacrosse -- the governing body that oversees 58 internationally sanctioned countries who compete for prominence in global lacrosse competitions. And at this moment, Jim's job is mainly focused on getting lacrosse back into the Olympics. Today's episode was recorded live at this year's US Lacrosse Convention. My good friend and business leader at Inside Lacrosse, Terry Foy, set the conversation up in front of packed house at their company's annual Industry Summit (thank you, Terry). Jim and I discuss his athletic chops as an Olympic wrestler, the commonalities between sport and business, his learnings at the helm of the USOC, and predictions for lacrosse. It's May Madness in the lacrosse world. Enjoy my first ever live-recording of Suiting Up Podcast, with Jim Scherr.
