The Great Product Owner: The PO that knew how to nurture an Agile culture in the team This Product Owner had a clear willingness to learn, and to accept a new role that was new to them. Through that, the PO was able to help build an agile culture, a culture of “being agile” instead of “doing agile”. In this episode, we hear how a team is an ecosystem and has its own culture that needs to be nurtured by the Scrum Master, and the Product Owner. The Bad Product Owner: When the PO's lose focus on value, a PO anti-pattern This PO was not able to focus on the value the team was helping to create. When this anti-pattern happens, then the team ends up being focused on “just doing the work”, and is not able to bring their technology perspective into the creation of a clear value, or impact on the user. When it comes to company culture, Mercedes-Benz of Baton Rouge has created a culture that is undeniably the goal that businesses should have. Our guest this week, Nick Pentas, goes into detail about what makes their company culture stick with so many people. We discuss the importance of not just having a great customer facing team, but also creating a team in which people are excited to come to work the next day and be a part of. While they have gifts and rewards that team members can earn throughout their working on the job, it goes way beyond the monetary value in which they receive. Nick says a large part of being able to hire the best people for the team is continuing to show them just how much you care about their well being. From hand writing birthday cards for each employee, to having culture sharing meetings every week, Nick knows how to motivate people to become the best version of themselves. The saga of the broken microphone never ends over here, folks. While this isn't my favorite episode audio-wise for me, the episode is too good not to put out. Special shoutout to our new editor, Nick Jack Wright for being amazing at his job because we got to talking for over two hours. Nick managed to squeeze in all the good stuff to under an hour and 15 minutes. In this episode, we are back to talk about the '90s. I was on Steve and Matt's podcast, Happened In The '90s, back in July and had such a wonderful time that I asked them to come to be a guest on our podcast. I love these two guys to death, and they are definitely "our people." We start the conversation off by chatting about my Funko collection and collections in general. Primarily we focus on our regrets of the things that we've parted ways with over the years. We are desperate to find these short nostalgic trips and willing to pay big dollars to return to those priceless moments. Ultimately this brings up "Gamer Rage" and how fights would break out overplaying certain games like Mario Kart. I bring up Seaman AGAIN and how it opened a rabbit hole of discussion among my family and friends. We've concluded that the game had to be the idea from someone's late-night smoke session or a bet gone wrong. We move on to talking about what the 90's meant to each of us. To Steve, the '90s was a time of fantastic music and creations. For Matt, it was about the small group of friends and hanging out, as cliche as it sounds for Steve. For me, the '90s were a time of television and pop culture. My love for Captain Planet and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came from this era. In my area of the Bay Area, we were lucky enough to have a Disney and WB store at our local mall. This place allowed us to watch Looney Toon cartoons while my parents shopped around the store. You can imagine our sadness when they shut them down. This leads us into a quick discussion about the new Space Jam movie. We also chat about our favorite 90's Disney movies like the GOAT Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one that never gets enough credit, but Prop Culture does a great job of showcasing how truly groundbreaking the film was. Many non-Disney movies were popular during this time, like Free Willy, Fern Gully, Harriet The Spy, and Good Burger. In the guy's podcasts, we talked at length about how most 90's kids are either Team Disney Channel or Team Nickelodeon. I've already pledged my allegiance to the Slime of Team Nick. I remember how Nick used to be SNICK on Saturdays and how Nickelodeon turned into Nick at Night at a specific time each day. A time slot that showed old series like I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeanie, and other beloved television classics. We immediately launch into a discussion of do you remember: When Channels Just Stopped Airing Stuff? Yeah, it would just go off the air.Children Today Will Never Be Scared Of The Dial-Up Tone! The fax machine can try all it wants, but you aren't even close! AOL Chat rooms before ASL and playing games with strangers. What were our parents thinking?Catfishing before Catfish and MTV didn't even have TRL yet!Computer Classes where you learned to create websites "for fun" and essentially it was an entire hour where we goofed off on the internet. This conversation leaves us nostalgic and wishing for particular 90's items to come back like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cereal and another wrestling revolution. We are an extraordinary generation that witnessed the birth of the internet being put in almost every home. Frankly, we are so spoiled now. We get things incredibly fast and rarely ever have to "wait" as we did back in the '90s. Before we watched movies repeatedly because that's all we could do, now we watch an episode of Loki, and we are ready for the next one. We can't quote or remember the series the same way we do other movies of the past. I guess our point is that we need to slow down.

DANA MONIQUETeam NickHometown: Houston, TXResident: Houston, TXDana was born into a musically gifted family and grew up singing in church. Her mother ran the ministry of music and her father performed in a jazz band. Dana had her first church solo at 12 years old, and by 15 was touring as a background singer. She continued to work as a background singer for most of her career while she raised her children, but always knew she was destined for more. She later took a job as a headliner on a cruise ship where she got a taste of stardom. Dana has worked hard to get to where she is and is ready to finally step into the spotlight on television's biggest stage.Song: "Stuck with U," by Ariana Grande & Justin BieberPerformance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV_EYbnGIbkAbout the ShowThe four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" celebrates its 10th anniversary with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season, which returns on March 1. Pop music sensation Nick Jonas reclaims his red chair alongside superstar Coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton as they return for Season 20. Carson Daly returns as host. The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts and, finally, the Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The coaches hear the artists perform but they don't get to see them, thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist's voice, that coach pushes a button to select the artist for their team. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel so that they can face the artist they selected. If more than one coach pushes the button, the power then shifts to the artists to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes their button, the artist is eliminated from the competition. Also returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of excitement during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names. The block button prevents a coach from adding a new artist to their team. The coaches can only use their block buttons on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. When a coach hits the block button with the name of one of the other three coaches, the coach who hit it automatically turns around. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button. The blocked coach's chair will still turn, but instead of their lane lighting up with their name, it says "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisors. The coaches enlist music industry heavyweights to prepare their artists for the Battle Rounds. This season's Battle Advisors include international chart-topping Grammy-winning artist Luis Fonsi (Team Kelly), Multi-hyphenated Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning actor and musician Darren Criss (Team Nick), Grammy-winning R&B singer and icon Brandy (Team Legend) and Grammy-winning country music duo Dan + Shay (Team Blake). During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a virtual audience. They are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the next round. After each vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his/her singers will advance to the next round of competition. The losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach or available to be saved by their own coach, but the team coach can only hit their button to save an artist after it's clear no other coach is going to steal the artist. If no other coach has attempted to steal the artist by the time they get down the stage steps, the artist's coach can push the button to save them. Each coach will have one save and one steal in the Battle Rounds. Artists who won their battle or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts. The four artists that were saved by their individual coaches during the Battle Rounds will not automatically advance in the competition. Instead, those artists will compete in the Four-Way Knockout. Each of the four artists will receive individualized coaching and rehearsals with their coach and a superstar Mega Mentor in preparation for the Four-Way Knockout. However, the winner will ultimately be chosen by America. At the top of the final episode of the Knockouts, voting will open for America to choose which of the four artists moves forward in the competition after their performances. At the top of the first Live Show, Carson Daly will reveal which of the four artists was voted through by America, and that artist will continue to the Live Shows with their original team. For the remainder of the artists who made it to the Knockouts, one superstar Mega Mentor will be on hand to work with all the coaches and their teams as they prepare the artists for this challenge. In the Knockouts, the artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time, they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits. The coaches will choose the winner, and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach will only have one steal in the Knockouts. Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete each week against each other during a live broadcast. As always, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. The artists with the lowest number of votes will be eligible for the Instant Save. These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by voting on The Voice Official App or NBC.com. The singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week. In the end, one will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract. "The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. Next up on the pod, we're discussing Season 30: Worlds Apart, or White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. No Collar if you like to run out of breath when naming a season. We, as a collective, had a hard time nailing down our feelings about this season so get ready for a nice, healthy debate. It's a wild ride across the entire season, but we're here to break it down with you. We bring out the big guns to discuss not only the strength of Worlds Apart as a theme, but also touch on the idea of problematic men mistreating women. Shout out to Jeff Probst for trying to hold them accountable, we see you Jeffrey. The biggest debate is between Agie and Nick about our winner: Mike. Take a listen and let us know: are you #TeamAgie or #Team Nick? Let's just say, this one gets a little ~spicy~. As always, you're in for some Rapid Fire and #Jeffneedsavibecheck (but this time it's for a good reason). Let's get into it. With the world working from home in 2020, people became reliant on online orders for pretty much everything. From toilet paper, to laptops... ecommerce skyrocketed. Before we knew it, residential lobbies quickly turned into mountains of packages. AND THAT'S WHEN PACKAGE THIEVES TOOK NOTICE. In part 1 of our 2-part series, we focused on eliminating unauthorized entry into buildings that allow package thieves to get buzzed-in in the first place. We debated 2 potential solutions:- Max proposed an “RSA Fob” approach that forces delivery personnel to match a unique code with the building tenant to verify that they’re a legitimate delivery person (UPS, FedEx, etc) before getting buzzed in. - Nick proposed an intercom unit retrofit that would allow building access to verified delivery personnel for a set amount of time, eliminating tenants (and human-error) from the equation altogether. Give it a listen and decide for yourself whether you’re Team Max, or Team Nick. Which approach do you see working better (and why)? Let us know on Twitter @sevendaymvp. And don’t forget to subscribe to join us next week as we dive into Part 2 in the fight to eliminate package theft once and for all!

A nice chat about what we thought about the show. Obviously, spoiler alerts! Overall, we loved it! Super fun to watch. It didn't feel like a part of the typical mass media produced exploitive, “witchy aesthetic” culture. Very fourth wave feminism--but no cellphones or mention of social media. Bonus Episode for Suicide Awareness & Prevention Month! Replay of Laura's interview with Dr. Jonathan Singer, host of the Social Work Podcast, professor at Loyola University in Chicago, and co-author of the book, "Suicide in Schools" which details how communities can address the issue of suicide. Welcome back to Therapy Chat! Today’s topic is a serious one, and something that needs to be talked about, although most of us would rather not think about it. September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month, and host Laura Reagan, LCSW-C recorded this special episode to honor a friend’s brother who died by suicide almost 3 years ago. Today Laura interviews someone who has worked for years in the field of suicide prevention. Jonathan B. Singer, PhD is podcaster, a social work professor at Loyola University in Chicago and one of the co-authors of the book “Suicide in Schools: A Practitioner’s Guide to Multi-Level Prevention, Assessment, Intervention and Postvention.” This book is a guide for schools and communities, as well as families, to understand what we can all do to make a difference in the problem of suicide which plagues the United States. Jonathan shares some shocking statistics about the problem of suicide – how often it happens and who is most at risk. He describes specific things schools and communities can do to prevent suicide and to support a person who is feeling suicidal. He also talks about how schools can develop crisis plans to put into action when a school community member dies by suicide. Our community has been affected by suicide far too often. One person dying by suicide is too many, but the numbers are much higher than that. This episode may inspire you to take action to make a difference in your community to reduce suicide.
