Frankie Hall (DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK) is enjoying the best season of her cycling career. A comparative latecomer to the sport, she has overcome significant hurdles, including crashes, injuries, road accidents and the ongoing challenge of balancing work and sport to compete against the very best in road, track and circuit races.  In this wide-ranging interview, Hall describes how her passion for hockey, her first sporting love, was derailed by an eating disorder. Training with the Great Britain team at Loughborough University, however, ultimately led to an academic career there and membership of the university cycling club. The rest is history.  Tenth place in the elite women's road race at the 2024 National Road Championships in Saltburn represented a significant step towards fulfilling her potential. Hall offers detailed insights into her physical and mental preparation and the tactical awareness that placed her at the sharp end as the race approached its climax.  In February, Hall won two medals at the 2024 National Track Championships in Manchester: an achievement made more impressive by the financial constraints that limited her preparation. She talks frankly about the prohibitive costs of indoor racing and the wider financial pressures faced by an elite athlete seeking to turn professional.  Her effervescent style in circuit races had earned her a reputation as a specialist in the discipline, but in this interview, Hall argues that these short, sharp, technical events simply accounted for the bulk of her early opportunities (with welcome irony, she won the opening round of the 2024 National Circuit Series in Otley two days after recording this interview).  Enjoy this revealing conversation with co-host Timothy John, in which Hall offers an inspiring insight into the drive and dedication demanded of an amateur athlete to compete against professional riders. From postponing PhD studies to balancing hospitality work with an international race programme, Hall offers an honest account of her sacrifices in pursuit of sporting success.

Mary Ann shares the story of her childhood trauma and how Jesus brought her total healing. In addition to lots of wisdom regarding our relationship with our children, Mary Ann also discusses the format for her Journaling with Jesus classes and the steps for quieting our hearts so we can hear from God.  About Mary Ann Like so many women, I experienced the humiliation and shame of being sexually abused as a child. I coped by internalizing the pain and tried to create my own happiness for decades. I lost my bearings as I sought to be accepted from people that could not fill the void in my heart. I felt like a pinball in a pinball machine bouncing from one crisis to the next, experiencing one disappointment after another. The anguish I had experienced for decades began to be relieved as I found the answers to three questions: “What is Real?” “What is Important? “What's the truth?” I discovered the pathway to healing from a place, I least expected it. And I found that pure love really does exist, healing can happen, freedom is within our grasp. Just as I was led along this healing path, my mission through Love Triumphs is to guide other women along their path of healing and freedom. To learn more, read my story Love Triumphs! Today's guest had devoted his career to mastering the craft of sales development. Justin Otley is the VP of Global Sales Development at Talkdesk. Justin joins Host Matt Benelli to discuss why sales leaders should be focused on their team's fundamentals rather than their tech stack, how to use an Issue Diagnosis Framework when coaching sellers, and why it's imperative to show SDRs that there is a path forward.Takeaways:Spending time on mastering the fundamentals of the sales process can yield better results than depending on a fancy tech stack. If your team is not coached and trained effectively, no technological aid can help achieve the desired sales goals.Don't let your sales team become over-dependent on sales engagement platforms. While a sales engagement platform can be a helpful tool, it should not replace mastering the basics of sales and a hands-on, detailed approach. It's essential to address any performance issues as early as possible. Being proactive in providing coaching or improvement plans can help improve the SDR's performance before it negatively impacts the overall sales goals. The most successful SDRs exhibit resourcefulness and curiosity, leveraging these traits to deliver results while maintaining a tenacious focus on personal and professional development. It's critical to develop a well-thought-out career path for SDRs. This includes providing opportunities for internal promotion when they master their role and preparing SDRs for their next role within the organization.Having the right people on your team is essential for success. This includes hiring individuals who align with your company culture and possess the tenacity to achieve goals without making excuses. A multi-pronged approach leveraging phone calls, emails, and social media outreach can set SDR teams up for success. Despite the increasing popularity of online channels, phone calls are still vital for effective outreach.Quote of the Show:“AI is going to replace lazy sellers, lazy SDRs, right? Those who are not willing to put in the work and make it a good experience for their prospect or customer. Those are the ones that are going to, unfortunately, pay the consequences.” - Justin OtleyLinks:Twitter: [guest's Twitter]LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/justinotley/ Website: https://www.talkdesk.com/ Shoutouts:Kyle Coleman: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kyletcoleman/ Kevin Dorsey: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kddorsey3/ Ways to Tune In:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Yb1wPzUxyrfR0Dx35ym1A Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-build-a-coaching-culture/id1699901434 Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/fd188af6-7c17-4b2e-a0b2-196ecd6fdf77 Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-5419703 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Coach2Scale CoachEm™ is the first Coaching Execution Platform that integrates deep learning technology to proactively analyze patterns, highlight the "why" behind the data with root causes, and identify the actions that will ultimately improve business results going forward.  These practical coaching recommendations for managers will help their teams drive more deals, bigger deals, faster deals and loyal customers. At Mayo Clinic, the Department of Business Development is the front door to business. From technology commercialization to strategic partnerships, the ultimate goal of innovation at Mayo Clinic is to improve health outcomes and benefit patients.Business Development has two divisions: Mayo Clinic Ventures, which is Mayo's technology development and commercialization group, responsible for assisting Mayo innovators in advancing their invention ideas into actual products.  Corporate Development, which is focused on creating opportunities such as partnerships, joint ventures, and new company formation. "Mayo has about 7,000 active inventors across its campuses, which is quite incredible," says Dr. Clark Otley, medical director for the Department of Business Development at Mayo Clinic. "Every week, I receive a list of the new invention ideas and technologies that they think up, and I am frankly in awe of their creativity and drive to help our patients."  Mayo Clinic Ventures works hand in hand with all three shields at Mayo Clinic — Research, Practice and Education — to advance the best ideas to the marketplace.  "In many parts of health care, a 10% success rate is considered standard," explains Dr. Otley. "Mayo's success rate in achieving at least some degree of commercial success is closer to 30%, thanks to our amazing inventors and the hard work of our Mayo Clinic Ventures staff."  Mayo's key invention activities and innovations align with the strategic plan to "Cure. Connect. Transform." Business Development supports key activities in each of those areas: In Cures, Business Development is partnering with our Research and Practice innovators to advance technologies aimed at restoring vision, diagnosing cancers bodywide through a blood test, manipulating the proximal small intestine to reverse diabetes, controlling recalcitrant seizures and regenerating organs that have worn out, and many more areas. In Connect, Business Development is partnering with innovators in the practice, Center for Digital Health and Mayo Clinic Platform to advance the care of patients with serious or complex diseases in the comfort of their home, caring for pregnant patients in more effective and less disruptive ways, and even extending cancer care beyond the walls of Mayo Clinic. In Transform, Business Development is partnering with Mayo Clinic Platform to advance new, transformative, data-science-based platform solutions that aim to extend Mayo's expertise, powered by artificial intelligence, to patients across the world, in conjunction with colleagues from Mayo Clinic International. Past successes help support future endeavors at Mayo Clinic."The big news is that Mayo is about the hit a milestone related to inventing," says Dr. Otley. "Sometime this winter, Mayo will reach the $1 billion milestone of revenue brought back from our inventing activity, supported by Mayo Clinic Ventures. And the beautiful thing is that those proceeds are reinvested back into our three-shield mission of Practice, Education and Research to maintain the virtuous cycle of invention in patient care."On the Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, Dr. Otley joins host, Dr. Halena Gazelka, to share an inside look at invention at Mayo Clinic.

Welcome to June 16th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate profitable pastimes and candies.   There was a time that if you wanted to listen to music in public, there needed to be a live band. But Jimmy Savile changed all that in 1943, when he threw the world's first DJ dance party in Otley, England. He played jazz records at the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds and was the first DJ to use twin turntables, a setup DJs still use to this day. Later that decade, the first disco club opened in Paris, France, called Whiskey a Go-Go. Since then, the disc jockey has become a fixture in popular culture and is an integral part of getting pop music to the masses. June is National DJ Month, when we celebrate the folks who keep the world singing and dancing. From her desk at Vassar College, Emelyn Hartridge wrote that a classmate's cousin had sold a pound of fudge for 40 cents. She hatched a plan to make up a batch for the Senior Auction that year and the entrepreneur spirit quickly spread. Soon other women's colleges had developed their own recipes and by 1888 fudge fever was afoot. Young women dodged curfew and cooked up the candy over gas lamps in their dorm rooms. Fudge was seen as an indulgence, which probably fueled the rebellion. But regardless of who cooked it up first, candy stores on Mackinac Island, Michigan put this treat on the map. Today gift shops across the country carry all sorts of flavors and on National Fudge Day, it's easy to celebrate the candy that still sells like hotcakes. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Tour Series is Britain's best-loved series of city centre circuit races. Since 2009, it's granted an early opportunity to blossoming British talent. Brother UK has sponsored The Tour Series since 2014 and served as Official Print and Results Partner since 2016. We proudly sponsor the Brother Fastest Lap competition, too.  This episode is the second instalment of a two-part preview of the 2021 Tour Series. Co-hosts Timothy John and Phil Jones, the Managing Director of Brother UK, are joined by Larry Hickmott, the editor of VeloUK.net. The trio discuss key points from part one: a documentary-style examination of crit racing, also available from this platform.  Reigning British Circuit Race Champions Joey Walker and Rebecca Durrell shared insights in our investigative episode. Tim reflects on Joey's revelation that elite riders must always race on the very limit of crashing, such is the speed and intensity of top-level crit races like those featured in The Tour Series. Phil offers his first impressions of all-action crit racing (“flat out from the gun and hold on till the line”) and a more detailed analysis based on the huge “situational awareness” that a rider must have to process the position of rivals, team-mates and instructions received while passing the pits. Larry considers the star performers of the season-to-date and reflects that The Tour Series will represent a first coming together. He identifies Lucy Lee and Dani Shrosbree of Team Brother UK-LDN, Team Breeze and the Brother UK-sponsored Crimson Performance men's squad among those to watch when The Tour Series begins.  A condensed, week-long campaign represents The Tour Series' return from its Covid-enforced absence last year. Councils have traditionally invested in hosting rounds. Many now face budget shortfalls, following austerity and a public health crisis. Phil argues that the need to reinvigorate town centres offers race organisers a new selling point.  Larry reports on the huge crowds who attended the recent National Circuit Series events in Otley and Ilkley. He reflects on public desire for enjoyment and events after a series of lockdowns. Covid, he concedes, continues to present elite cycle sport with an uncertain future, in the short-term at least.  Tim argues that this September's Tour of Britain will represent a valuable barometer of public opinion. Britain's national tour has its “grand départ” on the Cornish riviera in September. The willingness or otherwise of crowds to gather in towns like Penzance to greet the race will be revealing, Tim maintains. The trio considers the roster of top performers who have established reputations at The Tour Series. Alice and Hannah Barnes, Graham Briggs, Ed Clancy, Dean Downing, Grace and Lucy Garner, Anna Henderson and Tom Pidcock are just some who used its town centre circuit races as a springboard to stardom.  Listen now to enjoy insights from Tim, Larry and Phil and whet your appetite for the return of The Tour Series. Don't forget to check out part one of this episode for insights from Joey Walker (Crimson Performance-Orientation Marketing), Rebecca Durrell (CAMS-Basso), Peter Hodges (SweetSpot) and Mark Botteley (Team Brother UK-OnForm).

Welcome to Mysteries to Die For. I am Shannon Leahy and am here with Jack, the piano player and producer. This is a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you at the heart of mystery, murder, and mayhem. Some episodes will be my own stories, others will be classics that helped shape the mystery genre we know today. These are arrangements, which means instead of word-for-word readings, you get a performance meant to be heard. Jack and I perform these live, front to back, no breaks, no fakes, no retakes (unless it's really bad). This episode will be read by me, Shannon Leahy,   This is Season 2.  This season contains adaptations of stories published in the 1800s. These stories are some of the first considered to be mysteries. For that reason, this season is called The Originators.  Today's story is about perceptions and realities. This is the Episode 11 Natural Causes, an adaptation of The Notting Hill Mystery by Charles Felix. Shannon: This story contains several settings but the only one specifically named is the one in the original title, Notting Hill. Notting Hill is a neighborhood in London that is trendy and fashionable with a distinctive, small-village feel, according to TripAdvisor. It is famous for its market where vendors sell everything from fruit and veggies to antiques. This area is also a center for entertainment with several theatres for live shows and cinemas. The area has nearly 2,900 reviews with a rating of 4.5 and is ranked #142 of 2,359 things to do in London. Not too shabby. While only 11 miles from the Greenwich Observatory and the prime meridian, it will take about 45 minutes to drive there. That's how you know you're in a big city. Here in our corner of Indiana, 11 miles takes you 20 minutes, if your route has traffic lights.  The Notting Hill Mystery was written by Charles Felix and released in an 8-part serial in magazine called Once a Week beginning in November 1862. It was released as a novel in 1865. On Goodreads, The Notting Hill Mystery has 605 ratings with an average of 3.21. Let's take a look at a few reviews… Here's a 4-star rating: Good grief -- this book might possibly win the award for most convoluted murder mystery I've ever read, but it's definitely and seriously fun. It's definitely got a thin plot, but it rates high on my enjoyment-o-meter because of its diabolical craziness and downright crazy story elements. Here's a 3 star rating: A good example of procedural investigation presented to the reader in epistolary style. The language was typically wordy and appropriate to the Victorian era it is set in. While much of the story was quite repetitive - gather statements, compare, report evidence - this is how a case is built, and even though the culprit was reasonably clear from the beginning, I did enjoy reading The Notting Hill Mystery. [epistolary: adj, a literary work in the form of letters)] Here's a 1 star: "A tough read" I can appreciate the work needed to construct a book like this, but it's not a riveting read when you have to unscramble the Victorian script. In fact, I'm not even sure it was a story, just a series of statements tacked together. Not my cup of tea.  It's funny when you can read several reviews with totally different ratings and agree with them all. Jack, tell us a little about our author of the day. Jack: The Notting Hill Mystery was written by Charles Felix…or was it? This story and another called Velvet Lawn were credited to Charles Felix and published by Sanders, Otley, & Company. A 1864 column of The Manchester Times put it out there that Charles Felix was actually Charles Warren Adams. Adams was the attorney for the publishing house and eventually took over management when Sanders and Otley died. Adams never admitted to being Charles Felix, at least not publically. His wife and friends probably knew. A few academics got curious about this mystery and dug into the writing. In 1952 Support this podcast

"Back in the golden age of advertising, there was a cultural monopoly where a small number of channels would actually determine what you would be seeing," Philip told Mark and JV. "Yet the challenge now is we still need to pull those emotional strings but the volume, the number of channels, the competition within content, the amount of user-generated content is much, much higher." Tune in to hear more of Philip's thoughts on how branded content and emotional engagement could help you increase customer retention...

Allison is working on the Beeswax Hat by Amy van de Laar, in some gorgeous new Plump DK from Mrs. Moon,  and the Helix Cable Vest by Shiri Mor. She finished her Garter Squish Blanket (to the tune of +2000 yds out of stash!), and her sheep have mostly stayed cold, although she did get some gorgeous fabric at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Olympia.Rachel is almost done with Latticewing Version 3 (to be released soon!), worked in some lovely (green) Canopy Fingering from The Fibre Company. Her Windmill Bay Stole is almost through the middle lace section, and she's finished a woven handspun scarf (with Hello Yarn Fiber Club yarn, of course). She's been distracted from finishing things by her new Christmas toy, courtesy of her wonderful mother: a Classic Carder. Card all the things!!!!Cold Sheep Update:We've been pretty good at our cold sheep efforts, although Rachel was struck by a bolt of inspiration which resulted in a Baa Ram Ewe order (she needed the proper colour of a particular yarn!). However, we have agreed that "work" stash (for designing or samples) is quite separate from "personal" stash, so she has been given a pass for the moment. We also did a bit of swapping at The Muse Connection Volume 1, put on by A Playful Day and Curious Handmade. Alli's offering wasn't snatched up, so she gifted it to a friend to make up for the skein she selected at the swap. Rachel left two skeins and brought home two skeins, but ended up with more yardage then she swapped out. Hmmmm....Also a bit about our Yarn in the City 10K team (details here). Come run with us!Crazy about Colour! As we get closer and closer to the KNITSONIK Quotidian Colourwork class at the end of the month, excitement is building to play with ALL THE COLOURS OF WOOL! We talked to Felix, our intrepid colourwork guide, about her upcoming retreat with Brenda Dayne at Gwlana, her first knitting projects, the importance of colour and sounds in her life, her inspiration and a bit more about what participants can expect from the class. There are still a few slots available, so please come join us! Mayo Clinic Q&A
An inside look at invention at Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic Q&A
