True facts about Joe Pantoliano:He fought and defeated the last living dragon of the moorlands, but showed mercy at the last minute and spared its life. They're now good friends and have a time share in Palmdale. He once jumped back in horror and screamed “It's the ‘haint of Loch Gullmar!” at a passing vehicle. He had hair in the ‘80s, as evidenced in 1988's Midnight Run.He was cursed with invisibility in the seventeenth century by an ancient witch. What you see on screen is not Pantoliano but an ingenious moving matte painting that's actually part of the background..If you like these facts and want to hear more of them, try listening to Adam and Aidan talk about Midnight Run. The Movie Wars crew was exhilarated to tackle two buddy cop classics in 1989's Lethal Weapon 2 and 1995's Bad Boys. Similar to Westerns, the Buddy Cop genre has been transformed and retooled, all while paying homage to a timeless formula. The chemistry between the lead actors drives both of these films. LW2 reveals that Riggs and Murtaugh are more like family than when they were introduced in the franchise's first entry, where they were beleaguered and struggled to reconcile their opposing policing methods. Bad Boys hinges more on Mike and Marcus' friction and bickering, leading to the ultimate payoff when their highly effective partnership is put on full display. Both films are anchored by comedic third wheels played by a pair of legendary Joes(Pesci and Pantoliano). How will the war score fair for these two genre titans? Give it a listen because you're never too old for this Movie Wars sh*t. Film SummariesLethal Weapon 2South African smugglers find themselves being hounded and harassed by Riggs and Murtaugh, two mismatched Los Angeles police officers. However, the South Africans are protected by diplomatic immunity, and so the two are assigned to witness-protection duty in an attempt by their captain to keep his job. It is only when this witness reveals to them that he has already dealt with the smugglers that the trouble really starts.Rating: RGenre: Action, Mystery & thrillerOriginal Language: EnglishDirector: Richard DonnerProducer: Richard Donner, Joel SilverWriter: Jeffrey BoamRelease Date (Theaters): Jul 7, 1989 OriginalRelease Date (Streaming): Aug 15, 2008Box Office (Gross USA): $144.9MRuntime: 1h 53mDistributor: Warner Bros. This sultry crime thriller stars the ever-adorable Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon, and Joe Pantoliano in a sharply written gen filled with murder, deception, and a twisty-turny con game. When Violet (Tilly), a mobster's (Pantoliano) girlfriend, meets ex-con (Gershon), the pair begin a love affair that pits them against the mob as they plan to steal $2 million dollars and disappear together. Bound also stars a young Christopher Meloni and the fantastic John P. Ryan in his final role. This was the film that put The Wachowski's on the map and made way for their blockbuster hit The Matrix. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

Everybody knows the scene where Tom Cruise slides out in his tighty whiteys and lip syncs Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll," but we often forget that 1983's "Risky Business" is so much more sophisticated than that. "Risky Business" is about money, growing up, acceptance, opportunity, materialism, friendship, love, and even nihilism. It treats sex workers and transgender people with respect. And it inspired a young Big D to explore his body for the first time. This one surfaces a lot of stories for a very drunk Shat Crew, including sexual exploits at Disney World, Gene's concert at his mom's house, and Big D's trip to Amsterdam. We also give advice on negotiating the price of services, the types of lovers to avoid, refractory periods, and the pressures of getting into college. Whatcha gonna do? Watch all three "Bad Boys" movies, that's what. What a long, strange road it's been for Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, two Miami detectives who trade barbs, look cool in slow-motion and kill piles and piles of bad guys. They also kill a bunch of innocent poor people with a humvee in "Bad Boys II," because ACTION! In 1995, director Michael Bay wasn't yet known for his Bayhem, and so the original "Bad Boys" is a somewhat subdued affair until the final 20 minutes. That won't stop the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence from engaging in a full hour of excruciating mistaken identity-comedy focused on keeping murder witness Tea Leoni safe. You know Tea Leoni... that lady who plays Madame Secretary on "Madame Secre......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. After wrestling with the relative charm of the original, Old Millennials Tyler and Angela shift their focus to "Bad Boys II" from 2003, a movie that's as insane and excessive as it is dreadful. Stinky dead bodies, racial stereotypes and homophobia for days here folks, plus one admittedly snazzy car chase. Then it's on to the new "Bad Boys for Life." Michael Bay skipped this go around, and the movie is... passable! We dive into some spoilers here, but basically if you've seen a "Fast & Furious" movie in the last five years, then you can probably guess this movie's twists and turns. Bad Boys podcast for OMRM It's our "Bad Boys" extravaganza with deep, thoughtful discussion and criticism. Actually, we spend a lot of time gushing about the MVP of the franchise Joe "Joey Pants" Pantoliano, talking about how to properly say "MIKE LOWERY" and get into a questionable debate about Tea Leoni's teeth. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

What do you buy your twin for his birthday? A "Shat The Movies" review! What does he buy you? The same. Because, y'know, twins. This week's commission, coming from listener Adam for his brother Josh, is Michael Bay's directorial debut and a '90s action-comedy that confused the hell out of Roger Roeper.  "Bad Boys" is a little too bloody to be a pure comedy. And it's a little too farcical to be a serious cop drama. Instead, you have a movie that touched off a franchise and propelled Martin Lawrence and Will Smith to movie stardom.  Big D rails at the shoddy police work and asks the Shat Crew whether they'd steal from a crime scene. Gene drools over Will Smith and hails Martin Lawrence as a comedic genius, and Rog rewrites the movie to make it darker, more violent, and more mysterious.  Also in this "Shat The Movies" episode: Michael Bay's music video background Martin Lawrence's TV career and meltdown Roger's whiteness and/or inability to remember names Explosions. So many explosions. Hey, you guys! We all loved Richard Donner’s 1985 adventure comedy, “The Goonies,” as kids, but do we really have to spend the rest of our lives pretending that it is a quality film? Sure, Jeff Cohen’s portrayal of Chunk is brilliant, but the rest of the movie smells like Phys Ed. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sean Astin plays Mikey, a greedy bracefaced dunce who leads his friends into enormous peril so that he can bail out his deadbeat parents who haven’t been making their mortgage payments. Oscar-nominated actor Josh Brolin plays Brand, Mikey's workout-obsessed bandana-wearin’ older brother who doesn’t really do much in the film other than attract a girl who barely knows how to play the piano. Jeff Cohen plays Chunk, a gentle soul who wanted nothing to do with this misguided quest and ultimately ends up saving everyone’s lives, including the bad guys, by using his undeniable charisma to befriend a Herculean behemoth. Corey Feldman plays Mouth, an annoying narcissistic jerk who translates Spanish throughout the film for both good and evil. Jonathan Ke Quan plays Data, a mediocre inventor whose zany gadgets are even less believable than the legend of One-Eyed Willy. Kerri Green plays Andy, a cheerleader with dubious piano knowledge who spends half the movie screaming and the other half playing kissy-face. Emmy Award-winning actress Martha Plimpton plays Stef, a ball-bustin’ friend of Andy’s who, along with Josh Brolin’s character, doesn’t really do anything throughout the film. Oscar-nominated actress Anne Ramsey plays Mama Fratelli, the evil baby-dropping ringleader of the Fratelli gang. Razzie Award-nominated actor Robert Davi plays Jake Fratelli, an opera-singing escaped convict who longs for his mama’s approval. Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Pantoliano (a.k.a. Joey Pants) plays Francis Fratelli, a toupéed bumbling stooge who laughs like a hyena. Two-time Super Bowl champion John Matuszak plays Sloth, a deformed and mistreated colossus who loves Errol Flynn movies, Baby Ruth bars, and Chunk.
